TOM JOHNSTON THE DOOBIE BROTHERS ‘THE LOST INTERVIEWS' with RAY SHASHO EPISODE 15 INTERVIEWED FEBRUARY 17TH 2013   The Doobie Brothers are one of those bands that we've depended on, year after year, and expect to see performing invariably at outdoor music festivals, pavilions, arenas, casinos and bike week events across the nation. The group has been exhilarating audiences for decades yet appear timeless onstage. One of the principal reasons for the longevity and success of the Doobie Brothers has a lot to do with an unmitigated affection shared between the band and its audience. It's been an amazing love affair that has persevered for over forty-two years. When the Doobie Brothers finally call it quits … rock ‘n' roll will probably call it quits too.  Tom Johnston is the voice, lyricist and guitarist on numerous classic hit recordings by the Doobie Brothers. Inspired by listening to R&B music on the radio, California native Johnston started his first band at 14, eventually broadening his musical horizons by singing with soul and blues groups. After moving to San Jose to finish college, Tom met Skip Spence, original drummer for the Jefferson Airplane. Spence introduced Johnston to drummer John Hartman. Spence was also a founding member of Moby Grape which had a major influence on the Doobie Brothers. Tom Johnston, John Hartman and bassist Greg Murphy formed the power trio “Pud.” When “Pud” unraveled, the evolution of the Doobie Brothers began to take shape. While living in a home dubbed as their “musical headquarters,” guitarist Patrick Simmons and bassist Dave Shogren joined the group. The band quickly generated a huge following in California. In 1971, the Doobie Brothers launched their self- titled debut album, The Doobie Brothers on the Warner Brothers label with legendary producers Ted Templeman and Lenny Waronker. The first track on the album, “Nobody” penned by Tom Johnston, would later resurface in 2010 on their latest release, World Gone Crazy. Their second studio album Toulouse Street (named for a street in the French Quarter of New Orleans) introduced new bassist Tiran Porter and second drummer Michael Hossack (Navy Veteran). The album spawned the Tom Johnston penned classic hits, “Listen to the Music” (#11 Top 100 Billboard Hit -1972), “Rockin' Down the Highway” and “Jesus Is Just Alright,” (#35 Billboard Top 100 Hit -1973) written by Arthur Reynolds (1965) and performed by The Byrds (1969). In 1973, the Doobie Brothers released, The Captain and Me spotlighting some of the bands most memorable classic rock tunes penned by Tom Johnston … “Long Train Runnin'”(#8 Billboard Hot 100 Hit) and perhaps the bands anthem song, “China Grove” (#15 Billboard Hot 100 Hit). The Captain and Me also featured a guest performance by future Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter. The Doobie Brothers fourth studio album, What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits released in 1974 spawned the Tom Johnston penned songs, “Another Park, Another Sunday” (#32 Billboard Hot 100 Hit) and “Eyes of Silver” (#52 Billboard Hot 100 Hit). The album also featured Pat Simmons penned tribute to “The Big Easy,” “Black Water” (#1 Billboard Hot 100 Hit -1975). Stampede released in 1975 was the final album before Michael McDonald took over lead vocalist duties from an ailing Tom Johnston. The album featured the cover version, “Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me A Little While)” (#11 Billboard Hot 100 Hit -1975) written by the Motown team of Holland-Dozier-Holland. Subsequent albums …Takin' It to the Streets (1976), Livin' on the Fault Line (1977), Minute by Minute (1978) and One Step Closer (1980) featured a successful second incarnation of the band, which primarily consisted of Michael McDonald(vocals, keyboards) Patrick Simmons (guitars/vocals) Jeff “Skunk” Baxter (guitars, steel guitars), Tiran Porter(bass, vocals), John Hartman (drums) and Keith Knudsen (drums). *Tom Johnston played and sang “Turn It Loose” and “Wheels of Fortune” on the album Takin' It to the Streets. John McFee was added to the Doobie Brothers lineup in 1979 replacing Jeff “Skunk” Baxter and was featured on One Step Closer. After a successful run, the band's signature sound and direction became disillusioned. While working on his solo project, Tom Johnston rejoined the band for a Farewell Tour, and then the Doobie Brothers would call it quits as a band for the next five years. The reformation of the Doobie Brothers was contrived when the band's alumni were asked by drummer Keith Knudsen to perform at a concert to benefit veterans' causes. The band discovered that tickets were in great demand and soon embarked on a twelve-city tour.   