Get 50% off your Brain Map at Peak Brain with code ANGELA at www.peakbraininstitute.com In the first of a two-part conversation, Angela talks to Dr Andrew Hill, a brain mapping expert, to explore the intricacies of brain mapping and its implications for optimising mental performance and overall well-being. They discuss the science behind brain waves, the importance of sleep quality, and how various lifestyle factors, such as diet and exercise timing, can influence cognitive function. Andrew shares insights on the significance of deep sleep, the role of nutrition in brain health, and the effectiveness of sleep trackers, while debunking common myths about circadian rhythms and light exposure. KEY TAKEAWAYS Brain mapping involves measuring the brain's resting resources using EEG to analyse brainwave patterns. It helps identify tendencies related to attention, stress, sleep, and cognitive processing, rather than specific thoughts or feelings. Quality of sleep is crucial for cognitive function and overall health. Poor sleep can lead to issues like memory difficulties and cognitive decline, but improvements in sleep quality can lead to quick recovery in brain function. Eating patterns significantly influence circadian rhythms. Fasting before bed and timing meals appropriately can enhance sleep quality and metabolic health. Morning activity in a fasted state is also beneficial for regulating circadian rhythms. While sleep trackers can provide insights into sleep duration and patterns, they may not accurately measure the quality of deep sleep or REM sleep. Self-reporting on sleep quality can be just as effective as using these devices. BEST MOMENTS "Brain mapping is measuring the patterns, the resting resources in your brain... it's mostly picking up how you tend to be. The resources in terms of their general way of being." "If you have a habit of eating before bed, you're going to chronically be under-rested because you're not getting into deep sleep." "I think humans are ultimately quite adaptable... people that think they're night owls are people that have dysregulated circadian rhythms." "The most sophisticated sleep trackers are no more accurate than self-report after a month of self-report." In the expansive realm of mental health and cognitive enhancement, neurofeedback emerges as a particularly promising approach to brain training. It offers exciting possibilities for optimizing brain function and mental well-being. But what is neurofeedback, and how does it work? Join us on a journey through the brain's intricate pathways, guided by insights from Andrew Hill, a pioneer in the field. Introduction to Neurofeedback Neurofeedback's origins trace back to the early 20th century with the discovery of the EEG (Electroencephalogram), which laid the groundwork for understanding brain waves. By the mid-1960s, the foundations of modern neurofeedback were established. This technique trains the brain's electrical activity through operant conditioning, similar to how a baby learns through exploration and feedback. To fully understand neurofeedback, one must first grasp the basics of EEG and the brain's complex structure. EEG measures the brain's electrical activity, providing insights into its function. The cortex, with its six layers of tissue, serves as the command center for processing information. Different brainwave frequencies, from Delta to Beta, reflect various states and functions of the brain, revealing its inner workings. Exploring Brainwave Frequencies Each brainwave frequency has its significance. Delta waves, linked to deep sleep, facilitate memory consolidation. Theta waves promote insight and creativity, although excessive Theta can cause distractibility. Beta waves are associated with focused attention but can become intrusive in excess, leading to OCD-like behaviors. Neurofeedback sessions are personalized experiences, tailored to individual goals and brainwave patterns. Through Quantitative EEG (QEEG), individuals can compare their brainwave patterns to those of age-matched peers, identifying unique traits. These sessions, typically lasting 20-30 minutes, gradually train the brain to regulate its activity, enhancing executive function, creativity, and emotional regulation. Despite its potential, neurofeedback faces skepticism from traditional medical and pharmaceutical industries, due to historical controversies. However, advancements in technology have made neurofeedback more accessible and effective in treating various conditions, facilitating broader acceptance. Dr. Barry Sterman's groundbreaking research inadvertently discovered neurofeedback's potential in reducing seizures. Despite early successes, funding challenges and skepticism