Listeners will discover how equanimity functions as a stabilizing force in our emotional lives. Margaret emphasizes that it allows us to experience deep compassion, loving-kindness, and joyousness without being overwhelmed by our feelings. By observing our reactions to the roadside scenarios—where a stranger elicits mild compassion, a neighbor stirs more involvement, and a best friend creates profound emotional turbulence—she elucidates the varying shades of our emotional engagement and the importance of a balanced response. Throughout the discussion, Margaret stresses the importance of "not self" (non-attachment) as a foundational practice for cultivating equanimity. This practice encourages us to observe situations with clarity and discernment, freeing us from being engulfed by our emotions. She also highlights that true compassion encompasses both emotional understanding and practical actions, such as offering assistance to those in need. Importantly, equanimity does not imply cold detachment; rather, it invites a mindful approach to life's challenges, providing us with the tools to navigate our emotions with grace.

Today's Promise: Psalm 103:8 Do you see God as an angry judge, an impersonal force, or a loving father? Your view of God affects how you live the Christian life. Often, your view of God has more to do with how you were raised than what the Bible says about God. The only way to have an accurate view of God is to base it on what the Bible says about who God is and what He is like. This promise gives us four-character qualities of God. We are focusing on that last phrase: He abounds with lovingkindness.
Quick side note: My kid was sick the day I recorded this, so you may hear him coughing in the background. You may also hear the occasional airplane flyover. I invite you to just be present with an extra sounds and observe them as part of your present moment.Transcript(00:00:01):Welcome to your Monday Mindful Moment. We're going to do something a little different today. We're going to connect with our breath, as always. And then we're going to practice loving kindness, flowing loving kindness out to the world and to ourselves. So go ahead and find a comfortable position for your body.Begin to focus on your breath and the sensations that you feel as your breath moves in and out of your body. And allow your body to relax more and more into the surface that's supporting you today.Focus on the connection that you have with your breath. Noticing what it feels like to take an inhale.Noticing how your body moves as you breathe in, how your belly and chest rise. And then noticing the sensations you feel as you exhale, releasing air back out of your body, allowing your belly and chest to fall again. And now bring to mind a person or creature that you love, and allow the experience of holding this person or creature in your mind to fill you up with pure loving kindness. And now begin to flow intentions to them.May you be safe.May you be healthy.May you be happy.May you live with ease. And now expand your loving kindness and flow it to everyone in the world, even people you find challenging and perhaps wish to find less challenging. And flow the same intentions to them.May you be safe.May you be healthy.May you be happy.May you live with ease. And finally, include yourself in this flow of loving kindness.May we all be safe.May we all be healthy.May we all be happy.May we all live with ease.I'm going to bring this mindful moment to a close, but feel free to remain in loving kindness meditation, connecting with your breath and anyone and everyone you wish to flow loving kindness to today, including yourself. Feel free to remain here for as long as you like.Have a great day.Have a great day.Join me for weekly mindfulness! In addition to Monday Mindful Moments, I also host a mindfulness group called Mindful Creators every Wednesday on Zoom. The practices are recorded and emailed out the same day, so even if you can't make it live, you can still enjoy some guided mindfulness.I'm Amy Schloerb, The Aligned Actor

"Because Your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips will glorify You." Psalm 63:3The loving-kindness of God is not a fleeting sentiment, but His steadfast and covenantal love manifested in gracious action. It is the sovereign outflow of His mercy and faithfulness, pledged to His chosen people from eternity past, and manifested throughout time. It does not arise from anything in us—but from everything in Him.Unlike the fragile affections of man, God's loving-kindness is unchanging. It met us in our rebellion, drew us to the cross, and now preserves us through every trial. It was His loving-kindness that patiently bore with our waywardness, that remained true when we were false, and that continually supplies our every need in Christ.God's loving-kindness reaches to the heavens, surrounds the believer, and never lets go! It comforts in sorrow, and disciplines in love. This divine love never wanes. It is not altered by our failures, nor diminished by our weaknesses. Rooted in His eternal purpose, it remains a sure anchor for the soul. In Christ, we are not merely pardoned—we are embraced. God rejoices over us, surrounds us with favor, and holds us fast in His everlasting arms! When the heart is heavy, remember His loving-kindness. When the night is long, rest in its unshakable assurance. And let our lips glorify Him—not only for what He bestows, but for who He is: the unchanging God whose loving-kindness is indeed better than life.Let this truth lead us to reverent worship, joyful obedience, and unwavering peace.

Hey beautiful soulful You!
Joni Rodgers is, first and foremost, a storyteller. She's also a critically acclaimed novelist and New York Times selling ghostwriter. She's worked with many well known people including Paris Hilton, Justin Bieber and Elizabeth Smart. Her ability to translate people's paths into a compelling narrative is unparalleled. "As a novelist, memoirist, and collaborator, I'm dedicated to storytelling that makes an impact and provokes thought. I believe in the power of a parable and in the art of memoir as a sort of cosmic cartography. We each have a small piece of the map of human experience; sharing our stories, we bring clarity and empathy to a collective understanding." The list of Joni's publications is long. Her drive comes partly from being given just five years to live due to a seemingly dire non-Hodgkins lymphoma. "What can I do in just five years? What type of handprint of loving kindness could I leave for my children?" she pondered. The answer lies in her extensive list of publications, crafting powerful memoirs that resonate with all of us. We must exercise our love daily. God wants to express His love through us. As we learn to love with His love we move into that more excellent way. His love is seen in us and it grows greater each day. As we see how much God loves us we find ourselves loving more. We are a part of our brother and so we melt in love for him. Psalm 69 & Proverbs 15 - Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good by Shawn Ozbun
What does it mean to grieve the Holy Spirit? In his message today, Pastor Johnny teaches us important truths about the Holy Spirit. He explains that the Holy Spirit is the person of God. When we sin, it breaks His heart and hinders our fellowship with Him. By allowing sin to remain in our lives, we lose His power.
