MY Devotional: Daily Encouragement from Leading The Way

Martha and Mary both loved the Lord, but their actions revealed two very different priorities. Martha was busy serving, preparing, cleaning, and trying to please Jesus through activity. Mary, however, sat at His feet and listened to His Word. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds believers to beware of anything—even good things—that crowds the Lord out of our lives. Jesus gently corrected Martha because she was “worried and upset about many things,” while Mary had chosen what was better. The issue was not service itself, but preoccupation. Martha's anxiety came from being consumed with the temporary things of life instead of resting in the eternal value of God's Word and the presence of Christ. Dr. Youssef explains that anxiety often reveals where we are seeking security and peace apart from the Lord. C.S. Lewis observed that God designed the human soul to run on Himself—and that lasting happiness and peace cannot be found apart from Him. Like Martha, we may sincerely desire to please God while still stressing over unnecessary tasks, emotions, and expectations. But when Christ becomes the center of our lives, our priorities are reordered, and He fills us with His peace, assurance, and hope. Prayer: Father, pour Your peace into my heart and mind as I release the cares of this world and focus on You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7). Learn more in Dr. Michael A. MY Devotional: Daily Encouragement from Leading The Way

Some days feel like one long interruption: missed buses, forgotten lunchboxes, nonstop meetings, long lines, and traffic that won't move. In moments like these, frustration rises fast—and patience can disappear even faster. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds us that we cannot generate long-suffering patience through sheer willpower. Only the Holy Spirit can pour that patience into our hearts until it becomes a defining trait—not a forced performance.   Dr. Youssef also reframes how the fruit of the Spirit becomes visible. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control aren't proven when life is easy—they're revealed when the heat is on. Joy shows up in joyless situations. Peace shines when circumstances don't make sense. Patience appears when someone (or something) is actively trying your patience. As you abide in Christ and yield moment by moment to the Spirit's leadership, He produces real fruit—consistently.   At the core of Christian patience is an unshakeable conviction: God is sovereign, and He is at work in the lives of His children. You are not forgotten or forsaken, no matter how chaotic your day becomes. This episode will encourage you to trust God's hand in the small pressures of daily life—and let the Spirit grow patience that reflects Jesus.   Prayer: God, thank You that no matter what comes my way, You have not forgotten nor forsaken me. Help my life to exhibit Christian patience even in the most trying circumstances. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love” (Ephesians 4:2). Learn more in Dr. Michael A. MY Devotional: Daily Encouragement from Leading The Way

In 1970, Dr. Michael Youssef was newly arrived in Sydney with almost nothing—just one hundred borrowed dollars and a humble job at the telephone company. His supervisor noticed something surprising: despite poverty and uncertainty, Dr. Youssef was consistently calm, content, and unshaken. When asked why, Dr. Youssef answered plainly: peace came when he surrendered everything to Christ—plans, goals, finances, circumstances, and even anxiety. But his boss's response reveals the real barrier many face: “I couldn't do that… I could never surrender my will to anyone.” He knew the Gospel and even went to church at times, yet he refused to place God in charge. This devotional confronts a timeless truth: peace is free—you can't earn it or buy it—but it will cost you surrender. You can't clutch control and experience Christ's peace at the same time. The invitation is clear: lay down your weapons, release your grip, and let Jesus lead your life. What He gives in return is the security and calm your heart has been searching for. Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know the only way to divine peace is to surrender to You, the God of peace. Help me to never resist Your call to give everything to You. Thank You for the free gift of Your peace. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.  “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you” (Isaiah 26:3). MY Devotional: Daily Encouragement from Leading The Way

Have you ever noticed that the moment you decide to pray, interruptions multiply—phone calls, doorbells, to-do lists, daydreams, even sleepiness? In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains why that's not an accident. Prayer is sacred fellowship with your heavenly Father, and Satan will do whatever he can to disrupt it—because he knows prayer is a vital source of spiritual power. Dr. Youssef reminds us that prayer is how we communicate with God, learn His heart, and grow in faith. It's where we receive encouragement, strength, and the power to face life. That's why Jesus urged believers—especially in chaotic times—to always pray and not give up (Luke 18:1). When prayer becomes only a crisis-response, we reveal we haven't made prayer a daily relationship—thanking God in joy as quickly as we cry out in pain. This devotional reframes prayer as more than requesting, persuading, or “getting God to act.” Prayer is the evidence of love, surrender, obedience, and sincerity—joyful, intimate communion with the Lord who wants to meet with you. Prayer: Lord, please forgive me for neglecting prayer and time with You. Thank You for blessing me with an intimate relationship with You. Help me never to neglect my time with You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” (Romans 12:12). Learn more in Dr. Michael A. MY Devotional: Daily Encouragement from Leading The Way

