Listen: I am NOT a fan of traditional, unsustainable food diets. You know this. But what I CAN get behind: a MENTAL diet. People are quick to go on diets when they don't PHYSICALLY feel their best, but how often do we go on a MENTAL diet to ruthlessly eliminate all the negative inputs for our brains when we don't MENTALLY feel our best? On this podcast, we talk a lot about food consumption. But overall wellness goes beyond what type of food you're consuming — it's the type of media you're consuming, conversations you're having, people you're surrounding yourself with, what you listen to, and how you think on a daily basis. In this episode, I share a vulnerable story about what I've been going through recently that led me to the point of NEEDING this mental diet. Plus, we go over what the 30-day "mental diet" actually entails.Would love to hear your thoughts and if you're joining me!Instagram: @byjuliebooher (DM me here about my Healthy & Happy Mama 8-Week Program!!)Buy my book, Healthy & Happy: Find Food Freedom & Create the Body You Love, HERE.

Hello there my beautiful friends. It starts small - an affirmation card, a podcast, a meditation in a yoga class. Sometimes, it can be a green smoothie and a commitment to move your body. It doesn't really matter what the entry point is - because once you're on your way, you're on your way. There's no turning back. That's the process of self-discovery.Motherhood can be such a catalyst for this: a chance to look at yourself in a new light. You want to get healthy for your kids, or you want to stop yelling and do it differently than your own mother did. And so begins a beautiful relationship with yourself.Sophie Melville is another Happy Mama who has fallen in love with this process. Starting with her first child, she began to question what she loved, what she wanted to do, and who she wanted to be. And since then (and two more babies later), she marvels at where she is.As an artist, Sophie has found her creativity and outlet, but through self-discovery, meditation and commitment to herself, she has found a new meaning of life.May this podcast bring you the same inspiration and aha moments.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------AUDIO ONLY HERE: https://www.amytaylorkabbaz.com/ep-82-falling-in-love-with-self-discovery-with-sophie-melville/CATCH THE VIDEO VERSION RIGHT HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-rYULFLsRI-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FIND OUT MORE ABOUT SOPHIE HERE:https://www.sophiemelville.com/https://www.facebook.com/sophiemelvilleartisthttps://www.instagram.com/sophiemelville_artist/https://vimeo.com/sophiemelville-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Please visit my website: https://www.amytaylorkabbaz.com and: https://mamarising.net/ to submit questions for Mama Q, our new Q&A podcast session, where we answer your questions regarding Matrescence and motherhood------------------------------------------------------------------------------------WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW...-How motherhood changes your core identity-What the 'Inner Split' is, and how to come to terms with this change within you-How to stop being torn between all the roles you have to play-How to see yourself, your body, and all your relationships differently-How to stop being so hard on yourself and, in turn, stop being so resentful towards your loved onesThen register for a set of live coaching calls with me, Amy Taylor Kabbaz.HAVE THE UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN AMY AND HUNDREDS OF OTHERS TO ASK QUESTIONS, LISTEN, HEAL AND RISE TOGETHER.CLICK the LINK to find out more:https://www.amytaylorkabbaz.com/tboy/-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Within these conversations, we change the way mothers are valued and seen in our society and spread the whispers of Matrescence...

Episode 94 - Don't let money keep you from being the healthy, happy mama you want to be

The Unraveled Mama Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 30, 2022 31:42

