Introduction: Who Are the "Meek"? (Matthew 5:5) Forsaking all Self-interest to the Will of God for the Sake of others . Philippians 2:3-8 - Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Why Are We Congratulating the Meek? How Do I Cultivate Meekness? (Psalm 37:1-11) You Don't Fret over the wicked or the state of the world. You Wholly Depend on God to Deal with Wrongdoers . You Wholly Depend on God for Vindication . You Ask God to remember those opposed to you. You Pray for pportunities to be Trained and Tested . Congratulations to the poor in spirit, you have the kingdom of heaven! Welcome to Day 2258 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Wisdom Nuggets – Proverbs 17:1-7 – Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2258 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2258 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. In today's Wisdom Nugget, I will guide you through the vast landscapes of biblical wisdom. It's a joy to have you join me on this journey. Today, our exploration takes us into the insightful verses of Proverbs 17:1-7 from the New Living Translation. Pause… As we delve into these verses, let's seek the timeless wisdom that can guide us in building strong relationships, managing conflicts, and cultivating a wise and discerning heart. Without further delay, it's time to strap up your hiking boots and head into the wisdom of Proverbs. Verse 1: “Better a dry crust eaten in peace than a house filled with feasting—and conflict.” This verse sets the tone for our exploration, emphasizing the value of peace over abundance, especially when it comes with conflict. So, what's the solution to fostering peace in our relationships, even when resources are limited? Prioritize Peace in Relationships: Recognize the greater value of peace over abundance. Prioritize cultivating peace in your relationships, even if it means simplicity in material possessions. Pause… Now, let's explore verse 2. “A wise servant will rule over the master's disgraceful son and will share the inheritance of the master's children.” This verse presents a scenario where a wise servant is elevated to a position of authority over the master's disgraceful son. How can we apply this wisdom in our lives? Value Wisdom Over Status: Recognize the superiority of wisdom over status. Cultivate a heart of wisdom and seek to make decisions based on discernment rather than societal expectations. Pause… Verse 3 speaks to the refining nature of fire and its application to our lives. “Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the Lord tests the heart.” This verse draws a parallel between the refining process of fire on precious metals and the Lord's testing of the human heart. How can we navigate the testing and refining of our hearts? Embrace Heart Refinement: Recognize that just as fire tests the purity of silver and gold, the Lord tests the heart. Embrace the refinement process, allowing challenges and testing to shape and purify your heart. Pause… Now, let's explore verse 4. “Wrongdoers eagerly listen to gossip; liars pay close attention to slander.” This verse highlights the association between wrongdoers and their inclination to listen to gossip, as well as the attentiveness of liars to slander. How can we guard ourselves against the destructive nature of gossip and slander? Guard Against Destructive Words: Recognize the association between wrongdoers and destructive words. Guard yourself against the allure of gossip and slander, choosing to focus on uplifting and truthful communication....

Psalm 37:19-40 New International Version (NIV) 19 In times of disaster they will not wither;     in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. 20 But the wicked will perish:     Though the Lord's enemies are like the flowers of the field,     they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke. 21 The wicked borrow and do not repay,     but the righteous give generously; 22 those the Lord blesses will inherit the land,     but those he curses will be destroyed. 23 The Lord makes firm the steps     of the one who delights in him; 24 though he may stumble, he will not fall,     for the Lord upholds him with his hand. 25 I was young and now I am old,     yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken     or their children begging bread. 26 They are always generous and lend freely;     their children will be a blessing.[a] 27 Turn from evil and do good;     then you will dwell in the land forever. 28 For the Lord loves the just     and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed[b];     the offspring of the wicked will perish. 29 The righteous will inherit the land     and dwell in it forever. 30 The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,     and their tongues speak what is just. 31 The law of their God is in their hearts;     their feet do not slip. 32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous,     intent on putting them to death; 33 but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked     or let them be condemned when brought to trial. 34 Hope in the Lord     and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land;     when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it. 35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man     flourishing like a luxuriant native tree, 36 but he soon passed away and was no more;     though I looked for him, he could not be found. 37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright;     a future awaits those who seek peace.[c] 38 But all sinners will be destroyed;     there will be no future[d] for the wicked. 39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;     he is their stronghold in time of trouble. 40 The Lord helps them and delivers them;     he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,     because they take refuge in him.

I'm Adam McManus.  (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Children in Niger, Africa brutalized by Muslim jihadists Children bear the brunt of the devastating impact of Muslim Jihadism in Niger, Africa. They face the dual horrors of being targeted and killed, as well as being recruited and displaced from their homes, reports International Christian Concern. Matt Wells, Amnesty International's Crisis Response Deputy Director, said, “In Niger's Tillabéri region, an entire generation is growing up surrounded by death and destruction. Armed groups have repeatedly attacked schools and food reserves and are targeting children for recruitment.” Radicalized Islamic groups are plaguing the Sahel region in Africa, a land mass 620 miles wide and 3,360 miles long which runs from the Atlantic Ocean on the West Coast to the Red Sea on the East Coast. Muslims are attempting to establish a caliphate in the region and frequently target Christians in their attacks.  Please pray for the salvation of those who persecute the church that they would repent of their sin and trust Christ as their Savior.  And pray that God would comfort and strengthen the children who are targeted. Psalm 37:27-29 says, “Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake His faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish. The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever." JEAN-PIERRE: “Where this was discovered is a heavily traveled area where many White House, West Wing, I should be even more specific, of West Wing visitors come through this particular area. The Secret Service is investigating this.” Donald Trump asked, "Does anybody really believe that the COCAINE found in the West Wing of the White House, very close to the Oval Office, is for the use of anyone other than Hunter & Joe Biden?" The Washington Examiner reported, “It has been widely speculated that the president's son Hunter Biden, who has had a history of cocaine addiction, may have been involved. He was seen on Friday headed to Camp David with his father for the second weekend in a row and celebrated the Fourth of July on Tuesday with his family at the White House.” DeSantis raised $150 million in first quarter On Thursday, Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis' campaign for president announced strong fundraising results. He raised $20 million in his first six weeks, reports The Epoch Times.  That trumps Donald Trump's total of $18.3 million raised during the same time period. In addition, DeSantis' independent Super PAC, Never Back Down, raised $130 million since launching in early March. Arizona Attorney General refuses to enforce pro-life laws Arizona Democrat Attorney General Kris Mayes declared Monday that she will not enforce pro-life laws in the Grand Canyon state. She has been empowered to ignore abortion measures she disagrees with by left-wing Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs, reports LifeSiteNews. During an interview with Capitol Media Services, Mayes said that she is taking all prosecutorial power over abortion-related cases away from Arizona's 15 county attorneys and reserving it for herself, under the authority given her by an executive order Hobbs signed last week, which in turn cites a state law granting the state attorney general “supervisory powers” over county attorneys. That statute does not explicitly allow for prosecutors to be barred from acting on entire categories of offenses, but Hobbs and Mayes have interpreted it as doing just that. No one should be surprised by Democrat Attorney General Kris Mayes' refusal to enforce pro-life laws.  After all, her candidacy was endorsed by both Planned Parenthood of Arizona and National Abortion Rights Action League. Arizona's top law enforcement official is blatantly ignoring the wise counsel of Proverbs 31:8. “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” College student gets an “F” for citing “biological women” University of Cincinnati Professor Melanie Nipper gave her student, Olivia Krolczyk, a big fat “F” because she dared to use the term “biological women” in her class assignment about trans athletes, reports The Cincinnati Enquirer.   The student went on TikTok to complain. KROLCZYK: “I got a zero on a project proposal in my class because I used the term ‘biological women' which apparently is not allowed anymore. She even said it was a good project proposal, but I got a zero because I used this term that's exclusionary and not allowed anymore.” The teacher was rightly reprimanded by the University of Cincinnati administration. Unfortunately, after getting woke pushback, the college foolishly rescinded the reprimand, claiming it was "issued in error." Margaret Hanson, the College of Arts and Sciences interim dean, said the reprimand was removed from Professor Nipper's file, according to an email sent to Nipper on June 29th. Second, the final victory is in Christ.” Jeff V.  in Beaverton, Oregon wrote, “I like how biblical responses are included with news stories.  But most of all, I like how homosexuality is described for what it is, terms like ‘faux homosexual wedding' or ‘sexually perverted lifestyles.'  This portrayal surely is considered hate speech by some, but true nonetheless.  Reading these accounts is like a breath of fresh air.” And Carrie Lee in San Jose, California wrote, “After hearing my first episode of The Worldview about a year ago, I knew I had to make it a part of my daily routine.  Much of the news presented here I don't hear anywhere else.  I share some of what I hear with my young son who was shocked to hear about Christian persecution in the world.  I also appreciate the compact length which makes it easy to slip into my day right after devotionals.  Thank you for your important work.” In addition to what you appreciate about this unique newscast, please tell me when and where you listen to The Worldview.  While you're at the breakfast table, driving in the car, or doing chores?  Email me at Adam@TheWorldview.com and include your full name, city and state, or country if outside America. 17 Worldview listeners gave $2,675 Toward our immediate goal of $20,000 by 12 midnight tonight to provide the resources to keep the newscast going another year, 17 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate.  That's a record so far this week. Denmark is one of the least corrupt countries in the world. Gert Tinggard Svendsen of Aarhus University explains how Danes routinely hold each other to account for their actions so that political corruption is not tolerated. Wrongdoers find themselves outcast from Danish society, which acts as a powerful incentive to do the right thing. With Ros Taylor. “If you lie in Denmark, your reputation will be severely damaged. There's no way back. You really have to do something extraordinary to compensate.” “There's a saying, if two Danes meet they shake hands, if three Danes meet they form an association.” “The reason why many countries are poor is because they're corrupt.” Gert Tinggard Svendsen is the author of Trust (Aarhus University). https://www.patreon.com/bunkercast Written and presented by Ros Taylor. Thought for January 20th 'be not envious of wrongdoers ' Psalm 37

