But when it failed to catch on in its 10 p.m. time slot, the network announced in January 2010 that it would shorten The Jay Leno Show to a half-hour, and move it to 11:35 p.m—the time slot The Tonight Show had held for nearly 60 years. O'Brien's Tonight Show would therefore have been pushed back to 12:05 a.m., which was effectively the time slot O'Brien had been keeping warm on Late Night with Conan O'Brien for 16 years. "I cannot express in words how much I enjoy hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is for me to consider losing it," O'Brien said in a statement. "But I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction. Some people will make the argument that with DVRs and the internet a time slot doesn't matter. But with The Tonight Show, I believe nothing could matter more." Unfortunately, NBC would not budge, so O'Brien decided to say goodbye to The Tonight Show. On Jan. 22, 2010, as the Tonight Show band played a rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird," O'Brien signed off, making his stint as host the shortest of all time. Seeing as O'Brien has been killing it for years with his late-night TBS show, Conan, it's hard to believe that just 10 years ago, he was dealing with what Entertainment Weekly deemed the biggest "late-night disaster" of all time.Hosted on Acast. Vicki Barbolak is one of America's funniest and most authentic comedians. She was a fan favorite and top 10 finalist on Season 13 of America's Got Talent in 2018 on NBC. Howie Mandel told Vicki and America, “I think you just came up with your own sitcom, you're wonderful I love you.” And Simon said, “I think you're the best comedian we've had on this show.” Vicki was also featured on the 2019 AGT Champions show and Britain's Got Talent Champions. When Vicki was 38 years young, she saw an ad for a stand-up comedy class. That class changed her life. Vicki quickly realized that making people laugh gave her more happiness than she ever dreamed possible. After a few years of open mic nights, Vicki was taken under the wing of Mitzi Shore, owner of The Comedy Store where Vicki developed as a Comedian. E! Entertainment, in its True Hollywood Story of the Comedy Store and its owner, Mitzi Shore, predicted Vicki would be the next “breakout star” to come out of that famed institution. Drawing on her roller-coaster life of working in a family carpet business owned by her dad, a former Pittsburgh Steeler, dueling with ex-husbands who think alimony is an Italian ice-cream flavor and raising two great kids all while living in the ultra posh Vista Manor Trailer Park near San Diego. Vicki has created a comic persona that has earned her well-deserved praise. She is considered unique both in the character she has created as well as the fresh material she consistently delivers. In 2007 Vicki won Nickelodeon's “America's Funniest Mom” show hosted by Roseanne Barr. Roseanne was so impressed that she hired Vicki as one of her writers and requested that Vicki open for her at the New York New York Casino in Las Vegas. In addition to being crowned as America's Funniest Mom, Mark Ross and Bob Reid, Talent Coordinators for the Jay Leno Show selected Vicki for the 2010 Jay Leno Laugh Squad. Family Circle Magazine's September 2011 Issue profiles Vicki as an Expert in Joke Telling for their feature article, “How to Do Anything Better”. Vicki's true story about performing Stand up at a funeral was included in Mark Schiff and Rich Snyder's Best Selling Book, “I Killed, Road Stories from America's Top Comics”. Vicki was one of six comediennes winning a nationwide search for “Jenny's Comedy Diva's” on the Jenny Jones Show. Vicki also was the first winner of “California's Funniest Female” Contest. Vicki is also the proud winner of the “Russian River Gay Comedy Festival.” JONES.SHOW is a weekly podcast featuring host Randall Kenneth Jones (author, speaker & creative communications consultant) and Susan C. Karla has worshipped with Highland Park for the past 17 years. Currently, Karla is building the Racial Justice ministry for Highland Park UMC. Karla has also served as an adjunct instructor for Visible Music College and in 2014 released a CD entitled “True Worship.” Five years ago a good friend suggested she turn her heart toward fulfilling the Great Commission. About Anna Ocansey-Jimenez: Anna Ocansey-Jimenez is a C-level accounting and finance professional and entrepreneur with nearly 30 years' experience transforming the operations of both non-profit organizations and large global brands. An expert in streamlining operations and creating transparency in reporting, Anna has led organizations through transition and growth in multiple executive roles. Most recently, she served as Chief Accounting Officer at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City, where she helped the institution navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to that, she served as VP of Finance for the Tenement Museum, also in New York. Previous employers included IBM, Fox News, and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. In 2018, along with friend and business partner Oneida Franco, Anna co-founded The Whole Kitchen, Inc. (TWK) — a company that creates meaningful experiences around a shared appreciation for food, sustainability, culture, and introspection. On October 1, 2021, National Coffee Day, the pair launched Casa Dos Chicas Café (CDCC), a brand of TWK. CDCC offers organic, single-origin, specialty coffees sourced mainly from Latin America. The company's