Matthew presents Jesus Christ as the Jesus as the Mashiach Nagid, the Messiah the King, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. It was written by a Jew, to Jews, about a Jew. This book of the Bible uses more Old Testament quotes than any other. The Gospel of Matthew emphasizes the saying of Jesus, including ten parables not found in any other Gospel. After first establishing the royal genealogy, he then goes on to focus on the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. Matthew uses the term "fulfilled" 82 times! Many scholars now believe that the Gospel was written before Paul's first imprisonment of 57-60 A.D., and that virtually all of the New Testament books were written before Jerusalem's destruction. The Old Testament spoke of multiple temples that were built over different time periods used to worship the Lord and hold His presence. Now that through Christ we are offered salvation and relationship with God, our bodies become the temple of God where His Spirit resides. We must now walk through this dark world to bring light and rescue the lost.

The Lord needed only two words to produce the sixth commandment. He engraved into a flat plate of stone this simple statement, "Murder not!" Out of ten words which are associated with killing in the Old Testament, He chose the one which refers specifically to the killing of a human whether that person's death is intentional (murder) or accidental (manslaughter). He did not use a word that would include hunting, lawful execution or a morally-justifiable war. He picked the word that would deny us the right to end a human life, including our own. Since human life originated with God, it belongs to Him, and therefore only He can decide who should live and who should die. This means that eliminating people is not an acceptable solution to our problems. Though it's possible for a person to do something so evil that their execution is called for by God's Word (Nu 35:29-34), yet the power to decide this is given only to duly established courts who are to be guided through the process by biblical principles. So the effect of this commandment is to force us to seek positive ways of resolving conflicts with others. If we understand the true spirit of this commandment, we realize God is forcing us to learn to love sinful people just like He does. Tick... Tick... Tick... Tick... Tick... With each passing day, more and more of the prophecy in the Old Testament is fulfilled. From Jesus fulfilling many of the messianic prophecies in Isaiah, to the turmoil that we see today… the clock is ticking, and the events of Revelation are on their way. Today, you will learn from Pastor Ken that the end times are closer than you think. In fact, one could argue that you're in them. The question is, will you be ready when the clock hits zero, or will you run out of time?

“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be eaten by the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”   Isaiah 1:18–20 (ESV)   If you want to know that "the LORD He is God! the LORD, He is God!" (1 Kings 18:39) your search for confirmation finds its best resolution in the book of Isaiah. I would argue that Isaiah, more even than Elisha, "wore the prophetic mantle" of Elijah. Only John the Baptist was a greater merely human incarnation of the role of prophet (Matthew 11:11). Isaiah 42:9 tells us: "Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” Below find two articles that discuss fulfilled Old Testament prophecies. JESUS IS THE CHRIST, THE MESSIAH (Acts 2:25-36) In our message today, we continue listening to the first sermon of the new church age.  It was preached by a Holy Spirit filled and anointed Peter whose purpose was to convict the Jewish people of the terrible crime that they had committed.  For they had rejected and crucified the promised Christ, the Messiah that they had been waiting on for so long.  Now, Peter was offering them an opportunity to come to that Messiah for repentance and forgiveness.  Peter was preaching on the day of Pentecost, in front of thousands of Jews from all over the world.  The Jews had just witnessed the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the 120 disciples speaking in the various tongues of their homelands.  They had come to celebrate the feast of Pentecost and instead they had witnessed a miracle.  Their reaction was one of confusion and mockery.  As he stood up to begin his sermon, Peter responds to the questions of the Jews by using Scripture.  Something they were very familiar with.  He proclaims that they should not be surprised by these events, as the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is similar to those events prophesied by Joel that will take place in “The day of The Lord,” which refers to the Great Tribulation and Millennial Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then, Peter starts to build his case for the proof that Jesus is the Christ, the promised Messiah:  First, he proclaims that Jesus was a recognizable Messiah.  Jesus had performed miracles unlike anything ever seen before in the history of the world.  This was evidence that He had been approved of by God.  He was the one who had fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament prophets. Next, Peter proclaims that Jesus was a rejected Messiah.  The crucifixion of Christ had been foreknown by God from the foundation of time.  When God acted in creation, He had also acted in redemption.  But this did not excuse the rejection of the Messiah, the Son of the Living God, by God's people.   Then, Peter proclaimed the best news of all, that Jesus was the resurrected Messiah.  Jesus was alive, He could not be left in the grave.  Peter declared that it was impossible for God to have left Jesus in the grave. Jesus died for our sins, but He was sinless.  He arose in victory.  Click on the play button to hear a message on the wonderful truth that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah. When Sheila Nemtin Levine began painting, she didn't plan to fulfill the final commandment of the Torah: that every Jew should write their own Old Testament. But, since 2016, that's what ended up happening. She has painted 54 vibrant, mixed-media canvases—one for each chapter—each with a modern take on the ancient verses. They comprise her new art exhibit, Tablet Tableaux. Nemtin Levine calls it a journey of exploration, complete with inspirational messages and famous quotes. Audience members are encouraged to physically engage with the works by touching the grains of sand, family photos and architectural blueprints for the Israelites' portable desert tabernacle. Nemtin Levine's work, which has been displayed at several synagogues across Montreal, has recently been used at Jewish high schools for special b'nei mitzvah study modules. The project has also spawned a coffee table book, a free audio guide and a forthcoming documentary video series. On today's episode of North Star, Nemtin Levine shares her story with host Ellin Bessner, who visits the artist in Montreal to see the work in person.
