The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview ABC's The Middle Star Atticus Shaffer.  Atticus Shaffer, stars as the lovable “Brick Heck" on ABC's Critics' Choice Award-winning comedy series “The Middle,”  As you may know, “The Middle” follows the daily mishaps of a married woman and her semi-dysfunctional family and their attempts to survive life in general in the city of Orson, Indiana. Atticus plays "Brick," the youngest child of Frankie (Patricia Heaton) and Mike Heck (Neil Flynn), and is known both in the household and out for his eccentric behavior—his best friend is his backpack; however, that doesn't mean he can't pull it together when needed, in order to help his mom make a sale. The series is set to return with new episodes on January 7, 2015. Atticus began his professional acting career in 2006, when he landed a guest-starring role in the comedy series “The Class.” Other television appearances followed, including “The Human Giant,” “Days of Our Lives,” “Out of Jimmy's Head,” “Carpoolers and My Name is Earl,” as well as Disney's “I'm in the Band” and “Shake It Up.” On the big screen, he is perhaps best known for the bus stop scene he shared with Academy Award nominee Will Smith in Sony's super-hero comedy drama Hancock. Building on that momentum, Atticus went on to star in other feature films including The Unborn, An American Carol, Leaving Barstow and Opposite Day.            Thanks,

In Episode 5, we welcome our longtime guest and beer enthusiast George Zvirblis on as a regular co-host as we sample Petit Rouge by Heretic Brewing Company and Blasphemy by Weyerbacher Brewing Company. We talk about how Heretic became a homebrewing legend, subtle versus overwhelming flavors, Marvel’s new movie “Ant-Man” and respecting source material in adaptations while treading new creative ground, American remakes of Japanese horror films in the early 2000s, “The Tingler” and gimmicks to sell movies, what makes a cult classic and how they cannot be created on purpose, the incomprehensible disaster that is “The Trouble with Cali,” the upcoming “Ash vs. Evil Dead” TV show, actors and directors dealing with or accepting the B-list, the comedy gold of “Human Giant,” and more. We also make some bad jokes and bring up religion and thinking for yourself as we consider the theme of both beer names this week. Derek Warren’s popular How to Pair Beer with Everything column on nepascene.com is now a podcast! Joined by NEPA Scene founder and editor Rich Howells, they’ll try a different brew each week and examine it through all the senses, diving into personal experiences and opinions, pop culture, news, or whatever comes to mind. While Derek is an experienced beer reviewer and aficionado (and co-host of the Beer Geeks Radio Hour on WILK 103.1 FM), Rich is more of a casual craft beer drinker (and co-host of the NEPA Scene Podcast), so they’ll both offer their own uncensored perspectives and ask guests to share their own. Every episode is available on iTunes, SoundCloud, Stitcher, and nepascene.com.

On today's episode we talk to Jon Daly. Jon is an improviser and actor based in Los Angeles, who got his start on the influential improv team Mother at UCBNY in the early 2000s. Since then he's acted on TV in Human Giant and Happy Endings and on film in Mystery Team and the forthcoming The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. He performs regularly at UCBLA and also appears on Comedy Bang! Bang! as many different characters including Bill Cosby-Bukowski and Sappity Tappity, the drunk English rollerblading pine tree. A few weeks ago, Jon came over to the Manhattan Wrestling Team apartment, and on a rare Mark-less episode, Jon tries to convince Andy to relax and maybe try pot. We also learn about Jon's first conscious memories as a human being and get in deep about the mid-90s Pittsburgh music scene! #letsdoit! If you're at the Del Close Marathon, come see us interview Matt Wash of UCB and Veep at UCB East on Saturday morning at 1:15 am! And the next Beginnings: Live is at UCB East on July 10th at 8pm and we've got Dapwell and Heems from Das Racist and Nick Vatterott!
