Do you feel like people often cut you off when you're talking? When was the last time someone really listened to you? Today, Jay sits down with international keynote speaker and communication coach Vinh Giang for an inspiring conversation about building real confidence and finding your voice. Together, they dive into how the way we speak, and how we feel about speaking, isn’t something we’re born with, but a skill you build through experience, self-awareness, and practice. Vinh breaks down the myth that confident speakers are just born that way. Through his simple “four stages of competence” framework, he explains how with the right tools and consistent practice—anyone can become a powerful communicator, even if you’re naturally shy or introverted. It’s not about changing your personality; it’s about learning to manage your energy and use your voice with intention. Throughout the episode, Vinh shares easy, practical tips, like how to stop people from interrupting you in meetings, how to sound more confident, and how to use your voice to its full potential. One of the most touching parts of the conversation is when Vinh opens up about his father, a refugee who didn’t understand his career choice at first, but later became his biggest supporter. It’s a reminder that communication isn’t just about being heard, it’s also about understanding, connecting, and growing in every part of life. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Move from Shy to Confident with Communication How to Master the Four Stages of Speaking Competence How to Build Self-Awareness with the Record & Review Method How to Boost Vocal Presence and Authority Instantly How to Communicate Effectively as an Introvert How to Reframe “Fake” as “Unfamiliar” When Practicing New Skills Whether you’re a seasoned speaker, a reluctant communicator, or someone simply yearning to be heard, this episode will leave you feeling inspired, equipped, and encouraged to use your voice, not just to speak, but to be seen. Recommend this show by sharing the link: pod.link/2Pages I'm the most amateur of magicians. I have about ten tricks, all of which I learned in ten minutes or less because I need instant magic and instant gratification. However, I've come to realize that there are two types of tricks: one that requires a gimmick to work and one you can perform with whatever's in front of you. Almost all of my tricks are gimmick-based, but the latter is most extraordinary to me - you're able to seize the moment and change the audience's perception of the possible. That's magic. Vinh Giang's passion for magic and self-taught business skills lifted his family out of poverty and into a top tier income bracket. An award-winning entertainer, international speaker, and entrepreneur, he is the co-founder and director of the Encyclopedia of Magic, an online magic school that instructs over 41,000 students per year. Additionally, he is the CEO of Luminary Productions, where he coaches a select few businesses and leaders, teaching them how to compete on an emotional level.Just six months short of completing a degree in accounting, Vinh decided to take a leap of faith and do the scariest thing he could imagine; he told his parents that he was giving up school to pursue a career as a magician and entrepreneur. Needless to say, his father was not happy that his son wanted “to be Harry Potter,” but after three years of hard work, Vinh's magic tutorial website began to take off, winning him the prestigious South Australian Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2013. The business has since joined forces with 52Kards, a leading U.S. based online magic school. Together the two organizations will instruct an estimated half a million students per year.In recent years, Vinh's speaking career has exploded due to his unique ability to seamlessly interweave the principles of magic, business, and success. Pre-pandemic, Vinh spent 80% of his time travelling from continent to continent performing and presenting one-of-a-kind business keynotes about building confidence, boosting presentation skills, facing fears, problem-solving, and pushing limits.During the pandemic, Vinh turned his skillsets to creating online programs for many of his clients, specifically for the company's Learning Management System, with one of his key current clients being Microsoft where Vinh has created an internal communications program. Other key clients of note have been Facebook, Linkedin, Zoom, Merk and many many more.In this episode, Vinh and I touch on his journey from being a MAGICIAN to becoming an International Keynote Speaker, his strong belief in that "life is a miracle" and we should not take it for granted. We also deep-dived into:The story of his familyHis thoughts on entrepreneurship and building a successful brand How to overcome impostor syndrome His definition of great communicationSome tips & tricks on communications and becoming a better communicator Self-Awareness and reflection  And managing FearWhere to find Vinh Giang:LinkedInhttps://www.vinhgiang.com/Join the conversation on Synergy IQ LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram (@synergyiq) and please support other leaders by liking, subscribing and sharing this podcast. Access SynergyIQ Website to get to know more about us. Say hello to our host Daniel Franco on LinkedIn.Books mentioned on this episode:How to Win Friends and Influence People - By Dale CarnegieThe Magic of Thinking Big - By David J SchwartzThe Almanack of Naval Ravikant - A Guide to Wealth and Happiness - By Eric Jorgenson

