Jarvio raises €1.5M - backed by Amazon, Target, Meta execs

Irish Tech News Audio Articles

Jarvio, the Dublin start-up that puts an AI operator behind every Amazon storefront, has raised €1.5 million in pre-seed funding. Backers include senior executives from Amazon, Target, Wayflyer, Meta and MongoDB; Brian Caulfield and HBAN angel investors; and institutional investors Darius Cubed, Baseline VC, Enterprise Ireland, NDRC and an Accel Scout Fund. The funding will accelerate engineering hires, automation development and U.S. expansion. It follows strong traction in Jarvio's private beta, where more than 650 brands have joined the waitlist in recent months. Rick Kelley, HBAN angel investor, said, "I'm delighted to support the Jarvio team who are helping businesses overcome the friction that comes with enabling e-commerce on Amazon, the largest platform in the world. As Amazon continues to be on nearly every phone in the western world, Jarvio will help merchants drive success." The journey began with Jake Ryan and Connor Mulholland, who met at University College Dublin and later launched a boutique Amazon agency after flipping everything from plastic dinosaurs to 12,000 candles during the pandemic. After years of manually solving the same operational challenges for clients, they realised the answer wasn't more services -it was smarter software. "eCommerce brands shouldn't have to juggle dashboards or get buried in fragmented tools just to grow," said Ryan, co-founder and CEO. " Jarvio gives teams their time back and lets them focus on what really matters, growing the business, not managing the chaos." The pain point is clear: most Amazon merchants rely on a maze of disconnected apps to run their business - wasting time, obscuring data, stalling scale, and driving up staffing costs. Jarvio offers a new model. More than just an Amazon tool, it acts as the hub for your entire eCommerce operation. It integrates with everything from marketplace software to Gmail, Slack, and task managers - bringing all your operations and workflows into one place. No more switching tabs or stitching together tools. Just one prompt-driven interface to run your business. "We're not building another tool to put in the box of eCommerce tools," Mulholland added. "We're building the box." In 2024, JD O'Hea joined as co-founder and CTO to chart Jarvio's AI roadmap. With deep expertise in AI, machine learning, and eCommerce, O'Hea set out a technical vision for a platform designed to redefine how eCommerce brands operate. Alongside founding engineer Joseph Tummon, they kicked off development of what's now Jarvio's AI foundation. Since then, the team has built relentlessly: through late nights in Dogpatch Labs, a stint in a San Francisco hacker house, and now, as part of the NDRC Accelerator and with €1.5m in fresh funding, they're scaling Jarvio into the operating system for modern eCommerce. On today's podcast: 1) President Trump sends out a wave of tariff letters, while suggesting he's open to negotiations. President Trump released letters threatening higher tariffs, but he extended the deadline for talks to Aug. 1, the day that the new levies will take effect. The letters were released two days before agreements were due from trading partners facing Trump’s so-called reciprocal levies.2) The death toll rises in Texas as questions remain about preparedness for the disaster. More than 100 people have been confirmed dead in floods that tore through central Texas over the weekend. The disaster has sparked debate about whether anything more could have been done to prevent it, with questions raised about warning systems, forecasts, and notification of people in the affected areas.3) A setback for Apple as a top AI executive leaves to join Meta. Ruoming Pang, a distinguished engineer and manager in charge of Apple's foundation models team, is leaving for Meta Platforms Inc. Meta offered Pang a package worth tens of millions of dollars per year, according to people with knowledge of the matter. Pang's departure could be the start of a string of exits from the AFM group, with several engineers telling colleagues they are planning to leave in the near future to Meta or elsewhere, the people said.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I want to prove that PR, comms and narrative marketing works in 2025, in (sort of) real-time. But how? I've been thinking about this a lot over the past year. We all know the pressures today:- “Where's the ROI on comms?” Clients want metrics. Execs want proof. AI is starting to flood the market with generic content. You and I know comms and narrative marketing work, but how do we prove that to people who don't get it yet, who could and should be future clients? Here's the plan:-I want to introduce a new element to the podcast. It's based on an idea I tried last year and thank you to those amazing people who took part in that.In it we'll do a sort of “business makeover" show focused on comms. In each special, 30-minute episode:-1) A real business comes in with a comms challenge. Most likely, they are struggling to stand out as much as they want and need help, but it could be anything a narrative specialist can tackle.2) Then a guest expert (maybe you?) offers micro-consulting for 15 mins in the show.3) I then follow up a few weeks later to find out what happened so we can prove the power of comms.I'm giving you the quick version here. There is more in the video. To make it happen, we need two things. 1) Comms pros happy to spend a few minutes mentoring in a show. (independent individuals and agencies). And 2) Case studies - Do you have a client you'd love to reconnect with, or want to showcase your abilities to, that you can bring into an episode for some mentoring with you? If we can focus on promotion rather than reputation problems for now, then many could be ok with a little extra PR. If we have to keep them anonymous, we can, but it just won't be as strong. As I say, more in the video, but in short........I want to find a way that demonstrates these skills in action, rather than trying to explain them. You and I both know the future is not generic marketing. It's narrative marketing (PR, story-driven campaigns, comms, etc). It's time we "showed" we showed people that.#PR #Comms #Podcast #PublicRelations #Marketing #MicroConsulting #AI #Storytelling #MediaStrategy #CommsLedMarketing