Christadelphians Talk

The world today puts a great lot of effort and money into marketing goods and services. The internet, radio, TV, newspapers magazines and sign boards are full of promotions of one kind of thing or another. A fundamental aim of the majority of this promotion is to make us envious of what other people have or experience – the aim is to make us want it ourselves! Now David's Psalm (No. 37) today is very special, it is full of spiritual advice to those who aim to live in a godly way in contrast to the attitudes in our world of 2021. David says, “I have been young and now I am old” [v.25] so these are words of reflection at the latter end of his life. He starts by saying [v.1] “be not envious of wrongdoers” because they, like the grass, have no future. In another Psalm we read, “I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked” [73 v.3] So David had to learn the right attitudes in his life's experiences, like we do. But it is not just a matter of avoiding doing wrong, or not being envious of the successful: note what David also says in today's Psalm, “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way” [v.7] It is a real challenge to “be still” in the sense that is meant here – in a world that is so active in experiencing and doing everything possible – it is a hyperactive society today. How much are you being swept along by it? ! Is it affecting you sub-consciously? The awareness the Lord gives David, leads him to see a time when “the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace” [v.11] Our Lord Jesus repeats this and applies it to inheriting the entire earth! [Matt. 5 v.5] We need this awareness, if we are to effectively counteract temptations to take part in as much of this world's spirit of living – without actually engaging in wrongdoing. David says, “the Lord laughs (mocks) at the wicked for he sees that his day is coming” [v.13]. Now note v.30 & 31, “The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom and his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.” An essential foundation for that kind of thinking and living is achieved today by those who regularly read the word of God, and really think about what they read: May that include all who are reading this. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/christadelphians-talk/message

Treasonous abuse by Congress in the 11th hour. Wrongdoers must pay a price! Citizens are feeling more direct pain in their way of life. Things regrettably need to get a bit worse before they get better. The $1.7 Trillion budget barely addresses our nation's illegal border invasion and the fentanyl coming in. Please read my proposed Balance Budget Amendment. This is the 8th Amendment in “Gene's 2nd Bill of Rights”. This amendment is a solution to the dysfunction and bad behavior by Congress in managing our nation's budget. Do we have enough ‘honest brokers' in Congress ready to remedy this budget process? Over 200 years ago when we separated from hostile British rule, things had to get worse before they got better. Ignoring the truth when it is unbearable is not a solution! People are going to feel more direct pain before we turn this nation back in a positive direction. Illegal migrants are entering the sanctuary cities nationwide. Did we get what we deserve? Are we still asleep or will we wake up and impose rules to address bad behavior? We must remain vigilant and show gratitude for all that is good in our nation. Let's remain proud, vigilant, and hopeful. Originally Aired: WMXI Radio on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 7:15am CSTSeason 1, Episode 79WMXI Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/NewsRadio981Want More Interviews and TruthCasts? Thundering Legion Podcast: Armed Forces Members United In Christ

https://linktr.ee/thunderinglegion Big Question: Can War Be Just? Today we will wrestle with the morality of warfare. On episode 3, we wrestled with the question “should Christians be in the armed forces?” which dealt with how a citizen of God's kingdom can also be a citizen of a nation, agent of that nation's armed forces, and bear the sword for that nation (reference Romans 13:4). This episode wrestled with these questions on an individual/tactical level. So as we move up into the operational/strategic level, how do we think about warfare? Today we will wrestle with the question “Can any war be just?” Ecclesiastes chapter 3 says “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens… a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.” The Bible takes a practical view of our sin fallen world, although the general arc of the Bible moves towards peace in the culmination of the person of Jesus (reference Truth Over Tribe series linked in Episode 3 show notes) Ancient philosophers from Egypt, China, India, Greece, and Rome wrestled with ethics of warfare. These schools of thought likely impacted later thinking on ethics of war. “Christian theory of the Just War begins around the time of Augustine of Hippo. The Just War theory, with some amendments, is still used by Christians today as a guide to whether or not a war can be justified.” Wikipedia First off, how does our culture define is justice? Marriem-Webster  “the maintenance or administration of what is just especially by the impartial adjustment of conflicting claims  the quality of being just, impartial, or fair.    Just War Theory On one side lies pacifism.  There is no such thing as a just war.  War is never justified, therefore we should never choose to engage in war.  Pacifism fails to address human nature, which is inherently sinful, and humans are bound to fall into conflict from their sinfulness. On the other side is militarism/nationalism.  This position would argue that war is simply a tool to use as a nation, whenever the benefits of war outweigh the cause.  I'd argue that Nazi Germany and Switzerland both practice this war theory. In the middle is Just War Theory. How does the Bible define justice? Isaiah 51:5 “My righteousness draws near speedily, my salvation is on the way, and my arm will bring justice to the nations.”  Psalm 37:27-29 “Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed ; the offspring of the wicked will perish. The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.”  Leviticus 19:15 “Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly.”  Zechariah 7:9 “This is what the LORD Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.'” Isaiah 1:17 “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed.Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”  Christian scholars agree that, to be considered just, a war must meet several jus ad bellum requirements. The four most important conditions are:  (1) the war must be declared openly by a proper sovereign authority (e.g., the governing authority of the political community in question);  (2) the war must have a just cause (e.g., defense of the common good or a response to grave injustice);  (3) the warring state must have just intentions (i.e., it must wage the war for justice rather than for self-interest); and  (4) the aim of the war must be the establishment of a just peace.  Since the end of World War II it has become customary to add three other conditions:  (1) there must be a reasonable chance of success;  (2) force must be used as a last resort; and  (3) the expected benefits of war must outweigh its anticipated costs. Not every nation subscribes to Just War Theory, and countries often sidestep it when it conflicts with their military objectives. One challenge to Just War Theory is that the criteria are too vague and easily twisted/rationalized. But we as Christians believe that God will judge everyone according to the motives of their hearts. Hebrews 10:30 says “For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”” Example: Putin has justified the invasion of Ukraine as self-defense of Russia, but these claims have been widely condemned by the UN and internationally. Lots of talk on war crimes in the news lately Russians have been accused of committing war crimes and atrocities in Ukraine lately. What is a War Crime?  Britannica Just war theory led to formation of international law and rules of engagement. Examples include the United Nations, Geneva Conventions, Hague Convention, and Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC). Three principles established by the conventions generally govern conduct during war:  (1) targets should include only combatants and legitimate military and industrial complexes;  (2) combatants should not use unjust methods or weapons (e.g., torture and genocide); and (3) the force used should be proportionate to the end sought. How do we respond when we are persecuted by those who walk upon justice and persecute truth? Proverbs 25: 21-22, 26: “If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you… Like a muddied spring or a polluted well are the righteous who give way to the wicked.” Matthew 5:38-39 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.”  1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.” Conclusion: Reflection questions to leave you with How do we as Christians act to provide justice on earth, while also trusting in the Lord to provide ultimate justice?  How does our response to and use of violence look different in our private, individual life and in our service as armed forces members? How can we mimic the selfless love and sacrifice of Christ in how we confront injustice? REFLECT: What does this episode reveal about God's character? How does this episode cause us to see our need for a Savior?  How can we apply lessons learned from this episode to our life? Follow Christ for this day! ✝️ “Choose this day whom you will serve...” ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭24‬:‭15‬ ‭✝️ “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬  Next steps: SHARE with another armed forces member FOLLOW Instagram, Facebook, Podcast https://linktr.ee/thunderinglegion

