The episode kicks off with an exciting scoop about a recently published deck from DoubleClick (get it here), revealing insights that highlight their conservative estimates regarding media revenue.  From there, it's an action-packed conversation about Why DOOH Matters, how it's being traded, and speculation on winners and losers as the programmatic pieces fall into place.TakeawaysMarket Size and Growth: The global DOOH market is approximately $21 billion, with $5 billion in the U.S. Despite growth, its share of advertising spend is declining, indicating challenges in capturing a larger market share.Fragmentation Challenges: The DOOH industry faces fragmentation, with many screens and networks leading to inefficiencies. Most programmatic transactions occur through private marketplaces (PMPs), complicating the buying process.Future of DOOH: The integration of DOOH with connected TV (CTV) and advancements in technology, such as first-party data utilization, are seen as key opportunities for growth and innovation in the sector.Attention Measurement: The collaboration between IAB and MRC for attention measurement accreditation is a significant step towards validating attention as a metric in advertising, which could benefit OOH advertising strategies.Chapters00:02:05 - Why Care About OOH/DOOH?00:02:23 - Case for DOOH00:02:49 - Market Size of DOOH00:04:07 - Growth Challenges in DOOH00:07:16 - Programmatic Transactions in DOOH00:08:03 - Leading Programmatic Companies in DOOH00:13:08 - Measurement in DOOH00:16:33 - Future of DOOH and CTV Convergence00:21:45 - Roku's Role in DOOH00:37:41 - Attention Measurement in OOHCheck out the Marketecture Podcast at https://www.marketecture.tv/Join OOH Insider and Placer.ai at The Premier Leadership Conference for those Building the Future with Location Analytics, December 10th, 2024 at Pier Sixty. PM Survival Skills for Project Managers & PMPs

PMP Exam Radioshow (Project Management)

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 12, 2023 14:19

Project Management (PM) is a complex discipline that involves planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve specific goals within a specified time. Being a successful Project Manager or a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) requires more than just understanding methodologies. It's about demonstrating a range of skills and abilities that can help to navigate through the often complex and unpredictable landscape of projects. Below are some survival skills essential for Project Managers and PMPs: Strong Communication: Good communication is vital to project management. It's crucial to establish clear, concise, and honest communication with team members, stakeholders, and clients. This means actively listening, asking insightful questions, and providing meaningful feedback. Leadership: Project managers must have the ability to guide their teams through the project process, encouraging collaboration, and addressing conflicts. They should be able to inspire and motivate the team members to work towards the project goals. Risk Management: Every project has its risks. The project manager's role is to identify potential risks early and plan for those risks. This involves contingency planning and proactively addressing issues before they become significant problems. Time Management: Project managers should master the art of prioritizing tasks and ensuring that the team sticks to deadlines. The ability to efficiently allocate time and resources is essential for project success. Flexibility and Adaptability: Projects rarely go exactly as planned. Project managers should be ready to adapt to changes and make necessary adjustments. This can range from changes in client requirements to unexpected obstacles. Technical Skills: Depending on the nature of the project, project managers should have a certain level of technical competence in the project area. This not only helps them understand the project better but also earns respect from their team members. Decision-Making: The ability to make informed, effective, and timely decisions is a critical skill for project managers. They should have the ability to weigh the pros and cons and make the best decision in the interest of the project. Financial Management: A basic understanding of financial principles like budgeting, financial risk management, and cost estimation can help project managers to keep the project within the agreed budget. Negotiation: Project managers often need to negotiate with stakeholders, team members, suppliers, and clients. This could be for resources, budgets, schedules, or changes in scope. Problem-solving: Problem-solving is at the core of project management. Project managers need to be resourceful and creative in solving problems that can arise in projects. These survival skills are crucial for Project Managers and PMPs to successfully manage projects, no matter how complex they may be. The Project Management Institute (PMI) offers a range of resources, including the PMP certification, to help individuals build these skills. Continuous learning and development in these areas can help to enhance a project manager's effectiveness and career prospects. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pmpradio/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pmpradio/support

