This week, we are so excited to be joined by Lacie Saltzmann, who is a rising sophomore at the University of Minnesota. Lacie had an incredible freshman season, where she was a mainstay in the Gophers' bars and floor lineups, posting career highs of 9.9625 and 9.925, respectively. She, of course, helped her team advance out of the toughest regional to move on to the NCAA Championships and then helped the Gophers make history by advancing to the Final Four for the first time ever. Individually, Lacie ended the season with First Team All-America honors on bars and is hungry to do even more in her sophomore season. Lacie joins us to look back on last season and talk about how she ended up at Minnesota, her passion for baking, how she overcame her fear of twisting, and so much more.Thank you to our monthly Patreon supporters: Lee B, Cookiemaster, Happy Girl, Erica S, Semflam, Amy C, Becca S, Cathleen R, Faith, Kerry M, Derek H, Emily, Sharon B, MSU, Kimberly G, Lela M, Mara L, Jenna A, Alex M, Dana, Lidia, Maria P, Alicia O, Cristina K, Hayley B, Bethany J, Kentiemac, Marni S, Betny T, Emily C, Cathy D, Lisa T, Libby C, Thiago, Debbie, Taryn M, Amy M, Chuck C, Kaitlin, Susan P, LFC_Hokie, Ella, Kay, Julie B, Austin K, Jane, Sarah, Amy, Stephen S, Johanna T, Alison S, Alberto D, Kristina T, Abigail W, Jennifer K, Kate M, Naomi S, Claudia L, Erin L, Thomas B, Lauren D, Kihika M, Beth C, Amy, Renee PM, Ryan V, Brandon H, Okcaro, Tyler, Paola, Heather, Kate, Danielle, ALittleUnderRotated, Lacy, Dana C, Grace, Pat G, Lexi G, Laura N, Kathy, Katie A, Róisín, Megan J, Emily D, Britton, Ry Shep, Reyna G, William A, MB, Jackson G, Stella, Ulo F, Noah C, Melissa H, Alexis, William M, Susie, Leslie G, Catherine B, Laura L, Katy S, Kathy M, Kathy S, Okcaro,  JD B, Cookiecutter, SuniFan, Caroline M, kcmojojojo, Sammy S, Fabio B, Lacie M, Sara G, Kerry H, Leah D, Margaret G, Molly, ClemsonTigersFan, Lisa B, Sarah M, Grace M, Laura A, Justin D, Jas, Kendrick C, Rich A, Ty T, Nick S, Becky E, Melody M, Stacey M, Erica H, Kathy, Teressa, Angela C, Bridgett C, Ashley D, Whitney J, Shelly A, Erika B, DFP, Lisa M, Samantha T, Mallory D & Ann P!

Friday Night Audit gives hotel company presidents a dangerous combination: cocktails, bad ideas and three people absolutely convinced they know how to run the business better. Red Roof President Zack Gharib made the mistake of joining us this week. We insisted our advice was genius. Zack knew better. Between drinks, Craig Sullivan started designing a red-jacket tradition for Red Roof, Suzanne Bagnera battled technical problems, I kept one eye on a pork butt creeping toward 205 degrees, and Zack kept the whole thing moving despite the rest of us. Then we reached the Final Four of the Friday Night Audit Hotel Pet Peeves contest — the Four Horsemen of Hotel Misery — with Outlet Desert facing Identical Dispenser Bottles for a trip to the championship round. Suzanne picked a side. Zack picked a side. Craig picked a side. I mostly tried to keep the pork alive. See who Zack backed, hear the ideas we tried to foist on him, and find out how much nonsense one hotel president tolerates before happy hour ends. #FridayNightAudit #RedRoof #HospitalityIndustry Want the weekly roundup of news, videos, and what you might've missed from #NoVacancyNews? Turnbuckle Tavern is powered by G FUEL and Official Dick Lazer. Use code TAVERN for 20% off at GFUEL.com and DickLazers.com. Episode 204 of Wrestling Tonight begins in Japan, where G1 Climax 36 is officially down to Yota Tsuji, Ryohei Oiwa, Callum Newman and Yuya Uemura, guaranteeing a first-time tournament winner. Tsuji faces Uemura and Newman meets Oiwa in the semifinals Saturday, August 15 at Ryogoku Sumo Hall, with the winners advancing to Sunday's final. Both blocks ended with three wrestlers tied at 12 points. In A Block, Tsuji, Oiwa and Konosuke Takeshita all finished 6-3, but Tsuji and Oiwa advanced because both held head-to-head victories over Takeshita. Oiwa clinched his spot by beating Takeshita in the final A Block main event, while Tsuji defeated Jake Lee and benefited from Great-O-Khan eliminating Boltin Oleg by countout. B Block produced almost the same situation, with Newman, Uemura and Gabe Kidd all finishing 6-3. Kidd's losses to both semifinalists eliminated him on the head-to-head tiebreaker. With Tsuji already holding the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, the stakes are different for the other three. If Oiwa, Newman or Uemura wins the G1, that wrestler earns a future championship opportunity against Tsuji. If Tsuji wins, the reigning champion would presumably be positioned to select his own future