Noah Smith is a multidisciplinary visual storyteller specializing in UX design. With a background in film, Noah's also a big, big fan of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the 1986 comedy that's also full of action, drama, and sprawling musical numbers. Ferris, an extremely popular teenager, skips school and with his best friend Cameron and his girlfriend Sloane, they embark on a series of adventures. What about the possibility of Ferris being a figment of Cameron's imagination, the so-called Fight Club theory? And how does Ferris connect to Spider-Man? Plus, the movie's small but memorable baseball moments make it perfect for the month of March and Major League Baseball's season openers.-Noah Smith's true love for all things 80s includes some pretty rad engagement photos that made their way into People and Huffpost. An accomplished woodworker, he's designed tables, bowls, cutting boards, spoons, and everything in-between, a hobby he began in 2020. For a few years in college he produced music (under the name, Hard Mix) and eventually signed to a record label.https://www.noahdanielsmith.com/https://www.instagram.com/noahdanielsmith/https://www.linkedin.com/in/noahdanielsmith/https://www.huffpost.com/entry/omg-these-80s-themed-engagement-pics_n_5978cffce4b0e201d57a8f96https://people.com/human-interest/couple-80s-throwback-engagement-pics/https://open.spotify.com/artist/16VGnqXIwxBGxmeShTvFKE?si=NB20bU3VQQWy0wvD4LSzyw-Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091042/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098795/ https://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2012/06/why-ferris-bueller-never-existed/327276/ https://www.businessinsider.com/the-ferris-bueller-fight-club-theory-and-other-fan-conspiracies-sending-people-on-reddit-into-a-tailspin-2015-6 https://www.mlb.com/cut4/33rd-anniversary-of-cubs-game-attended-by-ferris-bueller-c279886598 https://www.slashfilm.com/503532/the-ferris-bueller-fight-club-theory/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiMuj85ngEo https://theweek.com/speedreads/540187/john-hughes-wrote-ferris-buellers-day-6-days-79-other-facts-about-80s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Rose_House -Pop culture discussedhttps://www.bustle.com/p/the-ferris-bueller-reference-in-spider-man-homecoming-you-mightve-missed-68654 https://typographica.org/on-typography/corbis-buys-veer-whither-the-fonts/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooney_(band)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcazL5yNukw -Other movies and shows discussed, alphabetical listAlfie (1966)Deadpool (2016)Fight Club (1999)Hello Dolly! There's over sixty years of Spider-Man stories, featuring one of the best supporting casts in all of comics. So, why does Marvel Studios try so hard to avoid using any of it? The latest animated series to feature the webslinger, YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN, debuted on Disney+ this week and it once again reimagines Peter Parkers origin almost entirely from scratch! Originally meant to fill in the gaps of Tom Holland's SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING saga, this new Peter, voiced by Hudson Thames, gets his powers from... Doctor Strange? Skeleton Crew foregår mellem Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi og Episode VII: The Force Awakens, og altså i samme tidsperiode som fx The Mandalorian.