Nanomedicine, an offshoot of nanotechnology, refers to highly specific medical intervention at the molecular scale for curing disease. A nanometer is one-billionth of a meter, too small to be seen with a conventional lab microscope. NanoMedicine technology inspired by platelet-derived microparticles (PMPs). PMPs, originally reported by Wolf in the 1960s as ‘platelet dust', these membrane fragments shed from activated platelets. The advantage of this type of delivery system is that are no detrimental side effects and the practitioners have the ability of a hyper-targeting system to get the drugs exactly where it is needed. This type of technology could also be utilized to accelerate regenerative therapies, such as those for the bone, vascular, heart, cartilage, bladder, and brain tissue that aims to restore, maintain or enhance tissues and hence organ functions. Various nanostructured polymers and metals (alloys) have been investigated for their bio (and cyto) compatibility properties that aim to restore, maintain or enhance tissues and hence organ functions. In this episode:Learn the basic dynamics of nanotechnologyThe Use of Hyper targeting using Platelet microparticles that will transfer their cargo to endothelial cells, macrophages, and neutrophilsHow it would be possible to use nanotechnology in regenerative therapiesThe synergy of photo-synthesisers & nanotechnology to enhance treatments for autoimmune and regenerative medicineThe role of free radicals in oxidation in controlling cancerWe are offering in-office and telephonic appointments! Scotland's Pain Management Programmes (PMPs) and what support is available after graduating. This edition of Airing Pain has been funded by a grant from the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland Self Management Fund  administered on behalf of the Scottish Government. What do you know about Pain Management Programmes (PMPs)? Do you know how they function? About the positive outcomes they have? Do you know if there are any PMPs near you? In this episode of Airing Pain we learn about PMPs and the communities and support networks that are being formed as a result. In collaboration with Health Unlocked and Alliance Health and Social Care Scotland, Pain Concern have created a small number of online forums designed for people who have graduated a PMP to stay connected and continue to support one another once the programme has ended. These forums are open only to PMP graduates. Not only can graduates communicate with one another on our Health Unlocked forums, they can also communicate with the healthcare professionals who delivered their PMP. For Pain Concern this is a preliminary experiment to determine whether forums like these are beneficial, and if we should create more! Paul Evans speaks to Health Unlocked moderator and PMP graduate Louise Cromie about all things Pain Management Programmes, how support networks can be pivotal in someone's pain journey and, of course, about our Health Unlocked forums. Issues covered in this programme include: pain management programmes, self-management, supporting one another in pain, pain community, pain education, the spoon theory, managing pain in a crisis, fatigue, burnout Time Stamps: 00:21 – Louise Cromie & Paul Evans discuss the origins of the Health Unlocked forums. 01:13 – Louise Cromie shares her own journey with chronic pain. 03:37 – When doctors tell you ‘there's nothing we can do' & the vital role specialist pain teams can play. 06:05 – Being believed & having your pain experience validated. 08:36 – A biopsychosocial approach to pain & how to break the cycle of doing too much on good days, then paying for it after. 11:02 – How to manage your pain in unforeseen circumstances. 12:44 – How do Pain Management Programmes (PMPs) help people in pain. 14:53 – The mask we wear when we're in pain & learning how to lower it. 20:43 – Helping those around you learn about pain & how to be supportive. 22:50 – How to continue coping once a Pain Management Programme ends. 25:14 – How did Pain Concern get involved in supporting PMP graduates? 27:08 – Louise Cromie on becoming a Health Unlocked forum moderator. We are also joined by Dr Petra Staiger who is an associate professor, School of Psychology, Deakin University. Paper: Role of the prescriber in supporting patients to discontinue benzodiazepines: a qualitative study https://doi.org/10.3399/BJGP.2020.1062 (https://doi.org/10.3399/BJGP.2020.1062) The introduction of prescription monitoring programmes (PMPs) has highlighted the need for increased support and guidance to ensure GPs improve on current deprescribing practice. This study revealed the importance of GPs understanding how to empower patients through patient-centred care, to foster a willingness to try reducing, build motivation, and promote confidence in the patients' ability to reduce. By understanding the patient experience with their prescriber involved in long-term BZD use, this study advances current knowledge of the ‘patient-centredness' of deprescribing interventions and offers GPs clearer guidance on how to deliver these strategies effectively.