Mama, Today I wanna chat about something that stirred up some emotions on a social post of mine I hoped a question like this…   ‌ How many times have you found the perfect exercise or nutrition program that would help you reach all of your health and weight loss goals but you didn't sign up because you were worried about the money? Yup! Me too, Mama! I used to be so afraid to spend money on myself because there were so many other expenses that I thought were more important.   ‌ - My kids wanted new clothes/ or the latest shoes.- My husband wanted to buy new gear for his hobbies.- We wanted to take the kids on a fun vacation.  - Healthy food is too expensive.- I want to put my kids in sports/music lessons/after-school activities. ‌ The list could go on, and on, and on. There's always something around the corner that will demand more of your finances. I get it, I've been there. But Mama, let me tell you something.   ‌ Your needs matter. Your health is important. Your happiness is important! To show up and be the very best mama to your kids, the best wife/partner to your spouse, and the best employee/boss at your job, you have to take care of yourself. ‌ I want you to realize that not having enough money is an excuse. Its an easy one we throw out too easily. We are quick to spend money on things that are fleeting and slow to spend on things that are good for us and that could give us years of life back in return.   ‌ I often see this happen because we are so used to coming last when it comes to the needs of the family. We fall into the martyr mom role.   ‌ And this isn't necessarily your fault! You were most likely taught that this was the way it worked! The expectation for generations has been that mamas give up everything to make their families happy. But honestly, that's the saddest thing I've ever heard! Would you want your daughters to learn that? To be told that their needs, dreams and goals need to be put away to make other people happy? No way! ‌ I want you to unlearn everything you've been taught about sacrificing everything to make your family happy because, honestly, that attitude is hurting everyone around you! ‌ Here are three truths that will help you prioritize your health so that not only can you be happy, but you can also have a better, stronger, happier family. ## Being unhealthy is more expensive than being healthy Let's just be honest, yes, losing weight and being healthy can be expensive. You need to buy higher quality foods. You need to pay for a coach to teach you how to live healthily. You need to invest in a gym membership or workout equipment. You might even want to get some supplements to perform at optimum levels. It can add up. ‌ But being unhealthy is going to cost you too. Eating out is expensive. When you're overweight you have higher health insurance premiums. Unhealthy habits like drinking and smoking are expensive too!   ‌ Those are just the costs that are in front of you right now. But if you look at the long-term picture, people who are unhealthy end up spending way more on medical bills and prescriptions over their lifetime.   ‌ On top of that, they are more likely to get sick which leads to more missed work. That's less revenue coming into your family. According to Market Watch, unhealthy people earn 28% less money over their lifetime compared to their healthy counterparts! ‌ Ask yourself this question, is staying stuck in, unhealthy patterns costing, more or less than it would to be healthy? Most likely, the answer is more!   ‌ One thing mamas don't think about when they're looking at the costs of getting healthy is how much money they will end up saving. Meal planning is the best way to cut costs! Each week I make a weekly meal plan, then I purchase the exact groceries I need for that plan.   ‌ Because I know what I need, I don't end up buying a bunch of food that I don't need or that will end up going bad before we can eat it. This simple habit has saved my family so much money! I have a great [blog post that can help you learn how to meal plan](https://www.kmoremacro.com/blog/2022/8/30/the-1-meal-planning-strategy-that-will-save-busy-mamas-from-complete-overwhelm "‌"). Go check it out! ‌ Then there is a cost we can't put a monetary value too years of life that you just give up. When you level up your health and weight is a big part of being healthy you add years to your life to live. You can't put a price tag on an extra 10 years 5 months 2 days. How many times do we find ourselves saying if I could just have one more day with my mom, or my grandma or anyone we have lost we would give anything! Well, you can start doing just that by investing time, energy and effort into your health!   ‌ Now before we jump into this part let me start out by saying if you are literally paycheck to paycheck I am not talking about you in this blog, podcast or social post. I know you are not making excuses about getting healthy and your finances I am talking about mamas who use money as an out, a reason to not show up and give themselves a happier, healthier better future! People who hide behind I can't's and fear and then use money as a scapegoat!   ‌ We have to remember our health is a need not a want ‌ A lot of the things we spend our money on are not needs, they are wants. You _want_ to take the kids to Disney - you don't _have_ to. Your husband _wants_ to buy something new - he doesn't _have_ to. ‌ But, you _have_ to eat. You _have_ to wake up each day and mom. You _have_ to do well at work if you want to keep your job. So why aren't you investing time, energy and money to do all of those things to the best of your abilities? ‌ Mamas get stuck in the trap of thinking that they will invest in their health when there's some extra money in the budget. But, Mama, be honest with me, when's the last time that you had extra money?   ‌ I never have extra money for myself because there's always some emergency that takes precedence! The car breaks down and needs to be fixed. The kids want money to go out with friends. Your husband decides to make a big purchase. ‌ If you keep waiting until there's money left over to focus on your health you're going to be waiting forever. You need to make your health a priority not an afterthought! You deserve that! ‌ I am also not saying that this should financially hurt for the next 10 years lol. But when you invest in a real coach, a real program where there is skin in the game You show up differently. Think of this how many people spend $9 on a gym membership for 5 10 15 years and NEVER GO? Then think about this how many people pay for a studio like pilates or CF and pay $180 to $200 bucks and don't show for 5 months, to a year VERY VERY few there is skin in the game because it's a real investment nad intention.   ‌ Every day I talk to mamas who are desperate to lose weight, feel good and have the energy to keep up with all that life demands of them. But they don't put their needs at the top of the to-do list. If they did, they would have everything they want! ‌ Instead of saying, “I can't afford to get healthy right now.” I want you to say “Being healthy isn't a priority for me right now.” How does that feel? Does that make you feel happy, sad, disappointed, frustrated, or elated? What is the feeling that hits you when you tell yourself that your health isn't a priority? ‌ If you feel sad, frustrated, disappointed, etc, then that means this is something you need. It's time to make buying a program fit into your budget - not the other way around! So many good things will come from prioritizing your health that spending the money on it now with absolutely be worth it. ‌ You can't afford to not be a priority!   ‌ The biggest difference, the unselfish difference, is that your health is the key to a happy, healthy family. ## ANDDDDD You are the key to a happy, healthy family ‌ Mama, if you are reading this or listening to this and thinking, “How freaking selfish would I be to drop thousands of dollars on a health program that only benefited me?” Then, listen up because what I'm about to say is exactly what you need to hear. ‌ You are the one responsible for teaching your family about food and health. As the mama, you are the one primarily responsible for feeding your family. Sure, your husband is also responsible for these things, but mamas have a special purpose to lead and raise their kids. ‌ If you don't know how to make healthy choices for yourself, how are you supposed to raise healthy kids? You can't! Right? ‌ You can't teach or model what you don't know and understand! ‌ But what if you had the tools and knowledge to take care of your health while helping your family learn healthy principles too? ‌ That's how you change not just your kids' lives, but your grandkids' and great-grandkids' lives. ‌ I want to share two stories with you of mamas who joined my Macros Made Easy program scared to death to spend money on themselves and what they learned from the program that has improved not just their health, but their family's lives as well! ‌ First up is Stacey.   ‌ “On February 25, 2021, I took the first step and said enough is enough and I am going to do something about it. I didn't like the way my postpartum body looked and hated taking family pictures, I always tried to hide behind a kid or my husband. With 2 kids in club soccer at 6 practices a week, a hubby assistant coaching, me co-managing a team and a 4-month-old baby at home, I decided to focus on myself and get healthier for my family. ‌ I wanted to show up for them in ways that I couldn't before. I wanted to get healthy for my new baby that was going to keep me running around and be able to keep up with him. The investment was huge and I immediately felt the mom guilt creep in as soon as I said yes, but that is also what kept me going.   ‌ I wasn't going to let my husband down who worked hard to pay for this and I wasn't going to let my coach down who had faith in me and was taking her time to teach me the way and cheer me on along the way. ‌ I set a huge goal of losing 50 pounds. To be honest, I didn't think it was realistic at first and thought, well, if I get close then I will be happy. ‌ Well, guess what?! ‌ 5 months and 4 days later, I finally hit my goal! I lost a whopping 50 pounds. I am ecstatic! I have learned so much along the way and had so many non-scale victories. The rewards have been fun and I've learned to love to work out.   ‌ A huge thank you to Krista Moreland from KmoreMacro for leading the way and walking me through this process. To my husband who chose to invest in me and my health for the sake of our kids and family.” ‌ I love that Stacey's family was so supportive of her investing in her health! That mom guilt has since gone away as Stacey has helped her boys learn more about health, nutrition and exercise! Now she and her son go to the gym together! Isn't that amazing? ‌ Next up is, Suzanne. When Suzanne finished the program she gave me a list of the changes that she had made during the program and I want to share just a few with you. ‌ Before Macros Made Easy - I had no idea where to begin when it came to feeding myself and my family- I felt like I was either starving or stuffed  - I felt like taking care of myself was selfish- Spending $3,000 on myself made me feel like I was going to vomit- I had no idea how working on food and feeding myself would clear the mental space and create more peace in my life ‌ After Macros Made Easy - I recognize when I need to eat and know that there is no reason to get hangry- I know taking care of myself creates healthy ripples that serve everyone in my life- Spending money on myself is just as justifiable as spending money on anyone else in the family- I feel energized and empowered- I feel a sense of control and even when really hungry I can figure out what to eat to almost immediately feel better so I can make better choices about our next meal ‌ Suzanne also talked to me about how much easier it has been to feed her family! Before she learned about nutrition she was making multiple meals to accommodate different people's tastes and now she makes one meal that her family can modify to fit their taste buds and nutritional needs.   ‌ Mama, if you want that family that sits down to dinner and eats a healthy meal together, then you need to figure out how to create that! You need to invest in your nutritional education so that you can lead your family to health and happiness. It starts with you! Don't let your family stay stuck because you think spending money on yourself is selfish. ‌ I know that things are more expensive than ever right now. How the hell are you always so happy? I get asked this, or some version of this, all the time. I figured I would address it and see if I can shed some light on why I am the way I am. Generally I am an incredibly happy person. This boggles a lot of people’s minds- how is that even possible? Do you ever get upset? Are you ever not smiling? The answer to all of those is yes, BUT the majority of the time I am a happy, smiley person. I’ve been this way my whole life and I attribute a lot of it to my Dad. His attitude about things, his desire to look for the good instead of the bad, his undying support for his family… He has always been the most positive and optimistic person that I know. One of the best and most profound things he ever said to me was to have a PMA- a Positive Mental Attitude. It’s your choice of how you react and what your attitude about things will be. For whatever reason, it stuck and I have always looked on the bright side of things. I share a couple of stories about my "how am I so happy" journey, so give it a listen and let me know your biggest takeaway! Send me a DM on IG @livingjoyfulandwellThe doors to The LJW Collective - a private membership for MOMS- is opening on May 19! If you’ve listened to me or know me at all, you know that I have a passion for supporting other Moms, not competing with each other, and for allowing all of us to just be who we are- messy, silly, made up, makeup free, fancy, or casual- it doesn’t matter! We just need a community of like-minded, supportive, freaking fantastic Mamas to stick together through thick and thin and help make this journey through life amazing. So if we accept we're not meant to do this alone, then why don't we ask for more help? If we understand, on a conscious level, that the Motherload and the Third Shift is unfair and unbalanced, then why don't we speak up more often and lean on those around us? This is something I've been contemplating a lot lately. I've needed more help in my own life over the past few months, and I've also been witnessing and observing the women around me struggle to lean on others. And what I've seen is - it's more than just "I should be able to do this myself." There's the worry of your children being seen as difficult; There's the concern that your kids are too much; There's different disciplines and approaches. In other words, the reasons we don't ask for help run deep... and if we're ever going to stop this Superwoman addiction, we're going to have to shine a light on them - which is exactly what I do in this episode.

