From Divorce to Law School: Navigating a Journey of Change. Chicago Big Changes Are Trauma Lawyer Divorce and Family. Julie's story is one of profound transformation. Her path was far from straightforward, from the emotional upheaval of divorce. Seeking a new direction, Julie made the bold decision to attend law school. She threw herself into her studies and earned her law degree. However, instead of taking the expected route of becoming a practicing attorney, Julie chose an unconventional path that left many baffled—she decided not to practice law at all. Why would someone endure the rigors of law school only to step away from the profession? For Julie, it was about understanding that appearances can be deceiving. From the outside, her choices might have seemed puzzling, but she was on a deeply personal quest for meaning and fulfillment that extended beyond the traditional boundaries of a legal career. Your immune system sends antibodies to your liver tissues, causing inflammation (hepatitis). These antibodies are normally supposed to attack infections in your liver tissues. But in autoimmune disease, your immune system mistakenly attacks your own healthy cells instead.Autoimmune hepatitis causes chronic inflammation in your liver, which may cause serious damage over time. Like other types of chronic hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis can lead to scarring of your liver tissues (cirrhosis). Creating Boundaries and Building Confidence: A Personal JourneyI used to say "Yes" to everything. "Yes, I'll do this. Yes, I'll do that." I ended up exhausted, with no boundaries, constantly pushing myself to the brink. I told myself it was because I wanted to be nice and help people, but that was just a lie. The real reason was that I wanted people to like me.Creating boundaries is crucial for feeling in control of our lives. It enhances that psychological safe haven we all crave. It's about more than just setting limits; it's about gaining confidence and realizing that you are in charge of your life. While some people's opinions may matter a little, most don't.One of the biggest boosts to my confidence, beyond stopping the endless self-comparisons, was understanding the power of boundaries and surrounding myself with positive people. Look at the people around you. Are they lifting you up or dragging you down? Surround yourself with those who positively impact your life. Judgmental or critical people can seriously damage your mental strength and self-esteem.If you constantly feel awful about yourself, and you're surrounded by negativity, it will reinforce that negative narrative in your mind. Many people don't realize that their closest friends, partners, kids, or even parents can be incredibly negative and harm their self-esteem. Learn to accept these compliments. Recognize the people who genuinely support and uplift you and keep them close.Walking in confidence isn't a quick fix; it's a daily practice. Everyone has to work on this, myself included. Mika, Tia, all of us need to consistently practice building confidence and maintaining boundaries. Don't let your life be defined by negativity, lack of boundaries, or constant comparison. Instead, become familiar with holding your head high, appreciating your unique gifts, and embracing positivity.⭐Get OBSESSED with changing your life. Stop Aging. Start Anti Aging and Becoming The Best Version of YOURSELF!t 45, it is said, women begin to loose a marketable quality in relationships and in their careers. The number 45 has become the demarcation between youthful vigor and gradual decline. The Invisible Woman Syndrome pinpoints this year as the marker of when we start to see the affects of aging and slowly fade into the corner. On February 2nd, 2020 it was a sequin studded moment of happenstance that the Invisible Woman Syndrome was graced with a new poster child. It was with choreographed precision produced by the Jennifer Lopez Team that millions gasped and knew our half-time as women could not be ignored. , Her performance was a prolific statement oozing in decadence and packaged with jaw dropping sexual bravado. J.LO orbited the pole on Super Bowl Sunday to be met with quiet admiration from ladies like myself as we witnessed a tiny crack in the collective attitude towards aging. With a leader like Jennifer Lopez at the helm we are equally bombarded with counter intuitive messages that our 50's shall be relegated to a space of decreased sexual appeal, decreased professional importance and a rapid influx of health issues . And leading the way are advertisers like Osteo Bi-Flex. @ostebi-flex #osteobiflex Marketing our Invisibility to the Masses. How 52 is marketed by Osteo Bi-Flex: She is the main character in an advertisement for a joint relief supplement (pictured above). She is visibly aged with long grey hair and costumed in an evergreen uniform of khakis and a practical cardigan. With the numbers 52 blazing on the screen you become acutely aware that this number represents the effort of a major corporation who capitalizes on further propagating the stereotype of the Invisible Woman. To be fair, this 52 year old woman looks happy- relishing her spinsterhood. However, behind the smile is a dedicated marketing machine pedaling a message of mid-century malaise. It is a message that