Welcome to Day 2471 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom – Theology Thursday – Who Wrote the Book of Proverbs – I Dare You Not To Bore Me With The Bible. Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2471 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2471 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Today is the twenty-fourth lesson in our segment, Theology Thursday. Utilizing excerpts from a book titled: I Dare You Not To Bore Me With The Bible written by Hebrew Bible scholar and professor the late Dr. Michael S Heiser, we will invest a couple of years going through the entire Bible, exploring short Biblical lessons that you may not have received in Bible classes or Church. The Bible is a wonderful book. Its pages reveal the epic story of God's redemption of humankind and the long, bitter conflict against evil. Yet it's also a book that seems strange to us. While God's Word was written for us, it wasn't written to us. Today, our lesson is: Who Wrote the Book of Proverbs? Who Wrote the Book of Proverbs? The first book of Proverbs announces, “These are the proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel” (compare Prov 10:1; 25:1). By its own testimony, though, the book of Proverbs had many authors: “These are the sayings of the wise [literally, wise ones]” (Prov 24:23). This same idea—that the proverbs in the book were written by several sages—is reiterated in Proverbs 1:6 and 22:17. But old traditions die hard, and the authorship of these proverbs is still debated. What role did Solomon actually play in writing this Wisdom literature? Solomon Had a Pen Name? In some passages of Proverbs, the sages who wrote the book are named. Proverbs 30 was written by Agur, son of Jakeh (30:1), but we know nothing else about him. Some believe Agur is a pen name for Solomon. However, there is little evidence to support this. The name may also be translated more commonly as “the assembler,” which may point to an anonymous collector of proverbs who also wrote chapter 30. Proverbs 31:1 informs us that King Lemuel wrote the famous chapter about the virtuous woman. In this verse, we learn that Lemuel was taught proverbs by his mother. There is little else known about this elusive king. Jewish tradition views the writer as yet another pen name of Solomon, but there is no reliable proof for this connection. In the Tradition of Solomon Proverbs 25:1 provides another insight into authorship: “These also are proverbs of Solomon which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied.” The word translated “copied” can also mean “transcribed.” This suggests that some of the proverbs (perhaps chapters 25-29) were produced by scribes living in the days of Hezekiah (ca. 715-687 bc), after the lifetime of Solomon. At least one anonymous sage did contribute to Proverbs. Portions of Proverbs 22-23 come from an Egyptian wisdom text composed before Solomon's lifetime, The Instruction of Amenemope.- In addition,...
Song: Quiet At First Music by: Eileen Webb Lyrics by: Kai Skye Notes: How often do you get to sing with a thrush? Eileen Webb has made that possible for us... and so we get full enjoyment out of it, singing the entire song twice after learning it. The song itself, with words from Kai Skye, is a succinct reminder to drop in to that sensation of connection to all living things and how good it feels. What could be better? Recording this was unusual for me, because instead of loops on Loopy (where I just have to get it sounding right once!), it's layered tracks because of singing with the thrush... so I got to practice staying centered for the entire length of the song... not once, not twice, but three times plus a bit! It was really good for me -- so thank you for singing with me and perusing the A Breath of Song library -- I love the way my sense of responsibility to you keeps me in practice. Songwriter Info: Eileen is a consultant and facilitator who helps tech companies build stronger relationships within and across their teams. Meet Joe! Here is the Bio Joe sent me. He writes better than I can!! "In the interest of full disclosure, I will explain my pen name, Joseph Stanley. My birth name is Joseph Stanley Suchocki. My father's name, Stanley, is the origin of my middle name. So in a respectful nod to my father, I am using Joseph Stanley as my pen name. I know he would have enjoyed our names being together in my literary endeavors. My personality and writing characteristics are based on a variety of experiences. Being a baby boomer and Capricorn started the ball rolling in January 1946. High school and two years of college were highlighted by my playing in a true-to-form sixties garage band of western Michigan fame. The next major influence was five years (1966–1971) of service in the army; I spent two years in Vietnam and reached the rank of captain. My claim to fame in service was