In 1989, Cycles, the tenth studio recording by the Doobie Brothers, now on Capitol Records, witnessed the return of Tom Johnston and drummer Michael Hossack to the studio as a band. Tom Johnston's distinctive vocals returned, and the band re-established their musical roots. Subsequent releases … Brotherhood (1991), Sibling Rivalry (2000) and World Gone Crazy (2010). World Gone Crazy was the Doobie Brothers highest charting album since 1989 receiving rave reviews and featuring the longtime core lineup of Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons. The Doobie Brothers band functions like a well-oiled machine, touring consistently year after year and enchanting music enthusiasts worldwide. The current lineup of Tom Johnston (vocals/guitar), Pat Simmons (vocals/guitars), John McFee (guitar/strings/vocals), John Cowan (bass), Guy Allison (keyboards/vocals), Marc Russo (saxophones), Ed Toth (drums) and Tony Pia (drums)… represent a musical legacy that defines the quintessence of rock ‘n' roll and a band that we've always depended on throughout the years. The Doobie Brothers have sold more than 40-million albums worldwide. …So why aren't they in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?   Tom Johnston and the Doobie Brothers will be performing live as part of the Bands, Brew & BBQ concert series at Busch Gardens in Tampa on Sunday, February 24th. For tickets visit … http://seaworldparks.com/buschgardens-tampa/Events/Bands-Brew-and-BBQ or call 1-888-800-5447 for further information. Eagle Rock Entertainment recently released ‘Let The Music Play' –The Story of The Doobie Brothers on DVD, Blue-ray and Digital Video. -Available to purchase at amazon.com. I had the great pleasure of speaking with Tom Johnston recently about the band's current and future projects, family, and the future of rock ‘n' roll. TRINI LOPEZ (May 15, 1937 – August 11, 2020) ‘THE LOST INTERVIEWS' WITH RAY SHASHO EPISODE 12 Interviewed November 28th 2014 Trini Lopez is an international music legend best known for recording classic covers and converting them into danceable songs by adding his own special spin and flavor. Lopez not only makes those notable tunes danceable, but he usually outsells all other artists who have also covered those songs including the recordings by the original songwriters.     Born in Dallas, Texas, his Father Trinidad Lopez II was a singer, dancer, actor, and musician in Mexico. Trini's parents moved to Dallas when his dad was eighteen seeking a better life. Trini learned to play guitar from his father and played for money on street corners. He eventually began performing in clubs around the affluent parts of Dallas. Lopez even performed at a club owned by the notorious Jack Ruby. A true rock and roll visionary … Lopez uncannily wrote and recorded a song called “The Right to Rock” released on a small label called Volk Records in 1958. After hearing the single, King Records offered Trini a three-year contract. The only chart hit for Lopez on the King Records label was a Skyliners cover called “Since I Don't Have You,” Trini's rendition reached #10 on the Cashbox and Billboard charts. After one of Trini's performances Lopez met with another Texan, rock and roll pioneer Buddy Holly. Holly tried to help Trini by inviting him to meet with his record producer in Clovis, New Mexico. Lopez became great friends with Buddy Holly and The Crickets. Holly was killed in a plane crash along with Richie Valens and The Big Bopper on February 3rd 1959. Several months after the crash, Lopez received a phone call to come out to Hollywood, California to become the new lead singer of The Crickets. The Crickets plans never materialized and Lopez took a job at the Ye Little Club in Beverly Hills. The one-year run led to a historic engagement at the famous PJ'S nightclub. It was at PJ'S where Lopez landed his big break. Frank Sinatra took notice of Trini's one-man act and had Don Costaoffer him an eight-year recording contract on Sinatra's label Reprise Records.  Trini's first two albums were recorded live at PJ'S and successfully launched an incredible music and acting career for the impending international superstar. Trini's most recognizable Hit Singles … “If I Had a Hammer” (#3 Billboard U.S. Hit-1963 -Reached #1 in 36 countries), “I'm Coming Home Cindy” (#39 Billboard Hit-1966), “Michael, (#42 Billboard Hit-1964), “Lemon Tree” (#20 Billboard Hit-1965) “Kansas City” (#23 Billboard Hit-1963), “America,” “La Bamba”(1966) “Gonna Get Along With Out Ya' Now” (1967),  and The Bramble Bush (1967) to name just a few. BURTON CUMMINGS THE LEGENDARY VOICE OF THE GUESS WHO 'THE LOST INTERVIEWS' EPISODE 10 Burton Cummings is the legendary voice, songwriter, and keyboardist for Canada's own classic rock superstars The Guess Who. Although the group has had numerous personnel changes throughout the years, the most prominent members have been Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman.  