Nick and Angela continue their Christmas tradition and welcome a Hollywood star to Dish HQ. Born and raised in South-West London, Tom Holland's career began on the West End, when he won the part of Billy Elliot in 2008. He went on to star in the critically-acclaimed film, The Impossible with Naomi Watts in 2012. He is best known for his role as Spider-Man and his first foray into the Marvel Universe came in Captain America: Civil War in 2016. He has since reprised the role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and several Avengers movies. Tom Holland is here to celebrate the launch of Bero, his new alcohol-free beer. Angela prepares a festive feast of slow-cooked pork shoulder with peas & mint with roast potatoes with rosemary salt, sticky pigs in blankets, the best cauliflower cheese, by Martha Collison and orange & honey glazed carrots. The experts at Waitrose pair this with a No.1 Piccini Chianti Classico Riserva. To finish, Angela makes Tom's favourite, orange Jaffa cakes and serves some No.1 brown butter mince pies. This episode is the perfect end to another wonderful year on Dish. Nick and Angela share their plans for the holidays and we find out what happens at a Holland family Christmas. Our trio pull crackers and read some Spider-Man-themed 'dad jokes', while Tom reveals what Zendaya really thinks of his cooking. If you would like to give us feedback on how were doing follow us at: https://discord.gg/cd6sNqvnav https://beacons.ai/senornerdpodcast Venom is a 2018 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Venom. The first film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU), it was directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by the writing team of Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, along with Kelly Marcel. Tom Hardy stars as Eddie Brock and Venom alongside Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, and Reid Scott. In the film, struggling journalist Eddie gains superpowers after becoming the host of an alien symbiote, Venom, whose species plans to invade Earth. Following Venom's appearance in Spider-Man 3 (2007), Sony Pictures attempted to develop a spin-off film based on the Venom character, which was stalled due to issues with the company's ongoing Spider-Man franchise. In March 2016, work began on a new version that would start a new shared universe featuring the non-Spider-Man Marvel characters that the studio possessed film rights to. Sony also originally intended for the Venom film to share the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), but ultimately distanced the film from Spider-Man. Sony's Columbia Pictures produced the film in association with Marvel Entertainment.[5] In March 2017, Rosenberg and Pinkner were set to write, with Fleischer and Hardy added in May; Marcel subsequently joined to rewrite the script. Filming took place from October 2017 to January 2018 in Atlanta, New York City, and San Francisco. The film was primarily inspired by the comic book miniseries Venom: Lethal Protector (1993) and the story arc "Planet of the Symbiotes" (1995). Ludwig Göransson was hired to compose the film's score, marking his second Marvel film after Black Panther (2018). Venom premiered at the Regency Village Theater on October 1, 2018, and was theatrically released in the United States on October 5. Despite receiving generally negative reviews from critics, Hardy's performance and the character's relationship with Venom were praised, and the film became the seventh-highest-grossing film of 2018, earning over $856 million worldwide and setting several box office records for an October release. It is followed by two sequels: Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which was released on October 1, 2021, and Venom: The Last Dance, which is scheduled for release on October 25, 2024. Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a 2021 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Venom. The sequel to Venom (2018) and the second film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU), it was directed by Andy Serkis from a screenplay by Kelly Marcel. Tom Hardy stars as Eddie Brock and Venom alongside Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson. In the film, Eddie and the alien symbiote Venom must face serial killer Cletus Kasady (Harrelson) after he becomes the host of an offshoot of Venom named Carnage. Venom was intended by Sony Pictures to be the start of a new shared universe, and plans for a sequel began during production on the first film. Harrelson was cast to make a brief appearance as Cletus at the end of Venom, with the intention of him becoming the villain Carnage in the sequel. Official work on the sequel began in January 2019, with Hardy and Harrelson confirmed to return along with Marcel as writer. Serkis was hired as director that August, partly due to his experience working with computer-generated imagery (CGI) and motion capture technology, which was an important part of portraying Venom and Carnage in the film. Filming took place at Leavesden Studios in England from November 2019 to February 2020, with additional filming in San Francisco in February. The title was announced in April 2020. Marco Beltrami was hired to compose the film's score, replacing Ludwig Göransson from the previous film.