Welcome to Day 2026 of  Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom The Book of Proverbs – Chapter 17 – Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2026 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2026 of our Trek. Establishing good habits is imperative for living a Godly life and one habit I have practiced nearly every day for the past 45+ years of my adult life is to read the chapter in the book of Proverbs that corresponds to the day of the month. This single habit has been the catalyst for gaining wisdom and creating a living legacy. Adopting this habit can do the same for your life. The realization that God's Wisdom is the only true wisdom drives me to seek God's wisdom each day, and there is no better way to do this than to meditate on God's book of Wisdom. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Today I will read Proverbs 17. The Book of Proverbs - Chapter 17  17 Better a dry crust eaten in peace than a house filled with feasting—and conflict. 2 A wise servant will rule over the master's disgraceful son and will share the inheritance of the master's children. 3 Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the Lord tests the heart. 4 Wrongdoers eagerly listen to gossip; liars pay close attention to slander. 5 Those who mock the poor insult their Maker; those who rejoice at the misfortune of others will be punished. 6 Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+17&version=NLT#fen-NLT-16856a (a)] are the pride of their children. 7 Eloquent words are not fitting for a fool; even less are lies fitting for a ruler. 8 A bribe is like a lucky charm; whoever gives one will prosper! 9 Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends. 10 A single rebuke does more for a person of understanding than a hundred lashes on the back of a fool. 11 Evil people are eager for rebellion, but they will be severely punished. 12 It is safer to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than to confront a fool caught in foolishness. 13 If you repay good with evil, evil will never leave your house. 14 Starting a quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so stop before a dispute breaks out. 15 Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent— both are detestable to the Lord. 16 It is senseless to pay to educate a fool, since he has no heart for learning. 17 A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need. 18 It's poor judgment to guarantee another person's debt or put up security for a friend. 19 Anyone who loves to quarrel loves sin; anyone who trusts in high walls invites disaster. 20 The crooked heart will not prosper; the lying tongue tumbles into trouble. 21 It is painful to be the parent of a fool; there is no joy for the father of a rebel. 22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. 23 The wicked take secret bribes to pervert the course of justice. 24 Sensible people keep their eyes glued on wisdom, but a fool's eyes wander to the ends of the earth. 25 Foolish children[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+17&version=NLT#fen-NLT-16875b (b)] bring grief to their father and bitterness to the one who gave them birth. 26 It is wrong to punish the godly for being good or to flog leaders for being honest. 27 A truly wise person uses few words; a person with understanding is even-tempered. 28 Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent.   Today, as you ponder Proverbs 17, please encourage your friends and family to join us and come along tomorrow...