slowed its widespread adoption. Andrew Hill's pioneering efforts have sought to unravel the mechanisms behind neurofeedback's effectiveness, pushing the field forward. The Future of Neurofeedback As research progresses, the future of neurofeedback looks promising. Current efforts aim to deepen our understanding of its mechanisms and enhance efficacy. Remote neurofeedback programs offer tailored brain training from home, supported by coaches and personalized protocols. Future advancements may include longitudinal brain data tracking and intelligent avatars for testing interventions, heralding a new era of personalized brain optimization. In essence, neurofeedback holds the key to unlocking the mind's potential, offering a pathway to enhanced cognitive function and mental well-being. As we delve deeper into the brain's mysteries, the possibilities appear limitless, ushering in a brighter future for humanity's most complex organ. In this podcast you will learn about: Neurofeedback: Harnessing brain waves for optimal mental well-being. EEG Insights: Understanding the brain's electrical activity for personalized training. Tailored Sessions: Customized neurofeedback journeys for individual goals and brain patterns. Overcoming Skepticism: Technological advancements pave the way for wider acceptance. During the 100+ interviews that have been done for The Health Detective Podcast, Detective Ev noticed something... He saw that an OVERWHELMING amount of people that were interviewed were current or "recovering" Type-A personalities. (That is the go-go-go type, for those unfamiliar.) It makes sense that, in an already toxic world, having a personality that is associated with higher stress levels would not be a good thing to add on. Thankfully, our clients and practitioners are usually able to overcome these obstacles and get their health back. But, that still leaves one problem... Those people are still go-getters at heart! Is it possible to have your (gluten free) cake and eat it too once healthy? The answer is an absolute, 100,000% YES! What we need to learn to do, though, is OPTIMIZE the time we spend working instead of just adding on more and more hours to our workday. That's why we brought on Greg Gostincar, founder of Your Inception. Like most of us, Greg is an ambitious person whose health took a major decline when he was simply unable to push any harder. Because of this, he learned to work smarter, and eventually became a certified Brain Health professional. About Greg: Greg Gostincar, a certified brain health professional and the creator of Your Inception, has devoted his life to helping health-conscious professionals achieve peak brain and mental performance by using effective, science-based techniques combined with the power of nature. All these questions were taken from The Life Stylist Podcast Facebook Group, which I highly encourage you to join so you can submit your questions and likely have them answered on a future episode just like this. Before we get into it, I always like to remind you that this is not meant to be taken as medical advice. It's always best to check with a professional before making changes to your diet or lifestyle. What I will be sharing today is a combination of my two decades in the health and wellness field based on my subjective experience and knowledge at this time. 08:06 — Brinn asks: Hi friends! Any tips on staying grounded spiritually during this ridiculous time? I’m a new mom and I find myself worrying about different things that could happen to my daughter as a result of whatever the heck is going on right now (i.e. forced vaccinations, lack of human connection, a masked society, etc) Limit doom porn exposure, especially the news, whether that’s mainstream or alternative. Meditate. I like to use the Joe Dispenza meditation tracks. NuCalm BrainTap Apollo Stress Relief Wearable Device The Rasha Kundalini yoga: RA MA TV, Nine Treasures Yoga Breathwork - Wim Hof Method Mobile App Get outdoors, get sun, especially at dusk and dawn. Avoid blue light at night to keep your neurotransmitters balanced. Focus on gut health for the same reason. Make quality sleep a top priority. Use the ChiliPad or OOLER and track your sleep with the Oura Ring. 22:38 — Samantha asks: Hello smart people. I’ve been diagnosed with long term Lyme and am looking for ways or products to help me detox without ingesting supplements (already doing that). Any suggestions? Thanks! Use energy medicine: The AmpCoil - I talk about this in episodes 98 and 173. If you can’t afford one, find a practitioner or healer in your area. Dr. Rashid Buttar’s clinic in North Carolina Dr. Frank Shallenberger in Reno, Nevada The Rasha in Reno or find a practitioner who