challenger. Saturday's tournament matches will not headline the show, however. Hiroyoshi Tenzan wrestles the final match of his NJPW career against longtime TenKoji partner Satoshi Kojima in a five-minute exhibition, followed by Tenzan's retirement ceremony. The show begins at 2 a.m. Eastern on NJPW World. We then turn to Adam Copeland's first appearance inside Arena México, where he received a reaction he compared to one of the defining moments of his career. Tony Schiavone revealed that after AEW Grand Slam Mexico, he contacted Copeland to ask whether he had ever experienced a crowd response like it. Copeland's comparison was his 2020 WWE Royal Rumble return, when he returned to the ring nine years after neck issues had seemingly ended his career. Arena México had been a bucket-list destination for Copeland, and Bandido provided additional context for what the building represents by comparing it with Korakuen Hall, the Tokyo Dome and Madison Square Garden. Bandido described competing inside Arena México as the type of achievement that allows someone to call themselves a "real luchador." Copeland is also preparing to check off another deeply personal venue on October 3, when he wrestles for Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, located on the grounds of the former Maple Leaf Gardens. Copeland has called Maple Leaf Gardens his wrestling "hallowed ground" and explained that Tony Khan allowed the appearance because AEW and Maple Leaf Pro are partners, Khan wants professional wrestling to flourish and he understood what the opportunity meant to Copeland personally. We also break down the growing uncertainty surrounding Bayley's WWE future. Bayley has reportedly been offered a new WWE contract but has not signed it, and there is conflicting information about exactly when her current deal expires. Bayley's own comments from April 2025 point toward October 2026, Fightful has reported that the deal is expected to expire by the end of 2026 unless additional time is added, and Bryan Alvarez has heard January 2027 but has not been able to verify that date. Dave Meltzer says Bayley has a decision to make and confirmed that she will not become a free agent in August. The speculation intensified after Bayley posted a training video featuring Mercedes Moné, captioned it "all or nothing, baby" and used the song "All In." WrestleVotes reported through Fightful Select that the post raised eyebrows backstage in WWE and did not land well with everyone. Despite the obvious AEW references, the available contract timelines make an appearance at All In on August 30 extremely unlikely. The bigger story is whether Bayley eventually re-signs with WWE or becomes one of wrestling's biggest free agents later this year or in early 2027. Swerve Strickland is also back in AEW, making his first appearance since losing to Will Ospreay in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament final at Forbidden Door. Swerve and Prince Nana confronted AEW World Trios Champions Hangman Page, Bandido and Brody King before Ricochet, The Demand and Lethal Twist entered the picture. With Jay Lethal, Blake Christian and Lee Johnson challenging Hangman, Brody King and Bandido for the Trios Championship on Collision, Swerve immediately finds himself surrounded by old enemies and a developing championship program. We also discuss the Fightful Select report that Austin Creed and Kofi are expected to join AEW soon. The report stopped short of confirming that either has officially signed, and no debut date has been established. The timing naturally creates speculation around All In, while both men have also been announced for Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise in November. AEW All In 2026 continues to take shape at Wembley Stadium. Kenny Omega defends the AEW World Championship against Will Ospreay, Willow Nightingale defends the AEW Women's World Championship against Mercedes Moné, and Adam Copeland & Christian Cage defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship against The Young Bucks. One of the biggest additions is Kyle Fletcher defending the AEW International Championship against Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada. Takeshita defeated Okada for the title at Double or Nothing before Fletcher defeated Takeshita at Beach Break. Importantly, Takeshita has since left the Don Callis Family, while Fletcher and Okada remain aligned with Callis, adding another layer to the three-way. Kevin Knight defends the TNT Championship against Darby Allin in a Falls Count Anywhere match, with Knight entering their fourth singles meeting holding a 2-1 advantage. The men's Casino Gauntlet will begin with Andrade El Idolo entering No. 1 and MJF entering No. 2. MJF secured his position by defeating Mike Bailey and Nick Wayne on Dynamite, guaranteeing that his rivalry with Andrade will be part of the match from the opening bell. The winner receives a future AEW World Championship opportunity. The Wembley card currently includes Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay, Willow Nightingale vs. Mercedes Moné, Adam Copeland & Christian Cage vs. The Young Bucks, Kyle Fletcher vs. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Kazuchika Okada, Kevin Knight vs. Darby Allin, Divine Dominion vs. The Brawling Birds, the men's Casino Gauntlet and the Continental Challenge Cup Final. We also look at the latest Wembley ticket business. WrestleTix reported exactly 38,909 tickets distributed as of August 12, an increase of 1,400 over the previous four days. The current setup is 45,023, leaving 6,114 available and putting AEW at approximately 86.4 percent of its currently configured inventory. All In 2024 finished with 53,922 tickets distributed, meaning the 2026 show currently sits 15,013 tickets behind that mark. With All In taking place August 30, AEW now has 16 days to continue closing that gap, although matching the 2024 total would also require thousands of additional seats to be opened. Additional 500-level inventory has already begun to appear. Be sure to support the show and join our Patreon for just $2.99 a month at Patreon.com/TheTurnbuckleTavern for exclusive content. Follow us on social media @TurnbuckleTavern for all the latest updates. Until the following week, when we wine and dine with you kings and queens, stay out of the alley and away from the pork and beans. Good luck and good speed.

In this episode, John continues his conversation with John Ray, diving into how genuine relationship-building — through remembering the small details, sending handwritten notes, and giving without expecting anything back — sets you apart in business. They also discuss the role faith plays in leadership and business, the real definition of success, and how joy differs from happiness. About John Ray: After a successful career in investment banking, investment management, and strategic advisory, John Ray left the corporate world in 2013 to build his own business. It didn't take long to find the gap nobody had prepared him for: he routinely undervalued his own expertise, struggled to set prices that matched the outcomes he delivered, and watched his clients do the exact same thing. He spent the next several years figuring out how to fix it, for himself first, then for the consultants, coaches, attorneys, CPAs, fractional executives, and other expert practitioners who hire him today to gain clarity, confidence, and profitability through positioning, pricing, and value-based business development. That work became his first book, The Generosity Mindset: A Journey to Business Success by Raising Your Confidence, Value, and Prices (2023). His second book is set for release in the first quarter of 2027. On this episode of the STL Bucket List Show, we sit down with Dr. Tayler Onion—host of the Hang Time podcast, professor at UMSL, former Division I volleyball player, and advocate for women in sports—to discuss one of the fastest-growing movements in athletics today.Tayler shares her journey from growing up on a small farm in rural Illinois to competing at the University of Illinois, earning her doctorate studying women in sports leadership, and launching Hang Time, a podcast dedicated to telling the stories of women who are changing the sports industry. She reflects on the unexpected story behind becoming the Outback Bowl's famous "Bloomin' Onion" mascot, how that experience inspired her first podcast, and why she ultimately rebranded to focus exclusively on women's sports. The conversation explores the incredible rise of women's athletics, the lasting impact of Title IX, why representation in coaching and leadership matters, and how media coverage, fandom, and athlete-driven storytelling are creating opportunities that didn't exist just a few years ago. Tayler also shares her vision for building a stronger community for women working in sports throughout St. Louis, the lessons she's learned as both an athlete and educator, and why she believes the city is ready for even more investment in women's professional sports. From unforgettable championship moments to the future of sports media, this episode is an inspiring conversation about leadership, community, and the people helping shape the next generation of sports. They discuss: - Growing up on a farm in Industry, Illinois, and