Justification is to be Made Right through Correction

Sabbath School Q3 2022: In the Crucible With Christ - Week 7 In this week's study, we take a look at correction. Correction, or  discipline, helps us go from wrong to right.   Basically, justification is to be made right, according to the parallelisms of Romans 5. And how do we receive that gift of justification? Through the graciousness of correction or discipline. How else are we going to be made right? Wrongdoers who believe in Christ are still wrongdoers. The whole idea of being able to continue in sin, or wrongdoing, after justification is not substantiated in scripture or the writings of Ellen White. Ellen White said that "The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." (COL 316). Correction, which is education, is the key to becoming righteous. Correction is to be righted so we can give up our wrong. Righteousness is acting on ideas that are correct, or true. Unrighteousness is wrong doing, or acting on ideas that are false. THE THESIS: The Lord has refused to let the technocrats hide from us their evil. I suspect the Lord is giving us yet another way to reach the world, as we show we walk fearlessly in truth, while so many cower in the fear of the technocrat lies.  THE SCRIPTURE & SCRIPTURAL RESOURCES:  Psalm 37:12-40 12 The wicked plot against the righteous     and gnash their teeth at them; 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,     for he knows their day is coming. 14 The wicked draw the sword     and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy,     to slay those whose ways are upright. 15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,     and their bows will be broken. 16 Better the little that the righteous have     than the wealth of many wicked; 17 for the power of the wicked will be broken,     but the Lord upholds the righteous. 18 The blameless spend their days under the Lord's care,     and their inheritance will endure forever. 19 In times of disaster they will not wither;     in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. THE NEWS & COMMENT: The Lord has refused to let the technocrats hide what they have done and what they continue to do to people. I hope we can take time to thank God for letting us see what's happening, even as our neighbors are binded.  It started as a massive fraud  NIH admits US funded gain-of-function in Wuhan — despite Fauci's denials … and is now a murderous fraud.  AstraZeneca widow strikes out at the mainstream media… The Figurehead was supposed to say the US is donating 1 million doses of Pfizer's so-called “vaccine . . .” [AUDIO] - Figurehead Biden says's HE is donating one million doses of the Pfizer mRNA to West Bank and Gaza . . . what dementia Joe actually said is more truth--”we are donating Covid 19 to the Palestians …” Yes, we are! FINALLY, actual doctors and scientists are leaving the criminal N.I.H. Chapter 10 of the Quran, entitled Jonah was revealed in Mecca. It takes its title from the reference to Prophet Jonah in verse 98 and concentrates primarily on the Oneness of God.  This chapter emphasises God's power and His anger towards those who consistently deny the truth of His revelations and signs. Prophet Muhammad is encouraged to be patient and to be aware that he is unable to force the people to believe.Verses 1 – 10  A book of wisdomThese are the verses from a wise book says God. It is a book full of wisdom that holds the decision about all matters. Why then do people call the warner chosen from among themselves a sorcerer? God is the One who created all that is in the heavens and the earth in six periods of time (Day is the word used here but it is not the 24 hour period as we know it). He then established Himself upon the Throne, overseeing and overlooking everything that is below Him. Worship Him, believers will be rewarded but those who refuse will taste the punishment. His signs are everywhere throughout the universe and they are not without purpose. Those who believe understand. Some pay no heed to the signs but their eternal home will be in the Fire. However those who are saved because of their faith will praise God.Verses 11 – 20  Who is the most wicked? If God was to hasten the punishment for those who deserve it, then their worldly life would be over but that is not His way. Instead he leaves the wrongdoers to wonder blindly in their ignorance. When a person is in need he calls out to God but when God removes the affliction he (the person) returns to disobedience as if he had never called upon God at all. Whole generations have been destroyed because of the evil they did. The messengers came but were ignored and abused. God observes the successive generations. When the Quran is recited to those who hold no hope of meeting God they ask Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessing of God be upon him, to bring a different or changed Quran. God tells Prophet Muhammad to tell them that it is not for him to change it.  He (Prophet Muhammad) brings only what is revealed to him and he too fears a day of account. God asks who is more wicked than the one who invents lies against God or denies His signs!? Wrongdoers will never prosper. They worship things other than God that cannot harm or benefit them. God is far above those they associate with Him.  Humankind was once one nation, but they differed. Only God knows the unseen, so wait for it to be revealed.Verses 21 – 30 God invites you to ParadisePeople call upon God when they are suffering but plot and scheme against Him when they are returned to comfort. When they are returned to God He will tell them the result of the schemes. People think they have some power over the life of this world but it is God's decree that will come to pass. The signs are there for those who choose to reflect. God invites everyone to the Home of Peace (Paradise) and guides whomever He wills to the straight path. Those who do good will have a good reward; they are the companions of Paradise. And those who do evil will find an evil outcome in the Fire. On the Day of Judgment, those who worshipped other than God will find that their false deities deny all knowledge of their worship and behavior. Some are not even aware that they are being worshipped and those who consented to be worshipped will lie and deny it.Verses 31 – 40  Who will believe?God addresses the disbelievers asking who provides for you, who allows you to see and hear, who brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living and who arranges every matter? They answer God but why then do they not take heed? God is the Giver of life, the one who can end creation but then bring it all back again. Can any of the associates you turn to do that? No they cannot. What is wrong with people? The One who guides to the truth is more worthy to be followed then those who do not.God is All-Knowing and it is not possible for this Quran to have been produced by anyone but God. It is a confirmation of what came before it. If people say that Prophet Muhammad invented the Quran then ask them to bring forth a chapter like it. They are not able to do so even when they ask for assistance. They cannot grasp the truth because they have not seen its prophecies fulfilled. The Quran shows the end waiting for the disbelievers. Some will believe but some will not. God knows who causes corruption.Verses 41 – 56 Losers in the HereafterGod tells Prophet Muhammad what to say if they deny him - "For me are my deeds, and for you are your deeds. You are disassociated from what I do, and I am disassociated from what you do."  There are some that listen but Muhammad cannot cause the deaf to hear, there are some who look but he cannot cause the blind to see. God does not wrong people but people wrong themselves. On the Day of Judgement people will feel as if they have been in this world for an hour or less and they will recognise one another. Those who denied this meeting will be the losers. All will return to God and this will happen whether Prophet Muhammad sees the punishment fall or not. For every nation there is a messenger. When the messenger comes they will be judged and there will be no injustice. There is an appointed time for every community and when it is reached it cannot be delayed or hastened. On the Day of Judgement there is no way out for the disbelievers. They have denied it for so long, will they even believe it when it overtakes them? They will be told to taste the punishment, God's promise is true. He gives life, and causes death. To Him we will all be returned.Verses 57 – 60 Guidance has comeInstruction from God has been given to humankind; it is a mercy, a cure, and guidance.  Tell them, Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, that these things are a blessing and better for humankind than all the riches of this world that they try to accumulate.  Ask them to think about the provisions that have been sent down by God.  He has made some lawful and others unlawful, why then do some people change the rules and try to make the illicit permissible? Has God given permission for this or are you inventing a lie about God? How will this be dealt with on the Day of Judgment? Think.  God is indeed full of grace towards humankind but most people are ungrateful. Verses 61 – 67 God witnesses everythingWhatever matters people are engaged in, from reading the Quran to the mundane, God is a witness to it and it is all, the large and the small of it, recorded in a book.  Not even a speck, the weight of dust escapes God's knowledge, and it is kept in a clear record.  For those who believe and fear God there will be no fear; they will receive good tidings both in this world and the Hereafter.  God tells Prophet Muhammad not to let the words of the unbelievers grieve him.  God is All-Powerful; All-Hearing and All-Knowing.  Everything in the heavens and on the earth belongs to Him.  Those who call on other than God are following only assumptions and lies.  God made the day and the night and surely this is a sign for those who listen to the message.Verses 68 – 70 The consequence of lying about GodSome people say that God has a son.  He is free of all needs, the master of the heavens and the earth.  They have no authority to make such a claim, why do they invent lies about God? Those who lie about God will not succeed, they may have some brief enjoyment in this world but in the Hereafter they will face severe punishment.Verses 71 – 86 Stories from the pastTell the people about the story of Noah.  He said to his people, "If my presence among you reminds you too much of that which you do not wish to hear about God's signs and warnings then do what you will.  But let it be clear and decisive.  Remember however that I have not asked for any kind of payment, my reward is from God alone.  I am among those commanded to worship Him Alone."  They did not listen, they rejected Noah.  God saved him and those with him in the ship.  Those who denied the signs were left to drown. Then God sent others, each to their own people.  They came with clear evidences but the succeeding generations were persistent in their disbelief.  Moses and Aaron were sent to Pharaoh and his people but they behaved arrogantly towards them and their message.  Moses said, "Do you think I bring you magic; because magicians will never succeed." Haughtily Pharaoh called for all the magicians in the land and Moses exposed the worthlessness of their magic.  God does not promote the work of mischief makers. Nobody believed Moses except some of the youth amongst his own people; most of the people were too scared of Pharaoh's regime.  Moses asked the believers to put their trust in God and they prayed to Him to release them from the hands of the unjust people.Verses 87 – 95 DeliveranceGod revealed to Moses and Aaron that they should take their people to Egypt where they would build their houses and establish the prayer.   