Send us a textEveryone is on their unique path to healing. While there are many things we can gain from others' journeys, every journey is ultimately different, so it is important to find the path that works for you. Jesse Harless came to terms with this realization once he was introduced to what some may view as an unconventional form of healing, cold exposure, and plant medicine. What he didn't understand at first slowly became the thing to lower his extreme anxiety and keep him going on his path to healing. This week's episode 290 of the Fragmented to Whole Podcast is about connection, cold exposure, and plant medicine! In this episode of the Fragmented to Whole Podcast, Jesse Harless shares his profound journey from being born into addiction to his journey to recovery through focusing on the 12 steps, physical fitness, and nervous system regulation. Some of the talking points Jesse and I go over in this episode include:Jesse's build up of addiction over time and the breaking point that ultimately forced him into recovery. The crucial role that connection played in Jesse's recovery, from finding a mentor and therapist to building meaningful relationships within 12-step fellowships. How cold therapy has helped regulate his nervous system and build resilience. Jesse's approach to researching and incorporating psychedelic-assisted therapy into his recovery plan. When it comes to your own healing journey, trust your own heart, trust your own path and see what works for you, and then study the people who have gone before as guides to see if that serves you.Are you saying yes when you really want to say no? Are you putting yourself last? Perhaps you're the consummate accommodator whose people-pleasing ways are wearing you out. All of these books impacted me profoundly! I sincerely hope you will take as much pleasure in reading them as I did, and I trust they will inspire and stir you as much as they did me!  Please share your thoughts and impressions with me after reading these books. Your feedback means the world to me!  The Cancel Culture Curse by Evan Nierman  This thought-provoking work, which I had the privilege of listening to on Audible, delves into the insidious phenomenon of cancel culture. Authored by Evan Nierman, the book is a compelling call for awareness and action. Nierman vividly defines the concept of cancel culture, offering insightful criteria to identify its manifestations. Beyond merely diagnosing the issue, he equips readers with strategies to combat this modern-day scourge on our freedom. The book is enriched further by real-world examples, including the cases of individuals like Alan Dershowitz, who have confronted cancel culture head-on. The Cancel Culture Curse is a must-read, as it raises a clarion call against a disturbing societal trend that threatens our liberty. Simple Numbers 2.0 by Greg Crabtree  In Simple Numbers 2.0, Greg Crabtree, a seasoned finance and business management expert, imparts invaluable wisdom to entrepreneurs and business owners. Drawing on his extensive experience, Crabtree unveils a blueprint for managing and scaling businesses. Whether you are a financial novice or a seasoned professional, Simple Numbers 2.0 offers a treasure trove of knowledge to propel your business endeavors. The Family Board Meeting by Jim and Jamie Shields  Jim and Jamie Shields bring us a heartwarming guide that champions the concept of quality time in our busy lives. Their book, The Family Board Meeting, encapsulates the essence of meaningful connections within families. Rooted in the notion that we have a finite number of summers to bond with our children, the book encourages dedicated one-on-one time without distractions. The authors emphasize the significance of being fully present during these moments, offering a framework for engaging conversations and mutual commitments. This heartening approach fosters lasting relationships and provides a valuable lesson for both families and businesses. 