uses one 30:46 — Carly asks: Luke referenced eye drops that he used to help his vision when he was having problems with it and I can’t recall what they were. Does anyone know? I’m in need! I was doing some peptide drops from Russia but I found something way better! I fill up an eyedropper with Quinton sea mineral solution. The isotonic version, NOT the hypertonic. This seawater solution is collected from plankton blooms deep in the ocean and purified. It has all the trace elements and minerals essential to all life on earth. Future podcast guest Robert Slovak taught me this trick. He’s a water genius, and we do a deep dive into Quinton minerals. They are also incredible for fertility and many other applications. 38:54 — Erin asks: Does anyone have good info or resources for children with ADD? The most effective natural treatment I’m aware of is neurofeedback. I’ve done a lot of this at Peak Brain Institute in west LA, and you can learn about it on episode 30 with Dr. Andrew Hill. Peak Brain does remote training, and there are other practitioners all over the world. This modality has been a huge part of my brain healing, including a week-long training I did at 40 Years of Zen, Dave Asprey’s clinic. Neurofeedback is a non-invasive way to retrain your brain to manage brainwaves. You teach your brain to behave the way you want it. Great for PTSD, ADD, ADHD, focus, memory, high performance, and more. 43:05 — Penelope asks: I had a B12 shot at the pharmacy yesterday and usually I feel great after. I feel like they gave me the flu shot instead. The receipt says b12 but this feels really crappy. Has anyone else experienced such a thing? I’ve never had an adverse reaction to injectable nutrients. Bodies are sensitive though, not only to physical molecules but also to energy, and the world is insane at the moment. Could be anything. I wouldn’t blame it on the B12. 45:18 — Maggie asks: Does anyone remember the books Luke often mentions about the concept of "surrender?” The #1 book on surrender is “Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender” by Dr. David R. Hawkins. It’s about learning how to fully experience all emotions without fighting them. The other is called “The Surrender Experiment” by Michael Singer. Amazing book! It’s more of a life story about how surrendering to everything and anything led him on an incredibly successful life mission. I also did a solo show from a live gig at Aspen Shakti on episode 115, where I talked in great detail about my 24-year journey into deep surrender. 58:32 — Elisa asks: What is the best at-home colon cleanse? I’ve been a fan of Gravity Colonics for 20+ years. They are the most thorough, gentle, and natural. You can get something called a Colema board online at colema.com. There is also a colonic clinic/retreat spot on the big island called Angel Farms, which I went to 20 years ago to detox drugs. It was incredible! Do that, then just do maintenance at home. 01:05:45 — Stefania asks: Hi! I feel like this group may have the guidance I am looking for. I am deciding on an apartment that has power lines running close behind the bedroom windows and balcony area. Is this dangerous/EMF producing? There are three big power lines close to the windows. Your best bet is to have a building biologist test them. Sometimes they’re really bad, other times not so much. You can test the magnetic field yourself with a tri field meter to get an idea. I have some about 20 feet away from my house and they’re not that bad. Take the EMF Masterclass to learn all the tricks. 01:09:41 — Tana asks: Does anyone have natural remedies for ringing in the ear? I wish! Everyone, please let me know if you hear of anything. The only solution I have found is to 100% ignore it. 01:12:53 — Caleb asks: Has anyone here supplemented with shilajit as a mineral supplement? Seems really interesting and I am curious to try it for my mineral supplementation. I’ve been on shilajit for 10 years or so just about every day PristineHydro makes a great powered version Shilajit Powder with Triphala: Shilajit Powder is composed of 84 Organic Plant-Based Minerals, Fulvic, Humic, and Ulmic acids, blended with Triphala, which is one of the most popular herbal remedies in the health food industry that promotes bowel movement. The reason Triphala is added to Shilajit is quite simple since a very common problem for so many individuals is constipation and bowel irregularity. I bought a few kilos of the tar a few years ago from a private source in Siberia, and it lasted me forever. It is said to be a great source of minerals, and even more so fulvic acid. If you want minerals, get some of the Quinton sea mineral solution I mentioned earlier as well. It’s not about how many minerals you eat, but rather what you assimilate. I prefer plant-based minerals over synthetic, but for magnesium, you can’t beat Magnesium Breakthrough, which has 7 different forms. It’s incredible. 