Moses then prayed that the wealth and splendour of Pharaoh's people be taken away from them.  Obliterate their wealth and harden their hearts he asked.  God said that this prayer would be answered and told Moses to remain steadfast.  So Moses led his people across the sea; Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them until they were drowned. At the very last minute Pharaoh said that he believed in the God of Moses and that he submitted to Him but God replied, "Now?" God saved his body but not his life so that he may be a sign for those that come after him.  Many people still fail to heed the signs.  The people of Moses were settled in a good place and were provided with the things required for a good life.  They did not differ amongst themselves until after knowledge had come to them but on the Day of Judgment God will judge between the things they failed to agree on.  Prophet Muhammad had complete certainty in that which was revealed to him.   Even if the People of the Book do not give heed to your call, they will still find evidence of you in their books. Verses 96 – 103 Forced conversion is prohibitedThere are many for whom the love of this world has sealed their hearts and eyes.  They cannot see the signs in front of their faces.  They will not believe.  No town ever saw the scourge then believed and it profited them except for the people of Jonah.  When they believed the punishment was removed, and they had enjoyment, for a time.  If God had so willed all the people on the earth would have believed.  Prophet Muhammad is asked if he would compel the people, against their will to believe.  Belief comes only by the will of God and He disgraces those who will not use their common sense.  Tell the people to see the signs in the heavens and the earth but no signs will convince those who will not believe.  God asks the question, "What are they waiting for?" In the end God will save the messengers and the believers, that is God's way and He says that it is only right that He saves those who believe.Verses 104 – 109  Guidance has arrived, so chooseProphet Muhammad is commanded by God to say, "People, doubt my religion if you will, I will never worship those you worship other than God, but I worship God who will cause you to die, and I am commanded to be a believer".  He is further commanded to dedicate himself to the religion and not to be amongst those who associate others with God.  God says you will not pray to others because they cannot benefit or harm you and if you do you will surely be one of the losers.  If God afflicts you with a calamity, none can remove it but He; and if He intends to bestow a favour, none can withhold His bounty.  He bestows it on whoever He pleases; He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.Prophet Muhammad is further told to tell the people that the truth has come.  Whoever chooses to follow the right path does so for his own benefit and whoever strays does so at his own risk.  I (Muhammad) am not set over you to oblige you for guidance.  God tells Prophet Muhammad to follow what has been revealed to him and to be patient until God judges.  He is the best of judges._______________________________________By Aisha Stacey (© 2015 IslamReligion.com)Copyright © 2006 - 2021 IslamReligion.com. IntroductionThis chapter is named for the many references throughout the chapter to women.  It is 176 verses long and was revealed in Medina.  When the Muslims migrated to Medina they were no longer a persecuted minority.  Medina became an established Muslim community with Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, as its leader.   Laws were being introduced to the fledgling community with regard to women, marriage, commerce, finance, international relations, property and inheritance.  There were also tensions between the Muslim community and some of the People of the Book and all these themes and subjects are covered. Verses 1 – 10 InstructionsFear God who created all of humankind from one soul (Adam).   Fear God, in whose name you request favours and demand rights.  Beware of severing ties with those to whom you are related.  Give the orphans in your care their rights.  Do not marry the orphan girls to take their property and possessions.  God has allowed you to marry up to four women that are legally available to you.  However if you feel you cannot treat all your wives justly then marry only one.  When you marry make sure to give the bridal gift agreed upon, however if your wife consents to give up some of what is owed to her you may accept that with a clear conscience.  Do not trust your property to those not equipped to look after it.  If you are in charge of someone else's property, return it to them when they come of age.  Be fair when you return the property because God will ask you to account for every little thing.  For men and for women is an obligatory share of what their parents and close relatives leave.  Be kind and provide something to other relatives, orphans and the needy if they are present when the inheritance is distributed.  The executors and guardians must be just.  Those who take property unjustly will be burned in the Hellfire.Verses 11- 14 InheritanceGod's instructions concerning the inheritance of your children are that the males share will be equal to that of two females.  If there are two daughters their share is two thirds of the estate.  If there is only one daughter her share is half.  If there are children then the parents get one sixth of the estate each; if there are no children and the parents are the only heirs then one third goes to the mother.  Debts take precedence over a bequest and bequests may not be given to those who inherit by law.  A man inherit half of his wife's estate if they have no children but if they have a child he inherits a fourth.  Wives will inherit a fourth of their husband's estate if they have no children but if they do they will inherit an eighth.  If there are no parents or children a single sibling inherits a sixth of the estate but if there is more than one sibling they share a third.  These are the rules set by God and those who obey Him and Prophet Muhammad will be admitted to gardens under which rivers flow, but those who disobey will abide in the Fire.Verses 15 – 33 About womenIf women are guilty of unlawful sexual intercourse there must be four witnesses against them.  Their punishment is to be confined to their houses for life.  This was until further directives were to be revealed.  Punish men and women who are guilty of this offense but when they repent leave them alone.  Accepted repentance is only for those who sin in ignorance or carelessness and then repent; repentance is accepted until the soul reaches the throat at the time of death.  There is no repentance for those who persist in their sins and repent only when faced with certain death or for those who die as disbelievers.  They will have a painful punishment. For those who believe, a deceased man's relatives have no rights of marriage or otherwise over his widow.  Treat your wives fairly and do not try to take back the bridal gift you gave them.  Treat them kindly even if you dislike something about them. If you want to replace one wife with another do not take back anything you have given them even if it was a large amount.  Do not marry women who have been married to your fathers. These are the women prohibited to you in marriage; your mothers, daughters, and sisters, your father's sisters, your mother's sisters, your brother's and sister's daughters, the women who nursed you and your sisters through nursing plus your wives' mothers, and your step-daughters.   Also prohibited to you are the wives of your sons and marrying two sisters simultaneously.  All married women are prohibited to you (except slaves) but all other women are lawful for you to marry.  If you do not have the means to marry free believing women, you are allowed to marry slaves who are believers.  Give them their bridal gift and treat them justly and fairly.  If the slave you marry commits adultery, her punishment should be half that of a free unmarried woman.  God makes it easy for you to see the difference between what is lawful and what is unlawful.   He wants to lighten your burden and turn to you in mercy. Do not consume one another's wealth under false pretences and do not kill each other.  Avoid the great sins and the minor misdeeds will be wiped out.  Do not covet what God has given to others but instead ask God for some of His bounty.  Men and women will be rewarded according to their deeds.  Follow the inheritance laws correctly.Verses 34 – 42 Serve GodMen are in charge of women and righteous women are obedient to their husband.  If a wife is disobedient she must be admonished, left to sleep alone and as a final resort you are permitted to strike her without leaving marks or causing injury.   If they obey you have no right to punish them.   If there is fear that a marriage might break down then get help with arbitration from both families.  If the couple wish to remain together then God will find a way for that to happen. Serve God; do not associate anything with Him.  Be good to your parents and relatives, the needy, and the neighbours both near and far, your companions, travellers in need and slaves.  God does not love those who are arrogant, boastful, and stingy or who encourage others to be stingy.  God also does not like those who spend their money to show off, or those who do not believe in the Last Day and those who choose Satan as their companion.  Believing in God and the Last Day, and spending in charity would not have harmed them.  God does not harm anyone.  Good deeds are increased.  Witnesses will come and those who disbelieved and disobeyed will wish they had not because nothing is hidden from God. Verses 43 – 57 Prayer and those cursedOh you who believe do not prayer while you are intoxicated; wait until you know what you are saying (this injunction was later followed with the complete prohibition of alcohol). Likewise, do not pray when you are in a state of impurity until you have taken a complete bath. If you cannot find water to perform ablution before prayer then find clean earth and wipe your faces and hands with it. Those who were given some of the Scripture used it for misguidance and they want you to do the same. God knows your enemies well. Some Jews take the words out of context. God cursed them. The People of the Book (Jews and Christians) should believe in this Quran, it confirms their books. God does not forgive those who associate others with Him; it is a huge sin. Inventing lies about God is a sin. Those who were given part of the Scripture now believe in idols. God cursed them for that and they will never find a helper. They are not more rightly guided than the believers; God has rejected them. If they were given a share of the kingdom they would not share it. The Jews envy Prophet Muhammad, many the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, and his followers for what God has given them but they should remember that they are also from the family of Abraham whom God favoured with the Book, wisdom and a great kingdom (i.e. there is no reason to feel jealous since both the Israelites and Ishmaelites are the offsprings of Abraham). Hell is enough to burn those who turned away. Those who disbelieve in the verses will be herded into the Fire; those who believe will be led into gardens under which rivers flow. They will find there purified spouses and cool refreshing shade.Verses 58 – 70 Obey God and His messengerGod's excellent instructions include returning the things entrusted to you and judging fairly, if you are called upon to do so. Obey God, His messenger and those in authority. If there is a dispute refer it to God and His messenger because that is better and will give the best result. Some people claim to believe yet still want to turn to unjust tyrants for judgment. They are hypocrites that turn away. They will return trying to bring about reconciliation but God knows what is really in their hearts. However you must speak to them, instruct them and try to penetrate their hearts.Messengers were meant to be obeyed. When they wronged themselves, they should have come to you (Prophet Muhammad) and they would have found God's forgiveness. But no, they will not truly believe until they make you the judge over their disputes. They should have done what they were instructed to do and they would have got a great reward. Whoever obeys God and His messenger will be with the ones on whom God has bestowed His favour. That is a bounty from God.Verses 71 – 87 Take careBe careful, believers. When you go to battle go in small groups or all together. There are people among you who will lag behind to avoid battle but if you are successful they will pretend regret. Those who are killed or victorious in God's cause will get a great reward. Fight in God's cause. Rescue those who cry out for God's help. Those who believe fight for God and those who disbelieve become the allies of Satan. Have you seen those who fear men as they fear God? The life of this world is brief and the Hereafter is eternal. Death will find you no matter where you are.  