goal and mission are to celebrate Latin American heritage whilepromoting equitable, sustainable practices along the entire coffee supply chain. Anna and her twin brother were born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Mexican parents. Shortly afterward, the family relocated to Ligonier, Indiana, where Anna spent her childhood. The first in her family to attend and graduate from a university, Anna completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Oral Roberts University School of Business in 1997. She later enrolled in the Becker CPA study course and passed all four parts of the New York State Certified Public Accounting exam. Anna is married to Christopher Ocansey, a Ghanaian American, and they have three children together: Joshua, Cristiana, and Olivia. About Oneida Franco: A multi-faceted entrepreneur and finance expert, Oneida Franco blends 25+ years of finance and accounting experience and education with a deep understanding of the needs of small-to-midsize business owners. After two decades in the corporate and non-profit worlds, Oneida's entrepreneurship journey began in 2017 when she found herself helping a growing number of friends and acquaintances with their finance questions. Recognizing a lack of practical guidance and tools, Oneida launched Franco Blueprint (FB) — an accounting and business management firm with the mission to up-level the businesses of artists, content creators and entrepreneurs. Often, individuals with brilliant ideas are looking to start their business and diversify themselves relying on different tools to get their business up and running as well as trying to understand the finance and operational side. That's where Oneida saw Franco Blueprint as the solution - a one-stop service and support system for business owners tuned into the frequency of creation and abundance. Shortly afterward, Oneida's partner Rick Diaz came on board as CFO, bringing an additional 25+ years of experience and expanding FB's roster to include financial real estate development and construction accounting. In 2018, Oneida and business partner Anna Ocansey co-founded The Whole Kitchen, Inc. Born and raised in New York with Dominican roots, Oneida puts family at the center of things and stays closely connected to her heritage. Along with her family, she founded Fundación Generaciones Sanas (FUNGESA), a non-profit organization committed to providing youth with ongoing educational opportunities and sustainability programs. Recent FUNGESA projects include the reopening of the library at Antonio L. Batista School in Oneida's family hometown of Sabana del Puerto, Bonao. Oneida is the second oldest of five siblings and mother to 19-year-old Nina, who is almost off to college. Guest: Jana Bell Jana Bell is energetic, intensely passionate for the Lord's presence, simply put, she is a true worshipper! Jana toured internationally as an alto with Kirk Franklin from the Fall of 1998 to Winter of 2007. While traveling, the Lord continued to develop and prepare her for the call and anointing that He has placed on her life. Jana later became a background vocalist for several other Contemporary Christian artists and ministries including Martha Munizzi and Freddy Rodriguez. She also spent a little time in early 2010 traveling as a wardrobe assistant for the overseas Year of the Gentleman Tour. Jana has done studio work for several artist and companies such as Anthony Evans, Natalie Grant, Jeremy Camp, Joy Hill, Trinitee 5:7, Kirk Franklin, Arlington Jones, Ambassadors of Christ, Men of Standard, SuperNova Remnant, Churches Fried Chicken and Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. While traveling and performing, she continued to pursue her college degree through correspondence and night classes. In the summer of 2003, she received her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Her love for the arts and learning would not allow her to stop with just one degree. In 2015, she received her Masters of Science in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Fl. Jana knew the Lord was calling her for more and began to pray that God would lead her to people that would disciple, administrate and labor with her in ministry. God honoring his word in Matthew 21:22 which says, And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive, put four individuals on her heart. Understanding that vision is birthed out of prayer, Jana asked these kingdom citizens to commit to a prayer conference call to gain direction from the Lord. Again, God being true to His word in Ephesians 3:20 that states, (God) is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, this prayer call became a staple weekly session that has grown to committed prayer warriors around the United States. On those trips the Lord began to awaken the motto He gave her in college – “Influencing Culture for the Good of the Kingdom.” As an answer to this awakening, Karla and Dr. Roosevelt founded Karla Nivens Entertainment. Under this umbrella, Karla partnered with Love Ministries, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, started a small group for women, and a radio show both titled “Every Heart Every Woman.” Karla encourages her audience to quiet the noise and restore balance in their daily lives through inspirational entertainment. The show airs Sundays as a podcast on iTunes and Podbean weekly. The show also airs in video on YouTube. In 2019, Karla released her book, True Leaders with Heart, packed with weekly meditations for leaders.
