We all have fears. But we don't have to let our fears control us. Amber sits down with Dr. Ashley Schoof of Christian Family Solutions to have a grounded conversation about fear as a natural part of being human, explained through both psychological insight and a faith perspective. Dr. Schoof shares clear, practical ways to respond to fear that emphasize connection and validation rather than dismissal. The discussion highlights how understanding our emotional wiring and learning to coregulate with others can help manage fear at any age. Find thoughtful guidance on navigating fears that impact daily life, including how to recognize when it's time to seek support—all without oversimplifying the complexity of emotions. This is the second of several conversations Amber had at the Christian Leadership Experience in La Crosse, Wisconsin, earlier this summer. The conference was a chance for those in ministry to learn from leaders. Dr. Schoof led a breakout session about fear.Amber wants to hear from you! Jay is taking an honest account of Paul and some of the critiques of the writings that are attributed to him. The hierarchy (Ephesians 5:22 for example) that was set up, by people, waters down the message of equality that is the foundation of Christianity. This only serves to divide us. Rather than negotiating with the Bible, it makes more sense to look deeper into these teachings, who might have actually written these words and the context in which they were written. As always, we appreciate your comments, your support and this beautiful group of people at Revolution. US-born Protestant evangelicalism has gone global to an extent of which many of us might be unaware. Soul by Soul: The Evangelical Mission to Spread the Gospel to Muslims (Columbia Global Reports, 2024) tells the story of Americans' colossal mobilization to proclaim Christianity “to the ends of the Earth,” a movement that triumphed in the Global South, challenged the Vatican, then turned east in full force after 9/11 to spread the Gospel among Muslims. When the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq set off a wave of anti-American attacks and made the field too dangerous for US missionaries, thousands of disciples, particularly from Latin America, were mobilized to finish the task. In Soul by Soul, journalist Adriana Carranca follows the pilgrimage of a missionary family from Brazil as they move to Afghanistan. Carranca brings us on a harrowing journey through the underground passages of the global evangelical movement as it clashes with the full force of militant Islamic groups in the Middle East and South Asia, where contemporary religious wars are being fought, soul by soul. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. In our reading of Proverbs 14, Fr. Mike reinforces that freedom is not the same thing as license, true freedom is the power to do what we ought. Fr. Mike also reflects on Jeremiah's repudiation of Israel's cult worship and how its distorted sexuality had serious consequences. Today's readings are Jeremiah 3, Ezekiel 29-30, and Proverbs 14:13-16.