When good comes they acknowledge God but when they suffer evil or loss they blame Prophet Muhammad. What is the matter with them? All things are from God. If you obey Prophet Muhammad you obey God. God has not sent you to be their keeper; they obey you when in your presence but when your back is turned they plot against you. God knows, so trust Him and that is sufficient. Why don't they think about the Quran? It answers their questions just as Prophet Muhammad could have answered them. If it was not for God's bounty and mercy everyone would serve Satan. So Prophet Muhammad, fight in God's cause because you are only responsible for yourself. Urge the believers to fight because God might allow you all to overcome the disbelievers. Whoever speaks for a good cause will share in the reward and whoever speaks for a bad cause will share its burden. Respond to greetings with its equivalent or with something better. God keeps account of everything; there is no God but Him. You will surely be called to account on the Day of Resurrection.Verses 88 –100 About fighting and emigrationWhat is wrong with you? Why are you divided about what to do about the hypocrites? You cannot guide those God has left to stray. They want you to reject faith and be like them so do not take friends from among them until they have immigrated to Medina for the sake of God. If they turn on you aggressively then kill them. A believer must not kill another believer except by mistake. And if someone makes this mistake they must free a slave and offer compensation. The compensation can be waived as a charitable act. If the victim was at war with you, but a believer, then the compensation is to free a slave. If the victim was part of a group with whom you have a treaty then a slave must be freed and compensation paid and if you are unable to do this then fast for two consecutive months. The punishment for killing a believer intentionally is Hell. Be careful! Do not kill someone who offers you a greeting of peace; do not call him a non-believer.Those believers who stay behind (except those who are unable to fight) are not equal to those who strive in God's cause. Those who strive are offered a higher rank though there is a good position for all.  When the angels take the souls of those who have wronged themselves there are some that say they were oppressed. The angels will ask if the earth was not big enough for them to find refuge in.  There only refuge is Hell, except for those who were prevented by circumstances beyond their control. God might pardon them. He is All-forgiving. If someone who emigrates for God's sake dies, he is assured of a great reward.Verses 101 – 104 The prayerWhen you travel you are permitted to shorten the prayer. When in battle, pray in ranks one at a time, one group guarding the other. You can lay aside your arms during heavy rain or illness but be careful. After prayer remember God, standing, sitting or lying on your sides.  When you are secure you must re-establish the regular prayers. Do not weaken, if you are suffering so too is the enemy but you can expect help from God but they cannot.Verses 105- 126 Wrongdoers only harm themselvesThe Quran was revealed to you Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, so that you may judge between people according to God's will.  God is forgiving and merciful but do not argue for those who deceive themselves.  God does not love the treacherous or sinful.  They can conceal their true selves from the people but not from God.  Those who argue for them in this life will find that no one will argue for them on the Day of Resurrection.  Anyone who disobeys God can ask for forgiveness and they will find that God is merciful.  Those who sin only harm themselves, but those who sin and try to blame others add the sin of slander to their burdens. When a group of people tried to lead Prophet Muhammad astray God saved him.   They did nothing but lead themselves astray.   They are unable to harm the Prophet.  God revealed the Book and wisdom to Prophet Muhammad; it taught him things he did not previously know.  They talk in secret but nothing good comes from their secret talks unless it is about charity, kindness or reconciliation.  If any oppose Prophet Muhammad after they have understood and chosen to follow the guidance, then they will be driven into Hell.  God will not forgive anyone who associates anything with Him but He will forgive any lessor sin. There are some people who call on female deities; that is nothing but following the cursed Satan.  For these people there is no escape from Hell.  Those who believe and do good deeds will find their eternal reward in gardens under which rivers flow.  It is a truthful promise.  The final abode will not be according to your desires nor will it be according to the desires of the People of the Book.  The believers who are righteous will be rewarded.  There is no one better than the person who submits to God and follows the religion of Abraham.  God was a friend to Abraham.  Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to God.Verses 127 – 140 Fear GodWhen they ask you (Prophet Muhammad) about women, tell them that God's rulings concerning their rights are in the Book (Quran).  If a women fears cruelty or alienation from her husband they should seek a peaceful compromise.  Be fair in your dealings; God watches you.  You can never be completely fair between wives but you should try to be.  Do not ignore one wife so that the other feels as if she is neither married nor divorced.  If you do divorce God will provide for both parties.Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to God and the believers are instructed to fear God.  The People of the Scripture were also instructed to fear God.  If God wanted to He could destroy all of humankind and replace them with others.  The rewards in this world and the next are God's to distribute as He sees fit.  Believers; stand firmly for justice and be true witnesses even if it is against yourselves or your relatives.  Do not follow your personal desires.Oh you who believe, confirm your faith in God, His Messenger, His Book and all the previously revealed books.  If you do not believe in God, His angels, His scriptures, His messengers and the Last Day then you have gone completely off course.  And if you believe and then disbelieve over and over God will not forgive you or guide you back to the straight path.  Tell the hypocrites that there is a painful punishment awaiting them.  Do they ally themselves with the disbelievers to seek power? All the power is with God.  If you hear people denying or ridiculing God's revelations then you must leave their company until the conversation changes.  Hell is where the hypocrites and disbelievers will be gathered; you do not want to be amongst them.Verses 141 – 162 Repent to avoid a painful punishmentThe hypocrites change sides, always trying to appear to be looking after the believers.  They even try to deceive God but He will be the Judge.  At prayer time they are either lazy or showing off.   They spend very little time remembering God.  Do not take them as your friends and allies.  They will be in the lowest part of the Hellfire.  However, if they repent, they will be believers and will be granted the mighty reward due to the believers.  God does not punish the grateful.Do not publicly speak evil words unless you are truly wronged.  Do not taunt people for what they did in the past.  God is able to extract retribution but He is also the Pardoner.  You cannot take some of the guidance but reject other parts.  It will result in a humiliating punishment.   A reward is due to those who believe in God and His messengers and do not make a distinction between any of the messengers. The People of the Scripture (Jews) ask you (Prophet Muhammad) to bring a book from heaven for them.  They were even harder on Musa.   They wanted to see God and were struck by a thunderbolt for their wickedness.  Even after they worshipped the calf God forgave them.   God took a covenant from them but they broke their commitments.  God sealed their hearts.   They slander Maryam, the mother of Jesus, and brag about killing Jesus.  They most certainly did not kill him, God raised him up.  Because of their continual wrongdoing certain things were made unlawful for them.  Those among them who reject faith will have a painful punishment.  Those who believe and do righteous works will have a great reward.Verses 163 – 176 Jesus was a MessengerRevelation was sent to Muhammad and all the prophets, David received the Psalms, and Musa spoke directly to God.  Some messengers you know about, others you do not, but they all brought good news and a warning.  You may choose to believe or not, but those who hinder others from belief have certainly strayed far away.  Believe in the truth for your own benefit.  People of the Scripture, tell the truth about God.  Jesus was a messenger; abandon the Trinitarian doctrine because God is Only One.  He does not need a son.  Jesus and the angels never scorn worshipping God.  Those who disdain His worship or are arrogant will have an agonising torment with no one other than God to protect them.  Convincing truth in the form of the Quran has come to you; hold fast to God and He will show you the way. They ask you for a ruling on the inheritance of a person with neither descendants nor ascendants.  In such cases, a sister inherits half her brother's estate; a brother inherits all his sisters' estate.  If there are two sisters or more, they inherit two-thirds of the estate.  And if there are both brothers and sisters, the male inherits twice the share of the female.  This is made clear so that you do not make mistakes.  Remember that God knows everything._______________________________________By Aisha Stacey (© 2017 IslamReligion.com)Copyright © 2006 - 2021 IslamReligion.com. Psalm 37:28-40   New International Version     28 For the Lord loves the just     and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed[a];     the offspring of the wicked will perish. 37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright;     a future awaits those who seek peace.[b] 38 But all sinners will be destroyed;     there will be no future[c] for the wicked. 39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;     he is their stronghold in time of trouble. 40 The Lord helps them and delivers them;     he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,     because they take refuge in him.