01:17:03 — Bret asks: For those of you not on city water, do you prefer well water or rainwater harvesting? for such reasons as drinking, overall health, bathing (skin, hair), etc? This is a huge topic and could be a whole solo show I would have both types of water tested before considering drinking. Rainwater is full of acids and chemtrails. Well water could have any number of metals or other contaminants. For bathing I would say anything is better than city/tap water, but for drinking, this requires a solid strategy. Did a quick group search but looking for some quick clarity. I live in Denver and due to the fires we currently sit at #5 worst air quality in the WORLD! Also, any advice on maintaining good respiratory health is greatly appreciated. The whole household is feeling super blah. Listen to episode 260 where I discuss air filtration. I’ve been working on the air purifier thing for years. It’s so hard to weed through the BS. I have a couple of Austin Air HEPA filters downstairs for big particles. In the bedroom, I only use the Air Doctor which I love! Easy to clean, has an auto mode, and even a blue light button. It filters mold, bacteria, viruses, and more. As for EMF, as long as it doesn’t have Bluetooth or wifi it’s not an issue. I keep mine across the room, way farther than a magnetic or electric field could ever reach. No matter what it is, never keep anything plugged into power near you, especially while sleeping More about this episode. Watch it on YouTube. JOIN MY NEW ONLINE EMF HOME SAFETY MASTERCLASS! Are you concerned about your exposure to the current 3G, 4G, and 5G wireless networks now activated in most major cities? Have you attempted to test the levels yourself using EMF meters you found online and ended up confused and frustrated? EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies) are one of the most toxic elements in our living and work environments. Due to the technical nature of accurately testing for them—and the training required to do so properly—many of us resign ourselves to the fact that we just have to accept them and the consequences they bring in order to use the modern technology we depend on. But you don’t have to. In this seven-part video documentary series, you will follow world-renowned building biologist Brian Hoyer as he tests an entire home, room by room, to determine the source and level of every known type of EMF. By the end of this series, you will not only be thoroughly educated on the various types and sources of EMF commonly found in homes but also of the many mitigation tools and techniques available thanks to the cutting-edge technologies. He was on humira and he keeps having allergic reactions to that family of drugs. Any biohacks you guys know of that specifically help? I know stress triggers it... I was thinking of getting him a Biomat mini or belt... what else? Giving a blanket answer to this question is tough because it ignores everyone's bio-individuality. That said, a good guideline to follow would be, as a first step: give the problem some crutches to lean on. This means giving the inflammatory response a break for a moment so that your gut can soothe itself — at least for long enough to absorb the nutrients you're going to need to begin healing. Eliminating the most obvious food sensitivities like nuts, eggs, dairy, wheat, processed foods, nightshades, etc. Once that's dialed in, go a level up and consider removing high-histamine foods that could be perpetuating the inflammatory cycle. And then, once a little more stable, support detoxification by getting in a light daily sweat, and eating steamed foods that assist the liver, like dandelion, artichoke, beets, cruciferous vegetables, garlic, and gluten-free oats. And all the while, prioritize meditation, sunlight, and lymphatic drainage. A light rebounding session on a Bellicon, or even just doing some jumping jacks on some carpeting can be a big help. To dive deep into all matters colitis, and IBD, someone who'd been a well-kept secret here in LA for several years, but is now out of LA, and entering the online world in a bigger way, is a personal friend of mine, Jordan Kravitz. Jordan was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2015, and after getting handed the pamphlets about all the drugs he'd need from the head of the IBD clinic here at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, Jordan laughed at him and told him to keep his drugs. He then went on an absolutely crazy journey to reverse Crohn's