playing volleyball at the University of Illinois - Winning the "Be the Bloom" contest and becoming the Bloom and Onion mascot at the 2019 Outback Bowl - Launching the Bloom Pod during the pandemic and its focus on everyday people with big ideas - Finishing a doctorate on women's self-perception of power in sports leadership during Title IX's 50th anniversary - The decision to rebrand and relaunch as Hangtime, focused solely on women in sports - Interviewing ESPNW founder Laura Gentile and what it took to build a media category from scratch - The Deloitte projection of $3 billion in women's sports revenue for 2026 - Why traditional brands still don't know how to market to women's sports fans - Growing up without girls' sports and finding a North Star in local player Sam Quiggle - The 1999 U.S. Women's World Cup and Brandi Chastain as formative childhood moments - Reaching the national championship match with Illinois volleyball in 2011 - Teaching in UMSL's Sports Management program and getting students into the Super Bowl, Final Four, and NFL Draft - Hangtime's first in-person event at Urban Chestnut and the upcoming membership launch on August 1st - Bringing more pro women's sports — WNBA, NWSL, PWHL — to St. LouisSupport the show

On this episode of The Jon Gordon Podcast, I sit down with legendary UConn basketball coach Dan Hurley for an honest and energizing conversation about building a championship culture, relentless leadership, and the transformative power of purpose-driven coaching.   From his early days learning from a Hall of Fame father, to guiding players through the rigors of college basketball's toughest moments, Dan opens up about the realities of forming a great team in the era of the transfer portal, NIL, and social media. He shares the values at the core of the UConn program—relentless competitive effort, mindful communication, a dedication to the "pack," and the consistent pursuit of growth—explaining how accountability and care come together in an environment that pushes players past their limits and deepens their belief in themselves.   Throughout this conversation, Dan reflects on the importance of love-tough coaching, the urgency of making an impact on young lives, and the crucial role that faith and self-development play in his own journey. Whether he's describing his mindful approach to team-building, the vulnerability he shares with his athletes, or the discipline and devotion it takes to chase excellence, Dan's story is both inspiring and down-to-earth.   About Dan: Dan Hurley is one of the most accomplished coaches in modern college basketball, leading the University of Connecticut back to national prominence since becoming the program's 19th head coach in 2018. In eight seasons at UConn, Hurley has compiled a 199-75 record, guided the Huskies to six consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, three Final Fours in four seasons, back-to-back NCAA National Championships in 2023 and 2024, and a national runner-up finish in 2026. His teams won 13 consecutive NCAA Tournament games from 2023-25, with all 12 victories during the championship runs coming by double digits—an NCAA record. Since 2022-23, UConn has posted a 126-28 record, the most successful four-year stretch in program history. Hurley was named the 2024 Naismith College Coach of the Year and BIG EAST Coach of the Year after leading UConn to a school-record 37 wins, BIG EAST regular season and tournament championships, and the program's sixth national title. He owns the highest winning percentage in BIG EAST history (minimum 100 conference games) and has developed 12 NBA players, including four lottery selections, during his tenure. Prior to Connecticut, Hurley transformed programs at Rhode Island and Wagner, leading Rhode Island to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and Atlantic 10 regular-season and tournament championships. Across 16 collegiate seasons, he has amassed a 350-180 career record. A Jersey City native, Hurley was raised in one of basketball's most accomplished families. His father, Hall of Famer Bob Hurley Sr., built the legendary St. Anthony High School program, while his brother Bobby won two NCAA championships at Duke. Before entering the college ranks as a head coach, Hurley compiled a 223-21 record in nine seasons at St. Benedict's Prep, developing multiple future NBA players. Known for his relentless competitiveness, player development, and elite two-way teams, Hurley has become one of the defining figures in college basketball. In 2025, he became a New York Times bestselling author with his memoir, Never Stop: Life, Leadership and What It Takes to Be Great.