15 Minutes of Shame by Des Hague  15 Minutes of Shame recounts the gripping tale of Des Hague, a man whose life got upended by a single incident caught on camera. Hague's journey from success to infamy is a poignant exploration of the destructive power of online shaming. The book delves into his personal and professional fallout, highlighting the double standards and chaos that ensue when individuals become targets of online attacks. Hague's resilience and determination to rebuild his life after facing the brunt of cancel culture exemplify the spirit of survival against the odds. A compelling narrative interwoven with business and personal growth lessons, 15 Minutes of Shame is a powerful testament to the human capacity to overcome adversity. The Mastermind Dinners by Jason Gaignard  Jason Gaignard's book, The Mastermind Dinners, is a compelling guide for anyone seeking to orchestrate impactful mastermind dinners and events. The book offers a detailed blueprint to illuminate the power of these gatherings in fostering meaningful connections and facilitating valuable discussions among like-minded individuals. With Giagnard drawing on his life experiences, this book equips readers with practical steps to curate successful mastermind dinners that inspire collaboration and personal growth. Through the lens of this transformative treatment, Engle presents a captivating narrative that highlights the potential of MDMA to address conditions like PTSD. The book encapsulates the experiences of individuals undergoing this therapy, shedding light on the profound impact MDMA has on their healing journey. Engle's expertise and passion shine through as he explores the promising future of MDMA therapy within the mental health realm. How to Work with Almost Anyone by Michael Bungay Stanier  Michael Bungay Stanier's How to Work with Almost Anyone offers insightful guidance for navigating complex interpersonal dynamics in the workplace. With thought-provoking questions and strategies, the book empowers individuals to build more harmonious relationships with colleagues, ultimately enhancing productivity and teamwork. The End of the World Is Just the Beginning by Peter Zeihan  Peter Zeihan's The End of the World Is Just the Beginning presents a thought-provoking exploration of geopolitics and global trends. With meticulous analysis, Zeihan dissects the collapse of globalization and its implications for various sectors, from energy to manufacturing. Backed by data and historical context, the book offers an illuminating glimpse into the shifting geopolitical landscape, providing readers with a comprehensive understanding of our world's evolving dynamics. Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck  Carol Dweck's seminal work, Mindset, delves into the concept of mindset and its influence on personal and professional success. You have to fast, do a lot of dietary interventions, or work out to make your body turn its own fat reserves into ketones. In ketogenesis, your liver has to convert fat stores, it takes a long time. You can get really good at it and get you natural ketones up in 18-24 hours. If you're a carb-eater, you're going to take multiple days, and you're going to get keto flu because your body has to readapt its enzymes and all of its metabolism to focus on being a fat burner. But if you can have a drinkable ketone, you skip that conversion step. So you can have something that you directly consume that gives you ATP but it's not protein, fat, or carbohydrate. - Geoffrey Woo Live Life Well from Sunrise to Sunset Save 20% with code "WELLNESSFORCE" on everyone's favorite Superfoods brand, ORGANIFI, including their Sunrise to Sunset Bundle and their Women's Power Stack that includes HARMONY + GLOW for true hormonal balance and great health radiating through your beautiful skin. Power Quotes From The Show Exogenous Ketones "You hear about people bonking out when they're doing marathons or bike rides. You're eating sugar but at a certain point, your body doesn't digest the sugar quickly enough so you bonk out, and your muscles freak out. The way I look at exogenous ketones is that we want this specific signal to happen at this specific time that would not normally be achievable by a diet. It's a metabolism tool to turn fasting or keto diet on for you now while having other substrates." - Geoffrey Woo Glucose, Ketones + Ancestral Wisdom "A lot of early research saw that ketones were looking like a very good replacement for glucose. We don't just go brain-dead when we run out of stored glucose for glycogen. It's very clear that when we were hunter-gatherers, we were not just constantly having sugar bombs in our pockets. These people would do multi-day endurance hunts. In some sense, we almost forgot that ancestral wisdom." - Geoffrey Woo Plant Medicine Ceremony with Ketone Supplements "I've heard a very interesting combination synergy with ayahuasca plant medicine with ketones. There's fasting, purging, and a very clean diet. You're essentially getting the ketogenic state. In a