Do you still have questions about the Director of Operation Certification program? Want to hear from students who have gone through the program and get their insights and experiences?   Today, some of my trusted peers, Rachel Pereyra, Ange Quinn, and Teresa Cleveland, are sharing some of the questions they get asked about the certification. They are all Certified Directors of Operations (DOO) who have come through the program at different times.    In our Facebook group, these are the ladies who are active, provide people with answers, and they want to help answer questions that you have and address the things that may be preventing you from joining the program. Questions Answered by Certified DOOs Ange Quinn joined the DOO certification program in Round 6. She had a corporate background but struggled to find where she could build an attainable business online. Find Ange at her website here. Teresa Cleveland spends so much time pouring into people who have questions about the DOO program. She came through the program in Round 2, and you can find her at The Purposeful CEO. She has worked online for the last 12 years.  Rachel Pereyra is the CEO and founder of Mastermind Business Services. She is currently in Round 7, and has had a transformative experience in the program. She feels that one of the biggest selling points of the program is the community because it has changed everything about the way she thinks about her own business, and has expanded her impact.  How can I use my corporate skills to start an online business? Ange: I speak with a lot of ladies who have a lot of skills and certifications, and they wonder how this certification will help them above project management training, PMPs or other training that they have already gone through.    This program up-levels your skill set in a variety of areas, and it also helps you grow your own business by applying these same skills. You can hone in on the specific areas you are interested in, and create a business that is suited to your strengths.   How does this program stack up against others? Teresa: This program is incredible because of what Natalie pours into it. She is so in tune with the community, and her desire for our success is unmatched. The community she has cultivated is a group of trusted peers who are brilliant and willing to share with each other.    “By attracting and vetting people in their leadership capabilities, we resist that friction of competition and start to see everybody as peers and partners.” - Natalie Gingrich   Ange: Natalie doesn’t want it to be ‘The Natalie Show’... she allows others to add their value, which allows us to grow in leadership. How can I translate my corporate expertise to online business? Teresa: I talk to people who have had terrible corporate experiences, but by working the program, women can see how they want to apply their skills. The culture of the program is so important because it allows people to see how they can still do what they love, and helps them practically apply it to their business model.   What’s the point of the application process? Teresa: The application process isn’t just a marketing ploy … I actually know people who haven’t gotten in.    Natalie: I truly want to make sure that the right people are getting in. If you are going to share your hard earned dollars with me, I want to make sure that I see your potential, and that your working with me is going to generate revenue for you. I’m super proud to say that in our Round 6 cohort, 96% of the participants have gotten a 100% return in 6 months.    Rachel: When I talk to people about the application process, I tell people that they want to be in a program that doesn’t accept everyone because you want to make sure that the program is something that is right for you. The people who are accepted are vetted and invested in this type of work.    How long until I make money? Teresa: You can make your money back if you just take what you learn in the first module and apply it. I want to pay for the program up front, so I need to get one more client. Is this a good idea? Ange: I was 3 months into the program, when I realized that while I could help the clients I was already working with, they weren’t really my ideal clients.    Rachel: The price tag was one of my struggles because I was fairly new in the online space, fresh off my transition from corporate. As I went through the program, I up-leveled some clients, lovingly let go of some clients, and found new clients that see me in a different light.    Teresa: It also helps you say no to those wrong fits instead of keeping them on, which is empowering.  What difference has the certification made? Teresa: We are bringing “the goods.”  I rarely mention the certification to clients, they just know by the way I’m showing up that there is something different. Our skill level is making a difference in the businesses we help.   