Few Democratic officials have been more outspoken in opposition to the Trump Administration than J. B. Pritzker, the governor of Illinois. He seems almost to relish antagonizing Trump, who has suggested Pritzker should be in jail. Meanwhile, ICE and Border Patrol have targeted Chicago, and elsewhere in Illinois, with immigration sweeps more aggressive than what Los Angeles experienced earlier this year; they refused to pause the raids even on Halloween. The President has called Chicago a “hell hole,” but, in Pritzker's view, immigration sweeps do nothing to reduce crime. “He's literally taking F.B.I., D.E.A., and A.T.F.—which we work with all the time—he's taking them out of their departments and moving them over to ICE, and they're not . . . helping us catch bad guys,” Pritzker says in an interview with the reporter Peter Slevin. “He's creating mayhem on the ground because you know what he wants? He wants troops on the ground in American cities, and the only way he can get that done is by proving that there's some sort of insurrection or revolution or rebellion.” And yet, as Slevin tells David Remnick, a governor's power to resist the federal government depends largely on the courts. Thus far, “the district courts have acted quite favorably toward the plaintiffs in various lawsuits against these actions by the federal government.” New episodes of The New Yorker Radio Hour drop every Tuesday and Friday. Join host David Remnick as he discusses the latest in politics, news, and current events in conversation with political leaders, newsmakers, innovators, New Yorker staff writers, authors, actors, and musicians. Hey Heal Squad! This week's Chatshow is all about Maria catching us up on life lately! From bouncing between the East Coast and LA to soaking in all things fall, she's giving us a peek behind the scenes of what's been going on. Maria shares what it was like being back in LA for the incredible Raising Brows event, and the surreal moment when she found out (just one day before!) that she'd be introducing Oprah?! She opens up about the powerful takeaways from Oprah and Anastasia's conversation, what it was like having Athena there with her, and why getting to share those moments with her daughter means everything. PLUS, she takes us through Halloween in LA, where Athena dressed up as the cutest Dorothy ever, and Maria reflects on how independent and fearless her little one has become, and what that's taught her about parenting, trust, and letting kids shine. (P.S. this made her question whether or not she loves LA). Filmmaker Izzy Lee (HOUSE OF ASHES) joins Adam and Joe in the ArieScope studio to share her career journey and discuss the making of her debut feature film (now available on most every VOD platform). From living in Boston working every job she could while making a name for herself as a journalist covering movies, festivals, and entertainment culture… to making a whopping 27 short films- many of which made splashes at well known festivals around the world- only to still find herself without any opportunities to make a feature… to spending almost a decade pitching features to no avail… to how she made the most of the pandemic's forced hiatus by enrolling in classes and constantly working on her craft while she couldn't actually be in active production… to shooting HOUSE OF ASHES in Los Angeles with extremely limited resources while living in San Francisco… to how she discovered her film's lead Fayna Sanchez… to doing her own DYI promotion for the movie and winding up in the pages of Fangoria (a medal of honor for any genre filmmaker), Izzy's journey has been a long but inspirational road. Also, Dr. Arwen provides "Hollywood Therapy" for a filmmaker with budgetary questions, the guys reflect on Halloween 2025 and the group discusses society's morbid celebration of the Salem Witch Trials.

In this Halloween edition of The Real Estate Rundown, Owen and Ted break down why you shouldn't sleep on land. They walk through a real-world model where a specialized team handles everything—from finding and entitling the dirt to bringing fully leased, brand-new commercial bays online in about a year. You'll hear how investors can step into turnkey triple-net projects, leverage pre-leased spaces, explore condo-izing bays, and use land in the path of progress to create long-term, low-maintenance cash flow. They also riff on discipline, structure, Toastmasters, Branson horror stories, and why knowing one thing really well (instead of chasing everything) can change your investing game.Golden Nugget: Don't sleep on land. It's limited, it's flexible, and with the right partners, it can be your cleanest path into scalable commercial deals. If this episode got your wheels turning, share it with another investor, and leave us a 5-star rating and a written review—it helps us reach more serious investors like you. This week on Killers, Cults & Queens, Cheryl and Nikki revisit one of the BBC's most infamous moments — Ghostwatch. Broadcast on Halloween night in 1992, the show appeared to be a live investigation into a haunted house… but what viewers didn't know was that it was entirely scripted. The result? Panic, confusion, and a scandal that would see the show banned for over a decade.Join us as we unpick how Ghostwatch blurred the lines between fact and fiction, why it terrified an entire nation, and how it paved the way for the modern horror genre. From Michael Parkinson's chilling final moments to the real-life consequences for viewers, this is the story of the hoax that went too far.Expect spooky nostalgia as we explore the show that made Britain believe in the supernatural — if only for one terrifying night.

