Welcome to another episode where we dive deep into the mysteries of the legendary Sasquatch. Today, we embark on a journey through time, exploring the origins of this enigmatic creature's name, the pioneers who paved the way for cryptozoological research, and the modern-day encounters cataloged by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO). Finally, we'll take a closer look at the track evidence that has sparked heated debates in both the scientific and cryptid communities. The Genesis of the Name SasquatchLong before Bigfoot became a household name, indigenous cultures across North America shared stories of large, hairy beings that roamed the forests. The term Sasquatch itself originates from the Coast Salish word Sésquac, meaning “wild man.” It was introduced to popular culture in the 1920s by J.W. Burns, a Canadian teacher who collected and documented First Nations' accounts of the creature. From there, Sasquatch slowly made its way into the cryptid lexicon, preceding the more famous moniker Bigfoot, which wouldn't gain traction until the late 1950s.The pursuit of unknown creatures isn't new. In the mid-20th century, a new branch of study emerged—cryptozoology—dedicated to investigating creatures that exist on the fringes of scientific recognition. Figures like Bernard Heuvelmans, Ivan T. Sanderson, and Grover Krantz were instrumental in developing this field, applying scientific methods to analyze claims of mysterious creatures, including Sasquatch. Krantz, in particular, became one of the foremost defenders of Bigfoot's potential existence, arguing that physical evidence—especially footprints—could not be easily dismissed. The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) has meticulously cataloged thousands of encounters, compiling witness reports from across North America. From fleeting glimpses to prolonged close encounters, the database serves as one of the largest repositories of Bigfoot-related evidence. Patterns have emerged over time—frequent sightings in the Pacific Northwest, eerie vocalizations heard in dense forests, and even alleged physical interactions with the creature. But with this vast amount of anecdotal evidence, the question remains: Are these reports merely misidentifications, hoaxes, or something more?Tracks and the Debate Over Their AuthenticityFootprints have long been one of the most cited pieces of evidence in the search for Sasquatch. Some tracks, like the famous Cripple Foot print analyzed by Grover Krantz, have been presented as near-definitive proof of the creature's existence. Others, like the tracks discovered by Paul Freeman, have been widely debated, with skeptics arguing they were fabricated. This brings us to an article published in The Skeptical Inquirer by Michael R. Dennett, titled Bigfoot Evidence: Are These Tracks Real? In this piece, Dennett critically examines track evidence, particularly those tied to Freeman and Krantz, raising questions about their authenticity and whether belief has clouded scientific rigor.Final ThoughtsWhether you're a believer, a skeptic, or somewhere in between, the mystery of Sasquatch remains one of the most enduring and fascinating topics in cryptozoology. The stories, the evidence, and the ongoing debates keep us questioning what might be lurking in the remote wilderness. As we sift through history, firsthand encounters, and the physical evidence left behind, one thing is certain—the legend of Sasquatch isn't going anywhere.Tune in and decide for yourself: Are we on the cusp of a major cryptozoological discovery, or is the truth behind Sasquatch forever lost in folklore and fabrication?Get Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteSupport Our SponsorsVisit Untold Radio AMVisit HIMS.COMBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.

It's one of the most terrifyingly fascinating places on our planet. Ships and planes simply vanish, radios and compasses just stop working, and some even say they've spotted strange objects there. And it's not the one and only Bermuda Triangle. There are at least 11 other mysterious places. So what are they, and how do they form? Ivan T. Sanderson, a writer, a biologist, and a huge fan of the paranormal and inexplicable, traveled a lot and recorded his experiences. What caught his attention the most was where the strangest unexplained things kept happening. That is, disappearing ships and whatnot. He was able to map 12 of these places scattered all over the world. But the weird thing is, 6 of them lie almost perfectly in line above the Equator, and the same goes for the 6 below it... TIMESTAMPS: The Bermuda Triangle 1:11 The Algerian Megaliths 2:14 Mohenjo-Daro 3:02 The Dragon's Triangle 3:44 The Hamakulia Volcano 4:30 Easter Island 4:59 The South Atlantic Anomaly 5:44 Great Zimbabwe 6:20 The Wharton Basin 6:53 The Loyalty Islands 7:27 The North and South Poles 8:06 Theories about these Vile Vortices: Ley lines 8:52 Giant puzzle 9:32 A lot of geologic activity 10:04 #mystery #bermudatriangle #brightside SUMMARY: Besides the paranormal theories of wormholes to another dimension and gates to the underworld, the Bermuda Triangle is really foggy due to methane gas that sometimes makes it impossible for travelers to see, thus making navigation a little tricky too. The Algerian Megaliths are an architectural anomaly, showing just how advanced these people were for a time when we didn't have the technology to help us build stable constructions. Mohenjo-Daro in Pakistan goes way back to the Indus Valley Civilization in 2500 BCE. Like in Algeria, this society was, for some reason, surprisingly advanced when it came to building and urban