has been solidified and sold to the masses that our relevance in society diminishes at a rapid rate as we enter our fifth decade. Visit our website and share your story! In today's episode, we delve into the complexities of life's challenges and the importance of knowing you're not alone. I share some profound realizations I've had recently, emphasizing the value of having a coach, therapist, or impartial confidant to navigate life's twists and turns, big or small.Even those seemingly trivial issues can weigh heavily on us, impacting our daily narratives and self-perception. We often find ourselves battling our inner demons, especially during certain stages of life or under external pressures like hormonal shifts or dreary weather.Reflecting on past joys, I realize the need to break free from unhealthy coping mechanisms, like escaping into Netflix binges, and instead seek genuine connections and community interactions. This realization is a cathartic journey, acknowledging that while my struggles may not be as severe as others', they are still valid and worth sharing.I aspire to be a beacon of strength and positivity for others, but honesty compels me to admit my own struggles. Suppressing emotions only perpetuates isolation, hindering the potential for empathy and understanding among us all.So, let's embrace the power of storytelling, both internally and externally. Let's challenge the facade of perfection and encourage authenticity. Because it's through these shared experiences and vulnerabilities that we truly connect and find solace in our shared humanity. We want to know who you are obsessed with--Watch Us LIVE on YouTube Every Monday - @obsessedpodcastJoin us as we interview thought leaders like Gary Vaynerchuk, Evan Carmichael, Dr. Laura Berman and MORE!And learn about how we are changing the world every day: THE WOMEN OF OBSESSEDGet Obsessed with us. What does loneliness mean?According to Brené Brown, acclaimed author of "Atlas of the Heart," loneliness is not merely about being alone but rather the absence of meaningful social connections. It's the lack of intimate relationships, friendships, family gatherings, and community or work group ties that leaves one feeling isolated. In our current world, there's a visible trend of increasing disconnection among people, with divides widening across various lines such as race, gender, ethnicity, political beliefs, religions, and philosophies. Paradoxically, this disconnect is also fostering movements that strive to bring people together in solidarity, driven by a shared humanity and a collective yearning for a better world. However, navigating this landscape requires immense strength and vulnerability. Remaining open-hearted amidst the challenges of today's world is daunting yet essential for survival. Loneliness, therefore, is more than just physical solitude; it's a state of disconnection that can affect anyone, even when surrounded by others, as exemplified by Tia's experience of profound loneliness following her sister's passing. In this episode, Tia and Julie explore the nuances of loneliness, its link to disconnection, and strategies for overcoming it. They share personal insights and stories, shedding light on the journey from loneliness and disconnection towards rebuilding connections and finding belonging. This episode is dedicated to Shelby Sandahl, Tia's beloved sister, whose impact on others' lives is remembered with love and gratitude.Key takeaways from this episode include:Understanding the distinction between loneliness and solitude.Recognizing loneliness as a symptom of disconnection.Navigating the depths of despair and self-compassion.Cultivating self-awareness to confront loneliness.Embracing the inevitability of change and its impact on relationships.Developing emotional resilience as a shield against pain.Engaging in the process of rebuilding and reconnecting with one's community. For further exploration, resources mentioned in the episode include Brené Brown's insights on core emotions and her book "Atlas of the Heart," along with the podcast episode "Obsessed with Leaning into Grief" featuring Heidi Dunstan. Amazon.com: Audiocasters: The Ultimate Guide To Podcasting: 9781736379899: Lokun, Julie, Bellizzi, Corinna: BooksA SNEAK PEAK:Julie Lokun: Welcome to Audiocasters: The Ultimate Guide to Podcasting, where we explore the world of podcasting and provide valuable insights for aspiring podcasters. Today, we're diving into the importance of personal branding and how it relates to your podcast. So, let's get started.