A bit of an update. I'm working on a few upcoming episodes for #POVinterview but just need a bit more time. But whilst I'm working on this, I wanted to highlight some previous guest who I think will add value especially if you're going through some mental blocks as a #leader or #manager. First-person I wanted to introduce is Aaron Foo, Aaron Foo, Product strategist, author and trainer. What I got out of that conversation was using #empathy to lead and build relationships with your stakeholders in order to build and deliver effectively. The second person is Heidi Dening, she's a speaker, author and educator from Australia. She's had over 21 yrs experience, empowering thousands of individuals, teams & organisations to improve their workplace resilience, leadership resilience & professional resilience. And finally, I wanted to highlight Vinh Giang. He's an internationally renowned keynote speaker, world-class expert communication and professional coach! What I got from our conversation was the ability to think using your voice differently in order to convey an effective message to your audience #wellbeing #leadership #marketing #business #resilience #podcasts

Greetings everyone, my name is Julie Masters and welcome to another episode of Inside Influence. In which I delve into the minds of some of the world’s most fascinating influencers – or experts in influence - to get to the bottom of what it really takes to own your voice - and then amplify it to drive an industry, a conversation, a movement or a nation. In this episode, we journey from mastery to magic decoding the magician's secrets with the incredible Vinh Giang. While it’s fair to say I research all of my guests in great detail, I literally had to pull myself away from the computer as I could have easily lost days in total awe of Vinh's genius. Vinh has a gift for translating the magician's code in a business context. He demystifies the illusions of magic and has created seriously compelling content empowering audiences with the tools to navigate technicality vs performance and craft vs charisma. He is fascinated by the human psychology behind the tricks, the nature of perception, and the art of illusion. He uses these tools as metaphors to unlock the audience's mind to an array of new possibilities. Vinh explores concepts such as timing, practice, skills, connection and of course the influence of the magician over the audience. His ultimate goal whether it is in business or life is to see the possible in the impossible. To feel the magic in the metaphors and to find the solutions that set success in motion. As a speaker, Vinh has partnered with many organisations including globally recognized names such as HSBC, Microsoft, and Gartner. As an innovator, Vinh founded the first online training platform to teach magic, and as a result, was honored to be awarded South Australia Young Entrepreneur. As an awarded magician, he has created magic for audiences all over the world. Growing up in a refugee family Vinh always valued hard work as the road to success, and this attitude is evident in his mission to educate others on the mastery behind the magic and the process behind the perception. During the interview, I was again in sheer awe of Vinhs ability to communicate the impossible to make it possible and could have easily lost hours in conversation. To summarise, we covered off some of the following key points in our discussion... The power of following your passionThe balance between technical skill and performanceThe unwritten agreement to be a master of illusion in magicUnderstanding our vehicle for influenceThe body and voice as our most powerful instrumentHow we hold, keep and control attentionThe power of rate, pitch, and pause when presentingThe sight, sound and synch audit when reviewing our presentationsUnderstanding the voice as the tool to impactWhat is mastery and how is it achievedThe power of perspective in challenging whats possibleWhy magic lives in the unknownWhy talent has nothing to do with successWhy great teachers craft the experience Get ready to soak up tips, tools, and insights from a true master of communication, influence, and performance. Vinh is on a mission to assist others to 'never die with the music still inside', and this podcast is a guide that will allow you to begin to understand your song, your rhythm, and what it takes to master that melody and ultimately create magic in the lives of those with whom you influence. Vinh Giang is an entrepreneur, speaker, and magician who believes you should "Amplify the best parts of who you are".  