This week Alex & Dan delve back into the vaults to bring you an episode from the TWRAD days - and it's the big one! From 23 films over 10 years, the south coast dynamic duo have a tough task this week, as they have to choose their favourite moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe - and thanks to the power of social media, the listener's lend a hand and share some of theirs, too! From where it all began with Iron Man back in 2008 with RDJ uttering those most famous words, Samuel L Jackson walking out of the shadows in the post credit scenes - to a miniature battle from 2015's Ant-Man, dance off's in Guardians of the Galaxy and the reveal of Peter Parker's identity in Spider-Man Homecoming - the boys do their best to cover some of the most iconic scenes from the first three phases! The duo digress during this session, pitching their epic movie ideas with the pizza-fed New York rodent versus the mutant south coast Seagull (are you in?). Dan also discusses bootleg Dr Dre CD's in Time Square and some of the tourist trappings which he experienced during his time in the city.... but what does that have to do with the First Avenger? #GITS
There has never been a more spot on Peter Parker on screen for me, and I'm one who actually has lots of love for both previous live action versions... But to cast Tom Holland perfectly and adding Michael Keaton into the mix was a recipe for a comic book movie gem. Minor complaints, but this was indeed an amazing return home. Enjoy, folks.
Today we turn our eye to that most iconic of sad street-level heroes, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Starting with Tobey McGuire in 2002, Pete and Martha dig into the screen iterations of Spidey, and discuss what makes one successful. Homework for the episode: look, it's a whole lot of Spider-Man, but we dig in deep on Spider-Man (2002, dir. Sam Raimi), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012, dir. Mark Webb), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017, dir. Jon Watts) and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018, dir. Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman)

Editor - Dan Lebental ACE BEVERLY HILLS COP: AXEL F editor Dan Lebental not only took on the daunting task of bringing back a beloved character that audiences haven't seen in thirty years, but he did it with one hand. The other was working simultaneously on another Bruckheimer blockbuster, BAD BOYS: RIDE OR DIE. With the help of his long-time assistant, Dawn Michelle King, and his trusty "embedded sound design" workflow, Dan was able to pull off making both films in fine style. BEVERLY HILLS COP: AXEL F sees the titular hero return to Beverly Hills to aid his adult daughter after her life is threated when she gets too close to a crime ring being investigated by Axel's old friend, Billy Rosewood. DAN LEBENTAL Editor Dan Lebental ACE seems to be the man to call when it's time for big laughs and big action. Aside from the many films Dan has done in the MCU, including IRON MAN, IRON MAN 2, ANT MAN, SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME, and SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, Dan's work can also be found in ELF, BAD BOYS FOR LIFE, BAD BOYS: RIDE OR DIE and DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES. Reginald Andres finally got his life together – when he was turned into a vampire. While he doesn't fit into the stereotypical expectations of what a vampire looks like – he's not chiseled or classically handsome – Reginald has found his place amongst an unlikely cohort that includes the cool vampire who sired him, the former vampire chieftain turned unexpected ally (or is she?), and his co-worker/former girlfriend. A show with a lot of heart and just enough blood, “Reginald the Vampire” proves the undead life is just as complicated as life itself.Jacob Batalon made his debut as executive producer and lead star as the titular character Reginald Baskin in Syfy's REGINALD THE VAMPIRE, a dramedy based on Johnny B. Truant's FAT VAMPIRE book series. The story is set in a world populated by beautiful, fit, and vain vampires with Batalon's Reginald being the unlikely hero who will have to navigate every kind of obstacle – the girl he loves but cannot be with, a bully manager at work and the vampire chieftain who wants him dead.Batalon has established himself as a leading star in the industry with his ability to resonate with his characters and captivate global audiences. Following the success of his scene-stealing role as Peter Parker's charming best friend ‘Ned Leeds' in the MCU Spider-Man films with Tom Holland, Batalon continues to dominate film and television both on and off the screen.Following the immediate break out success of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING in 2017, Batalon went on to reprise his role in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and AVENGERS: END GAME. He