[Theme music fades]Julie Lokun: While podcasting can be as easy or as difficult as you wanna make it, we are of the opinion that if you're going to podcast, do it right. It all begins with asking yourself a few crucial questions. Why are you interested in podcasting? Who are you hoping to reach? What change will you affect?Julie Lokun: By answering these questions, you'll be able to define a mission statement that acts as your guiding force as you navigate the world of podcasting and beyond. This journey also involves developing your personal brand, the very thing you want to be known for. It's time to start building a brand you love as a podcaster, a brand that evokes emotion.Julie Lokun: Your brand should be consistent with your podcast titles and your online presence. We often associate brands with companies and products, like the golden arches of McDonald's or the simple logo of Apple. However, in today's world, anything can be a brand. Even as an individual, you have a personal brand. So, what is your personal brand?Julie Lokun: Whether you're known for your snaps or still using a typewriter, you have a brand that exists both online and offline. Luckily, there are great tools and resources available to help you build your personal branding process. Utilize them to leave the right impression on people who look you up online.Julie Lokun: Now, the idea of professional branding versus personal branding may make some people uncomfortable. However, if you don't take control of your personal brand online, you're missing out on opportunities and allowing others to control your narrative. The concepts and processes of branding are applicable to every entrepreneur on the planet, regardless of their specific circumstances and goals.Julie Lokun: Personal branding is essential because, without a story behind your brand, your podcast or book is just an inanimate object. A story connects with your audience and has the power to bring you and your vision alive. This is why personal branding is an obsession of mine.Julie Lokun: I often encounter skepticism when I ask the question, "What is your personal brand?" I get responses like, "I don't need personal branding," or, "It seems so narcissistic." The truth is, if you don't control your brand, others will. People make judgments based on how you present yourself. Therefore, you create a personal brand just by existing.Julie Lokun: Personal branding is an essential cog in the professional branding machine and is the essence of who you are as an entrepreneur. By embracing your brand, you live it intrinsically and extrinsically. Your core values and beliefs are directly reflected in how you present and manage your professional identity. Personal branding and professional branding are one and the same. your brand.Join Our Community And Create A Buzz For Your BusinessWelcome to The Mediacasters, the ultimate podcast hosted by Julie Lokun. It can hinder career growth, limit opportunities for leadership roles, and prevent effective communication with others. Recognizing the negative consequences of this fear can serve as a powerful motivator to overcome it. Actionable Tips to Overcome the Fear of Public SpeakingPreparation: One of the best ways to alleviate anxiety is through thorough preparation. Research your topic, create an outline, and practice your speech or presentation multiple times. Familiarity breeds confidence.Start small: Begin by speaking in front of a small and supportive audience, such as friends, family, or a local Toastmasters club. Gradually increase the audience size to build up your confidence over time.Visualization and positive affirmations: Before your speaking engagement, visualize yourself delivering a successful presentation. Use positive affirmations to reinforce your confidence and belief in your abilities.Breathing exercises: Deep breathing exercises can help calm your nerves before speaking. Take slow, deep breaths, hold them for a few seconds, and exhale slowly. Repeat this several times to relax your body and mind.Engage the audience: Instead of focusing solely on your fear, shift your attention towards connecting with the audience. Interact with them, ask questions, and encourage participation. Building a connection will help ease anxiety.Seek professional help: If your fear of public speaking is severe, consider working with a professional public speaking coach or therapist. In 2016 she published Quantum Love: Use Your Body's Atomic Energy to Create the Relationship You Desire. In 2021, she started her podcast ‘The Language of Love'Visit Her Website: https://drlauraberman.com/pages/mediaDr. Laura has, for decades, pushed the envelope in speaking her truth. As she was a regular contributor to the Oprah Winfrey show, she opened millions of peoples eyes to topics like sex, relationships and love. In 2021, her mission shifted. Dr. Laura is living proof that in moments of deep pain it is possible to experience flickers of joy. Her testimony and her years of research were met with a collision of unimaginable darkness that defies this world's natural order of existence. On February 7, 2021, Dr. Laura walked into her sixteen-year-old son's bedroom to have a chat with him and found him lying on the floor aspirating. Despite a valiant effort from medical responders, he remained listless and unresponsive. That moment was the demarcation of a new way of existing. On that heartbreaking day, Dr. Laura began a life that was void of the earthly connection to the child who infused laughter and joy into her life.Dr. Laura immediately accessed her default mode. By nature, she is a helper, and through her blinding pain, she knew she had to reach out to help others. She understood that her celebrity status could help spare other mothers the pain of losing a child. Within hours, she had shared her story on social media.“My beautiful boy is gone. 16 years old. Sheltering at home. A drug dealer connected with him on Snapchat and gave him fentanyl-laced Xanax or Percocet (toxicology will tell) and he overdosed in his room. They do this because it hooks people even more and is good for business but It causes overdose and the kids don't know what they are taking. My heart is completely shattered and I am not sure how to keep breathing. I post this now only so that not one more kid dies. We watched him so closely. "