Vinh's family are refugees from Vietnam. They arrived in Australia in 1981, March 31st. His dad has always shared with him a simple concept - life is a miracle. He used to tell him: "Son, do you know how ridiculous it is that you are alive? If your mother or I died in the war, you wouldn't be here. If your grandparents didn't meet, you wouldn't be here. Heck, lets take it back 50,000 generations. If a cave man ate a poisonous fruit and died, that's our entire bloodline vanished from this earth.. It took millions of years of serendipitous events for you to be here, and now that you are here, you are alive for 80 years on average. When you compare how long it took for you to get here versus how long you are here for.. it's like you are alive for 1 minute. It's a privilege to be alive. In this life of yours, remember to do what you love and jump as high as you can in life. As long as I am alive, I will forever be your net." That right there is why he has achieved the things he has in life and why he has become the man he is today - Family. His drive to jump as high as he can in life comes from his family.  All through Vinh's childhood he watched his family build and grow businesses. They built; farms, grocery stores, take away diners, pharmacies and even commercial property. By the time he hit 13, he had all the entrepreneurial characteristics embedded deep in his soul. It was the year 2000 when eBay first started to become popular, and he remembers buying so many different things from there and selling them to his friends for double the price! Needless to say, he didn't have too many friends. Not only this, he moved schools a total of 4 times. This happened because some of the kids wouldn't pay him after they bought music players from him, and I would then give the bully some money to rough them up a little.  Long story short, he made it to university and studied accounting. With only 6 months left to go in his degree, he came home and told his parents he was going to quit and build a business on the internet to teach magic.... This is when things get really interesting!  His parents supported Vinh.s dreams, and today he has a career teaching magic, communications, owns a video production company , and is one of the most sought after keynote speakers in the world.  Check out this episode as Vinh Giang shares his advice and his own entrepreneurial journey.  http://www.vinhgiang.com

A question that has led him to become young entrepreneur of the year, to teach 900,000 people magic, and rock global stages with his unique presentations, and powerful metaphor. Vinh also covers How he quit university to teach people magic, and went on to create an online program that has 900,000 students. How 'magic' helps you resolve complex problems. Magic is 'a problem you can't solve'; business is also about solving problems. To solve problems, it is critical to take on different perspectives. Those perspectives can come from different people, and different fields. If you stay in your own environment, your mind closes, and that's dangerous for business. Why you should meet with someone from a different background from you every couple of weeks. "You are a different person at different phases of your life, stop trying to hang onto the old version of you" Adam Cheyer Our old friendship groups may have in interest in holding you where you are, but, we are designed to evolve If you're feeling a lot of emotion brewing inside of you, it could be the cue that it is time to start a new chapter in your life – evolve –don't get stuck on chapter 1. Be able to say 'sorry, I can't help'. The fact that you are alive is a MIRACLE! If your life is a minute long, you may only have 20 or 30 seconds remaining right now. Make sure you do what you LOVE not what you think you SHOULD. Life Changing Question: 'If you are only here for 1 minute in your life time, and you have lived 20 seconds already, what are you going to do with the remaining 40 seconds?' On average we live 80 years, do what you LOVE. Doing what you LOVE brings JOY, JOY is infectious to others Life Changing Question 2: 'How do you do that?' Always ask this when you see someone doing what you want to do. It is a humanizing question, and if the person you ask is living in abundance, they'll tell you. Vinh's bucket list item is to unveil the iPhone 10 for Apple! "It is amazing what you can happen for you if you take the chance and bet on yourself" Vinh Giang Resources Mentioned in this show: https://www.facebook.com/askvinh/ https://52kards.com/ http://vinhgiang.com.au/ Adam Cheyer– creator of Siri.