Disease, and today enjoys excellent digestive health, thanks to his unique approach to healing inflammatory gut issues of all kinds. It's been three summers in a row that I have the same melasma “map” on my forehead and side of my face. I only use sunscreen if I stay in the sun longer than an hour. Lipofuscin has three constituents: Oestrogen + Iron + PUFAs = LipofuscinIn In other words, the polyunsaturated fats (canola oil, soy oil, corn oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, fish oil, flax oil etc) we consume in our food (and rub into our skin in the form of moisturisers), the iron we eat from red meat and green vegetables, and the oestrogen our bodies produce naturally combine to form this brown, fatty waste product that clogs up our cells and, as we age, forms liver spots. Where does sunlight fit into this picture? Dr Peat explains that when we’re exposed to UV light, it can cause damage to unsaturated fatty acid molecules in our skin, producing free radicals. Manage your iron intake. This is one of the most important pieces of the age spots puzzle. One way of managing your iron levels is to give blood regularly; there’s evidence that this can even reduce your risk of heart attack and strokes. Donating blood can be especially helpful for men and post-menopausal women, because they do not lose any blood through menstruation. Reduce your intake of PUFAs Increase your intake of vitamin E (a powerful antioxidant) Pay attention to your estrogen levels, for men and women Listen to what Nadine Artemis has to say about the sun Vitamin D app: dminder.ontometrics.com Get Surthrival’s D3+K2 Daylight Concentrate (use code “lifestylist” for 10% off) Quicksilver Scientific also has a great D3+K2 combo Episode 6: The Great Sunshine Swindle with Nadine Artemis 01:55:10 — Mazena asks: Male pattern baldness. Anybody have any tips? I know it could be a lot of things but I'm open to suggestions so I can pinpoint what's going on. I’ve heard this probably 100 times over the years Like most experimental, and extreme diets, they often work for a period of time, then the body falls out of balance. There has never, ever been a 100% vegan human civilization in recorded history, which is why i call it experimental We don't yet know if it's safe. it would take 2-3 generations of 100% vegan people to breed 100% vegan kids, who then breed with 100% vegan people a few times over to see if its viable In my experience, being vegetarian or vegan is a form of fasting, or cleansing which can be amazing in the short term I prefer a balanced diet and to listen to my body and what it wants, since it is its own living organism, with its own innate intelligence If you do decide to phase out of this diet, try starting with bone broth (no additional animals die to make bone broth) or pastured eggs or wild caught, sustainably sourced fish. or even just oysters. To me, any diet that is deficient in critical nutrients and thus requires that you take supplements to fill the gap, is likely not a natural human diet because that would ot require supplements like b vitamins, vitamin a etc. Study the work of Dr. Weston Price for more info on the natural human diet and nutrient deficiencies Check out next tuesday’s episode: Why You Can't Beat Meat: The Ultimate Carnivore Diet Guide W/ Dr. Paul Saladino Episode 245: Wild Fed: How To Become A Modern Day Hunter-Gatherer w/ Daniel Vitalis *Vegan Trigger Warning Episode 94: Why I'm Not a Vegan - Daniel Vitalis All that said, to me, what trumps diet is avoiding non-native EMF and blue light. circadian biology wins over nutrient biology in my book. get into sync with nature, as nature is where creation’s wisdom lies 02:10:00 — Richard asks: Anyone have personal experience with improving eyesight naturally??? [20:50] I find events and meetups where like-minded people hang: yoga classes, meditation classes, sound baths, breathwork classes, etc. I go to all the health seminars and meet people I go on yoga and health retreats I’ve recently fallen in love with plant medicine ceremonies I search for people on geotags at biohacking spots where you live, like cryotherapy spas, sauna spas, etc Reach out to people in our Facebook group to find locals Lisa asks: What is the Brain mapping treatment you have done and has it helped? [31:40] Lisa is probably referring to something called neurofeedback, which is clinically proven to treat PTSD, insomnia, trauma, anxiety, depression, ADD, and ADHD I go to Peak Brain with Dr. Andrew Hill I also recently had a SPECT brain scan at Dr. Daniel Amen's clinic in Orange County, and he found that my brain is not in great shape. The scan showed an overactive amygdala, an underachieving cerebellum, and a fairly