Why Amy Murray Poisoned Her Husband With Antifreeze to Marry a Prisoner SHE Guarded Amy Murray was supposed to help people heal. Instead, she brewed up a deadly cocktail of antifreeze, lies, and fire. In today's gripping breakdown, we dive into the unbelievable case of a Missouri prison nurse who poisoned her husband, set their home on fire, and plotted a future with a convicted murderer—all while claiming innocence. Joshua Murray was found dead in his bedroom in 2018—but not from the fire that engulfed the house. A toxicology report revealed antifreeze in his system, and investigators say it was his wife, Amy, who put it there. Why? Because she was secretly in love with Eugene Claypool, a convicted killer serving a life sentence. And yes—she was having a full-blown affair with him while working at the prison. Prison calls revealed the twisted truth: Amy telling Claypool that her husband was “out of the picture.” That picture? A burning house. The motive? Marriage. But when detectives poked holes in her McDonald's alibi and found untouched food at the crime scene, everything unraveled. Amy Murray took an Alford plea, dodging a life sentence in exchange for a 12-year bid for second-degree murder. But here's the kicker—she's also facing sexual abuse charges for her prison relationship with Claypool. That case is still pending, and we'll be watching. How did a healthcare professional end up a murder convict? What drove her to risk everything for a killer? And is justice truly served with a 12-year sentence? Join Lisa and Laura for Unshakable Identity. During these four weeks we look at four different aspects of our identity as women and the corresponding characteristics of our feminine genius. As daughter, it's sensitivity. As sister, it's generosity. As bride, it's receptivity. As mother, it's maternity. Our goal is that as we explore each of these, we will gain a better understanding of our true identity. Today, Lisa and Laura dive into what it means to be a bride. In the Old Testament, God is referred to as Israel's divine husband, and in the New Testament, Jesus is described as the Church's bridegroom. What is experienced corporately, we can also experience personally, because of the intimate love God has for each one of us. Do you thirst to be loved? Of course you do! Grab a cold drink and settle in. Your faithful Spouse has a word for His bride (that's you!). Open your Heart to our key Scripture. Hosea 2:7–17 Open your Bible to other Scriptures referenced in this episode. 2 Timothy 2:13: If we are faithless, he remains faithful. Romans 5:8: But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Hosea 2:16: Therefore, I will allure her now; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak persuasively to her. 2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. Ephesians 5:25: Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. Matthew 9:14–15: Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?” And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them?” John 3:29: He who has the bride is the bridegroom; the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice; therefore this joy of mine is now full. Revelation 22:17: The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let him who hears say, “Come.” And let him who is thirsty come, let him who desires take the water of life without price. Invite Him in with this episode's questions for reflection. How have you experienced God protecting and providing for you as a loving Husband? In what ways might you spurn the love of Jesus? What pulls you away from Him? What tempts you to look elsewhere for help, hope, and fulfillment? Show mentions. Walking with Purpose offers many ways to gather to study Scripture. Noone wants to say it but facing conflict is how you become confident in yourself, learn to trust yourself, feel valuable as a man and replace worry and anxiety with calm, grounded masculine strength. In this episode I talk about what we do with the men we coach in our community to help them deal with conflict better and come out with more self respect, more self belief and a clear plan for their future. In our coaching, we help men get a powerful new mindset that empowers you to give, love and connect more deeply because you're finally doing that within yourself first. This mindset allows empathy, trust and connection to happen because you're confident in who you're being. We teach skills and knowledge that nobody ever teaches men when we're younger. Skills and knowledge that make you feel confident and in control even when chaos is going on around you. It's amazing what you can achieve when you make yourself a priority. Most men don't. They are too busy taking care of everyone else. Too busy minding the store and making the money. They are focused on the "outside game" of winning life. But their "inside game" of confidence and clarity is suffering badly. You can only improve your inside game with other men. We would love to help you become more calm, more strong emotionally and more confident and happy in who you are as a man. Come and join us, either through 1-on-1 coaching with my colleague Dan Dore or me, or in our group coaching program with other amazing men who are travelling the same path as you right now in our Men's Live Coaching Roundtable. Send us a text30 min of free dragging of Aaron Phypers LIVE from the stunning Amalfi Coast, I dive deep into this weeks Reality TV scandals that has everyone talking, starting with Aaron Phypers' messy divorce filing from Denise Richards over Fourth of July and the devastating lawsuit that reveals he allegedly defrauded a cancer patient out of $62,000 at his wellness clinic while promising miracle cures with a "98% success rate." I expose the pattern of questionable relationships this man has with successful women, from his brief marriage to Nicollette Sheridan (complete with mysterious recordings he was court-ordered to delete) to his financial dependency on Denise throughout their six-year marriage. DAWN WAS ONLY a couple hours away when 33-year-old lumber mill owner Gene Harington got home from a really long night. He pulled into the drive around 5:45 a.m., and immediately proceeded to wake up his pretty young wife, Virginia, along with their two babies (ages 1 and 2). Virginia tucked the two kids back into bed, and after that, an argument ensued. Virginia later said it was a bad one — at one point Gene threatened to kick her out of the house, and at another point he threatened to push her down the basement stairs. Finally, she said, around 7:45 a.m., he got undressed for bed. But then he got back up again, got into the closet, and got out his .38 Special. “I'm getting this so you won't,” he said. Then he put it down on the floor beside the bed. The couple continued their argument. Virginia wanted Gene to stop drinking; Gene wanted Virginia to get off his back, and maybe have a drink or two herself (she was a teetotaler). She probably accused him of having an affair; after all, he had been out all night. Then — something happened. Precisely what, only Virginia really knew afterward — but after it was over, Gene Harington was dead, a pair of .38-caliber bullets buried deep in his brain.... Dr. Carli Blau lived the childhood romance romcom. Her and her husband dated a little in high school — then break up. Then they dated a little in college — and break up. Then he persisted until he wins her over in their mid-20s proving that a man with a plan — who can respectfully take a no — will find the love he wants. Carli and I had a fucking blast on my 600th podcast episode. Let's talk about that weird emotional hangover you get after confronting your husband's bad behavior. You know, the one where he hurts you, but somehow you end up feeling sorry for him? Yep. That old chestnut. In this episode, I get real about the trap so many of us Christian women fall into, the compassion boomerang that keeps us stuck in abusive marriages.I've lived this. I breathed this for 25 years. I know exactly what it feels like to see the abuse for what it is, feel a spark of righteous anger… only to have it snuffed out by a fake tear, a Bible verse, or a bouquet of “I didn't mean it that way” flowers. Before you know it, you're back to feeling like the monster for having feelings in the first place. So I'm calling it out. We're unpacking why this happens, how it messes with your brain, and what you can do to flip the script and start feeling sorry for the person who truly deserves your compassion: you. What I Want You to Walk Away With: You're not crazy. You're chemically trauma bonded. And yes, that's a thing.Your compassion is beautiful, but when it's misdirected at your abuser, it becomes a prison. The church has taught us to tolerate abuse in the name of Jesus—and honestly, Jesus would've flipped a table over that.Grief isn't the enemy. Denial is. Grief is the beginning of healing. You can feel sorry for yourself. You should. That's what healing starts with. You don't need to be brave enough for the whole mountain—just the next step. You are the one who's going to rescue you.