At the age of 22, Vinh Giang decided not fulfill the Asian prophecy and become an accountant, so he took a slightly different path and pursued a career as a magician. Since then he’s won multiple awards for magic shows, he’s a successful international keynote speaker and runs a video production company in Australia called Luminary. Being a magician, speaker, and a director all have one thing in common – Storytelling. And that’s his greatest passion in life. In this episode, we talk about how everyone in the office first found out he did magic and how bringing that to the office brought a breath of fresh air to an otherwise dull environment. And Vinh discusses how he hated work because he realized his "work self" was different than his "real self", so he was so relieved to be able to bring some of that to work and make it more fun. We also talk about how professionals should be more like performers, having opening and closing jokes or stories that break down the barriers professionalism has built. Vinh Giang is the CEO and Director at Luminary Productions and an International Keynote Speaker, using magic to deliver his message. Prior to that, he worked at a small accounting firm in Adelaide, Australia. He studied accounting at the University of Adelaide, Australia.

This is an incredible episode with Vinh Giang. An entrepreneur, entertainer, coach and presenter. We dive in to Vinh having tough life choices at a young age. Choices we all may see as easy. However they are some of the most important decisions we ever make. I'm talking about the choice to follow our passion or choose to do what the rest of the world is telling us is the best choice. Vinh dropped out of college at a time when we he was 1 semester away from graduating. Doing this to follow his passion of magic and entertaining on a world class stage. We talk about how he masters it through years of hard work. What's different about Vihn, is he used the fundamentals of what he does with magic to teaching, coaching and presenting to businesses across the world. "Adversity is your greatest competitive advantage," reads a quote on Vinh's website. While he's now earning up to $15,000 an hour on the global speakers circuit, it could've been very different. Vinh's family escaped the Viet Cong on treacherous waters and arrived in Australia as Vietnamese refugees. The family struggled to make ends meet in the Northern suburbs of Adelaide, selling whatever they could to survive. After hearing his mum pleading for money to put him through school, Vinh began looking for ways to make fast money. He bought and sold goods to school mates, and paid bullies to keep debtors in check. Against the odds, he got within six months of completing an accounting degree before a "life saving" conversation with a firm partner led to Vinh dropping out to pursue magic. That conversation set Vinh on a path to greatness, as a magician, online business owner and keynote speaker sought after worldwide. This is a fascinating and inspirational story with important insights for personal development, business, performance and life. The Moment HQ sits down with Magician, Speaker and Entrepreneur, Vinh Giang. Sign up to our newsletter via our website www.themomenthq.com to receive regular podcast updates, blogs and news from The Moment HQ. “If you focus long enough on the things you cannot control in life, you will completely lose control on the things you DO have control over. Be the best you can be. And the only person you compete against is you.” - Vinh Giang, The Moment Podcast Such beautiful words of wisdom from Vinh Giang. These words are such a great reminder to us all to keep our attention on ourselves, to focus on the things we can control and the rest, allow them to be and let the moment unfold its magic. This interview has been one of my most favourite interviews of all time…is that putting a huge expectation on it to blow your mind? Maybe. In the hundreds of interviews I have done over the years, it's rare to come across those individuals who truly know themselves, are transparent about their journey and who've found the greatest belief in themselves; a belief that overrides all fear. If you ever doubt yourself, or are not sure about pursuing your dream for whatever reason, this is a must listen interview. Vinh is inspiring and his enthusiasm for encouraging others to “feel alive” will honestly have you connecting to a love, passion and aliveness within your soul. He doesn't claim to know it all, nor does he tell you what to do rather, Vinh opens your mind to realise the impossible is possible. We chat about FOLLOWING YOUR TRUTH, BELIEVING IN YOURSELF and DOING THE IMPOSSIBLE. Learn about: What it takes to pursue your dream How to connect to what you love Realise what it is to overcome the impossible What differentiates the great from the average How he connects to the moment How to build your communication skills And find out: What moves him? What Vinh is scared of? What he would pursue as a profession if he wasn't a magician/speaker? And what he believes his greatest asset is. “I have the most foolish and crazy dreams. And having these crazy dreams, I achieve them.” www.themomenthq.com