From the beginning, we have not seen justice on earth. Wrongdoers are not charged or punished. We seek wisdom and no person or animal on earth can find it, but God alone knows where it is. The fear of the Lord is wisdom. It cannot be bought or found except through the fear of the Lord.

Episode IntroOver the last couple of episodes we've thought about the nature of God or what we've called the non-moral attributes of God. That is, we've focussed on his being. God is present everywhere, he knows everything, and so on.But in this episode we're beginning to think about the character of God. What God is like to relate to? What is he like in personal terms? That's what we're thinking about in this episode of Thinking Theology.Podcast IntroHi. My name is Karl Deenick. I'm a pastor, theologian, writer, and Bible college lecturer. Welcome to Thinking Theology, a podcast where we think about theology, the Bible and the Christian life, not just for the sake of it, but so we can love God more, with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. The Character of GodSo what is God like?In one sense, describing the character of God is a bottomless pit. We can always say more. In fact, the key task of theology and the main goal of studying the Bible is to know and understand and love the character of God more and more. One place to look in trying to understand the character of God is the names that he is given in the Bible. For example, Hagar calls God, “El Roi”—the God who sees me”Abraham calls God, “Yahweh Jireh”—the God who provides. The psalms often call God, “Yahweh Tsevaoth”, which means “Lord of Armies”.Jesus means “Yahweh is salvation”.All those names give us insight into who God is.But while there are lots of things to be said about the character of God, there are some aspects of his character that are given great prominence in the Bible. And in this episode, I want to think about four of those.God is HolyFirst of all, he's holy. There are a few times in the Old Testament where people catch a glimpse of God. And one of those occasions in Isaiah 6.There in a vision, Isaiah sees the throne room of God. He writes,In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. (Isaiah 6:1 NIV)But what Isaiah hears is just as important as what he sees. The angels who are attending God cry out,“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” (Isaiah 6:3 NIV)As has sometimes been noted, God is described in many ways in the Bible, but only here is he described using the same word three times. God is love. But he's never described as “Love, love, love”. But he is described as “Holy, holy, holy.”The result of being confronted with the holiness of God is that Isaiah trembles with fear because he recognises his own sin and impurity in the face of the perfectly holy God. He says,“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” (Isaiah 6:5 NIV)As one Bible commentator has said, Isaiah is condemned by what we might consider one of the mildest of sins, unclean lips—having said inappropriate things. Yet, for Isaiah, it's enough to condemn him in the presence of God. Until, that is, God has one of his angels take a coal from the altar and touch Isaiah's lips to cleanse them. The point is that God is completely and perfectly pure.As Psalm 145 says,The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does. (Psalm 145:17 NIV)But holiness also includes what you might call God's “set-apartness”. In Isaiah 6, when Isaiah sees God, he sees him “high and lifted up”, exalted, but also far above us. Later in Isaiah 57, God says that he dwells in the “high and holy place”.God's holiness makes him distinct from us. Not least because he is set apart from sinners. But also because of the sheer majesty and glory of his holiness.Exodus 15:11 says,Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? (Exodus 15:11 NIV)And yet, although God's holiness makes him glorious and distinct and worthy of our praise and honour, remarkably, God also calls us to be holy as he is holy (Lev 19:2) and perfect as he is perfect (Matt 5).In fact, part of the promise of the gospel is that God communicates and shares something of his holiness with us. The Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us and make us holy in the image of Jesus. That is even more extraordinary given that we are by nature sinners. But that's the miracle of the gospel. In fact, although God is high and lifted up, he is also near to the lowly and contrite. We read in Isaiah 57,For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. (Isaiah 57:15 NIV)Part of the very definition of God's holiness, what it means that his name is holy, is not only that he is high and lifted up but also, incredibly, that he dwells with the lowly and contrite who are sorry for their sin and who humble themselves and look to him for his mercy and grace.Mercy, it seems, is part of the very fabric of God's holiness.God is RighteousThe next attribute of God's character is his righteousness.Righteousness refers to God's absolute justice and fairness. He rules the world in justice. He always does what is right.Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you. (Psalm 89:14 NIV)God always judges rightly. Psalm 98 celebrate that, saying,Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy; let them sing before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity. (Psalm 98:8–9 NIV)In a world where we aren't always guaranteed that we'll receive right and just decisions, it's a great encouragement to know that God always judges rightly and equitably. The positive side, then, of God righteousness is his provision for and defence of his people and those who suffer unjustly.Deuteronomy 10 says,He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. (Deuteronomy 10:18 NIV)And Psalm 37:28 begins,For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. (Psalm 37:28 NIV) But the second part of that verse goes on to spell out the other side of God's righteousness, which is judgement. It says,Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish. (Psalm 37:28 NIV)It's tempting to call that side of God's righteousness “negative”, but in a sense God's judgement is also good. Judgement on the wicked is good for those who have suffered at their hands. Judgement on those who oppress the poor means deliverance for the poor.In other words, judgement is one of the ways that God upholds and defends his people and the poor and the oppressed.Nevertheless, the Bible also describes God's judgement and punishment as his “strange work”. That is to say that in some sense it is not his natural mode of operation. We see that in Isaiah 28:21 where God coming in judgement against his own people is described in exactly those terms:The Lord will rise up as he did at Mount Perazim, he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon— to do his work, his strange work, and perform his task, his alien task. (Isaiah 28:21 NIV)God's strange work in Isaiah 28 is his judgement.Likewise, in Lamentations 3, God says that he will come to afflict his people for their sin, nevertheless, he says,[1]For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone. (Lamentations 3:31–33 NIV)Although God is coming to afflict his own people, he doesn't do so willingly but with great reluctance. It's not until the New Testament, however, that we begin to understand how God's justice and God's mercy can possibly fit together. In fact, without the cross, it's impossible to reconcile the justice and mercy of God.After all, how can God just overlook sin? How can he let some people get away with sin and not others? The answer is, of course, the cross. In the cross, God has punished the sins of his people so that justice and judgement is done in Jesus' suffering while also showing mercy. Without the cross, and God's punishment of sin in Jesus, God cannot be just and merciful.Paul says in Romans 3,God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— (Romans 3:25 NIV)The former sins God had left unpunished. But leaving them unpunished forever would be unjust. And so he sent Jesus as a sacrifice for the sins of those who belong to him. In that way, God upholds both his justice and his mercy.God is Kind to All He Has MadeSo, God is holy and he's righteous.Next, God is kind to all he has made. We've just seen how God has a special concern for the poor, the widow and the orphan. Those who are the most vulnerable in society. God particularly  cares for them. And God particularly cares for his own people. But not only that, God even cares for the unjust and the evil.As Jesus says in Matthew 5, his Father, causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. (Matthew 5:45 NIV)Or according to Psalm 145,The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. (Psalm 145:9 NIV)And it's not just human beings for which God cares; he cares for all his creatures. One of the most beautiful statements of that comes in Psalm 84 which says,Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God. (Psalm 84:3 NIV)Even the sparrow finds a place in God's presence and under God's care. Even a tiny little animal like that receives God's loving care and attention. And, as Jesus says, if that's true of sparrows, then it's certainly true of us.Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. (Luke 12:6–7 NIV)God is Merciful and LovingFinally, God is merciful and loving. One of the most significant moments in the Old Testament is where God appears to Moses and shows him his glory. God says to Moses,I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. (Exodus 33:19 NIV)God tells Moses that he will proclaim his name in front of him and show him his goodness. To us, someone telling us their name doesn't sound that exciting. It's how we introduce ourselves. But that's not what God is talking about. In ancient cultures a name wasn't just a label you used to address someone, it told you about the person. When God says to Moses, I'm going to proclaim my name, he means that he's going to tell Moses and show Moses exactly who he is and what is at the core of his being. And so in Exodus 34, God passes before Moses, who's hidden in the cleft of the rock, and as God passes by he says,“The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.” (Exodus 34:6–7 NIV)In what does God's goodness consist and what is at the very core of who he is?God's goodness consists in his mercy and patience and forgiveness and love. It consists in him being slow to anger. That's how God chooses to describe himself. That's the most important thing about him; that he's slow to anger, abounding in love and full of forgiveness to those who humble themselves before him. That description of God is so important that it comes up again and again in the Old Testament. For example, Psalm 103 records,The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. (Psalm 103:8–14 NIV)Of course, that mercy and grace comes to its fullest expression in Jesus—in his incarnation and in his death for sins.Yes, God is holy. Yes, God is just. But even more important, he's merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. That is his name. That is at the very core of who he is.OutroWhat is God like? He's holy, righteous, kind to all he has made, and merciful—slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.He is absolutely pure and set apart from us, but he's also near to the humble and the contrite. He defends the cause of the weak and punishes the those who perpetrate injustice. He provides for the good and the evil. And he is forgiving and gracious, punishing sin, but also standing willing to receive all who come to him through Jesus. That's it for this episode of Thinking Theology. In the next few episodes, we'll be thinking about the actions of God, and we'll begin by thinking about his work of creation. Please join me then.[1] Dane Ortlund, Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers (Wheaton: Crossway, 2020), 135.

Quran Recitation - Hashem Nabil | تلاوة القرآن - هاشم نبيل

Quran Recitation - Hashem Nabil | تلاوة القرآن - هاشم نبيل

In todays devotional we take a look at Psalm 37 and what it means to be "good sheep". Todays Text: Psalm 37:1-8 and verses 25-28 Psalm 37 Of David. 1 Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; 2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. 3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: 6 He will make your righteous rewardshine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. 7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. 25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. 26 They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing. 27 Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. 28 For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish.

“BE NOT ENVIOUS OF …” Jan 20 The world today puts a great lot of effort and money into marketing goods and services. The internet, radio, TV, newspapers magazines and sign boards are full of promotions of one kind of thing or another. A fundamental aim of the majority of this promotion is to make us envious of what other people have or experience – the aim is to make us want it ourselves! Now David’s Psalm (No. 37) today is very special, it is full of spiritual advice to those who aim to live in a godly way in contrast to the attitudes in our world of 2013. David says, “I have been young and now I am old” [v.25] so these are words of reflection at the latter end of his life. He starts by saying [v.1] “be not envious of wrongdoers” because they, like the grass, have no future. In another Psalm we read, “I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked” [73 v.3] So David had to learn the right attitudes in his life’s experiences, like we do. . But it is not just a matter of avoiding doing wrong, or not being envious of the successful: note what David also says in today’s Psalm, “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourselfover the one who prospers in his way” [v.7] It is a real challenge to “be still” in the sense that is meant here – in a world that is so active in experiencing and doing everything possible – it is a hyperactive society today. [Matt. 5 v.5] We need this awareness, if we are to effectively counteract temptations to take part in as much of this world’s spirit of living – without actually engaging in wrongdoing.