Carey recounts his path from working at YouTube to establishing his own venture in 2019. He underscores the importance of self-care and mental health, sharing how his company has achieved consistent 15% year-over-year growth and now employs seven full-time team members, all without external investment. Carey highlights the power of video in marketing, the ongoing challenge of balancing sales efforts with product development, and the critical roles of trust, exercise, and sound financial management. He also reflects on the value of mentorship and the courage required to navigate the uncertainties of growing a business. Why would you wait any longer to start living the lifestyle you signed up for? Balance your health, wealth, relationships and business growth. And focus your time and energy and make the most of this year. Let's get into it by clicking here. Troy delves into our guest's startup journey, their perception of success, industry reconsideration, and the pivotal stress point during business expansion. They discuss the joys of small business growth, vital entrepreneurial habits, and strategies for team building, encompassing wins, blunders, and invaluable advice. And a snapshot of the final five Grow A Small Business Questions: What do you think is the hardest thing in growing a small business? Ryan Carey believes the hardest part of growing a small business is facing the unknown — never knowing what tomorrow might bring, how you'll feel, or what changes could come in the market or industry—which means having the courage to move forward despite constant uncertainty. What's your favorite business book that has helped you the most? Ryan Carey said his favorite business book that has helped him the most is Blue Ocean Strategy, explaining that it opened his eyes to how to approach markets differently. Are there any great podcasts or online learning resources you'd recommend to help grow a small business? Ryan Carey shared that he doesn't listen to many podcasts, but he did highlight his use of tools like Loom, an asynchronous video recorder, as a valuable resource. While not a traditional learning tool, he uses video heavily to communicate more effectively and save time — something he considers essential for running and growing a small business. What tool or resource would you recommend to grow a small business? Ryan Carey recommended QuickBooks as a key tool to help grow a small business. He stressed the importance of getting your “money house in order,” noting that having clean, organized financials makes running and growing a business much easier. What advice would you give yourself on day one of starting out in business? Ryan Carey said that if he could give himself advice on day one of starting out, it would be: “It's going to be hard as shit, but it's going to be so great.” Book a 20-minute Growth Chat with Troy Trewin to see if you qualify for our upcoming course. This week's AI/XR Podcast featured Randy Marsden, former Apple exec and co-founder of Skidattl, an AR platform for creating geo-anchored virtual signage. Charlie, Rony, and Ted discussed Apple's AI strategy, Tim Cook criticism, and Skedaddle's potential as a practical AR utility that doesn't rely on headsets or complex tools. In the news: Anthropic scored a partial legal victory on fair use, though it still faces potential copyright penalties; Meta saw a major suit dismissed. Charlie recapped his Forbes story on Chronicle, a new studio using AI to analyze fandom data and grow YouTube-native IP into film and TV. He also reviewed new all-in-one video creation platforms—Arcana Labs, Electric Sheep, and MovieFlo—that simplify AI video production. The hosts debated AI “slop” and audience taste, defending the creative potential of emerging workflows despite concerns. Skidattl's mission to “tag the real world” with lightweight AR won praise for its simplicity and real-world applicability.Thank you to our sponsor, Zappar!Don't forget to like, share, and follow for more! But the alternative to migration is that employers can grow their employees' productivity via investments in technology, Powell responded. “A big increase in productivity … would mean we don't need as many [migrant] workers,” he said. But growth by productivity takes time and effort, Powell warned: With productivity-enhancing things, they typically take longer to be implemented, and then it takes a while for the gains to be shown. In this episode of Clocking Out, we meet Rachel Humphrey — a former trial attorney who once believed she'd spend her entire life arguing cases in court. But after two decades in law and a major cross-country move, Rachel found herself at a crossroads: unfulfilled and reevaluating her life's direction. When her longtime nanny unexpectedly resigned, Rachel made a bold decision — she quit her job without a backup plan, determined to rediscover what truly fueled her. That leap led her somewhere she never expected: the hospitality industry. Through a serendipitous conversation, Rachel discovered that the skills she honed in the courtroom — advocacy, negotiation, and leadership — could translate far beyond the law. She soon joined AAHOA, the largest hotel owners association in the country, and ultimately rose to interim CEO.Throughout her career, Rachel quietly carried a lifelong battle with self-doubt — often feeling the need to prove she belonged. But time and again, others saw something in her before she did. Their faith, combined with her relentless curiosity and drive, helped her rise to heights she never imagined for herself. From that experience, a new mission emerged: Fueled by a passion for equity, Rachel went on to found the Women in Hospitality Leadership Alliance, a consortium dedicated to amplifying women's voices across the industry. Today, she mentors rising leaders, co-hosts a podcast spotlighting the human side of leadership, and speaks openly about reinvention, resilience, and learning to bet on yourself.Rachel's story is a powerful reminder that we're often more capable than we think — and that the most fulfilling chapters begin the moment we step outside the story we thought we had to live.Connect with Rachel at:Website: www.whlalliance.org / www.ItsPersonalStories.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rachel-a-humphreyFollow Raymond: LinkedIn: Raymond LeeInstagram: @raymondlee.coTiktok: @clockingoutpodX: @hrentrepreneurYoutube: @clockingoutwithraymondleeClick Here to become a guest on Clocking Out
