Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018) wraps up our Running From The End of Youth month, and what a way to go. Every Maze Runner and Dylan O'Brien fan knows it's a miracle that this film even exists, so we treat it with the reverence it deserves. In this episode, you have the same shenanigans the rest of the month offered: extreme thirst, overthinking, and apocalyptic reasoning. You also get a little cameo from Sydney for you to enjoy so listen out for that.Join us next week as we start off March with Mulan (1998)

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) is up next in our 'Running Away From The End of Youth' month. May the crisis continue evermore, as we revisit the film that made up most of Sam's dissertation back when she in her early 20s. It's okay though, we have some zombies and Dylan O'Brien to distract us. This film is one we both enjoy, hence the longer episode. It's weird how fun it is to not suffer through films. Welcome to The B-Side, from The Film Stage. Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones they made in between. Today we try to be cool like the cool kids. Who are the kids liking these days? Someone we hear they like is Dylan O'Brien, and our buddy Billy Ray Brewton joins us to break it down. Brewton runs the entertaining The Incinerator Podcast as well as the Scripts Gone Wild podcast. Together, we cover The First Time, American Assassin, Love and Monsters, and The Outfit. We also dig deep into The Maze Runner trilogy (A-Sides though they may be) and a little less deep into Taylor Swift's All Too Well short film (of which O'Brien is the star). There's chatter on the nearly career-ending (nearly life-ending) accident O'Brien suffered on the set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure, his scene-stealing and star-making role on the hit MTV show Teen Wolf, and the enduring legacy of generational teen shows in general. The O.C. gets a lot of love here, so be ready for that. Cue the iconic “Dear Sister” SNL Video. Billy Ray takes a minute to cover the recent Dylan O'Brien/Zoey Deutch starrer Not Okay, we chat briefly on Deepwater Horizon (the best of the Peter Berg/Mark Wahlberg films), and why we think O'Brien has made the right career decisions so far. Kristen has started preparing for her big book convention in March and has started packing her books. Natalie is working on her remodel while using public transportation to get around which doesn’t make it easy. Karen finally saw Maze Runner: The Death Cure and cringed when she saw the stunt where Dylan got hurt. Angel season 4, episode 18, “Shiny Happy People” -Synopsis -We love Gina Torres, but Jasmine has got to go. -It was really frustrating to see them all under her power. -Cordy is unconscious, so that’s an improvement for her storyline…sadly. -We would love for Cordy to wake up and slap some sense into these people. -Crack theory time! -Was Angel infatuated with his granddaughter (Ewww) or was it just a version of hero worship? -We really want Fred to figure this out and save the day. -Gina Torres may have come to us all at different times, but we’re all grateful for her awesomeness. -Favorite Scenes -Favorite Lines Buffy season 7, episode 18, “Dirty Girls” -Synopsis -Xander’s dream is as icky as Cordy’s pregnancy. -This episode was a huge disservice to the series’ overarching message about the value of women. -Faith is back in Sunnydale! -We are all on board with more Faith and Spike, whether its as bickering siblings or straight up allies. -Wait, didn’t Buffy close the door on Giles last episode? Why is he still chiming in? -We explain how Faith and Dawn know each other even though they’ve never appeared in an episode together. Just in case you were confused too. -Xander’s speech is moving and we appreciate his lovely words. -Danielle got a bit spoiled about Xander’s injury, but she’s spoiler free from here on out. -We have developed some attachments to a few of these potentials. -Note: Using the Chinese potential as comedic relief is not funny. -Favorite Scenes -Favorite Lines Listener Feedback: -We’re a little confused, so please remind us when we discussed this mojito. -Thanks for listening, new ReWatchable fans! Directed by Wes Ball, the film brings the three-part series to a close with explosive special effects, heavy-handed exposition and a multitude of questionable plot twists that diverge from the source material in James Dashner's popular young adult book series. The film, which faced production delays after a stunt involving lead actor Dylan O'Brien went wrong, clocks in at a massive two hours and twenty minutes.

Some of us first took notice of him in Spike Lee movies like Do the Right Thing and Mo’ Better Blues. His newest film, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, has just opened in theaters. He describes himself as a chameleon but as Leonard and Jessie learn, he is also an extraordinarily charismatic man with a refreshingly positive outlook on the acting profession.

First up, the Pixels & Ink team takes a look at some of the biggest games titles to launch this week: Dragon Ball FighterZ, Celeste, The Inpatient, and of course, Monster Hunter World. In other game news, Nintendo announced their plan to end their social app Miitomo in May. Finally, they explore the news that Yuji Naka, co-creator and "grandfather of Sonic", has joined on with Square Enix. In entertainment news, the team talks about the nominees for the 90th Academy Awards and some of the surprising things to come from the announcement. The team also takes a look at new information coming out of a third Bill and Ted movie, a new Clue movie involving Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool writers, and how John Cena is in talks to star as Duke Nukem in an upcoming Michael Bay movie featuring the infamous videogame character. Phil saw Maze Runner: The Death Cure this week, and is eternally grateful that the YA glorified dystopian trilogy has finally come to an end, likely bringing the genre down with it. Lisa sailed her way across the seas in the Sea of Thieves closed beta and is slowly learning how to be her best pirate self in the process. Tune in for all this and more, this week on Pixels & Ink!

The Filmlosophers, Eddie Villanueva, Chad Riley and Spencer Williams examine the previously classified records of the so-called “horse soldiers” who fought alongside local militias against the Taliban during the months following September 11th, 2001, with this week's review of 12 Strong (2018). Directed by Nicolai Fuglsig, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon, Michael Peña, Navid Negahban, William Fichtner, Rob Riggle and many others. As depicted in the film, the Green Berets selected for this mission were dropped deep behind enemy lines near strategic, Taliban-controlled villages and tasked with calling in air strikes to support the local militias' efforts to destabilize Al Qaeda's control over a highly contested region, culminating in the hoped-for liberation of Mazar-i-Sharif, the fourth-largest city in Afghanistan. The mission, which many expected to take months or even years, needed to be completed within three to six weeks. Be sure to check out Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018), which debuts this weekend! Also making its wide release debut are the award-buzzing films I, Tonya (2017), Phantom Thread (2017), and Call Me By Your Name (2017).

Sally Hawkins’ Eliza is mute, relying on American Sign Language to communicate with those around her, and this casting decision has been met with criticism from the deaf community, with notable deaf celebrities like Nyle DiMarco (winner of America’s Next Top Model) talking about how the signs she uses, while correct, aren’t how someone who natively signs would use the language.
