Less than fifteen hours after her live broadcast, Kilgallen was found dead inside her East 68th Street Manhattan townhouse, and her locked "assassination file"—containing two years of explosive, unreleased research on Jack Ruby, Carlos Marcello, and the JFK assassination—vanished without a trace.We examine Kilgallen's complex relationship with 30-year-old Columbus film critic Ron Pataki, to whom she confided details of her investigation and read draft excerpts of her upcoming Random House book Murder One, including her Jack Ruby story. We detail the mounting paranoia during her final weeks as she warned her trusted hairdressers, Mark Sinclair and Charles Simpson, that her private files were somehow leaking, ominously stating, "If the wrong people knew what I know now, it would cost me my life." We also analyze Pataki's contradictory recollections, his casual admissions about editing her assassination copy and knowing Chicago mob boss Sam Giancana, and the surprising lack of law enforcement follow-up after police accepted a single phone call from his newspaper colleagues in Ohio as a complete alibi.Finally, we dissect the alarming physical contradictions of the death scene and the massive timeline cover-up by authorities. Kilgallen's body was found in the third-floor master bedroom—a room she had stubbornly refused to sleep in for years following a marital rift with her husband, Richard Kollmar—propped up in bed in full television makeup, false eyelashes, a hairpiece, and a dressy blouse over a peignoir, holding a novel she had already finished weeks earlier with no reading glasses in sight. Furthermore, while official reports claimed her maid discovered the body at noon, primary witnesses establish that hairdresser Mark Sinclair discovered her body between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m., but even that was after the staff or her husband had likely found her and altered the scene. Dr. Saul Heller was summoned by 9:30 a.m., and the police precinct was notified before 10:30 a.m, yet the official time of the police involvement seems to be around 1PM. And why was Dr. David Baldwin, the Kilgallen family physician, separately called to the townhouse later that afternoon to pronounce Dorothy dead for a second time, creating a major contradiction of facts that make the official record even more suspect. We explore the tragic, unsettling reality of an investigation silenced in its final miles, leaving behind a staged room, missing files, and two years of secret evidence gathered by Dorothy that is now buried forever.

This week on The Breggin Hour, Peter and I sat down with one of the more wonderful men we know: Sheriff Richard Mack, founder of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, the Arizona sheriff who took the federal government all the way to the Supreme Court over the Brady Bill—and won. He has a new book. The title is deliberately offensive. He said so himself, and he meant it that way. The Democrat Murder of America: Demagoguery in the First Degree. The cover is a jackass in a patriotic hat, a knife in its hoof, stabbing the Statue of Liberty in the back. Sheriff Mack admitted it is horrible. That was the point. He wanted your attention. The book site is murderofamerica.com. There is an ebook at $14.92, an audiobook at $17.76, and a paperback at $26.76. They planned those numbers. Columbus. 1776. 2026. This is not a campaign pamphlet for a party. Sheriff Mack said it is not a pro-Trump book and not a pro-Republican book. It is a history book about what is being done to the country from within—and a manual for people who still believe the Constitution and the individual human being are worth defending. You cannot have communism and freedom That was the sentence he kept coming back to. Those philosophies are not cousins. They are not “different paths to the same good.” They are the antithesis of each other. Communism does not recognize civil rights. It does not honor the person. It tells you how many children you may have, what you may say, what you may own, and what you must obey. The promise of forced equality is a lie. The individual is erased. Peter and I have spent years saying the same thing in another language: collectivism—religious, political, or “scientific”—is the opposite of Christianity and of the American founding. The First Amendment begins with faith for a reason. A Creator who made each person in His image is not compatible with a state that claims ownership of the soul and rejects the individuality and unique qualities of each person. Sheriff Mack asked a question the media will not ask the new crop of openly socialist and communist candidates: What will you do with the people who refuse to cooperate? We already know part of the answer. We lived it. COVID was the rehearsal On the show, we talked about the last few years as if they were ancient history. They are not. Children locked inside. Playgrounds closed. Churches shuttered. Babies staring at masked faces for the first years of life. Australians held for months in camps. Planes on which you could remove the mask only to eat—so Sheriff Mack ate peanuts for hours, until they changed the rule to force the little ritual of pull-down, bite, pull-up. Control for control's sake. They learned that a “crisis of the day” can make