Welcome to the Healthier Workplaces Show, a program dedicated to highlighting the efforts of industry professionals who protect our workers and their communities from occupational and environmental hazards. This week's guests are Tim Paz, who serves as the National Industrial Hygiene Program Manager for a Federal Agency, and Amy McCae, a nationally recognized consultant specializing in Empathetic Leadership and Mindfulness. We sat down with them to discuss the important role Empathy plays in making connections with others and how it can benefit you and your organization. The May 2022 issue of The Synergist featured a cover story on Harnessing the Hidden Power of Empathy, and how it can lead to effective leadership and greater compassion from OEHS professionals. In the article, authors Paz and McCae took a deep dive into why you need to be thinking both strategically AND empathetically about your audience and why it matters to them when you deliver a message. After having incredible success with homeopathy and the products of Adored Beast, I was very excited to sit down for a chat with Sarah Griffiths DCH, and to learn more. Sarah shares about her journey to become a homeopath, how homeopathy works (so cool!), how to administer them for horses, and how to support your horses gut health with homeopathy, probiotics, supplements and more. A conversation packed with helpful and supportive guidance and information, and such a joy to meet and learn from Sarah. Enjoy! Sarah is a partner to the Adored Beast Apothecary and the creator of two companies: The Animal Synergist and Equus Soap Co., located in Langley, BC, Canada. A horse trainer, feline and canine nutritionist, and a classical homeopath, she started her journey into animal wellness as an equestrian and a zookeeper. She has even worked as a commercial falconer. With over 20 years of education and field/clinical experience feeding and caring for wild and domestic animals of a variety of species, Sarah consults with clients and companies across Canada to help them with species-appropriate approaches to animal nutrition. Sarah's unique and deeply caring approach to animal care focuses on providing synergistic wellness planning services and safe, non-toxic grooming options for animals. She's a strong believer that less is more when it comes to our ever-increasingly toxic environment. We can't control a lot of things but we can surely control what we feed our animals and what we put on them topically. Sarah holds a Diploma in Classical Homeopathy (DCH) from the Vancouver Homeopathic Academy, a certificate in exotic feline husbandry and is currently completing a 500 hour Clinical Pet Nutritionist program from the Academy of Natural Sciences (CPN Certification) and 100 hour CEN (Clinical Equine Nutritionist). Her mission is to empower as many animal guardians as possible to choose preventative options for their pets without fear or guilt. There is a lot of information out there these days and she believes in providing you with the tools you need to give your animals the best life possible. It is at this point that most leaders find out what it means to have to build a real leadership team.Today, I'm talking about the four leadership styles you need on your leadership team to truly be able to scale and move out of the whitewater stage.

Can A Synergist Be Saved?
Can you utilize physical touch in therapy? How does physical touch help an anxious patient to remain in the present moment? What are the ethics behind using physical touch in session? MEET JOAN BROOKSAt the end of a day-long workshop with Ilana Rubenfeld in 1997, Joan knew that not only would this be the work she'd do for the rest of her life, she also knew in my bones that she would one day teach this work to others. As a lifeline learner, Joan has continued to hone and deepen her skills as both Synergist and teacher. I have devoted my life to helping others heal from the wounds and trauma of life. Today, in her private practice, Joan primarily helps women who have experienced sexual trauma heal so they can step into their full power and take their rightful place in the world. Activate Your Clients' Inner Healing Wisdom! https://yourbodyisyourbestfriend.com/ (Click here for your free gift.) IN THIS PODCAST:Can you introduce physical touch into counseling sessions? How to introduce physical touch Ethics of touch CAN YOU INTRODUCE PHYSICAL TOUCH INTO COUNSELING SESSIONS?The first thing to do is to educate your client about what touch is. You can do this via virtual therapy as well because you can describe and show your clients what it is that you want them to do. Educate them about what you mean by touch. I describe … in the guide the soft, full contact … it's very soft and I'm not applying any pressure, and help the client be able to listen to the body and to start with physical sensation. That's usually the easiest thing for people to be able to do when they first make contact with their body … to be aware of the physical sensations. (Joan Brooks) Help your clients be aware of their bodies. Ask them: Is there a message your heart wants to give you? Is there a message you want to give your heart? This opens a dialogue up to the client interacting with their body. They can then learn to see their body as an entity that can store emotion and experiences. It helps the client to practice empathy, awareness, and kindness towards their body instead of seeing it only as a mechanism for living. HOW TO INTRODUCE PHYSICAL TOUCHAsk your clients: Where they feel their anxiety or their emotion in their body, What physical sensations are they feeling? How is their emotion manifesting in their body? I would then ask my client if she would be willing to put her hand or hands there. I