Former CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield, who once stood beside Dr. Fauci leading America's COVID response, now says Washington got it wrong – and warns the next deadly pandemic may already be here. In “Redfield's Warning” he blasts the lockdowns, mandates, and censorship that defined the pandemic era. Now a MAHA advocate, he argues the government ignored evidence, failed to protect high-risk groups, and insists gain-of-function research and poor biosecurity are still the greatest dangers to humanity. Dr. Robert Redfield is a virologist, infectious disease expert, and former Director of the CDC. He served on the White House Coronavirus Task Force and Operation Warp Speed board. He co-founded the University of Maryland's Institute of Human Virology and was Chief of Infectious Diseases at UMD School of Medicine. (00:00) Customized Golf Instruction Based on Personality This chapter focuses on the diverse approaches to learning and improving in golf, emphasizing how personalized methods can enhance a player's experience and performance. I share insights into teaching golf in California, highlighting the universal nature of learning the sport, regardless of location. We explore how different personalities, such as analytical thinkers like accountants and engineers, benefit from a structured approach that satisfies their need for logic and problem-solving. Meanwhile, more creative types, such as artists, thrive on feeling and visualization. By tailoring teaching methods to individual learning styles, I aim to help each golfer find the right balance between understanding the mechanics and experiencing the fluidity of the game. (14:50) Improving Golf With Simple Techniques This chapter focuses on simplifying golf techniques for recreational players, emphasizing the importance of understanding the fundamental actions required for effective swings rather than getting bogged down by complex instructions. I illustrate this by recounting experiences with players who learned to approach their swings more intuitively, leading to improved performance. A key highlight is a lesson on bunker shots, where I demonstrate multiple methods for hitting the ball out of the sand, emphasizing the significance of getting the club below the ball to create an explosion of sand that propels the ball upward. This approach shows that understanding the underlying principles can make the game feel more accessible and enjoyable. (25:32) Simplifying Golf Techniques for Success This chapter focuses on simplifying the mental approach to playing golf and emphasizes the importance of balance and comfort in achieving better performance on the course. We explore how overthinking technical aspects can hinder enjoyment and performance, highlighting the experience of a golfer who follows a rigid checklist for different shots. Instead, we stress the value of feeling stable, comfortable, and balanced, encouraging golfers to take practice swings and adjust setups rather than overanalyzing during the swing. We also discuss how slight tweaks in stance or ball position can significantly impact performance, as illustrated by a two-handicap player who improved his swing by simply aligning the ball correctly. Through these insights, we aim to help golfers maintain a simple, effective approach that enhances both enjoyment and skill. (34:51) Immediate Results in Golf Instruction This chapter focuses on the art of communication and adaptability, drawing parallels between painting styles like Michelangelo and Jackson Pollock to highlight the importance of tailoring communication to different individuals. We explore the significance of being a good listener and observer to provide clients with immediate results, especially in contexts like sports coaching, where clients seek quick improvements. I share a story about a golfer with arthritis who believed he was a long-term project but found immediate relief and improvement through simple adjustments in posture and stance. This underscores the importance of not self-diagnosing or assuming problems are unsolvable, emphasizing that while golf and other sports may be easy to understand, achieving a high level of performance requires nuanced, often immediate, solutions. (43:21) Holiday Season Golf Gift Advice This chapter reminds listeners to give Thanksgiving its due recognition before rushing into the Christmas season. We touch on the tradition of post-Halloween candy sales, with some of us stocking up enough sweets to last through Thanksgiving and beyond. As we transition from holiday chatter to golf, we offer crucial advice for holiday shopping for golfers: avoid buying clubs unless specific instructions have been given, and opt for a gift certificate instead, ensuring a perfect fit. We emphasize the simplicity of the game—just swing and aim to improve with each outing. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. We kick things off with our featured beers of the week, then catch up on all the movies we watched to close out spooky season. Finally, we wrap it up by talking about the internet rabbit holes we can't stop falling into — the topics that keep us scrolling, researching, and obsessing late into the night. It's a loaded episode full of laughs, great tunes, and the usual chaos you've come to expect from the Krew. Tune in and catch up!