Americans surrender schools, businesses, worship, and the Constitution. Justice Scalia, in the very case Sheriff Mack won, wrote that the Constitution protects us from our own best intentions. It divides power so we will resist the temptation to concentrate it as an expedient solution to the emergency of the moment. Never let a crisis go to waste. That is not wisdom. That is a method. If you think that chapter is over, Sheriff Mack's warning is simple: wait until the people who admired that machinery hold still more offices. **History they hoped you would forget** The book is full of names younger Americans were never taught. Nikita Khrushchev, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, told Americans they were gullible. You will not accept communism outright, he said. We will feed you small doses of socialism until you wake up and find you already have communism. We will not need to invade. We will destroy you from within. We will bury you. Sheriff Mack's argument is that a political movement inside the Democrat Party is fulfilling that threat—not because every Democrat is a villain, he said, but because the party's dominant direction is to replace the Constitution with something closer to Marx. He talked about Dorothy Kilgallen, the What's My Line television game show panelist and journalist who interviewed Jack Ruby and then died the same night her JFK notes disappeared—barbiturates and alcohol, ruled an accident, the same pattern as Marilyn Monroe. Vince Foster. The sudden expansion of Vietnam after JFK was gone. The deep state is not a new invention. He talked about CNN's Sarah Sidner, who came to his daughter's house, recorded eighty-five minutes, heard again and again why they were even talking—his Supreme Court victory against the Clinton Justice Department—and then went on Anderson Cooper and mentioned none of it. Peter and I know that pattern. We have been walked out of buildings we were invited into. YouTube banned us for life after we announced *COVID-19 and the Global Predators*. The media is not a referee. It is a participant. Elections, cities, and the Senate Sheriff Mack described a country in which a tourist from Buenos Aires can walk into a New York polling place, register without ID and without English, vote, and fly home to brag. He described the open talk of abolishing or neutering the Senate and packing the Court—so that a handful of giant cities decide the fate of small states. Destroy the Constitution, he said, and you destroy the country. He also said something we hear too rarely: there are good Democrats, including Christians, who have been lied to. The book is written to be handed to them. Start with the epilogue, he suggested. Then talk. That is not hatred. That is an invitation to wake up from indoctrination. The smartest person in the room, he said, is the one who can recognize his own brainwashing. A peaceful manual, while peace is still possible Peter's closing on the hour was short: buy the book. You are not only buying pages. You are supporting one of the great living voices for constitutional liberty in this country. Sheriff Mack and co-author Dan Perkins talked, while they were writing, about what happens if the book actually gains traction. They have already been smeared. They know the next step. Perkins told him he hoped their wives would be taken care of. That is not melodrama. That is what it costs now to say plain things in public. The alternative they offer is still peaceful: know the history, refuse the next crisis-of-the-day, restore local accountability, protect the sheriff's oath to the Constitution rather than to Washington, and come together as good people who still love this country. We are of a generation that did duck-and-cover, that watched people shot trying to leave East Germany, that saw COVID used as a nationwide obedience drill. Younger people have been propagandized in school and have not seen the same failures with their own eyes. That is why a book like this matters. It is a history lesson and a warning in one. Peter Engel and William MeiselThe Neil Haley Show opens with a warm, wide-ranging conversation with legendary television executive producer Peter Engel, the man behind Saved by the Bell and the author of the forthcoming memoir I Was Saved by the Bell, out November 15th. Engel, speaking from his home overlooking the ocean, admitted he never wanted to make the show and even told NBC president Brandon Tartikoff to find someone else, only to watch it become a global phenomenon airing in eighty-five countries at a time when few American comedies traveled beyond a handful of English-speaking markets. He credited the magic entirely to the cast, recalling the first time he gathered the young actors in one room and knew they were special. Engel walked Neil through the ensemble one by one: Mario Lopez as Slater, the most visible of the group and the one he still stays closest to, cast after Engel told his casting director to open the role to anyone regardless of ethnicity; Mark-Paul Gosselaar as the charming, scheming Zack Morris, a role he likened to a California Ferris Bueller; Dustin Diamond as Screech, whom he called a comedy genius beloved in France, and whose later struggles Engel spoke about with genuine sympathy; and the young women Tiffani-Amber Thiessen (Kelly), Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie), and Lark Voorhies (Lisa), all of whom, he said, made those the best years of his life. Meisel, a former USC professor whose PhD dissertation was on neural networks and who spent a decade running a speech-recognition company, traced the term artificial intelligence back to John McCarthy in 1955 and explained that what we call AI today rests on one specific technology, deep learning through neural networks. He argued that today's large language models are already close to the limits of what that technology can achieve, because they depend on enormous quantities of high-quality data, and the supply of genuinely new, independent data is running dry as the web fills with machine-generated text. Building ever-larger neural networks, he warned, would require exponentially more data than exists, risking what he memorably called artificial ignorance rather than artificial intelligence. Neil, drawing on his own hands-on work building AI agents, agreed that the tools falter badly when left to run unsupervised and shine only when a knowledgeable human feeds them focused data and clear direction. Meisel pointed to the real promise ahead: smaller, specialized models trained on high-quality, narrow datasets, citing impressive Caltech cancer-treatment research, along with unsupervised learning and clustering, and above all conversational digital assistants, the field he devoted years to. Both men landed on a shared conviction that AI is a powerful accelerator for human work, never a replacement for human judgment or creativity. El invitado era Xi Jinping, que llegó a Washington para una visita de Estado rodeada de honores y cenas de gala. Lo que nadie tiene claro todavía es para qué ha servido semejante despliegue. El resultado ha sido pequeño. La tregua comercial pactada el año pasado, después de una escalada arancelaria que China frenó restringiendo la venta de tierras raras, se ha prorrogado solo dos meses. A eso se suman una rebaja recíproca de aranceles sobre productos muy poco sensibles, un vago diálogo sobre inteligencia artificial, algunos avances contra el fentanilo y dos pandas gigantes para el zoológico de Atlanta. Las conversaciones de fondo apenas duraron media hora, señal de que la pompa era el verdadero propósito del viaje. El Gobierno de Estados Unidos, además, desconfía de que China cumpla lo firmado. Xi Jinping buscaba otra cosa. Con el congreso del Partido Comunista cerca y un cuarto mandato en el horizonte, necesitaba aparecer ante los suyos como un igual del presidente de EEUU. Pretendía también delimitar la rivalidad entre ambas potencias dentro de unas líneas rojas, la más gruesa de todas ellas la que afecta a Taiwán. Pidió que Estados Unidos pase de "no apoyar" la independencia de la isla a "oponerse" a ella, un matiz que en Taipéi se leería como un abandono de facto. Trump no cedió, por ahora. Canjear Taiwán por ayuda china en la guerra con Irán sería un pésimo negocio que inquietaría a todos los aliados del Pacífico y pondría en manos de China la industria de semiconductores más avanzada del mundo. La cumbre confirmó que Trump ha abandonado la línea dura hacia China que él mismo inauguró en su primer mandato. Restó importancia al espionaje chino al servicio de Irán y se mostró indiferente ante las maniobras militares en torno a Taiwán. La opinión pública acompaña, la mayoría de los estadounidenses prefiere hoy cooperar con China antes que contenerla. Los papeles se han invertido hasta el punto de que fue Trump quien imitó el estilo chino de fotos posadas y prensa amaestrada. En el terreno de la inteligencia artificial nada ha avanzado, pero es ahí donde se ve mejor lo entrelazadas que están ambas economías, algo que confirman también el petróleo o los medicamentos. “A good divorce is better than a bad marriage, and this is a good divorce.” — Alan Dershowitz The American lawyer Alan Dershowitz says he's been voting Democrat since John F. Kennedy. He even defended Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton and Alan Cranston in court. But, at 88 years old, Dershowitz has now left — or, as he puts it, been forced out of the Dems, in the same way Ronald Reagan was sixty years ago. His new book Why I Quit the Dems and So Should You is both a history of his souring relations with the Democrats and a confessional of a reluctant Republican. A good divorce, the twice-married Dershowitz promises, is better than a bad marriage. Like many angry spouses, he says he's been forced into the split. Today's Democratic Party, he claims, is closer than any political party in modern American history to what the Nazi Party was in 1932 before it came to power. He names Abdul El-Sayed and Zohran Mamdani as antisemites, calls Bernie Sanders a self-hating Jew, and insists Kamala Harris passed over Josh Shapiro because Shapiro is a Jew who wouldn't renounce Zionism. What's his proof on the Harris claim? What other reason could there be? Dershowitz claims. Besides, even if Israel vanished as an issue tomorrow, he says he still couldn't go back to the failed marriage, because the Dems have abandoned what he calls “meritocracy.” At 88, Dershowitz is perhaps a little more self-reflective than he was in his legal pomp. In conclusion, I ask him to summarize himself in a