planning. Heading further east along the same northern line, we arrive in Japan, where the Dragon's Triangle, also called the Devil's Sea, is located. The most astonishing thing about this Vile Vortex is that there's an underwater city dubbed Japan's Atlantis. Located in the Ring of Fire, the next Vile Vortex is the Hamakulia Volcano in Hawaii. Locals treat it with utmost respect as the volcano is believed to have a mysterious power. Now let's head south of the Equator to one of the most isolated places on this planet: Easter Island in Polynesia. This is where you can find nearly 900 Moai statues created by the Rapa Nui people. The South Atlantic Anomaly is a part of Earth where natural radiation flows out of control. Another impressive megalith, this time in Zimbabwe. It was once home to around 20,000 people… but it's now a ghost town. Poor Australia has Vile Vortices on both sides. Heading over to the east, there's the Loyalty Islands. A lot of strange whirlpools were found on this patch of the South Pacific as well as plenty of geologic activity. The North and South Poles are on opposite ends of the planet, but they've got two things in common: ice and odd disappearances. In the 1960-1970s a promoter by the name of Frank Hansen toured the country side with what he claimed was the real body of an ape man frozen in a block of ice. Some say that this creature was a hoax, while other claim it's a Sasquatch, and some say it could even be a Rock Ape from Vietnam.Although the original specimen is lost to the world after Frank replaced it with a 100% fake version later on, there is at least ONE man who was there and can tell us what he saw first hand. On September 12th, 1952, a group of local boys and one of their mothers saw what they described as a "shooting star" that fell to earth on the top of a hill. They soon stumbled upon an object that was glowing and hissing. Near the glowing object they were terrified to see a huge creature, that would come to be known as the Flatwoods Monster. What was it? Where did it come from? Featuring rare audio from UFO researchers, Ivan T. Sanderson and Stanton T. Friedman, we'll re-examine this classic case and look at some of the possible explanation for what may have crashed to Earth that day in 1952.Episode co-researched and co-written by Marcus Lowth: www.ufoinsight.comPatreon: www.patreon.com/somewhereskiesPayPal: Sprague51@hotmail.comWebsite: www.somewhereintheskies.comStore: http://tee.pub/lic/ULZAy7IY12UYouTube Channel: CLICK HEREOrder Ryan's new book: https://a.co/d/4KNQnM4Order Ryan's older book: https://amzn.to/3PmydYCTwitter: @SomewhereSkiesRead Ryan's Articles by CLICKING HEREOpening Theme Song, "Ephemeral Reign" by Per KiilstofteCopyright © 2024. By 1952, flying saucers had become a familiar topic to the American public. However, the case of the "flatwoods monster" was among the first widely-publicized UFO sightings to also involve an "alien" being, and it preceded a rise in anomalous entity encounters around the world. Micah A. Hanks is a full-time journalist, radio personality, author and investigator of the unexplained. Since an early age, he has been fascinated with strange mysteries and "Fortean phenomena," a field of study named for the pioneering researcher of all-things-strange, Charles Fort. Hanks' exposure to Fort's work, as well as the later writings of personalities such as zoologist Ivan T. Sanderson, cosmologist Carl Sagan, and several others helped establish an open minded-but inherently skeptical-approach to studying the unexplained, which Hanks maintains and continues to cultivate today, much like his numerous influences of past decades. Throughout his many years studying the world's mysteries, Hanks has visited a number of places collecting information about not only aliens and UFOs, but also cultural data, folklore, and reports of strange creatures like Sasquatch. From steep mountain passes in remote parts of Montana, to the rolling valleys where Ohio's "Grassman" is said to trudge, Hanks has made a lifestyle of pursuing mysteries, often right to their sources. He also spent a number of years working with various scientists, historians, and film crews, particularly fellow researcher and friend Joshua P. Warren, attempting to solve the mystery of the Brown Mountain Lights. These strange "ghost lights" represent an atmospheric phenomenon specific to Western North Carolina, likened by many to be ufological in nature. His interest in the region and its many mysteries, as well as his ever-evolving methods of inquiry pertaining to the UFO phenomenon at large, remains underway. Hanks has been featured as a guest on many television and radio programs, including History Channel's Guts and Bolts, Travel Channel's Weird Travels, CNN Radio, and The Jeff Rense Program. He is also a staff writer for UFO Magazine, Mysterious Universe, and regular contributor to Intrepid Magazine, with past articles appearing in FATE, Mysteries Magazine, and several other publications. Sanderson, Kyle became fascinated by UFOs, Bigfoot, time slips, and parallel universes. Keeping an open mind and exploring these topics, he strives to present these stories and experiences shared by only a few in a fun and light-hearted way. Kyle currently lives in Texas with his wife and three sons. Cam Hale was born and raised in Texas and comes from a long family heritage of Texans that can be traced back to before the Lone Star State gained its independence. Growing up in a rural country town he spent the majority of his time outdoors. Receiving his first taste of archery at the age of 5, he started down a path that lead him on solo camping and hunting trips