would already have talked to her about a full, soft contact, not pressure. We're not kneading it, it's not massage, we're not trying to fix it. What we're doing is listening. (Joan Brooks)Have your client visualize that they have their awareness, love, and attention in their hand, and they are then placing that hand softly on the spot on their body that is currently enduring the anxiety. You want your client to focus on the physical sensation because when they concentrate on the physical sensation, then they are in the present moment, in the here and now. ETHICS OF TOUCHWords can do damage and yet as therapists we're … taught to use words in a way that's not harmful, in a way that is helpful rather than harmful. So, the same is true of touch, and the benefits of touch are so tremendous. (Joan Brooks)Touch builds, enhances, and maintains the therapeutic alliance because it is a method of communicating the therapist's intention and presence through touch. It enhances the client outcomes. The client is a full participant in the session because touch calls on the body to be a part of the client's healing. The most effective way to contact innate healing is through touch, although touch needs to be done with training and consciousness. With proper training, touch can be a huge benefit for therapy, but it needs to be spoken about and taken seriously and openly. Connect With
Metaphysical intellect as a function of the eternal omniscient mind's self regenerating patterning integrities consciously considers Universe. Thought considers Universe. The disorder is entropic. Before Synergetics was discovered by R. Buckminster Fuller in the Twentieth Century, humans of a mind, our evolution species, did not know of nature's coordinate system. Therefore, showing how we may geometrically and topologically measure our experiences was left out of the information gathering, local problem solving process. Measuring our experiences was not an anticipatory expectation. So the coordination of the measured information experience was not necessarily relevant to the interrelationships between order and disorder. "I can raise a million dollars in ten minutes." These were the words the ladies of The Synergist and myself heard as we listened, intently, to everything The Most Powerful Woman in the Room had to say. Well, it was a Zoom room, but, alas, this is our new reality. When I finally got the opportunity to tell Lydia Fenet how powerful I found her statement to be and inquired on how she could possibly raise a million dollars in ten minutes, she smiled and said, "I could raise a million dollars in five minutes if you let me." Talk about a Rainmaker. In episode 008 of The Catalyst, our Chief Conversation Curator, Audrey Dilgarde, spoke with the Global Managing Director of Strategic Partnerships and the Lead Benefit Auctioneer at Christie's Auction House, Lydia Fenet, on all things auctioneering and the importance of giving up our fear of hearing the word "no."Lydia Fenet is in a league of her own and we at The Catalyst thank her again for making the time to share her wisdoms and truths. You can listen to more interviews with some of the most interesting and inspiring people around on The Catalyst's website. As part of our few special episodes, we are talking about something that indirectly – yet profoundly – affects our businesses and music careers, and that is different personalities and leadership styles. Sometimes you just click with people and other times you bump heads with members of your team and you find yourself wondering what's going on. The truth is, you need those people in your team. You need people to not only agree with you but to challenge you and stand in for you in those areas where you struggle, and vice versa. We are all wired differently and therefore we bring different things to the table and we need to recognize how our strengths and weaknesses function together to make a well-rounded team. Today Leah shares more about the different types of leaders and also about the relationally inclined synergist who we all need to become more like. We strongly encourage you and your team to do The Synergist quiz to see which kind of leader you are and how you can best work together. This is also a great tool if you're thinking about getting a team together, so be sure to listen in for some really helpful information! Key Points from This Episode: More about The Synergist quiz and the four different leadership styles. Why everybody needs to be a synergist or work at becoming more like one. Why you eventually need each one of the four leaders on your team. Examples of how the different leaders complement one another. A few humorous pointers for visionaries in the workplace. A brief description of each of the natural occurring leadership styles. How the synergist is fundamentally different to the other types of leaders. Playing all the different roles when starting off your business. And much more! Are you a “Visionary” who sees the world from 10,000 feet, eyes on the future? Are you an “Operator” who loves to break down barriers and get stuff done? Maybe you’re a “Processor” who creates frameworks and craves efficiency. Or a “Synergist” able to set your ego aside and pull the team together. According to our guest, Les McKeown, each of these types are essential to building and scaling a successful business, but each is particularly suited to a different stage of a company’s lifecycle. Getting the right balance and working to move your business through its growth stages is key to building Predictable Success. Sponsored links: www.casper.com/fool code fool Harrys.com/fool