Recorded in the depths of winter, today's episode is full Winter Madness on display. Gus, Sam, and Matt go back to January 21, 2010 to discuss the new episodes of Community, Parks and Recreation, The Office, and 30 Rock that aired that night. Matt concludes the tale of Conan O'Brien quitting NBC by releasing his two weeks' notice just as a major natural disaster occurred, and some lessons learned are: Kanye was somehow involved, Conan should just buy a DVR, and it's okay to give up on all your hopes and dreams for 45 million dollars. Hopefully, we never have to discuss the Jay Leno Show again. We break down the new episodes while falling into some serious IMDb traps, express hard feelings about the Wordle craze, praise Lin-Manuel Miranada's work, reminisce about the short-lived CBS sitcom "$h*! My Dad Says", and discuss the unfortunate consequence of sharing your name with well-known white supremacist. Gus can't wait for Mark to just Brandanaquit, Sam needs a ranked list of Greendale's hottest students and faculty members, and Matt thinks he's figured out how Michael came up with the idea for Scott's Tots. All that, plus some microphone issues and barking dogs, in another Comedy Night Podcasted Right which puts Avatar's runtime to shame.

Welcome, Christine! Christine: Thank you, Marlana. Marlana: So, here's the thing, a lot of people think TV production, movies, all that kind of stuff, it's got to be a glamorous world, is it? Are you going to burst our bubble? Christine: I'm going to burst your bubble, it's glamorous that you get to travel. But unfortunately, my travel kind of was hotel, arena, airport. There were occasionally, we got to go in early, I would go into like San Francisco early so I can visit my friend Allison, and my brother lives there at the time. So, there were like some perks to it, but two productions very hard, very long hours. We're talking 12 to 15 hour days, and you know, you're crawling around on the floor. Well, in my case, if you're at an arena, like you're crawling around trying to find places to shoot. So, it's definitely not glamorous, I can kind of sum it up the way my mom used to say to me, why don't you ever buy nice clothes? Because I crawl around on the floor and get dirty while I'm not. So, I'm not getting nice clothes. Marlana: When you first started out, what about the industry surprised you? And were there stuff that you weren't really prepared for? Check out the inaugural episode as we are honored to have the most successful Rick & Bubba intern of all time take it Off The Air for his Untold R&B Experience. We get to hear what he is doing these days and how he got started on the Rick & Bubba Show, along with how he got his name. We go through him getting engaged, a hot date gone bad, The Fatchelor, and then heading out to LA to make a run at comedy and ending up on the Jay Leno Show. We cover his musical career as a rapper and some Fat Fest and Mr. Lucky talk. We also determined he is setting the bar high for future interns, then moved into his stadium gig and reminisced about the undefeated Rick & Bubba softball team members. Then, as we were keeping it off the air, it started to go south and we ended up running off the road and the episode had to be ended before any addendum to the Guntersville Treaty was needed. It was total chaos!
James Douglas Muir "Jay" Leno (/ˈlɛnoʊ/; born April 28, 1950) is an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, and television host. After doing stand-up comedy for years, he became the host of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992-2009. Beginning in September 2009, Leno started a primetime talk show, titled The Jay Leno Show, which aired weeknights at 10:00pm ET, also on NBC. After The Jay Leno Show was cancelled in January 2010 amid a host controversy, Leno returned to host The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 1, 2010. He hosted his last episode of The Tonight Show on February 6, 2014. That year, he was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame. Since 2014, Leno has hosted Jay Leno's Garage. For years Jay Leno has been synonymous with comedy & late-night television, but unless you've been living under a rock, you also know that Jay's true passion lies in anything that rolls, explodes or makes noise. Whether it's the latest hyper-car, or a forgotten relic, over the years Jay has gathered a distinguished collection of automobiles & motorcycles. Keeping a collection like Jay's clean is no easy task. Some of his cars are being judged at car shows, while others he simply wants to take out for a drive & enjoy. Either way, the cars had to be kept clean. For more information, please visit https://www.lenosgarage.com