Rachel: I parted ways with a client just before starting the program, and we recently reconnected. She has told me the difference she sees in my skill level and the way I am presenting myself, and she is now sending me referrals!   Ange: The structure is key. I had the knowledge from past experiences, but in a different realm.  I could see all the things I could do to help these clients but I didn’t know what steps to take first. This program gives you clarity on how to use your skills.   Is the material relevant?  Teresa: The material helps up-level your business, and I've seen so much added to the program through the iterations. After 12 years online I am still learning things here, and a lot of it has to do with the structure it provides.    “I've never once heard anyone say that they regretted doing the certification, they just wish they would have done it sooner.” - Teresa Cleveland If you like what you heard today and think this program is for you, don’t hesitate to apply!   Weekly Ops Activity What question do you have that wasn’t addressed in this episode? The following passage from the American Cancer Society's Website:“After having breast cancer surgery, some patients have problems with nerve (neuropathic) pain in the chest wall, armpit, and/or arm that doesn't go away over time. This is called post-mastectomy pain syndrome (PMPS) because it was first noticed in women who had mastectomies, but it can also happen after other types of breast-conserving surgery (such as a lumpectomy). Another similar condition which actually occurs in the breast is a condition known as “Phantom Breast Syndrome” or (PBS). PBS is a condition in which patients have a sensation of residual breast tissue and can include both non-painful sensations as well as phantom breast pain. Patients with PBS may experience pain, discomfort, itching, pins and needles sensations, tingling, pressure, burning, or throbbing. The syndrome can start anytime following surgery, even years later. Incidence statistics vary across different studies, ranging from approximately 30% to as high as 80% of patients after mastectomy. It seriously affects quality of life due to the impact of the physical disability and emotional stress. Support the show

In this week's episode of the Spine & Nerve podcast Dr. Nicolas Karvelas and Dr. Brian Joves want to stay pink past October- they are continuing breast cancer awareness month and discussing one of the overlapping diagnoses: Post-Mastectomy Pain Syndrome (PMPS).     Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed life threatening cancer in women.  There are many different approaches to the treatment of breast cancer, and surgical resection often plays an important role in the management. One potential complication after surgical resection is chronic pain, specifically referred to as PMPS.  The definition of PMPS according to the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) is: persistent pain soon after mastectomy/lumpectomy affecting the anterior thorax, axilla, and/or medial arm; typically described as burning, stabbing, pulling sensation.   PMPS is a growing concern, and epidemiologic studies demonstrate that it can affect 20-68% of breast cancers after surgical intervention.  Risk factors for development of PMPS include: younger age (35 years old or younger), type of surgery (total mastectomy and axillary lymph node dissection having increased risk), prior history of chronic pain.   The treatment of PMPS, similar to other chronic neuropathic disease processes, is challenging.  As always it is important to think about the treatment algorithm: -lifestyle modifications (including diet, exercise, weight optimization (especially considering BMI can be a risk factor for PMPS)) -physical therapy (including desensitization techniques) -medications (including topical medications, and potentially compounded topical meds) -procedures (including the Erector Spinae Block) -minimally invasive surgical techniques (including Peripheral Nerve Stimulation and Dorsal Column Spinal Cord Stimulation) -and stay vigilant for monitoring for recurrence / progression of the cancer itself This podcast is for information and educational purposes only, it is not meant to be medical or career advice. Abstract: Microglia, as the brain-resident macrophages, play critical roles in brain development, homeostasis, and disease. Microglia in animal models cannot accurately model the properties of human microglia, because there are due to notable transcriptomic and functional differences between human and other animal microglia at transcriptomic and functional levels. Efficient generation of microglia from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) provides unprecedented opportunities to study