also starred in Netflix's LIFT and LET IT SNOW, EVERY DAY for MGM, Randall Park's debut film SHORTCOMINGS; and the independent films THE TRUE DON QUIXOTE; BLOOD FEST; DISH and BANANA SPLIT. “Tony Stark was able to build this in a cave, with a bunch of scraps!”Yes, Jeff Bridges' Obadiah Stane is both furious and incredulous when he delivers that line in 2008's blockbuster and zeitgeist-defining Iron Man movie. If we're being real, we've often wondered about that, as well. Never mind the less than ideal circumstances under which Tony Stark designed and built the power source for the Iron Man armor, not to mention its dual nature as a lifesaving device and an incredibly efficient fusion-type power generator. Oh, and then there's the fact that its basis is an entirely new element, known as palladium in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.Yes, despite the MCU's admirable commitment to internal consistency and logic, we admit that the ARC Reactor is a lot to swallow. But that doesn't mean we love it any less! And when we love something at Does it Fly? that's our cue to dig into both the science and story logic behind it to see if it flies…just like some repulsor-powered jet boots. In this episode we look at everything from the elemental nature of the power source to the amount of force the reactor might constantly be generating (not to mention how that would function when surgically embedded in a human body) to the philosophical and ethical questions raised around superhero-level technology in the real world. Want to find out if Iron Man really flies? This episode is for you!SUGGESTED VIEWINGAt minimum, to understand this episode, you should probably have watched the first Iron Man (2008) movie, which is also the very first movie in what would later become known as the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe. We're assuming that if you're on this page and you've read this far, you've already done that. But limiting us to that would be no fun at all, so Does it Fly? is proud to present (in the tradition of our Planet of the Apes saga complete and correct viewing order) the complete and official guide to Tony Stark's entire saga on screen in the MCU.If you've never watched a single MCU flick and just want to follow Iron Man's adventures, this is the way to do it in the correct order. We promise you'll see every imaginable use of the ARC Reactor by the end of it. And just for fun, we're even including a guide to all the different ARC Reactors used in each of these films!Iron Man (2008)Palladium Arc Reactor Mark IPalladium Arc Reactor Mark IIIron Man 2 (2010)Palladium Arc Reactor Mark IIIIvan Vanko's Arc Reactor (Mark I Whiplash Armor)Ivan Vanko's Arc Reactor (Mark II Whiplash Armor)The New Element Arc Reactor Mark I (this is also used in The Avengers)The Avengers (2012)Iron Man 3 (2013)The New Element Arc Reactor Mark IIAvengers: Age of Ultron (2015)The New Element Arc Reactor Mark III (also seen in Captain America: Civil War)Captain America: Civil War (2016)Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)The New Element Arc Reactor Mark IVAvengers: Infinity War (2018)The New Element Arc Reactor Mark VAvengers: Endgame (2019)The New Element Arc Reactor Mark VIFURTHER READING Do you want to delve a little deeper into the facts, concepts, and stories Hakeem and Tamara referenced in today's episode? Here are a few recommendations!Tokamak Fusion Reactor“An ARC reactor is something that actually exists, we call it a tokamak reactor. It probably weighs thousands of tons, and they've barely solved the big problem of plasma crashes. These things…have been in development for decades and they're notorious for these plasma instabilities. It must generate a plasma in order to generate fusion…”Deuterium“The issue is the byproducts, like radiation. Fusion has less radiation than fission does. But you still want to avoid as many byproducts as possible.”See also: TritiumQuantum Tunneling“You have to have a lot of energy, high intensity, and high temperature.”See also: Net positive fusion and Cyclotron“The Intersection Between Genius and Access”“It's scientifically proven…they used who gets a patent as the metric for scientific success. And guess who gets a patent? Those who in their childhood were exposed to patent-getters.”WANT MORE FROM DOES IT FLY?Can't get enough of The Boys, now in its fourth season on Prime Video? After the cinematic lows of The Amazing Spider-Man series it was time for another Spider-Man reboot, this time by folding him into the MCU. After his first apperance as Peter Park in Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland got his own (sort of) movie dealing with the trials and tribulations of being a high school superhero. Going up against Michael Keaton's Vulture and his terrible surrogate dad in Tony Stark/Iron Man the film did a great job at youthifying the franchise and taking the character in a new direction.