They talk together about how they've worked together for the past 8 years and how their different wiring has helped them work together for success. They reference Les McKeown's book The Synergist throughout this episode to describe and define the three different types of people needed to grow a 7-figure business. After being coached by Les, Casey and the team adopted the language to help them better understand how to work together to reach their goals. LINKS Do You Have A Self-Sustaining Business? The “visionary” often has more ideas than they're able to implement and need help accomplishing their dreams and goals. Because they usually start the business, they often think they are the best and have the most to lose. They have a tendency to think they're always right and don't realize how they effect the other people in the organization. Many times, they're losing so fast they leave the rest of the team behind. Without awareness of how they are wired, they will believe everyone thinks the way they do and if they don't, they should. Operator: Renee represents the “operator” who helps the “visionary” DO the work and accomplish their goals. The “operator” is often very flexible, which helps them adapt to the “visionary's” changing direction. An “operator” often needs to receive direction since they don't naturally have a lot of ideas for new direction. As the business is getting started, the “operator” plays an important role to help the “visionary” get it launched and is able to pivot to the necessary changes as they get going. A “visionary” entrepreneur will have a VERY difficult time getting the business off the ground without an “operator”. Processor: Becca represents the “processor” from The Synergist”. Most processors are very organized and process driven. They like things to have order and be systematized. Often times a “processor” doesn't join the team until the business is established and in order for it to continue to grow, there must be systems and processes implemented. The “processor” can be seen as an adversary at first because visionaries and operators have been running the business and the “ rocessor” comes in trying to change how they've been working. But they bring the stability into the business that's necessary to continue growth and enable stability. Transitioning To A Healthy Team To Grow & Scale To get to the next level in the business, the visionary must be able to develop the skills necessary to hire and run a team of people to accomplish their goals. This requires developing the “synergist” skills to relate to others and make decisions that are for the good of the whole company. Systems And Processes To grow the business you must simplify what you're doing and how you're doing it. By implementing systems and processes, you create simplicity which allows you to systematize – systems allow you to scale the business. How to Implement Systems and Processes Hire the right person. You can't expect a visionary or operator to be able to effectively create and run systems in the business. It's not their natural skill set, so you must have a “processor” in place. Use the synergist quiz to look for the right person Determine what are the most important systems you need to create. You must objectively assess the activities of the organization to determine what's working well and what isn't. Systematize the activities around the questions the visionary and operators are asking all the time Key Metrics To Drive The Vision And Provide Clarity Start with the goal or mission and work it backwards, asking, “What will it take for us to reach this goal in the different areas of the business?” Create 2-3 key metrics for each person that will help you reach your mission on a daily/weekly basis Report weekly to keep the metrics visible and provide accountability. Green = on track or have hit goal Yellow = not on track or need help to get beyond a road block Red = didn't hit the goal Focus Of A CEO A CEO must proactively look down the road to anticipate the road blocks and be able to remove them. You have to be able to see what's happening in the company and be able to lead the team based on data not gut. This doesn't happen often in businesses early on, but the entrepreneur must be able to make this transition.

Join us for an even bigger, girthier part two! As we know, Final Fantasy XIII is the start of the Fabula Nova Crystallis collection of Final Fantasy games, and was the first game Square used their internally developed Crystal Tools game engine with. This tool was created to further unify the game’s development, and bring the originally PlayStation 3 exclusive to the Xbox 360 and Wii consoles. This system was conceived by the success of the Final Fantasy VII Tech Demo, which also spurred Square Enix to release Final Fantasy XIII on the PlayStation 3, instead of the originally planned release on Playstation 2. The game received received mostly positive reviews from video game publications, praising the graphics, presentation, and battle system. The story received mixed reviews, but the linearity would be the centerpiece of most criticisms for Final Fantasy XIII, especially when compared to the rest of the series. Development for Final Fantasy XIII began in 2004, just after the Release of Final Fantasy X-2 International + Last Mission in Japan. Director Motomu Toriyama and Kazushige Nojima conceived ideas for the stories plotline over the first year. It was Nojima that thought up the crystal mythology that is the basis of the series, and the roles of the fal’Cie and l’Cie. Toriyama then created the story around the mythology. His goal was to show the characters at the mercy of a predetermined, unjust fate. He also wanted to create a group who belonged together, but clashed heavily. To go about this, they designed each of the sory’s thirteen chapters to focus on different members of