plant ceremony, all these neurons are firing, you need energy, and you need substrate to fuel all that neurotransmitter release. Ketones are very efficient to fuel the power of all of those synapse firing." - Geoffrey Woo Links From Today's Show  H.V.M.N - 20% off with code "JOSH" 431 David Wolfe | Freedom Over Fear: Jing Energy, Detoxification & How To Have Balance Kevin Kelly 365 Dr. Paul Saladino | Your Guide To The Carnivore Diet: The Myths of Eating Meat & Plants Jake Paul The Truman Show 532 Molly Maloof MD: The Spark Factor | Biohacking For Women Micheal Brandt Andrew Huberman Dr. Dan Engle Bulletproof Coffee H.V.M.N on Shark Tank Michael Pollan 23andMe SaunaSpace - 10% off using code "JOSH10" Paul Chek: All Is God Shop the Wellness Force Media Store Organifi – Special 20% off to our listeners with the code ‘WELLNESSFORCE' breathwork.io SEED - Save 35% with the code "JOSH" BON CHARGE - Save 15% with the code "JOSH15" MANNA Vitality - Save 20% with the code "JOSH20" Mendi.io - Save 20% with the code "JOSH20" SpectraSculpt - Save 15% with "JOSH15" Cured Nutrition CBD - Save 20% with the CODE "WELLNESSFORCE" PLUNGE – Save $150 with the code “WELLNESSFORCE" LiftMode - Save 10% with the code "JOSH10" HVMN - Get 20% off your Ketone IQ order with the code "JOSH" MitoZen – Save 10% with the code “WELLNESSFORCE” Paleovalley – Save 15% on your ACV Complex with the code ‘JOSH' NOOTOPIA - Save 10% with the code "JOSH10" ActivationProducts – Save 20% with the code “WELLNESSFORCE” NEUVANA - Save 15% with the code “WELLNESSFORCE” SENSATE - Save $25 on your order with the code "JOSH25" DRY FARM WINES - Get an extra bottle of Pure Natural Wine with your order for just 1¢ ION - Save 15% off sitewide with the code ‘JOSH1KS' Feel Free from Botanic Tonics – Save 40% when you use the code ‘WELLNESS40′ Drink LMNT – Zero Sugar Hydration: Get your free LMNT Sample Pack, with any purchase BREATHE - Save 20% by using the code “PODCAST20” Essential Oil Wizardry: Save 10% with the code ‘WELLNESSFORCE' NEUROHACKER - Save 15% with the code "WELLNESSFORCE" ALIVE WATER - Save 33% on your first order with the code "JOSH33" M21 Wellness Guide Wellness + Wisdom Community Leave Wellness + Wisdom a review on Apple Podcasts Geoffrey Woo H.V.M.N Instagram Facebook Twitter About Geoffrey Woo Geoffrey Woo is an entrepreneur and investor. In this episode, David interviews Kevin Cannella, LPC: MAPS-trained psychedelic psychotherapist and Co-Founder and Executive Director of Thank You Life, a nonprofit organization working to provide access to psychedelic therapy by eliminating its financial barriers. Co-Founded by Dr. Dan Engle, Thank You Life is very new and still in the process of officially launching, having just obtained 501(c)(3) status in December and recently gaining its first corporate sponsor in Dr. Bronner's. The nonprofit came from the realization of just how expensive psychedelic-assisted therapy can be, and Cannella wondering: what if there was a fund practitioners could plug into when a patient couldn't pay? While access for the patient is obvious, this model benefits the practitioner as well, which is something not often discussed in the psychedelic space – we focus a lot on how much these services will cost the patient, but rarely on the practitioner deserving to be paid fairly for their time and expertise.  Cannella tells his story of immersion into a world of ayahuasca, yoga, and vipassana meditation; volunteering at the Temple of the Way of Light, living in Hawaii, then Brazil, and finally, landing at Naropa University, where his passions were finally validated. He discusses looking for signs and learning to trust intuition, ways to increase accessibility outside of a 501(c)(3) model, how it feels to be paid well for your work, and why he only wants to work with practitioners who offer therapy alongside their chosen substance. Head to their website to donate to the Thank You Life fund, and follow them on socials for details on upcoming launch/fundraising events in April and May. www.psychedelicstoday.com