coming home in one piece and of sound mind. While I appreciate and understand people thanking me for my service, I simply saw it as an expected duty to be fulfilled. After military service, I started working in medical sales and sales management, eventually becoming an independent entrepreneur. That chapter started with my founding a national consulting company, where I spent thirty-five years conducting hundreds of seminars throughout the country and writing policy manuals, newsletters, training programs, and more. Heading into retirement, I battled depression (see the preface), which launched my journey into being a fiction writer. I began studying the art of writing, with a goal of creating and publishing stories in various formats. And as you read this, my journey as an author continues to be a work in progress. I invite you to check out my author's website (www.stanleywrites.com) and follow me on Facebook (JosephStanleyWrites). I hope you've enjoyed or will enjoy Collective Vengeance, and look for the sequels, Counter Vengeance in 2025 and Serial Vengeance in 2026." In this week's episode of The Best Guest we're talking about if you can guest on podcasts using a pen name.Key TakeawaysPen names can be utilised to protect identity, maintain anonymity, or address legal and safety concerns during podcast appearances.Throughout history, well-known authors like JK Rowling, Agatha Christie, Stephen King, and Mark Twain have used pen namesIt is indeed feasible to implement a podcast interview strategy while using a pen name. Make sure to clearly communicate the desired level of anonymity required to your marketing team and/or podcast booking agency.Practical considerations for authors using pen names in podcasts include the likelihood of hosts requesting a headshot and the increasing use of video elements. Authors are encouraged to choose podcasts aligning with their privacy preferences or discuss with hosts possible methods, such as using avatars or turning the camera off, to conceal identity during interviews.Despite potential privacy concerns, using a pen name is not a barrier to leveraging podcast interviews for various benefits. Authors can still grow their platform, increase website traffic, boost book sales, improve SEO, and build a personal brand through podcast appearances.Connect with Victoria BennionTo learn more about working with us visit www.victoriabennion.com

Then to Professor Peter Stansky to learn the education of Eric Blair who would in time adopt the pen name of George Orwell and write up his struggles in the Spain Civil war and in wartime Europe. Also a conversation with WSJ journalist Brett Forrest about the disappearance of the sad young man who invented himself as an FBI helpmate during the war on terror and then turned his peculiar talent for adventure to the Russian attack on Ukraine. In this episode, I share from a Wikipedia article, the ups and the major downs of the life of Joanne Rowling… better known as J.K. Rowling, the author of the 7 book Harry Potter Series! In her own words she said, “She was as poor as one could be and not be homeless,” about the time she lived in a flat she described as mouse infested. How can a woman go from being in the ‘poor house' to being the highest paid author of all time? It only took a bit of imagination! I am your host, Marci Nettles. I have had a lifetime of opportunities where I had the choice to Breakdown or Breakthrough. It is my hope this Podcast may become your light in the darkness, as you listen to the stories of people I consider “heroes.” Each one had a point where they too had to choose to either Breakdown or Breakthrough! Well, this is the motherlode of write ups! I launched A Game of Hearts and Heists a spicy sapphic fantasy romance on the 10th of February 2023 and I promised to share everything that I'd done to create this new pen name. Goal: create a financially sustainable fiction pen name that gives me the opportunity to have fun writing and create books that are ‘cannot put down, hangover inducing' Subgoals: surpass 33 preorders, give out over 100 ARCs, keep production costs as low as possible TLDR Take Aways Hate to say it, but mindset IS everything Infrastructure is key You need more time than you think TikTok works You have to talk about your excitement Read full blog post here.
Authors often feel that using a pen name, also known as a pseudonym or a nom de plume, has some advantages. While it's true that using a pen name can offer a writer added privacy and distance from their book and possibly facilitate branding, there are some potential drawbacks that need to be examined before you take the leap. In this episode of the How to be an Author podcast, writing coach Karena Akhavein takes you through the true benefits and difficulties inherent in adopting a pseudonym, from legal and financial ramifications to marketing and mindset.