the party. The structure of the narrative started to come together in 2006, when Daisuke Watanabe joined the team. Watanabe, as you may recall, filled in for Matsuno left the Final Fantasy XII development team due to sickness. Watanabe was given a rough outline of the first eight chapters, including necessary scenes that had to stay, and was told to strengthen Toriyama’s script. An example of what this entailed, is he would get a document that simply said “Snow and Hope reconcile”, and would decide how the scene would play out, and write his scenario accordingly. Watanabe also did some adjusting for characters. He felt that Lightning shouldn’t be a reliable and calm leader, and went with the more irritable, enraged Lightning we know. This was done to capture the confusion and unease that the characters no doubt would feel in light of their situations. Toriyama felt that the Sazh suicide scene was too dark, so elements such as the Chocobo chick helped maintain a good balance within the games overall scope. The developers of Final Fantasy XIII were divided into multiple teams, where each team would be assigned with a specific area of the game. XIII’s staff included many members who worked on previous entries in the series. The games Director, Motomu Toriyama worked on X and X-2, Kitase, as we know, worked on V through VIII, and Nomura was back as the main character designer. Since XIII was the first Final Fantasy game for the PlayStation 3, the crew wanted the game to have the same impact that VII and X had upon their release. Their sales goal was to hit 5 million copies sold, and Toriyami wanted the game to be the “ultimate single player RPG.” Although I can’t say that XIII is the Ultimate………..single palyer RPG, It did meet, and exceed, their sales goal. As of now, Final Fantasy XIII has sold 6.71 million copies between the Ps3 and Xbox 360, making it the fourth biggest game in the series. It sold 1.7 Million copies in Japan, making it the fastest selling game in the franchise. The games budget would top out at Number 22 on the most expensive games to make list at 65+ million. Final Fantasy XIII was released in December 2009 in Japan, and March of 2010 for the rest of the world. The game includes a very quick paced battle system, and an upgrading system similar to the Sphere Grid called Crystalarium. Players also customize paradigms, a sort of class assignment for your three person party, and the outcome of the battles heavily rely on the player “staggering” their opponents. This is essentially finding out what weakens them, and getting them into a critical state where more damage is dealt. The character is controlled via a third person perspective. The character is also given a 360 degree camera movement. The entirety of the game is scaled relative to the characters, rather than a massive version of the character roaming a miniature terrain. Square brought back the Bestiary from Final Fatnasy XII, and also provided a way to level up ones weapons through components obtained, or bought at a save kiosk. Interestingly enough, the Final Fantasy XIII Ultimate Hits International version of the game, released in Japan, has an easy mode. This is interesting, because the company has talked about being concerned that their games are too difficult for us North Americans. The battle system is similar to Final Fantasy XII in some ways. Most noticeably in that the character can approach or avoid enemies in the field. When the player touches an enemy, the screen transitions from the map to a battle screen similar to ones from previous entries in the series. XIII also only allows the use of three characters in battle, and uses a variant of Active Time Battle that we’ve all become accustomed to. The part where this game differs the most, is with the secondary characters. The player only controls the party leader, and the other two characters are controlled by AI. There is an extremely useful Autobattle function, where the game will automatically select actions to perform. The game also fully heals characters after a battle is complete. This makes the game sound super easy, right? No. You’re wrong. SO FUCKING WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every enemy has a chain counter. This counter starts at 100, and each enemy has different effects on creatures. Generally, black magic spells will make the chain counter jump very quickly, but the bar will quickly reset if not supplemented with a physical attack, or debuff. Once the meter is filled, the enemy will enter a Stagger state. This form is generally quite susceptible to physical damage, and the player can even launch most enemies into the air, rendering them attackless. These stagger states can be manipulated by assigning Paradigms to your party. Paradigms are used to assign different roles to different characters. The six paradigms are Commando, Ravager, Medic, Saboteur, Sentinel, and Synergist. The Commando deals physical damage, Ravager is designated for black magic, Medics perform healing spells, Saboteurs attack enemies with various debuff spells, such as slow or deprotect, Sentinels raise a parties defence, and Synergists are used to assign buffs to your characters such as protect and haste. These classes can, and in many cases, must be quickly changed throughout battles to quickly defeat enemies. This gives Final Fantasy XIII a refreshingly fast battle system, and also leads to many game overs on non boss enemies. Each character has a specific Eidolon that they can summon in battle. Only the party leader can select this skill, however, so the summoned creature depends on the leader. You can trigger a Gestalt mode for the Eidelons, and they will transform into a vehicle that the player then rides on during battle…..
