Nate connects with a true coaching legend, former Hartwick Men's Soccer Coach, Jim Lennox. Jim spent 27 years at Hartwick, closing his career with 318 wins and leading his squad to the 1977 NCAA Division-I title. His teams made 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, including five trips to the Final Four. Jim also played a key role with the U.S. Soccer program and, in 2013, received the Walt Chyzowych Award for Lifetime Achievement. He coached back-to-back Hermann Trophy winners, Glenn Myernick in 1976 and Billy Gazonas in 1977. Don't miss this rare conversation with one of the most accomplished coaches the game has ever seen, who happens to be living quietly in our area.

The title says it al! The Hysterics go off on how Coach DeVries and his shiny new squad did in their first public exhibition, while also revisiting the raging debate on just how important Year 1 is in a new coaching tenure. After a historic Year 1 in his own IU coaching tenure, Curt Cignetti's peers ranked his Year 2 team as #19 in the pre-season Coaches Poll, a full 7 spots behind those loathsome Illini who are coming to Bloomington in the not-too-distant future. #dukefootball #goduke #duke #ddmf #theacc #acc #cfb #collegefootballOur old friend Steve Wiseman stopped by to bring us up to speed on where Duke is at this point in "fall camp". (I know you can't call it a "summer camp", but it's August - let's be serious.) Before we get into the Blue Devils, Steve talks about his recent promotion, how you can subscribe to Inside Sports and our kids and college tours. After that, Steve takes us through the position groups at Duke and what to expect from each this season. Sounds like there's some depth at key spots which is a good thing. And we've got a new quarterback who may be pretty darned good. After we wrap up the football talk, we cover how things fell apart for Duke in the Final Four. You've been warned. And if that weren't enough, Steve makes a big announcement about a project he's working on. And speaking of big announcements ... As I mentioned last year, I will be cutting back on podcast episodes. And while I planned to do fewer episodes this season than in the past seasons, I decided to cut back on them even more significantly. Doing a weekly podcast during football season, along with all the work associated with it by myself, takes up a lot of time. Between work and obligations to my children (they both play fall sports), I need to cut back. What that means for this season is that I'll probably do a season prediction episode, another one around one of the bye weeks and then an end-of-year wrap-up episode. After that, I'm not sure. Doing this podcast has been a privilege and an honor. I appreciate the fans and friends of the pod I've made over the years. Thank you for your support and for your time. I can't wait to see you guys at Wallace Wade this season. Please call the pod (540-632-0160), leave a message and you'll get in an episode.Let me know what you think about what we think in the comments, on Mastodon, on Reddit, on Instagram, or on Bluesky. As always, Go Duke!

Some love him. Some hate him. Some love to hate him. Some hate to love him. He is never shy to share his opinion. And he is never boring. The co-owner and founder of The Field of 68, JEFF GOODMAN returns to the podcast. Jeff weighs in on what he perceives to be the historically weak class of 2026 and why so many top college coaches aren't on the recruiting circuit like they used to be.We also dig in on the current state of money in college basketball and how the balance of power continues to shift. Then, we take a deep dive on Coach Darian DeVries and what has impressed Jeff as he has gotten to know Coach DD better. We talk about why Coach DD can succeed where Woody and Archie failed before him. And we get into what his expectations are for Indiana this season and he gives us his off-season grade for IU.Controversial at times, but Jeff Goodman has given his 10,000 hours to the game of covering college basketball and we welcome his perspective to the show.In addition, I take some time to pay tribute to an IU legend, Bob Hammel, who passed away this week.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi! Kaulig Racing crew chief Andrew Dickeson joins Davey Segal (8:55) as their cinderella run in the inaugural In-Season Challenge continues. He walks through what it was like for him atop the pit box as Ty Dillon moved Alex Bowman out of the way for a spot in the Final Four, how confidence and performance have gone hand in hand (and up) in the last month, the culture he's attempting to create on the No. 10 team, arriving at the track with a chip on their shoulder and why he believes in his driver. Dickeson, an Australian native, also dives into his background in motorsports (spoiler alert: he had none), how he got his hands dirty in Supercars, simultaneously working in racing, bartending and getting his engineering degree, the decision to pack up and move across the world to pursue a career in NASCAR, how he went about finding a job with race teams and his progression up the engineering ladder that eventually led him to becoming a crew chief. Plus, a hilarious story involving Richard Childress calling Dickeson while in Australia (and maybe a bit inebriated) asking him to become the full-time shot caller on the No. 10. Dickeson also explains the similarities between U.S. and Australian racing culture, why Marcos Ambrose deserves more credit for helping NASCAR's image down under, what it's like working at Kaulig Racing, expectations for the rest of the season and more. Davey also reviews another SVG dominant performance in Sonoma, previews the Monster Mile in Dover and Papa Segal pays homage to one of the best to ever strap in behind the wheel on road courses: Dan Gurney.