sizable area of my left frontal lobe that is getting very little blood flow. The protocol I’m doing to fix it involves many of the following modalities, as well as buying my own hyperbaric oxygen chamber for myself for Christmas, and taking a lot more fish oil. I hear so many conflicting messages from the health gurus on fish oil that, frankly, I’m super confused. But based on Dr. Amen's recommendations and experience, I’m going to be taking a lot more of that, at least until I heal my brain. Some of the other work I’m getting into is the Joe Dispenza books and meditations. You use breath and harmonizing your energy centers or chakras to change your brain. I’m also doing his week-long intensive in February in Indian Wells, CA, to do further work on my dome. I use an app called Mind Movies to retrain my brain with the goals and dreams I want to manifest, per Joe Dispenza I did something called PSYCH-K therapy, which rewires subconscious trauma, as does EMDR I’ve also been experimenting with micro-dosing LSD and psilocybin mushrooms and working on deep meditations those days. Ben Greenfield talked a lot about this on this week’s podcast, episode 250. There is an incredible device called the Lucia Light that alters your brain chemistry and ability to access deep learning and creativity. I have an episode all about this light coming soon as well. I’ve also done DNRS to heal my amygdala and remove negative stimuli. I'll be taking Annie Hopper’s DNRS course in 2020, and I’m also doing the online version very soon. I’ve also been training my cerebellum using the Zing Performance software, as covered in episode 246. The thing I'm most excited about is working with Dr. Lana Bach-Morrow, a Ph.D. neuroscientist that has developed a very powerful brain training software program called THINK Interfaces. So there is a lot of work to be done on the brain. Not only your thinking, from a metaphysical standpoint, but also on the physical brain itself. Sarah asks: I want to hear your thoughts on Epstein-Barr Virus. [54:20] I admittedly don't know a lot about viruses, but I do know that they are quite rampant and need to be dealt with. My first move would be getting very thorough blood work done, then work with a solid functional medicine doctor to begin to treat them. Medical Medium celery protocol seems weird to me since commercial celery (even if organic) is grown with NPK fertilizers and poisonous irrigation water, in some cases, which are incredibly toxic and throw all of your minerals into chaos. That said, the Medical Medium’s theory on Epstein-Barr being at the root of so many other co-infections makes a lot of sense, and his EBV protocol has apparently healed tons of people, as whacky as it seems to me. Ozone: I would get a medical-grade ozone generator and do sessions many times per day rectally, vaginally, and in your ear canals. Ozone kills all viruses on contact. You can also find a clinic that does 10-pass ozone treatments, which I was doing for a while. This can be expensive, but also insanely effective for viruses. Study Frank Shallenberger’s work on ozone Also, there are many frequency-based technologies that can be effective in getting rid of viruses. I use Ampcoil and Biocharger. On the supplement side, you can try Lauricidin, which is the brand name for Monolaurin, a derivative of the lauric found in coconut oil. It's great for your gut and is also a powerful antiviral. I take this all the time for gut and immune system support. More about this episode. Neurofeedback http://learntruehealth.com/neurofeedback/ Neurofeedback: Unlocking The Brain The brain is such a powerful tool yet there are secrets to its power that we have yet to unlock. Hence, my guest, Dr. Andrew Hill is here to teach us how to make our brain function optimally. He will also explain what neurofeedback is all about. How It All Began Dr. Andrew Hill has been involved in clinical work for more than two decades. In college, he worked in a residential facility for developmentally disabled adults. Because these people were primarily non-verbal, Dr. Andrew Hill had to learn different techniques on how to understand them. “The verbal challenge in these individuals was so profound. I had to communicate with people in a very different way,” recalls Dr. Andrew Hill. Incidentally, the state of California and Massachusetts tend to lead the way in progressive health care reform in the United States. This piqued Dr. Andrew Hill’s interest to work with different populations. Dr. Andrew Hill was working in in-patient psychology when he first heard about neurofeedback. He eventually went on to graduate school to learn more about neurofeedback. What is Neurofeedback? According to Dr. Andrew