Are you a rule follower? Is your love for rules allowing you to like a maverick mindset? #breaktherules Inspired by the movie Top Gun and the mindset of Maverick-this is the tools you need to live an unorthodox life. How can we, as humans up our game with emotional integrity? Quite simply it is to take calculated risks and be authentic. Ask yourself- are feeling burnout from doing everything and nothing is happening? If the answer is yes, listen on. Personal and professional satisfaction starts with self-awareness. Life satisfaction starts and begins with living an unorthodox life. Building your personal or professional brand begins on a journey of discovery. The Maverick-Inspired tips to holistic growth:Tip #1: The MissionFirst and foremost, our favorite tool is writing a mission statement. There is profound power in seeing the foundation of your vision and values scrawled on paper. A mission statement cannot simply be written and read.Your mission statement needs to be lived.A mission statement needs to articulate why you exist, what you stand for and the goals you strive for. On paper, your mission statement is powerful. However, inaction nullifies your mission. A mission statement is only powerful when you take inspired action.I am obsessed with the power of a mission statement. It can be a confusing exercise in putting pen to paper-so I often recommend Franklin Covey's Mission Statement Builder. This mission statement builder is easy to follow and prompts you with questions to curate a statement that reflects where you are and where you want to go.For more about living a maverick mindset listen to our episode on The Mediacasters featuring Garry E. Hall!Post Script:We just had the opportunity to interview the original Maverick, helicopter pilot, and really nice human and family man, Rear Admiral Garry E. Hall. This week, in a clear win for women in sports, a landmark decision was reached. Women who play soccer for the United States will now earn the same amount as men in a landmark equal pay win. In honor of this momentous moment, we are sharing a podcast from The Mediacasters community - The Forgotten XI. This show, hosted by Chris Mcglynn, a gentleman, soccer-lover and ally to women everywhere. He was perturbed by the fact that the men's team gets so much more attention and money than the women's team, even though the women's team was knocking it out of the park, winning world cup after world cup. He was inspired to start this podcast to unveil the often ignored and forgotten history of The Women's Game of Soccer / Football. We love it and know you will too! Show Description: Women have been playing football for 150 years. It's always been political. Rapinoe is not the first to cause controversy. We go back to the beginning to tell the stories of the players and teams that made history. We explore everything we can find from the first female pro teams to the forgotten World Cups. The Forgotten XI: Episode #8: Bella Ciao! (originally published in December 2019 and shared with permission)In 1932, a group of high school girls play a soccer match in Italy. But this is Mussolini's Italy. These young women are challenging not just sexism, but fascism. In so doing, they set off a series of remarkable events which will forever change Italy and women's football around the world. Many thanks to Marco Giani for all his research on GFC Milan, follow him on twitter @calciatrici1933Follow Forgotten XI on Twitter here @forgottenxiWatch The 1970 Women's World Cup (highlights)Share this episode!Join the conversation, see PHOTOS OF THE TEAMS mentioned in this episode and, if you like, help with research. Curiosity is the lynchpin in building creating great leaders, avoiding conflict, and changing the neuroplasticity of our brains. We are joined by the Obsessed bestie, Corinna Bellizzi, who explains how curiosity can solve most of the world's problems. The #obsessedpodcast is OBSESSED with Brene Brown and her latest book "Atlas of The Heart". Brene defines curiosity as:Curiosity is the feeling of deprivation we experience when we identify and focus on a gap in our knowledge. •We need to have some level of awareness and interest in a topic before we become truly curious. •When we are curious, the brain is primed to learn and retain information.• Curiosity can be uncomfortable because it requires uncertainty and vulnerability.• Curiosity is about listening and asking the right questions.• “Tell me more” is a great curiosity rumble tool.• In the context of solving problems, failure to be curious results in poor solutions. Curiosity means focusing on the nature of the problem before even considering a solution.• Curiosity and knowledge-building grow together—the more we know, the more we want to know.Learn more about the Obsessed Bestie Corinna Bellizzi and all the good she is doing in the world:Corinna Bellizzi, MBA is a natural products industry executive who pioneered the growth of the omega-3 giant, Nordic Naturals, from less than $1 million in annual revenues to over $100 million.