Justin Bieber BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Justin Bieber has hit headlines again this week both for his career decisions and his increasingly public devotion to family life. The most significant news is his open admission that touring is simply not a priority for him right now. During a recent Twitch livestream where he spent the evening carving pumpkins with friends, Justin told fans that years of touring have left him burned out and even just the idea of getting back on the road feels super daunting. According to People magazine, he said he loves performing, but committing to a year and a half or more of global touring is out of the question for now. Instead, Bieber is focusing all his energy on select, high-impact events like Coachella, where he will perform both his latest albums, including “Swag” and “Swag 2,” for the first time, alongside his classic hits. He is set to headline on both Saturdays of the festival, April 11 and 18, which organizers and fans alike consider a major pop moment and potential career pivot. In terms of music news, Justin is back with fresh visuals as well. A new video for his song “Speed Demon” just dropped, filmed at the Coachella festival grounds, generating buzz across platforms and fueling anticipation for his upcoming live sets. On the lighter side of pop culture, he's gone viral for admitting to delaying the start of his concerts to finish intense ping pong games with his crew, as revealed by Z97.1, which fans embraced as peak Bieber quirkiness. On the home front, Justin's relationship with Hailey remains a magnet for attention. The couple recently celebrated Halloween with their son Jack, dressing up as the Incredibles, which even earned a shoutout from Disney. Social media went into overdrive when Hailey posted a bikini photo carousel from Kendall Jenner's 30th birthday getaway; Justin's explicit public comment was widely shared, underlining ongoing chemistry between the couple. Elle reported that insiders see them as soulmates, with parenthood deepening their bond. More PDA-filled photos from Justin have circulated, showing a couple enjoying family milestones and taking little notice of outside commentary. There's also a brush with the business world. Hailey Bieber's Rhode beauty brand scored a record-breaking launch at Sephora this fall, though the parent company Elf Beauty's stock dropped after weaker-than-expected earnings, as reported by MarketWatch. Overall, the lasting impact comes from Justin's step back from touring and his visible prioritization of family and selective, meaningful musical moments—signaling a new era less defined by constant movement and more by intentional choices. No substantial unverified rumors have surfaced, and all major stories are confirmed by established media outlets.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI
Justin Bieber BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Justin Bieber has been making plenty of headlines in the last few days thanks to a mix of career moves, family moments, and candid responses lighting up social media. The biggest music news is his release of the music video for Speed Demon, the lead track from his new album SWAG II. Shot in striking black and white and directed by longtime collaborator Rory Kramer, the video takes place at the Empire Polo Club—the iconic grounds of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. This location choice is no coincidence, as Justin is set to headline Coachella in 2026, sharing the stage with fellow chart-toppers Sabrina Carpenter and Karol G. Clips from the video show him dancing across the Coachella grounds while his family, including wife Hailey, cheer him on, combining professional triumph with personal warmth as reported by BOB FM and Krush 92.5.Family life is also in the spotlight, with Justin and Hailey sharing affectionate photos and playful Halloween snapshots on Instagram. Hailey posted a series of pictures from their trip to celebrate Kendall Jenner's 30th birthday, including several candid bikini shots that prompted Justin's unfiltered four-word public reply: Oh my fuckin god, as spotted by Elle and UNILAD. The two also dressed up as The Incredibles for Halloween with their one-year-old son Jack, earning a shout-out from Disney and fueling even more love from fans and followers. On November 4, Justin posted his own PDA-filled photo with Hailey, drawing countless likes and comments, as covered by iHeartRadio.Meanwhile, Justin recently admitted in a Halloween livestream that touring still feels daunting and the idea of hitting the road is overwhelming, a sentiment that's resonated across interviews and fan forums as noted by Max FM. While these remarks hint that major touring is not imminent, they underscore his ongoing transition between superstar obligations and family priorities. In business news, while it's Hailey in the headlines due to the blockbuster launch of her Rhode beauty brand at Sephora and the ensuing Wall Street rollercoaster for parent company Elf Beauty—details from