That's a 50% gain this year on top of last year's 26% surge. Silver has jumped even higher, up roughly 60%, while gold mining stocks have more than doubled.What's behind this stunning rally? Several key forces are at play. Global central banks have been buying gold aggressively, a trend that accelerated after the U.S. froze Russia's dollar reserves in 2022. This event shook confidence in the U.S. dollar as a neutral reserve currency. Add in fears of currency debasement stemming from massive government spending since the COVID pandemic, and gold suddenly looks like a safer store of value.As investors around the world look for stability, gold—the “4,000-year-old alternative currency”—is once again shining.To understand today's prices, it helps to look at history. Adjusted for inflation, gold recently surpassed its all-time high from January 1980. Silver, meanwhile, is nearing $50 an ounce—the peak it hit in both 1980 and 2011—but still lags behind those highs when adjusted for inflation.These cycles remind investors that precious metals often move in waves—soaring during manias, then enduring long pullbacks. After its 1980 peak, silver prices dropped nearly 90%; after 2011, they fell by about 70%. Nearly a year ago, mysterious drones of unknown origin began buzzing military bases and other sensitive sites, mostly in the eastern U.S. They swooped in out of nowhere, hovered and maneuvered over airfields, didn't try to hide their presence, and could not be tracked when they abruptly departed. Entire U.S. bases were shut down, including Langley and Wright-Patterson AFB. Similar incursions were reported at joint bases in the UK, where personnel deployed advanced anti-drone tech - with no effect. Now, several European countries are experiencing similarly troubling incursions. In recent weeks, mystery drones have caused fear and confusion in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Belgium. Governments suspect the drones are being controlled by Russia, though there isn't a shred of evidence to prove that, and these drones cannot be tracked or brought down. At least 11 FAA locations are affected, including key hubs like Chicago O'Hare, Newark, Orlando, Denver, and regional facilities, where control towers are operating with fewer controllers, resulting in delays of up to 90 minutes. In Duffy Threatens Dismissal for Controllers Who Falsely Call in Sick, AvBrief reports that in an interview on Fox Business, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said, “If we have a continual small subset of controllers that don't show up to work, and they're the problem children … if we have some on our staff that aren't dedicated like we need, we're going to let them go. We shouldn't forget the names of those in our country who unleashed a relentless, vicious, and deceitful campaign against the bombing of those Iranian nuclear sites and those of us who strongly encouraged and supported it. They also trashed Trump before he acted, claiming it would divide MAGA, lead to WWIII and the death of thousands of American troops and perhaps nuclear war with China and Russia, and that Netanyahu and the Jews were trying to drag our country into a war. These liars will be remembered forever as the buffoons that they are. Also, another media lie has been obliterated. Trump's speech at the Knesset was filled with praise for PM Benjamin Netanyahu. There is virtually no mention of this on TV or radio. Why? Because it obliterates the constant and endless media narrative that the two men are hostile toward each other, or that there was and is a significant gap between them. Later, phase two of the Gaza peace plan will be extremely difficult. Achieving peace in the Middle East requires defeating, starving, isolating, and eliminating jihadists, Islamists, and terrorists from groups like Hamas, Islamic Jihad, ISIS, and Al Qaeda. Shooters will recognize it, as it is frequently allied with lead to make a harder, more durable alloy for cast bullets. We should note that lead-antimony alloys have many other uses, from lead-acid batteries to sailboat keels. Antimony is used in other alloys as well, such as antifriction alloys, electric cable sheathing, and type metals for printing presses, which apparently are not completely extinct yet. It's also used in flame retardants, and - this is key - in semiconductors. It's also has applications in pharmaceuticals.  a key strategic mineral. Alaska has antimony. Now, in Alaska, a company called Nova Minerals, with a grant from the War Department, has a contract to build an antimony refinery at Port MacKenzie, west of Anchorage, to process ore from the Estelle gold mine in the West Susitna Mineral District. With Pentagon backing and a goal to begin delivering Alaska-sourced antimony into U.S. supply chains by 2027, Nova Minerals Ltd. has secured a 42.8-acre site at Port MacKenzie west of Anchorage for a refinery that would process antimony concentrates from its Estelle project and other sources."This is a defining moment for Nova Minerals and for U.S. critical mineral independence," Nova Minerals CEO Christopher Gerteisen said upon securing land use permits for the industrial site about four miles from a deepwater port in Southcentral Alaska.The refinery, to be developed by Nova subsidiary Alaska Range Resources (ARR), is part of a strategy to leverage the very high-grade antimony mineralization found on the company's Estelle project about 100 miles west of Port MacKenzie to establish a domestic supply of this metalloid critical to a wide range of military and commercial applications. Antimony is also found in Idaho and Montana. But a majority of antimony production comes from countries that are not particularly friendly to the United States: China, Russia, and Tajikistan, which, between them, account for almost 80 percent of global supply.