How many people are stuck in the throes of their trauma, or quagmired in some Western medical drama? Too many for any compassionate soul to bear. Dr. Dan Engle MD is one of those compassionate souls who has dedicated his life to the art of healing through full spectrum, soul centered medicine. While his background is as a clinical psychiatrist, he has found himself walking the deep shamanic wisdom traditions and now carries a medicine bag more robust than any person I have ever encountered. Over the last dozen years we have supported each other in traversing the most interesting territories of the heart and soul, and unequivocally this conversation was our finest. In giving us a glimpse of the inspiring future of medicine, Dan shares exactly how trauma is being healed with MDMA assisted psychotherapy. He also offers his powerful perspective on taking radical responsibility for our lives, and illuminates some blind spots in both psychiatry and spiritual communities. I've been tracking Dr. Dan Engle for almost five years. In today's episode, we finally sit down to delve into his deep knowledge on alternative medicine and incredibly vast experience (350+ journeys!) with ayahuasca and other psychoactive substances. In particular, this one focuses on therapeutic use of MDMA to treat PTSD, depression, and other serious issues that are on the rise in our society. Dr. Dan is in the know, speaking from incredible experience in both the traditional medical field and in lineage traditions. He even spent a year completely immersed in the jungle, living and learning, as he describes, married to the medicine. I truly believe that these kinds of treatments, administered by experts, and offered within a support structure to ensure long term efficacy – can save the world. Dr. Engle is on the cutting edge of that global change in consciousness and I'm excited to see what he gets into next.   00:06:33 — Transpersonal Psychology to Transformational Medicine What is integrative psychiatry? Do you know how to claim your grief and pursue an inner resolution? Many people bury their emotions believing it makes them stronger, but often times holding in trauma handicaps other emotional progress down the line.    Dr. Dan Engle is the author of A Dose of Hope and Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology. He advises his clients, specifically those suffering from PTSD, on how to heal trauma through assisted psychotherapy sessions and serves as an advocate for legalizing the use of drugs such as MDMA in controlled circumstances.    On this episode of Underdog Empowerment, Zach speaks with Dr. Engle about the experience and his personal concerns about participating in MDMA-assisted psychotherapy. Dr. Engle encourages Zach to embrace the transitional work associated with taking these medications in a controlled environment. Listen in for an episode that will get you rethinking how to orient your inner truth.   What You'll Learn: How Zach has already begun confronting his trauma through micro-dosing in nature What Dr. Engle cautions users about when they begin to pursue trauma recovery through psychotherapies Why he said success rates for treating PTSD with MDMA will help the drug become legal for regulated use in the near future And much more!   Favorite Quote:   “All medicines have their sweet spot. If you use the right amount, then there's usually a positive outcome. If you don't use enough, there's no effect. You use too much -- it's poison. Psychedelics are the same way. The art of it is to know which is the right amount for which person to use of which medicine at which time. We're in the early stages of understanding how to bring the art of this medicine into a therapeutic style of facilitation.” — Dr. Dan Engle Connect with Dr. Dan:   drdanengle.com   Twitter   How to Get Involved:   Get podcasting help here.   For more on MDMA Therapy, check out this episode with Tucker Max.   If you enjoyed this episode, head over and visit us on Apple Podcasts — leave a review and let us know what you thought! Joshua Fields Millburn is one half of the popular simple living duo known as The Minimalists. He and his best friend and fellow Minimalist Ryan Nicodemus have helped over 20 million people live more meaningful lives with less through their website, books, podcast, and Netflix films. The Minimalists have been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, Forbes, TIME, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, BBC, and NPR. Joshua has previously been an NBT client, and I'm fortunate enough to call him a friend. On this podcast, Joshua and I talk about minimalism, consumerism, values, and healing.  Joshua explains how minimalism is not simply about getting rid of material possessions (though that can play a role), but rather it's a process of getting to the root of life's lingering discontent - digging out from under the stuff, the debt, the stress and the loneliness and regaining control of your life.