across the state as well as many other states. Like most, his fascination with the strange and unusual started young with shows like In Search Of and Unsolved Mysteries. Diving deeper into these subjects at his local library only fueled the flames that led him to where he is today. With an open mind and adventurous heart, Cam looks to present the stories of the strange in a fun and intriguing manner. Cam still lives in the great state of Texas with his wife and two children. Strange things are happening all around the world in specific places and Tomcat & Juan are traveling around the globe to talk about them! A vile vortex is any of twelve purported particular geographic areas, arranged in a pattern around the Earth. The term was coined in the 20th century by Ivan T. These days, more and more researchers are considering the idea that there is a unified theory for all things paranormal from Bigfoot to ghosts to UFOs. The idea that all, or at least many, things paranormal derive from a common source was considered as early as the 1940s by Meade Layne and other members of the Borderland Sciences Research Association. This has been popularized in more recent times by John Keel and Jaques Vallée. There was a great deal of resistance to this way of thinking among paranormal enthusiasts, but a case in Pennsylvania from 1973 has elements to it that that likely caused many to reconsider their positions. The case is described by Berthold Eric Schwartz, M.D. in the July 1974 issue of Flying Saucer Review in his article, “Berserk: A UFO Creature Encounter.” According to Schwartz, he got a call on a Sunday in September from Allan Noe of the Society for the Investigation of the Unexplained (a New Jersey based organization founded by Ivan T. Sanderson) and Stan Gordon, director of the Pennsylvania based Westmoreland County UFO Study Group. They told him they were in the midst of a great deal of activity involving UFOs and creatures. Gordon, in the documentary, Invasion on Chestnut Ridge, describes the activity as “a major UFO-Bigfoot wave.” Read more →
Today, we talk about Diamonds are Forever, Stephenson's relationship with US news media, the curious cases of Walter Winchell and Drew Pearson, counterintelligence in general, Igor Gouzenko's defection, and we evaluate the performance of British Security Coordination overall. Then we run through BSC's alumni; there are some very, very interesting people included in that list. Ian Fleming, Dorothy Maclean, Ivan T. Sanderson, David Ogilvy, Betty Thorpe, Sgt. Pepper, and we finally discuss H. Montgomery Hyde as a source. Functionally the last William Stephenson episode, though he will appear in next week's episode too.

Hey weirdos! It's time for another episode of It Gets Weird. This week we talk Ivan T. Sanderson and his theory of Vile Vortices because sometimes the Bermuda Triangle just isn't enough for some people. How far can you really stretch science to link together some boats and planes crashing in specific areas around the world and does it have anything to do with the hit film Ocean's 11. We also try to figure out the opposite of Vile Vortices and try to figure out the places of heightened normality across the earth.

Ivan T. Sanderson believed there were places of power on the earth that invite industry and disaster, places where the world's great civilizations were born and places where vast collections of humans were lost forever. In these "Vile Vortices" human evolution might make great leaps, or the planet might open up to swallow you whole. Come with us as we explore where and why this might happen and listen as Patricia continuously tries to get Lee to stop whispering "anal probe" into his microphone. One of them might end up in a vortex by the time it's all over.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Atlantic_Anomalyhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohenjo-darohttps://www.ranker.com/list/vile-vortices-facts/laura-allanhttps://www.marineinsight.com/maritime-history/unexplained-mystery-the-devils-sea-the-dragons-triangle/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_T._Sanderson#:~:text=Vile%20vortices,-Sanderson%20has%20been&text=In%201968%2C%20Sanderson%20introduced%20the,UFO%20sightings%2C%20or%20poltergeist%20activity.https://www.paranormal-encyclopedia.com/v/vile-vortices/https://curiosmos.com/mysterious-planet-heres-a-list-of-earths-12-vile-vortices/http://www.expandedperspectives.com/vile-vortices/https://podtail.com/en/podcast/expanded-perspectives/vile-vortices/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gMJBwHiJUkhttps://paranormal.lovetoknow.com/about-paranormal/energy-vortexeshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5YR0uqPAI8https://www.britannica.com/place/Great-Zimbabwehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quzjmZ-7s6w&ab_channel=TED-Edhttps://allthatsinteresting.com/dragons-triangle-devils-s
