On today's Ask Me Anything episode of The Therapy Crouch, Abbey and Peter are still living their best lives in Portugal as they answer your most random, chaotic and hilarious questions yet. Peter reveals his bizarre talent for recognising footballers from just their forehead, the gang debate whether digestive biscuits have got thinner over the years and Abbey shares the household tasks she absolutely refuses to do.The conversation quickly spirals into dream movie roles, awkward running styles, questionable farming smells and whether being called “Daddy” in bed really does increase testosterone levels by 300%. There's also chat about Arctic Monkeys, celebrity acting ambitions, animal births, podcast life behind the scenes and why Abbey would rather play a crackhead than a glamorous role.If you want to submit an Ask Me Anything question to the podcast - hit the link below https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1rAKDST4HU_8al_aWpOlys3TRJrWvDV-84piVdlOOjU4/edit00:00 Introduction 01:10 Peter's Weird Football Knowledge 04:30 Arctic Monkeys and Music Taste Debate 07:28 Holiday Advice with TUI 08:37 The Great Digestive Biscuit Conspiracy 11:00 What “Normal” Things Are They Bad At? 15:30 Dream Movie Roles and Acting Ambitions 20:05 The Farmer Story That Gave Everyone The Ick 22:00 Farm Smells, Animals and Countryside Chat 24:00 Animal Births and Kitten Conversations 26:40 The “Daddy” Debate Gets Out Of HandTo contact us: Email: thetherapycrouch@gmail.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetherapycrouchpodcast/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thetherapycrouch Website: https://thetherapycrouch.com/For more from Peter https://twitter.com/petercrouchFor more from Abbey https://www.instagram.com/abbeyclancyOur clips channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZntcv96YhN8IvMAKsz4Dbg Hosted on Acast. Primarily writing for the Guardian, he has also written for outlets including the BBC, Pitchfork, The Independent, The Times, New Statesman, Uncut, The Quietus and countless others. This week performance poet John Cooper Clarke joins Gary and Guy to talk about his career, from his discovery of the powers of poetry at school to his status today as something of a national treasure. Always a fan of music, and galvanised by the Beatles and The Stones, he tried his hand playing bass in a band, but soon found he wanted to work with words, and began writing and performing his own poetry. In this episode he discusses Dylan, Ronnie Wood as a style icon and how being covered by the Arctic Monkeys has brought his work to the attention of billions.

“I just remember being fascinated by language, it felt like this treasure I was discovering,” says Arlo Parks, of her childhood affinity with words. “I remember being obsessed with the word ‘pebble,' and the sense of different shapes. Maybe it's because I learned French before English, so my approach to the English language was quite, like, seeking and grasping and understanding as I went along. But the dictionary, I remember being obsessed with it.” If you've been a fan of Arlo Parks' music over the course of her three beautiful albums, I'm sure it comes as no surprise to learn that the British singer-songwriter has been obsessed with words since childhood. In episode 137, she shares more about her early life explorations of poetry and song craft, memories of hearing Otis Redding from the backseat of her father's car, discovering Miles Davis and Prince in her uncle's vinyl collection, downloading Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs onto her iPod, trying to play all of Elliott Smith's XO on guitar, and eventually beginning to make her own music near the end of high school. We also discuss her approach to her wonderful new album, Ambiguous Desire, and how going out to dance clubs and DJ nights brought new inspiration. And I especially loved that Arlo came over to my little LA bungalow to do this interview in person! Get tickets for her upcoming shows here.

Fully & Completely: Redux - World ContainerBob Rock, a divisive record, and the Tragically Hip song that might just be their best. jD and Greg came around. Hard.October 17th, 2006. The Tragically Hip released "World Container" - their first of two records with producer Bob Rock, and one of the most divisive albums in the band's catalog. Twenty years later, jD and Greg LeGros are back for Season 2 of Fully & Completely: Redux, and the verdict is in: this record is better than you remember. In this episode, jD and Greg dig into the landscape of 2006 - the Wild West of music piracy, the indie pop boom, Arctic Monkeys blowing up on MySpace, and a straight-ahead Canadian rock band trying to stay relevant without chasing a trend. Then they get into the album itself, track by track: the stadium-sized riff of 'You're Not the Ocean', the disco-beat weirdness of 'The Lonely End of the Rink', the complicated love letter that is 'In View', the cool-as-hell swagger of 'Fly', and the title track 'World Container' - which gets called one of the best Tragically Hip songs of all time. No argument here.Greg also quit coffee. It almost killed him. We talk about that too. This is Fully & Completely: Redux. Season 2. We're back."I missed the boat completely. Because this song is just perfect."Greg LeGros from Toronto - co-host of Fully & Completely and the person most likely to make you reconsider a record you wrote off. Musician, music obsessive, and the only person jD trusts to go track by track through a Tragically Hip album for hours without losing the thread. A milky tea, a jam sponge and this week's news served on a tin tray with a steam train painted on it points our very English conversation towards the following … … what connects the Monkees and a British Prime Minister? … when are you too old for Indie? … A Certain Je Ne Sais Quoi? A Bar on The Piccolo Marina? Noel Coward or Neil Tennant? … the Move, the Streets, the Kinks, ELO, Ian Dury, Anthony Newley, the Jam, Herman's Hermits, Cat Stevens, Arctic Monkeys and other acts with a sense of Englishness … Girl in the Thunderbolt Suit: when Marc Bolan went science fiction … how London Zoo could have put the tin lid on the Beatles … the daft story of Randy Scouse Git … how Michael Caine cooked up the name Harry Palmer ... the most English pronunciation of a songword ever … Black Crowes, Byrds and the allure of misspelling … Roxy, 10cc, the Hollies, Manfred Mann, Human League and other original line-ups we want to reform … plus Angine de Poitrine, Kaleidoscope rebooted by Jimmy Page and birthday guest Jonny Wren.Help us to keep the conversation going: https://www.patreon.com/wordinyourear Hosted on Acast.