the function and behavior of human microglia. Particularly, incorporating hPSCs-derived microglia into brain organoids facilitates their development in a 3-dimensional context, mimicking the brain environment. However, an optimized method that integrates an appropriate amount of microglia into brain organoids at a proper time point, similar to what is seen in vivo, is still needed. Here, we report the development of a new brain region-specific, microglia-containing organoid model by co-culturing hPSCs-derived primitive neural progenitor cells (pNPCs) and primitive macrophage progenitors (PMPs). In these organoids, hPSCs-derived pNPCs and PMPs interact with each other and develop into functional neurons, astroglia, and microglia, respectively. Importantly, the numbers of human microglia population in the organoids can be controlled, resulting in a cell type at a ratio similar to that seen in the human brain. Importantly, uUsing super-resolution microscopy, we demonstrate that these human microglia are able to phagocytize neural progenitor cells (NPCs) and dead cells, as well as to prune synapses at different developmental stages of the organoids. Furthermore, these human microglia respond to Zika virus infection in of the organoids, as indicated by exhibiting amoeboid-like morphology, an increased expression of gene transcripts encoding inflammatory cytokines, and excessive pruning of synaptic materials. ThusTogether, our findings establish a new microglia-containing brain organoid model that will serve to study human microglial function in a variety of neurological disorders. They have the experience of seeing project management from all angles, and they want you to benefit from their experience. Here we are again, guys. How's it going? ANDY CROWE: We're off to a good start, Nick. And I'm very excited about this particular podcast. We've got a good friend in the studio, as well. NICK WALKER: Yes. He is a heavy hitter, you might say. John Stenbeck is the president of Gr8pm, spelled G-R-8-P-M. He's the author of three books. He's a sought-after keynote speaker. He's been a guest on “Good Morning America,” “The Today Show,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” He's been featured on the front page of the Los Angeles Times. And just when we thought he couldn't reach any higher, he's a guest now here on Manage This. ANDY CROWE: All that, John, led you to this point. NICK WALKER: Okay. Andy, I know one of the reasons you're excited about having John with us is that his most recent book, John's recent book the “Agile Almanac” has been ranked the No. 1 bestseller in Agile's project management on Amazon.com, and No. 2 bestseller in project management overall, second only to the PMBOK Guide itself. ANDY CROWE: Excellent. And I got a chance to read the “Agile Almanac” before it was released. John was kind enough to share some of that with me. So great resource, a really, really good book. NICK WALKER: Now, John, I don't think you're going to be insulted when I tell you Bill here has described you as a “PMBOK nerd,” okay? But I think you're in good company. JOHN STENBECK: Fair enough. BILL YATES: Fair enough. Okay, good. NICK WALKER: He says that about himself, as well. BILL YATES: Yeah, I threw myself in the category. So that – don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. But here we are as PMBOK nerds. JOHN STENBECK: Probably all of the listeners are going to count themselves pretty close to that category, too; you know? BILL YATES: That's true. NICK WALKER: Well, you know, in past podcasts, we have talked a lot about Agile practices. And now that they're going to be in the PMBOK Guide, just give us an indication of how that's changing the world of project management. JOHN STENBECK: Well, you know, I think one of the big considerations is that it hasn't been since 1997, so we're talking 20 years since the last time something this magnitude happened with the PMBOK. Twenty years ago it was theory of constraints, Eliyahu Goldratt. There's nobody, you know, there's none of us PMBOK nerds who don't embrace that content that was added to the PMBOK back then. And I think that what we're going to see is a lot of this happening as the new edition of the PMBOK comes out. The funniest part of the whole thing for me is the number of PMPs who think they don't do Agile. In fact, you know, if you think back to the first time – and this may be too long ago for some of us. But the very first time you opened the PMBOK Guide, and you looked at it, and you said this is exactly how we talk now, right, that is just laughable. None of us talked that way before we learned the vocabulary. We behaved as project managers, we executed as project managers, but we didn't have that core vocabulary. So I think Agile's going to give us some richness, some additional vocabulary.