In 1970, zoologist and popular author Ivan T. Sanderson wrote, "it may come as somewhat of a shock... to learn that, by actual count, over 50 percent of all so-called 'sightings' of UFOs have occurred over, coming from, going away over, or plunging into or coming out of water. That this fact is known to officialdom is manifest from their official publications, but they seem to have left this aquatic factor out of their statistical analyses." This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we examine maritime incidents from over the years involving unidentified objects observed at sea, and the implications for such sightings in terms of broader studies of the UAP issue. In 1972 well-known paranormal researcher Ivan T. Sanderson published an article examining what he called “The Twelve Devil’s Graveyards Around The World”. Areas historically known for unexplained phenomenon and mysterious disappearances. This list included the infamous Bermuda Triangle, The Devil’s Sea, and the North and South Poles. Sanderson and other researchers have gone on to try and explain why these areas are such hotbeds of unusual activity by studying their relative locations, the amount of electromagnetic radiation that surrounds the areas, and the existence of ancient megaliths within some of the regions. Is it possible that we could add one more of these “Vile Vortices” to Sanderson’s list? Is there a region located on the US East Coast that has claims to UFO, Bigfoot, and Ghost sightings all within a strangely definable area? In 1972, Ivan T. Sanderson, a Scottish biologist, began to take notice that there were specific regions on Earth, twelve to be exact, where planes, ships and people seemed to disappear without a trace, as well as other unexplained anomalies like spinning compasses, failing electrical equipment and UFO sightings occurred. He found these areas to be equidistant from each other, each one 72 degrees from the other, and named them the vile vortices.Sanderson believed that the activity surrounding these areas may be due to electromagnetic disturbances cause by hot and cold air, but there were some who felt that there may be connections to ley lines, or to extraterrestrial activity. There are many also who believe that the vile vortices could be entrances to the Hollow Earth, Atlantis, or even another dimension! Are these vile vortices an inter-dimensional doorway? Kyle Philson was born on August 9th in Fort Worth, Texas. His mother and father were life long residents of New Jersey and moved south only a few years before his birth in order to seek out a better living. Growing up in rural Texas in a small town outside of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex, Kyle spent a lot of time in the woods hunting, fishing and camping. His early interest in the paranormal was first sparked by his father and uncles. Watching shows like Unsolved Mysteries and In Search Of along with reading numerous books by John Keel and Ivan T. Sanderson, Kyle became fascinated by UFOs, Bigfoot, time slips and parallel universes. Keeping an open mind and exploring these topics, he strives to present these stories and experiences shared by only a few in a fun and light hearted way. We kick this episode off with some current news items, like the LiDAR survey in Guatemala around Mayan ruins, the possible detection of extragalactic exoplanets, and the complete falsification of anthropogenic global warming by world-reknowned, internationally acclaimed, nobel prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman, using physics. Kyle then destroys the dreams of millions of people who have been trying to raise their vibrations and make the world a better place through meditation, when he reads an article about scientists who proved that meditation doesn't work by demonstrating that assholes who meditate are still assholes. He then renews their dreams by pointing out that, since life can be shit sometimes, having assholes around to deal with it is a good thing, so removal of all assholes would leave the rest of us to deal with the shit, which is no one's idea of a better world. In the second hour, Russ reads from Ivan T. Sanderson's book Pursuing the Unexplained about coincidence and how, as a phenomena, it is not understood and therefore cannot legitimately be used as an explanation for other things we don't under stand. Also, rain dances are real, clouds can be busted with merely a few minutes concentration and an intense stare, and lots of weird shit rains out of the sky on a regular basis(further reinforcing the need for assholes, to deal with this sky shit). So get out there and be an asshole, make the world a better place.
On this weeks episode of Expanded Perspectives, the guys start the show off talking about how there was apparently a wave of some very strange sightings of what appeared to be Pterodactyls over the English countryside back in 1982-1983. Then, from mid-September onward, solar panels will be mandatory for new homes in South Miami, Florida. The law — which was passed with a four-to-one majority — states that builders must install 16 m² (175 ft²) of solar panel per 93 m² (1000 ft²) of sunlit roof area, or one panel with a 2.75 kilowatt capacity per 93 m² (1000 ft²) of living space; the rule also extends to some renovations. Then, Steven Petrow over at the Washington Posts recently wrote an article about his dying mother seeing ghosts or spirits of dead relatives. Apparently this is very frequent and common among those about to transition to the other side. Then, new research finds that people who think they are less active than others in a similar age bracket die younger than those who believe they are more active—even if their actual activity levels are similar. After the break Cam brings up Vile Vortices. By definition, the Vile Vortices would be miserable whirlers but actually they are twelve vertex points of a planetary grid (see Figure 1) originally plotted by Ivan T. Sanderson, a naturalist and paranormal investigator. Sanderson first coined the term, “Vile Vortices”1 in his article “The Twelve Devil’s Graveyards Around the World” (Saga magazine, 1972). The best-known Vile Vortices are the Bermuda Triangle, the Dragon’s Triangle (Devil's Sea), and the South Atlantic Anomaly. However, each of these twelve geographic areas is credited with instances of magnetic anomalies and other unexplained phenomena.