Early motherhood brings a total shift of focus - from you as a woman and a partner, to Mother. We get that. We know that’s part of the process. But after a while, you begin to realise that maybe, just maybe, you need to start shifting that focus back onto yourself a little - and your relationship. How do you reunite again, after being so focused on being a mama? How does the massive shift inside you translate to how you feel about your partner? Over the years, the strain of trying to be Super Woman and juggle all the things began to show in my relationship. There were many times when I was filled with resentment that I was the one who shouldered so much. We both did our best, but it wasn't what it should be. And I didn't know how to reconnect in a new way. That is, until a simple sentence explaining what we, as women, really need began to change it all. In this episode, I honestly share how things have changed in my relationship, and invite you to join in a special short online course to redefine your relationship - in a very powerful way. Join REUNITE before 31st October, and join for a special one hour coaching call (two timezones available) to talk through how your relationship is evolving. All the details are here.

If we want to work, does that mean we value motherhood less? And if we suddenly find ourselves reprioritising our career plans to be with our little ones while they are still little, does that mean we have given up on our ambition? Can we make decisions on what we most want at this time of our life without the judgement of what it actually 'means'?For so long, we've been told that we have a choice: one or the other. One means we love being a mum, and the other means we love our job. And these 'competing devotions', as author and professor of gender and sociology, Mary Blair-Loy describes it, often make us feel stuck. In this episode, I share how this realisation that I couldn't have both (and what I believed that meant for me) has affected me, and how we can all start to look at our own competing devotions, and decide for ourselves what we really want right now.