Today, Lori is interviewing Carolyn Hays. They'll be talking about the freedom that can be found in a pen name and her new book A Girlhood: Letter to my Transgender Daughter. A Girlhood will have four overseas editions, including those by Picador UK and Flammarion in France. Her past books have been listed as New York Times Notable Books of the Year and Kirkus's Best Fiction of the Year, and she's written for National Public Radio and the Washington Post. You can find her on her website or follow her publishers on Twitter at @PressShopPR and @BlairPublisher. During the discussion, Carly and CeCe remind us to lean into specificity in opening pages; the importance of plausibility as well as newer comp titles; the ‘movie trailer' trick for dealing with interiority; avoiding generic interiority; and advice for researching the speech patterns of characters from a different time period. After which, Bianca chats with Riley Sager, NYT bestselling author of The House Across the Lake, about having various pen names; pivoting as a writer; making setting a character in and of itself; showing vs telling, particularly in the thriller genre; the benefits of not giving too much away and making readers do the work; and writing an effective prologue. A husband and father of two, he keeps himself busy with projects such as writing books and songs. One of his latest pieces titled Shakey's Madness explores the possibility that Shakespeare didn't actually exist and instead was a pen name as the work might indicate that he was bipolar!Learn a little bit more about this topic and Robert as we explore in a little more detail the context behind the speculations. Also, make sure to check out the links below for some of the other work by Robert including a tribute song that he wrote dedicated to the late great Kobe Bryant. Liza Donovan is a world class artist who won a competition to produce one of five official posters for the Women's March in 2017. Her poster of a raised black fist and flame producing a dove has been used all over the world! So I was VERY impressed when my friends Leigh Ann and Tom introduced me to Liza. She was the perfect choice to illustrate my very first children's picture book: SOFIA LOVES TORTILLAS (available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Indiebound.org or bookshop.org). Liza and I talk about art and inspiration and (of course) about creating SOFIA! A really fun conversation! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

RISE FROM STUCK -- Get Unstuck, Christian Author, Take Consistent Action, Be More Productive
Rise from Stuck Warrior, I've got author DK Drake here with me today. It's really easy to have her on the show because, well, she is me. D.K. Drake is my pen name, and the short story I'm about to share is the origin of that pen name. Why do I use a pen name? Several reasons. One, to humble my pride. I don't want to be obsessed with seeing my name on the cover of a book. And two, DK Drake is a lot easier to say and spell than Bonnie Jean Schaefer, plus it sounds more like a fantasy author than my given name. So what does DK stand for? Darcy Kimberly. So why Darcy Kimberly? Well, I needed to come up with the name of the main character for the story I'm sharing today. My older, bolder sister's name is Marcy, and I wanted my character to be bold like my sister, so I replaced the M with the D and named her Darcy. As for the K, my boss at the time was also a graphic designer, and she designed the first cover of the first fantasy novel I wrote. Her name is Kimberly, and I threw the K in there to honor her part in the genesis of my fantasy writing career. Then I threw Drake in the mix to bring out the alliteration of the D and the K. And at the time I wrote the story, I had only published one novel that was a complete flop. I thus wanted to get into the head of a successful novelist, so I made the main character a bestselling author in search of an idea for her next book. Notice in the story that she doesn't have a last name. All I knew at the time was that her name was Darcy. After readers enjoyed the story, I decided to write a fantasy series based on the dragon stalker concept I created for the story, and that's when I added the K and Drake. I wanted to let her be the author of the series. Now I wrote the story at the prompting of friends who kept harassing me to write a story about cops and a story about dragons. To make both of those friends happy, I wrote Cops, Robbers…and Dragons? If you want to read along as I read, you can snag a copy as part of the DK Drake starter library at AuthorDKDrake.com. How do we start to describe this episode? Well, first, we dove into the topic of self-love and the importance it plays with yourself and with others. Significant other subjects include, cut my grass naked, love is different after divorce, single ladies, men having hang-ups about ‘toys', Frosted Flakes, and health includes intimacy. It was nice to have Kelly back and actually bring in some of the products that she has available. We're still working on the YouTube video and will have the link below shortly. The podcast was great, but the video takes it to another different level. Stay tuned. Welcome newcomer Kelly to the mic. And she brought presents! She is a racy romance author as well as being a sexual health and wellness professional. We'll put her website and contact info below this. Well, this podcast is a little all over the place. We started with the 5 love languages, moved on to self-care, and morphed into vibrators for men and women. Topics of giving people a safe space, an orgasm a day, plunge the vibrator in the USB thing, a ‘cereal' dater, I couldn't say the word ‘clitoris' in a room full of strangers, a fruit rollup in my pocket, an old girlfriend of mine, and does a divorce counselor need to experience divorce in order to be a good one. We could have talked for hours, but I had to limit the time because I certainly couldn't control the subject matter!! We will definitely have Kelly back for some more of her insights as they relate to her expertise in self-care. Enjoy.Kelly Manley Pure RomanceKelly's Racy Romance Novels (3 Part Series) Pen Name: Corinne Lambert