word. “Proudly-Jewish,” he says, before adding “never-boring.” We can all agree on that, if perhaps little else. Five Takeaways • A Good Divorce. Dershowitz frames his departure as liberation rather than loss: a good divorce is better than a bad marriage, and he was thrown out, he says, much as Ronald Reagan was. The loyalty he is breaking runs deep — he first voted for John F. Kennedy, defended Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton and Senator Alan Cranston, and campaigned for Democrats for most of his adult life. He describes himself now as a convert, and converts, he notes, are the most fervent. What he wants is not the suffering of Democrats — his wife, children and much of his family remain in the party — but their defeat: he does not want them running the House or the Senate, and names AOC and Abdul El-Sayed as people he does not want chairing committees. He first went independent, then concluded that independence wasn't enough, which is how a lifelong liberal became, in the book's subtitle, a reluctant Republican — or, as Andrew put it, an angry spouse who says he was forced into the split. President Trump, he notes, endorsed the book.• The Charge. The hour's most incendiary material, and it should be read as his claims rather than as established fact. Dershowitz argues the Democratic Party is closer than any political party in modern American history to what the Nazi Party was in 1932 — specifically 1932, he stresses, not 1935: Jews feeling unsafe at universities, Jews losing jobs, an obsession with the nation-state of the Jewish people. He names El-Sayed and Mamdani as antisemites, says he does not believe Mamdani or his family like Jews, calls Bernie Sanders a self-hating Jew and a hypocrite, and says Elizabeth Warren doesn't like Jews. His central political claim: no Jew perceived as pro-Israel can now win a Democratic primary, and no Jew will be nominated for president — which is why, in his telling, Kamala Harris passed over Josh Shapiro, a choice he says cost her Pennsylvania and possibly the election. Andrew asked how he could know that. “What other reason could there be?” was the answer, and Andrew offered the conventional one: that Harris didn't want to be eclipsed by her running mate.• Meritocracy. Andrew's sharpest structural question was hypothetical: if the Middle East were solved overnight and Israel vanished as an American political issue, could he return to the Democratic Party? No — because of meritocracy. The Democrats, he argues, have become the party of identity politics, of judging ideas by who said them and candidates by race or gender rather than merit; DEI, in his formulation, means exclusion rather than inclusion. The argument is partly autobiographical. His father did not finish high school, his mother managed half a semester of college, and he rose, he says, on merit alone — as did friends who were Italian, Irish and Black. He does not claim anti-meritocracy is itself antisemitism, but he does argue that Jews have been disproportionate beneficiaries of meritocracy and so suffer disproportionately from its retreat.• Andrew's Pushback. The spine of the episode. One: has he become single-issue? His answer — that this is like asking a German in 1932 to vote on the economy — concedes the framing and defends it, arguing antisemitism is the only prejudice now moving in the wrong direction. Two: what about the antisemites of the right, Tucker Carlson and JD Vance? Republicans marginalize theirs, he says, while Democrats embrace theirs; he does not regard Vance as an antisemite, and does regard Carlson as one. Three: can a Jew criticize Israel without being an antisemite? Yes — he criticizes Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir, Smotrich and Likud; what he calls antisemitism is denying the state's right to exist, and his analogy is New Zealand. On the charge of genocide in Gaza he was categorical, calling those who use the word ignoramuses, liars and bigots — a characterization Andrew put to him twice. Four, and the exchange that lingers: why, in his account, is it always the Jews? “That question itself smacks of antisemitism,” he replied. “But you're the one who's said it,” Andrew answered. “I'm just asking you why.”• Never Boring. The lawyer's creed, and the personal coda. Dershowitz defends having represented people he despises — the Nazis who marched at Skokie; Palestinian students who wanted to fly their flag in Harvard Yard, an occasion he remembers fondly because he then spoke against Arafat at their own event; Jeffrey Epstein, whom he calls a terrible human being who did terrible things, and whose case he says he has volunteered to testify about before a House panel. His models are John Adams defending the redcoats after the Boston Massacre and Lincoln defending the guilty: the Sixth Amendment doesn't come with a character test. There is family cost — Larry David cut him off over his defence of Trump at the first impeachment, though the two have since made up — and family discipline: no politics at Thanksgiving or the Jewish New Year. Asked for one word he'd want attached to his name, he offered two: proudly Jewish, and American. And his wife's line, which he clearly relishes: the tombstone will say never boring. Andrew's verdict: we can all agree on that, if little else.