"What have you shut down to get the family you desired, Amy?"That was the question that stopped my heart. I could not have that and be the mama, partner, sister, daughter, woman I desired to be. They simply were not compatible. We do this a lot. As women, we shut parts of ourselves down in the mistaken belief that we can't be something AND be the mama or woman we need to be right now. But although life is all about compromises - especially when you have small children - shutting down a core part of yourself is never the answer. There has to be a way to honour ALL of you, even in the smallest ways, even in the middle of motherhood. In this episode, I share what happened when I was asked this question recently. We are excited to have Mona Sharma and Tara Butterwick here with us to discuss all things mindset, health, and wellness. Mona is a mama x2, Holistic Nutritionist, yoga instructor, and Meditation/Wellness Coach. Her passion is to help her clients discover their unique path to feeling healthy, energized and beautiful; both inside and out. After leaving her high-powered, high-stress, corporate role in the luxury beauty industry, she turned her attention to her healing. She recovered from two heart surgeries, chronic anxiety, and long-term hormone imbalance and quickly discovered that she was in control of how she could feel and heal her body. Her global clientele includes CEO's, professional athletes and celebrities, working with each of them to optimize their fitness, health and overall well being.       Tara is a certified personal trainer and mama motivator helping thousands of women embrace postpartum fitness through her popular blog and well-known alias TopKnot Mommy. She focuses on positive living, allowing mamas to be fit healthy and real. She's changed the game of “post-baby body” image and continues to inspire and motivate women all over Canada and the US. She is also an upcoming contributor in You've Got This, Healthy Mama and mama to two littles. When it comes to postpartum health and wellness, everything comes down to mental health and mindset. Mona takes us through the direct correlation between your mindset and the thoughts that you have and the impact that it has on your body and your cells. As she points out, there is very little talk about it. As women when we go into pregnancy, we are very aware of the risk of postpartum depression. After doing some research, Mona found out that postpartum depression can last up to seven years after birth. This is something that is not widely publicized and can affect so many mamas. She recommends taking a global look at how you are feeling, how are you fuelling your mind and your body? She advises to put warm, soothing food in your body and steer clear of packaged goods; this will help at a cellular level. From a mindset standpoint, gratitude is so important. Mona acknowledges that it has been very popular on social media (#gratitude) and almost overused term, but she challenges are we stopping and embracing what gratitude is? Here is an exercise she uses: Every morning when you wake up, go through the ‘movie reel' in your head of what you are grateful for. On my recent trip to the United States, I spent an afternoon at The Motherhood Center, New York. And as I walked through the door, and saw the support they offered to mamas, I was immediately taken back to the first days of mamahood again: scared, overwhelmed, and desperate for the daily support I received at my local hospital. Years on, I still have days of craving that support. I still feel like, at times, I have no idea what I'm doing and wish I could walk through the doors of a beautiful Centre filled with wise women, get a cup of tea, and listen and learn. Lean on them. Feel safe.In this episode, I talk about the need for ongoing support for all of us as mamas and women, and where we can get it - even now, no matter where you are.

When I became a mother 11 years ago, there was a very real but at the time imperceptible 'split' within me: on one hand, there was the woman who had big dreams and goals and identified with her purpose in the world, and on the other hand, there was the newborn mother. The nurturer, the carer, the woman who wanted to be there with her child for every single milestone. And it has taken me more than a decade to understand: it is this split that has been the hardest part to reconcile. For years, I searched for role models of women who were doing it both: who were able to honour both sides of that split. I couldn't find any. And so when I came across author, international speaker and success coach Debra Poneman and her story of walking away from an enormous international career to be a mum, I had to speak with her. It was during one of our conversations that she shared with me one of the most life-changing sentences I have ever heard:Your dharma will wait for you.In this episode, you will hear how Debra has honoured her heart over her head, and come back to a career that takes her around the world. This is for all the mamas who have wondered how they can do both - and feel the pull of both parts of themselves.----For over 35 years, Debra Poneman, bestselling author and founder of Yes to Success Seminars, has shared her success system, now used by tens of thousands in every corner of the globe, to create lives filled with abundance, happiness, deep self-love and unshakable inner fulfillment.Known as the mentor to the mentors, Debra’s students have used her teachings to become mega-successful entrepreneurs, renowned transformational leaders, NY Times bestselling authors, millionaires, billionaires—even household names. But Debra’s greatest gift is her deep belief in everyone’s magnificence and ability to convey that belief to activate in her audiences profound and lasting transformation. Now a best selling author and again, a world renowned speaker and seminar leader, Debra has taken the idea of success to a whole new level as she has given birth to The New Success Revolution.