Deep in the Arabian Desert, a small fortress once served as a place of safety for Lawrence of Arabia. When stronger forces attacked, he would retreat behind its walls—finding protection, provision, and renewed strength. Dr. Michael Youssef uses this vivid picture to remind believers of an even greater refuge: prayer. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, you'll hear why prayer is not a last resort, but a secure stronghold available day or night. In God's presence, His strength becomes your strength—and His protection steadies your heart when the world feels unstable. Dr. Youssef points to Jesus' promise that when believers gather in His name, He is with them, and that heaven moves as God's people pray in agreement (Matthew 18:18–20). When deception, anxiety, or spiritual pressure crowds your mind, this devotional calls you to turn immediately to Christ—asking Him to surround you with protection, clarify your thinking, and supply the strength you need to persevere. God's fortress doesn't crumble, His power doesn't weaken, and His deliverance is sure for those who call on Him. Prayer: Lord, thank You for providing me with the safety of Your strength, power, and salvation. Because You've set up Your Kingdom in my heart, I call on Your power to defeat feelings of fear, doubt, and confusion. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Scripture Focus: “Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me” (Psalm 50:15). Learn more in Dr. Michael A. MY Devotional: Daily Encouragement from Leading The Way

If you feel weary, discouraged, or defeated by sin, Scripture doesn't offer a shortcut—it offers a doorway: prayer. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds us that there is no lasting power over temptation and no consistent victory over sin without spending time with God in prayer. Dr. Youssef challenges the common habit of treating prayer like a last-ditch effort. Instead, prayer should be your first option—in trouble, in joy, and in every in-between moment. He points to the testimonies of Scripture where God moved mightily as His people prayed: Moses, Joshua, Hannah, David, Elijah, Daniel—and most powerfully, Jesus Himself. When Christ prayed in Gethsemane, the forces of darkness trembled, revealing that heaven's strength is unleashed when we align our will with God's perfect plan. Whether your relationships feel strained, your heart feels heavy, or your soul feels dry, this devotional calls you back to the simplest, strongest step of faith: pray—trusting God is not intimidated by your circumstances, and believing His promise that when you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you. Prayer: Lord, in Your mercy, restore my soul and prepare me for the life You have planned for me. I want to live for You and trust You to finish Your work in me. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. “Come near to God and he will come near to you. . . . Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up” (James 4:8, 10). Learn more in Dr. Michael A. In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl continues the series The King Has Come with a raw and life-giving exploration of the second great gift Jesus brings: peace.Turning to the familiar yet profound scene in Luke 2:8–20, Pastor Karl invites us into the midnight terror of ordinary shepherds—suddenly confronted by the blinding glory of God—and shows how the very first words from heaven that night were not “Merry Christmas,” but “Fear not.” That first Christmas did not begin with sentimental calm; it began with paralyzing, mega-fear. And right there, in the middle of stacked-on-stacked fear, the angel announced good news of great joy: a Savior has been born who is Christ the Lord, the Prince of Peace. With pastoral tenderness and unflinching honesty, Pastor Karl unmasks fear as the mortal enemy of peace—how it magnifies threats, shrinks our view of God, and paints our future in colors darker than God ever intended. Yet the gospel is stronger: peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of a Person. Peace is not something Jesus gives; peace is who Jesus is—and He gives Himself.Through the shepherds' journey from terror to testimony, we're given clear, scriptural paths out of fear and into the unshakable peace of Christ: speaking God's truth over fear's lies, refusing to agree with the spirit of fear, drawing near to Jesus through spiritual disciplines, and taking bold steps of obedience that move us against comfort and toward surrender. This is a word for everyone whose heart has been ruled by anxiety, worst-case scenarios, or the quiet fears that steal joy—especially in this season. A tender yet urgent call to stop trusting the unknown future to our own control and start trusting it to the known God who entered our fear as a baby in a manger.Because the King has come, fear does not get the final word. Peace does. And when the Prince of Peace takes over a life, what spills out is no longer fear—but praise, testimony, and unshakable confidence in the goodness of God.Essential listening for anyone who longs to trade fear for the peace that passes all understanding this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

In this inspiring sermon, Associate Pastor Jeff Stemple steps in for Senior Pastor Karl, who is currently on a mission trip in Ukraine with the Excel Leadership Network, planting churches in a war-torn region. Pastor Jeff shares a heartfelt message about the importance of guarding your heart, drawing from Proverbs 4:23, which describes the heart as the wellspring of life. Reflecting on a personal story from his childhood in 1983, when his prized BMX bike was stolen, Pastor Jeff illustrates how unguarded decisions can lead to regret and loss. He emphasizes that the heart is both valuable and prone to deception, urging listeners to protect it by renewing their minds with God's Word and discerning what influences they allow in. Through practical steps, like setting a daily reminder to reflect on “What has my heart?” and engaging in upcoming church workshops, Pastor Jeff encourages the congregation to cultivate a peaceful, discerning heart rooted in faith. This message offers timeless wisdom for making decisions that align with God's will and lead to a life of purpose.Watch all our sermons on our YouTube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