For years he tormented IU fans with his sarcastic wit and blunt honesty as a national recruiting analyst for 247. But no one could question his knowledge, connections or insight. Then, he crossed the line from analyst to become the director of recruiting for Micah Shrewsberry at Penn State before following Micah to Notre Dame for the last two years. Today's guest is none other than BRIAN SNOW.In this week's episode Brian gives us his perspective on the current state of college basketball in the world of revenue sharing and the changing world of NIL. Brian breaks down which jobs might now be the best in the country and we talk about Indiana's place in the ever-changing landscape.Brian breaks down what it was like to recruit against Indiana and what the overall perception is of the Indiana program while also getting into specifics on why it just did not work with Archie and Woody and why it very well could with new head coach Darian DeVries. Brian is a guy who does not beat around the bush and calls it like he sees it. Some of which is VERY positive for IU and its future while he also brings up some areas of potential concern. It is a wide-ranging conversation that covers a lot of ground with a guy who has the unique experience of being a national analyst and also a guy who was in the trenches recruiting for a power 4 school. Sure, we love to bust his chops, but can't argue with the man's knowledge! A little bit of FAU Basketball to wade into! Florida Atlantic has a new (but now unfamilar) assistant coach on John Jakus' staff! Ken takes a quick look at Demond Parker and describes the positivity that surrounds the decision. In addition, with Boston College coming to the Elly to tip-off the '25-'26 FAU Basketball season, Ken LaVicka goes in-depth into what it means from a historical perspective and re-lives other high-major visits to Boca. Also, a look back at the all-time hoops series between FAU & BC. Plus, Ken re-litigates the decision to lift the 2023 Final Four banner at Midnight Madness instead of the '23 home opener in light of the NHL's decision to have the Panthers raise their Stanley Cup banner at 5p on a weekday. In another wild turn of events, Conference USA is shedding more teams. It's hardly recognizable to the league FAU was a part of. Ken proposes a team that the AAC may want to look at and laments the current state of FIU, who appears to be just existing. Finally, Ken tries to prepare FAU Football fans for what will likely be a relatively rocky preseason prediction period and explains why it doesn't matter in the slightest. RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot open Episode 339 by revisiting one of Seattle sports fans' oldest wounds — the Sonics' departure — while Oklahoma City dances in the NBA Finals. That leads to a spirited deep dive into Boston's music history, with Hotshot tested on everything from Aerosmith to New Edition. Mitch drops a classic Sonics tale: the time he painted his face in silent protest on a live Sonics pay-per-view broadcast. Pete Carroll makes a podcast appearance — not here, but on Get Got with Marshawn Lynch and Michael Robinson — and throws light shade at Earl Thomas while diplomatically reflecting on his Seahawks departure. Marshawn lets him cook. Mariners No-Table, Brady Farkas reacts to a 30-run explosion in Chicago, marvels at Cal Raleigh's historic pace, and debates whether Cal should skip the Home Run Derby to stay fresh. JP Crawford's All-Star case gets real, Solano suddenly looks irreplaceable, and the lineup finally shows life from top to bottom. Jason Puckett returns for the KJ-Aren'ts, where Mitch discovers Puckett's age through a Thunder hate-watch article and recounts legendary sideline reporting drama during the 1996 NCAA Final Four. GUESTS KJ-Aren'ts; Jason Puckett | Former KJR Host Mariners No-Table; Brady Farkas | Host, Refuse to Lose Podcast TABLE OF CONTENTS 0:00 | Sonics PTSD flares up as Thunder hit the Finals. Mitch challenges Hotshot to a musical trivia duel centered on Boston legends. 10:45 | Aerosmith, Boston, New Kids, New Edition, The Cars — and a surprise Dropkick Murphys finale. Mitch makes the case that Boston might outrank Seattle in music legacy. 21:03 | Pete Carroll joins Get Got and casually dunks on Earl Thomas. Marshawn just lets it ride. Pete also explains how control and roster vision led to his Seahawks exit. 29:24 | Mitch declares Cal's historic tear the most electrifying run by a Mariners hitter since Griffey '94 — name-dropping Mantle, Bench, and A-Rod along the way. 49:23 | Guest: Mariners No-Table with Brady Farkas. The Mariners explode for 30 runs in Chicago, Cal Raleigh enters historic territory, and Mitch argues he should skip the Derby to stay fresh. Farkas sees the other side. 1:22:03 | Guest KJ-Aren'ts Part 1: Mitch finds out Puckett's age by reading The Athletic, where Puckett is quoted from a Thunder hate-watch at Mike's Chili Parlor. 1:41:12 | Guest KJ-Aren'ts Part 2: Mitch tells the story of being banned from the Final Four — then shows up on live TV in full Syracuse face paint. Kevin and Marcus nearly lose it on air. 2:03:54 | Other Stuff Segment: Mitch confesses to miscrediting “The Twist” and recycling a decade-old John Olerud story, while Scott gleefully mocks his declining fastball. They also swap nostalgic war stories — Scott streaming Game 7 from a spaghetti joint, Mitch sideline-reporting with Syracuse face paint — before spiraling into Rick Ocasek's death, landline superiority, and the glory days of Queen Anne's Spaghetti Factory.