Life with little ones is anything but predictable. When our whole world is at the mercy to our children, our environment, and our to-do list, many of us tip into control-mode to try and get through. When we can't control what's happening in our day, we end up trying to control the tiniest things - and burn ourselves out. Over the years, I have come to realise that I have very little control over anything in my life, except one thing: how I react. That's it. And whilst that can feel scary at first (what do you mean I have absolutely no control over how this is going to work out?), it is also quite liberating. So if you are finding yourself tipping into control mode - or it's cousins perfectionism and anxiety - then this episode is for you.

If I could use one word to sum up the struggles and challenges that I have faced over the past 10 years of motherhood, it would be: identity. Who am I now I am a mother? Who am I now so many parts of my independence and freedom have changed? How do I be a partner and a mother when so much of my life was about everything BUT these roles? As I have shared in earlier episodes, I have recently discovered the study of 'matrescence': the transition from women to mother. Since then, I have been on the hunt to understand it more, and how we might move through this change with more grace and ease. Which has brought me to Dr Catherine Birndorf, the co-founder and medical director of The Motherhood Centre, New York. Dr Birndorf is one of the few in the world leading the conversation about motherhood in this way: that we must start looking at what happens to a woman's identity during the early motherhood years if we are to truly honour and support mothers. And if you'd like to join my R E D E F I N E 40 Day Program to look at your identity now you are in the motherhood years, we start 4th November. Sign up here.

At her core, she didn't know how to be herself within her new family. And so for a time, she couldn't. As we change and adapt to how we are going to juggle all the roles in our lives right now, so too do the people around us. Sometimes, that change is easy - our relationship grows with us, and our friendships evolve alongside our lives. But often, this is not the case. Our partners can feel ignored and angry about the changes in our relationship and intimacy. Our friendships can feel empty and lonely now our interests have so dramatically changed. And we can feel like we need to apologise, or even hide, how we are changing to keep everything the same. In this episode, I speak about the importance of not holding ourselves back out of fear of what others will say or do. I talk about the fact that where we are right now is the start of a whole new chapter in our life, and that chapter may need new characters and plot lines. And that's OK. We are changing, and the people around us need to know that too. We just need to accept that change within ourselves first, so we can bring in the right people and support for this next chapter.

In our current world, we have been undervaluing what it means to be a woman, and a mother. But in many ancient traditions and teachings, the mother is celebrated and revered for her power to create and sustain life. In my search for a better understanding of who I was becoming, and why I struggled so much to value this current season of my life, Kundalini yoga has been one of those ancient teachings that has guided me to a new understanding. Alexandra Di Cecco has been a Kundalini yoga teacher since before she was a mama. She has been teaching and guiding women through pregnancy, birth and beyond for nearly 15 years, and her dedication to inspiring women to live a more conscious and grace-filled life is truly contagious. There is so much pressure on us as women and mothers. We are expected to juggle so much each day, and no one is acknowledging it. No one is giving is celebrating what we’re doing, or appreciating all it takes. And that’s mostly because we know that everyone else is doing the same.Everyone is in the same boat - doing the best they can each day.But if we don’t start to acknowledge what we do each day, and celebrate it, then the woman next to us won’t feel like she can celebrate what she’s done either. And the fact is, we’re not going to change how the world views motherhood and womanhood unless we change the way we view ourselves first. So how do we stop feeling like we’ve never done enough? How do we start to value who we are, and what we do? In this episode, Amy shares a daily practice that she uses to change the way she feels about all that she does, and acknowledges to herself - “I’ve done enough for now.”

Dr Vanessa Lapointe has an interesting take on the purpose of parenting. Sure, having children is about expanding your family and experiencing unconditional love, but at the core of it, she believes that parenting is here to challenge us - to challenge us to grow, to look at our old belief patterns, and to push us to expand and grow. Looking back, it's obvious that's what parenting is all about. We have a false belief that becoming a mama will be the happiest time in our lives - and hard truth: it's actually one of the least happiest. At least, that's what the research Dr Lapointe shares in this podcast says. However, despite the struggles and challenges, the same research also shows us that it is the most fulfilling time of our lives. So how do we navigate all the deep challenges of raising another human being? In this inspiring episode, Dr Lapointe walks us through an understanding of how our brains work, and how we can be kind towards ourselves as we grow along side our children.