MarketWatch—the Bieber name continues to drive both media and financial buzz. Notably, Justin quietly exited his streetwear label Drew House some months ago, marking a significant change in his entrepreneurial footprint, according to Spreaker's Justin Bieber Audio Biography. On social media, his every move and comment—especially those about his wife—have attracted swift attention, creating a viral ripple effect. Despite past rough patches, outlets like People and Elle note the couple is tighter than ever, with parenthood deepening their connection and shaping this new, more grounded phase of Justin's life. His blend of public affection, career evolution, and candid admissions has cemented his standing as one of pop culture's most watched figures this November.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

What would you do if, on Halloween morning, before sunrise, you turned a dark hill road and found someone standing in your lane — dressed in an old hospital gown, black hair hanging, face too dark to be human… and smiling? In this true ghost story from Real Ghost Stories Online, a worker in Wheeling, USA, drives past a hospice and a nearby convent — the same convent rumored to be haunted by a young nun murdered in the 1970s — when he encounters what he calls “The Ringer Ghost.” She looked like the girl from The Ring: long, shimmery black hair, pale gown, almost transparent skin… and an energy that went from “maybe she needs help” to “GET OUT OF HERE” in seconds. He didn't stop. He sped up. But it didn't end there. Days later, the same figure appeared again in the treeline near his job — watching. Was it the spirit of a patient who never made it back? The murdered nun? Or something darker that clings to places where people die? #RealGhostStory #ParanormalActivity #HauntedRoad #WheelingGhost #TheRingStyleGhost #TrueScaryStory #CreepyEncounters #HauntedConvent #GhostlyEncounters #RealGhostStoriesOnline Love real ghost stories? In this episode, Rochelle and Leslie stitched together conversations as colorful as their fabric stashes! They shared exciting personal projects, with Rochelle completing a wedding quilt and diving into her label-making obsession, while both exchanged travel wisdom about the Mobile Passport Control app and Viking cruise adjustments. The crafty duo discussed upcoming retreats, Halloween plans with grandchildren, and fitness journeys, before unraveling conversations about shipping costs, quilt-making techniques, and the surprising history of ranch dressing. Their needle-sharp wit shone through discussions of buffalo wings, tomato soup preparations for Thanksgiving retreats, and the practical wisdom that UPS might beat USPS for heavier packages. The conversation took a heartfelt turn as Rochelle shared her involvement with suicide prevention initiatives and her touching experience giving quilts to unhoused individuals, emphasizing the importance of remembering loved ones for their positive qualities. Creative energy flowed through discussions of zipper bag projects, with Rochelle hunting for the perfect colored zippers and planning to bring her creations to an upcoming retreat. These quilting companions wrapped up their chat with sewing projects featuring directional chicken fabric, a Nutcracker-themed quilt class, matching family pajamas, and heartwarming stories of community support—including how Patty helped an unhoused woman named Barbara secure Social Security benefits, leading to Barbara's touching plan to donate underwear and socks for the holidays. This is a jam-packed episode filled with heart. This week, the gang dives headfirst into the weird, wild world of AI video creation — from Sora 2 and Grok to the strange new internet characters they're spawning. Tim shares how he's been using Sora to make surreal videos for Gilbert (and inventing a whole alternate-dimension being named Gob-Loaf along the way), while Dustin and Lizzie trade their own AI stories and Jeff admits he's just waiting until they let you make porn. We also tackle the viral Food Stamp “Toast Lady” video that fooled half of TikTok (spoiler: she's not real — just another AI fever dream). In Views or Snooze, the crew previews the week's big streaming drops: * Death by Lightning (Netflix) — Michael Shannon brings President Garfield back from the dead (metaphorically). * Frankenstein (Netflix) — Guillermo del Toro's gothic vision finally arrives… a week late for Halloween. * Pluribus (Apple TV+) — Vince Gilligan returns with Rhea Seehorn in a mysterious new drama. * Plus: Jeff's culinary Staff Pick — the Whataburger patty melt with a blackberry Dr Pepper milkshake — and Tim's Text Impressions, featuring Sam Elliott reflecting on life with Billy Bob Thornton as his son.
Jesus said not to judge, but then God judges us? And shouldn't we make "judgment calls"? Can Satan read our minds? If not, then how are we always getting sinful thoughts in our heads? Why do so many Christian parents allow their children to participate in Halloween with costumes and trick-or-treating? Is it right or wrong?