Psalm 36 to Psalm 40 Often we hear the Psalms one by one, but today we offer you the chance to hear a group of Psalms read as a collection! Psalm 36 For the director of music. Of David the servant of the Lord. 1 I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes. 2 In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. 3 The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good. 4 Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong. 5 Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. 6 Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals. 7 How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. 8 They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. 9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. 10 Continue your love to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart. 11 May the foot of the proud not come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away. 12 See how the evildoers lie fallen— thrown down, not able to rise! Psalm 37 Of David. 5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: 6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. 7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. 9 For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity. 12 The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming. 18 The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever. 19 In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. 20 But the wicked will perish: Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field, they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke. 26 They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.[b] 27 Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. 28 For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed[c]; the offspring of the wicked will perish. 37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace.[d] 38 But all sinners will be destroyed; there will be no future[e] for the wicked. 39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. 40 The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. Psalm 38 A psalm of David. A petition. 1 Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. 2 Your arrows have pierced me, and your hand has come down on me. 3 Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin. 4 My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear. 5 My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly. 6 I am bowed down and brought very low; all day long I go about mourning. 7 My back is filled with searing pain; there is no health in my body. 8 I am feeble and utterly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart. 9 All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you. 10 My heart pounds, my strength fails me; even the light has gone from my eyes. 11 My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds; my neighbors stay far away. 12 Those who want to kill me set their traps, those who would harm me talk of my ruin; all day long they scheme and lie. 13 I am like the deaf, who cannot hear, like the mute, who cannot speak; 14 I have become like one who does not hear, whose mouth can offer no reply. 15 Lord, I wait for you; you will answer, Lord my God. 16 For I said, “Do not let them gloat or exalt themselves over me when my feet slip.” 17 For I am about to fall, and my pain is ever with me. 18 I confess my iniquity; I am troubled by my sin. 19 Many have become my enemies without cause[b]; those who hate me without reason are numerous. 20 Those who repay my good with evil lodge accusations against me, though I seek only to do what is good. 21 Lord, do not forsake me; do not be far from me, my God. 22 Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my Savior. Psalm 39 For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David. 1 I said, “I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked.” 2 So I remained utterly silent, not even saying anything good. But my anguish increased; 3 my heart grew hot within me. While I meditated, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue: 4 “Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. 5 You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.[b] 6 “Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be. 7 “But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you. 8 Save me from all my transgressions; do not make me the scorn of fools. 9 I was silent; I would not open my mouth, for you are the one who has done this. 10 Remove your scourge from me; I am overcome by the blow of your hand. 11 When you rebuke and discipline anyone for their sin, you consume their wealth like a moth— surely everyone is but a breath. 12 “Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. I dwell with you as a foreigner, a stranger, as all my ancestors were. 13 Look away from me, that I may enjoy life again before I depart and am no more.” Psalm 40 For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. 1 I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. 4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.[b] 5 Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare. 6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire— but my ears you have opened[c]— burnt offerings and sin offerings[d] you did not require. 7 Then I said, “Here I am, I have come— it is written about me in the scroll.[e] 8 I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.” 9 I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, Lord, as you know. 10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly. 11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord; may your love and faithfulness always protect me. 12 For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me. 13 Be pleased to save me, Lord; come quickly, Lord, to help me. 14 May all who want to take my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace. 15 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” be appalled at their own shame. 16 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The Lord is great!” 17 But as for me, I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; you are my God, do not delay. Right mouse click or tap here to save/download these Psalms as a MP3 file You can now purchase our Partakers books! The untrained response to robbers and thugs and to those who otherwise err is outrage and retribution. Wrongdoers need to be rightly understood to form the correct response to their behavior. The appropriate response to bad deeds is a pity for the perpetrators since they have adopted unsound beliefs and are deprived of the most valuable human capacity: the ability to differentiate between what's truly good and bad for them. Their original moral intuitions have been distorted, so they have no chance at inner security. Whenever someone does something foolish, pity him rather than yield to hatred and anger as so many do. We are only enraged at the foolish because we make idols of those things which such people take from us.

For the 2019 Tanner Lectures at UC Berkeley, Arthur Ripstein, a professor of law and philosophy at the University of Toronto, argues that the very thing that makes war wrongful — the fact which side prevails does not depend on who is in the right — also provides the moral standard for evaluating the conduct of war, both the grounds for going to war and the ways in which wars are fought. In the first of three days of lectures and discussions, which took place on April 9-11, Ripstein talks about the rules for wrongdoers. He says, "The thing that's wrong with war is war is the condition in which might makes right. Now, that doesn't mean that no one could every be justified in going to war, but it means that war is always morally problematic. It's morally problematic because who prevails in the war depends on strength and is entirely independent of the merits." Following the lecture, UC Berkeley law professor Christopher Kutz provided a commentary. The Tanner Lectures on Human Values is presented annually at nine universities: UC Berkeley, Harvard, Michigan, Princeton, Stanford, Utah, Yale, Cambridge and Oxford. This series was founded in 1978 by the American scholar, industrialist and philanthropist, Obert Clark Tanner, who was also a member of the faculty of philosophy at the University of Utah. He was also an Honorary Fellow of the British Academy. Tanner's goal, in establishing the lectures through the Tanner philanthropies, was to promote the search for a better understanding of human behavior and human values. He hoped that the lectures would advance scholarly and scientific learning in the area of human values, and contribute to the intellectual and moral life of humankind.Read more about the 2019 Tanner Lectures.Stay tuned for the second and third installments of the 2019 Tanner Lectures on Berkeley Talks.Listen and read a transcript on Berkeley News. This is Day 416 of our trek, and today is Wisdom Wednesday. Every Wednesday along life's trails we dig for the nuggets of wisdom that are found within the book of Proverbs. Today we will explore the 1st half of chapter 17. https://wisdom-trek.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/download-6.png () We are broadcasting from our studio at The Big House in Marietta, Ohio. We had planned to drive up to Marietta on Sunday, but some medicine that we were waiting to be shipped to Paula's mom did not arrive until Monday. So we delayed our plans by 1 day. Fortunately, we had nothing pressing on Monday, so we left after the mail arrived with her medicine. When we travel on a weekday, it does require that Paula drives so that I can continue to work providing remote software support for one of our clients. There is fairly good data coverage most of the trip, so I am able to stay connected and work as we travel. After making a quick stop for a few groceries, we arrived home at about 8 pm. It looks like the lawn needs to be mowed, so I will have to work in that this week along with a little bit of exterior trim that I need to finish up while we are here this time. With a house of this size and age, there will always be some project that needs to be completed, but we will work them in when possible and enjoy the time. It is time to head out on our trail for today as we discover more nuggets of wisdom in the book of Proverbs. We will dig through the first 14 verses, and the title of our trek for today is extracted from verse 9 and starts out with… Love ProspersLet's start in with verse 1. 1 Better a dry crust eaten in peace than a house filled with feasting—and conflict. In this verse, Solomon reiterates a concept that he introduced previously. It is much better to have very little to eat and a house filled with love for each other, than a house filled with food, but conflict with family and friends. If you have ever eaten a scrap of dried crust, you know how tasteless and non-filling it is, but if you are sharing it with those you love and are at peace then it is special. Contrary to this, is having plenty to eat, but the meal times are not enjoyable because of the conflict.   2 A wise servant will rule over the master's disgraceful son and will share the inheritance of the master's children. A faithful and wise servant or employee will gain favor with the master or business owner, even to the point that they could receive a share of the inheritance or company profits. This would certainly be considered if the children disgraced their parents or were wasteful of what the master/owner worked so hard to obtain.   3 Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the Lord tests the heart. If you have ever observed how gold or silver are purified, it is by melting them at an extremely high temperature and then waiting for the impurities that are mixed in the gold and silver to come to the surface so that it can be skimmed off. These impurities are considered dross. In the same way, you may have to go through the fires of tribulation and hardship so God can purge that which is impure from your life. You should not shun this, but welcome it as part of your maturing process. https://wisdom-trek.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/686689.jpg ()   4 Wrongdoers eagerly listen to gossip; liars pay close attention to slander. The person who enjoys and shares in the gossiping about others is doing wrong. We should minimize our exposure to this type of person. A person who enjoys,...

(Gonna be "SIIIICK"...Cory's words, not mine.) I read a twitter question from Seth Hansen ( @thestormmaster) directly to Cory. That's right. We interact when we can. Secret side projects in Canada, country music, bad tattoos...so fun. We then get into Cory opening up and telling the world about his new lyrical goals with this new era for Norma Jean. Oh...and that milk vomitting video. We got it all for you. You know why? Because we love you. Take care. Faith works when I honor God who REMEMBERS me, 16 Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name. Malachi 3:16 15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; Psalm 34:15 6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8 28 For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish. Psalm 37:28 5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 and RESPONDS to me out of kindness. 17 “On the day when I act,” says the LORD Almighty, “they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him. 18 And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not. Malachi 3:17-18 7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”8 and, “A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for. 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:7-9