Hill, neurofeedback is a form of Biofeedback in the brain. It was invented about 50 years ago. Neurofeedback was developed through the work of Dr. Joe Kamiya at the University of Chicago in the 1950s. It was eventually followed by Dr. Barry Sterman’s work at UCLA in the 1960s. Primarily, neurofeedback trains the brain to efficiently function. It is also known as EEG Biofeedback based on the EEG or electroencephalogram. The EEG is a test to monitor the electrical activity of the brain. Neurofeedback Through the Years During the 70s, neurofeedback was seen as a formed of spiritual development. It became known as a meditation or spiritual tool. There were conflicts in religious beliefs and limited medical findings at the time. Hence, people were skeptical about neurofeedback. However, because of constant research through the years that followed, neurofeedback was eventually used to treat patients with ADHD, psychological, and central nervous system disorders. It can also be used for treating stress and other emotional conditions. Dr. Andrew Hill, in fact, worked at the Neurodevelopment Center in Providence Island years ago, before opening his practice. The center specialized in addressing autistic spectrum disorders. “I witnessed autism symptoms getting reduced. Traits like obsessions, anxiety, over-arousal of things, eye contact, sense of humor and language significantly improved,” Dr. Andrew Hill said. He also said that the limits on real neurofeedback research are therapy. This is because you can’t patent it. Furthermore, it’s hard to get funding for large studies. According to Dr. Andrew Hill, the reason studies need to be large is because each person needs 30 to 50 sessions each. In addition to that, each treatment is tailor-made to the client. Techniques of Neurofeedback Mental Health professionals perform neurofeedback by placing a lot of wires called electrodes to the scalp. This allows them the ability to monitor brainwave activity through a special computer software. Though the software has some limitations, it aids a person into changing brain activity to a recommended level. Consequently, the brain is being molded into operating on a more regulated performance. Peak Brain Institute Dr. Andrew Hill’s Peak Brain Institute offers QEEG brain mapping, wherein every treatment is tailor-made for the client. The length of the program varies, and a qualified Peak Brain neuroscience team ensures follow-up sessions after your program is done. Clients are likewise taught how to monitor their brain activity on their own. But there are a lot of EEG headsets that are unreliable. Hence, Dr. Andrew Hill said it is best to get some assistance with a qualified neuroscience team. “I don’t think the most elaborate neurofeedback approaches are better. It can be misleading and they don’t do the work,” said Dr. Andrew Hill. “Our offices helps patients for first three months. And then we adjust protocols.” Role of Diet and Nutrition Dr. Andrew Hill says people with conditions like ADHD improve within 4 to 5 months of training. However, aside from the treatment, diet, and nutrition plays a significant role in making sure our brain is healthy. “The right diet significantly improves your brain’s health. Consequently, one should minimize sugar and maximize healthy fats,” advises Dr. Andrew Hill. The Best Intervention Many ask if neurofeedback is a cure. It is not. However, there have been numerous success stories attesting to the fact that neurofeedback significantly improved their health condition. In this regard, Dr. Andrew Hill likewise highly recommends people to learn the power of meditation. According to him, meditation is the process of anchoring or learning to stabilize your condition effortlessly. Dr. Andrew Hill believes that people can get good at meditation over time. Ideally, meditating at least 20 minutes for 10 to 15 days in a row can produce significant results. “Adhere to the process of evaluating what’s going on. Be curious, not judgemental,” said Dr. Andrew Hill. “Especially in meditation, you become flexible. Being healthy is not something you do in the gym. It’s what you do in your life.” Dr. Andre Hill is one of the top peak performance coaches in the country. He holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from UCLA’s Department of Psychology and continues to do research on attention and cognition. Research methodology includes EEG, QEEG, and ERP. He has been practicing neurofeedback since 2003. In addition to founding Peak Brain Institute, Dr. Andrew Hill is host of the Head First Podcast with Dr. Hill. He is also the Lead Neuroscientist at truBrain, and lectures at UCLA, teaching courses in psychology, neuroscience, and gerontology.