Your boys are back with a thrilling new movie this week! But first, Sean and Parker discuss the Dodgers' World Series win, Parker's relaxing boat ride to Mexico, delicious LA delicacies, Halloween and so much more. Then it's wading through a lake of shit in the December Movie Preview. Then, they review the new movie by one of Sean's favorite directors and a director that Parker knows almost nothing about. It's Yorgos Lanthimos' "Bugonia," starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons -- and almost no one else! The movie deals with kidnappings, conspiracy theories, and possible aliens -- or does it? Send us a textTwo seasonal beers. One big question: cozy malt comfort or piney hop punch. We kicked off with Abita Pecan Ale, a Louisiana classic built on roasted pecans, pale malt, and caramel malt. The aroma brought nutty warmth, the palate leaned earthy and brown-ale smooth, and as it warmed we noticed a drier finish. It instantly conjured camping nights and flannel weather, and we landed on a confident eight for flavor, balance, and seasonal fit. Then we cracked Alesmith's Yule Smith Double Red IPA. The nose shouted grapefruit and pine. The taste followed with firm bitterness wrapped around a caramel-red backbone. That's where the debate lit up: can caramel malt and resinous hops coexist without stepping on each other? We tasted flashes of harmony, but the finish stayed grippy and dry, and the grapefruit-pine combo wrestled with the sweet malt. Hopheads may love the intensity; we respect the build yet wouldn't keep it stocked, calling it around a six on our slate.Between sips we veered into real-world hacks. We tested AI for budget meal planning—$200 for two-a-day, with a store-specific list, weights, and prep steps—and talked how better prompts improve accuracy for projects and shopping. We also recapped a house Halloween party full of inspired costumes and the kind of easy camaraderie that makes community feel rare and lucky. The throughline across beers, parties, and AI: context matters. Pick the right tool for the moment, whether it's a nutty ale for a quiet night or a bold double IPA for hop-curious friends ready to debate pine vs. citrus. If you enjoyed the tasting, follow and share the show with a friend. Drop a quick rating or review, and tell us: are you team nutty malt or team piney hop this winter?Support the showwww.anotherreasontodrink.com

This episode proves that nothing gold can stay, especially your 401k, as we kick things off with the revelation that October saw the worst tech layoffs since 2003, all while "Big Short" genius Michael Burry decided to bet a billion dollars on the inevitable AI bubble bursting. The villains of the week are legion: the FCC is officially making it easier for internet companies to charge us even more hidden fees; Elon Musk not only got his $1 trillion pay package approved—despite Tesla sales collapsing nearly 90% in some countries—but he also teased a flying car, clearly living in his own "Golden Dome" fantasy, which the Pentagon is happily subsidizing; and in a stunning display of entitlement, Mark Zuckerberg opened an illegal school, which is somehow less shocking than Meta's claim that their massive porn stash was purely for "personal use," not AI training. The bad news doesn't stop there, with Texas suing Roblox over 'pixel pedophiles,' though at least a rural Michigan healthcare system is doing some good by using drones to improve care.Jumping over to Media Candy, since we're all emotionally scarred by the sheer awful-ness of The Witcher S4—a season so bad it "broke" The Critical Drinker—we need some comfort viewing. We're deep-diving into the political chess of The Diplomat and escaping into the sheer volume of competitive cooking shows, including the standard Halloween and Holiday Baking Championships, plus the delightfully ridiculous Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking S2; we also took a look at Pluribus, Knife Edge, Black Rabbit, and the trailer for Tron: Ares, while cheering the fact that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are set to revive The Mummy franchise for a fourth film. In Apps & Doodads, we're all mourning the eventual death of simple, good tech as we're warned to enjoy Apple CarPlay while we still can, but at least the Lego ‘Star Trek' Set is finally here for our inner child; the real question, though, is why Automattic Inc. thinks they can claim ownership of the actual word 'Automatic.'Finally, The Dark Side with Dave Bittner reminds us that everything old is new again and ripe for monetization, whether it's Miss Piggy potentially bringing back The Muppets to the movies or the sleek, blacked-out remake of the Commodore 64, not to mention that cool Tron Arcade Cabinet Miniature Model. However, the present is still a complete dumpster fire: a Google AI model allegedly accused a senator of sexual assault, and internal documents show that Meta is earning a fortune on a massive deluge of fraudulent ads, proving that the only thing getting healthier is our paranoia, though Dave did throw in a curveball with some special jar lids and seeds for growing organic sprouts. We finish, as always, with the obligatory Closing Shout-Outs because even cynical geeks need validation.Sponsors:MasterClass - Get an additional 15% off any annual membership at MASTERCLASS.com/GRUMPYOLDGEEKSGusto - Try Gusto today at gusto.com/grumpy, and get three months free when you run your first payroll.Private Internet Access - Go to GOG.Show/vpn and sign up today.