Cummings was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His first band was an R&B group called The Deverons. The band released two singles on the REO Records label.  In 1965, Cummings joined The Guess Who replacing Bob Ashley on keyboards and eventually Chad Allan on vocals. The Guess Who scored commercially with their first international hit “These Eyes” (#6 Billboard Hit) in 1969. The track was featured on their album Wheatfield Soul on the RCA record label. The single was written by Bachman/Cummings and was their first to reach the top ten.  The Guess Who followed with a succession of Top 40 hits including … “Laughing” (#10 U.S. Hit, #1Canada -written by Bachman/Cummings) and “Undun” (#22 U.S. Hit). 1970 would prove to be the most pivotal year for The Guess Who. The group scored (2) #1 Hits in the U.S. with “No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature" and “American Woman” the group's biggest selling single. The Guess Who also spawned the hits …. “No Time” (#5 U.S. #1 Canada -written by Bachman/Cummings), “Hand Me Down World” (#17 U.S. Hit) and “Share The Land” (#10 U.S. Hit -written by Burton Cummings).  Randy Bachman left The Guess Who in 1970 and would eventually form Bachman- Turner Overdrive. Subsequent albums released by The Guess Who … Canned Wheat (1969), American Woman (1970), Share The Land (1970), So Long, Bennatyne (1971), Rockin' (1972), Artificial Paradise (1973). In 1973, Burton Cummings and The Guess Who released one of the group's most underrated albums entitled The Guess Who #10. The album was a clear diversion from the band's roots but spotlighted brilliant lyrical content and virtuoso musicianship. The album featured Burton Cummings composition “Glamour Boy.” The track was a jab at David Bowie's glitter rock insurgence. The album also featured the profound “Cardboard Empire” written by Bill Wallace and Kurt Winter, while hauntingly performed by Cummings.  In 1974, The Guess Who collaborated on their final Top 40 single entitled “Clap For The Wolfman,” (#6 U.S. Billboard Hit) an applicable tribute to legendary radio and TV personality Wolfman Jack.  Subsequent releases: The Guess Who #10 (1973), Road Food (1974), Flavours (1974), Power in the Music (1975), The Way They Were (1976). The Guess Who disbanded in 1975. In 1983, Bachman, Cummings, Jim Kale and Garry Peterson reunited as The Guess Who to play a series of Canadian gigs and recorded the Together Again live album and video.  Bachman and Cummings reunited again in 1997 to perform in Winnipeg for a disaster relief fund raiser.  An eclectic Guess Who reunion ensued in 2000 featuring Bachman, Cummings, McDougall, Kale, and Peterson. Bill Wallace eventually replaced Kale while the group toured regularly through 2003. A live album and DVD followed at the end of the 2000 tour. The Guess Who was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2001. Cummings received an additional Star in 2011. The Guess Who performed for an estimated 450,000 people at Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto, a benefit concert in 2003.  The Guess Who continues to tour with only original members … drummer Garry Peterson and bassist Jim Kale. Burton Cummings also amassed a widely successful solo career. He landed a huge hit with “Stand Tall” (#10 U.S. #1 Hit Canada) in 1976.  Burton Cummings solo albums …Burton Cummings (1976), My Own Way to Rock (1977), Dream of a Child (1978), Woman Love (1980), The Best of Burton Cummings (1980), Sweet Sweet (1981), Heart (1984), Plus Signs (1990), The Burton Cummings Collection (1994), Up Close and Alone (1996), Above the Ground (2008).   In 2002, The Burton Cummings Theatre for the Performing Arts in Winnipeg, Manitoba was renamed to dedicate the singer and songwriter.  In 2008, Cummings released the highly- acclaimed CD Above The Ground. All the tracks on the release are written by Cummings. The album also features his touring band The Carpet Frogs. In 2009, Cummings received the Order of Canada, one of the country's highest civilian honors.  In 2012, Burton Cummings Massey Hall was released –an incredible live CD recorded in Toronto.  Most recently … Burton Cummings is on a summer tour. He'll be releasing a book of poetry soon entitled, ‘The Writings of B. L. Cummings,' and a video series called RUFF.  I had the rare opportunity to chat with Burton Cummings recently about the summer tour, the true origin of “American Woman,” The life and times of The Guess Who, Canada, Wolfman Jack and so much more! ROGER HODGSON THE VOICE OF SUPERTRAMP 'THE LOST INTERVIEWS'  Episode 7 Roger Hodgson's inspirational lyrics, enchanting vocals and virtuoso musicianship continue to astound audiences worldwide. Hodgson's distinctive voice and profound musical arrangements have spawned numerous 'Top 40 Hits' for classic rock music legends Supertramp. Some of Roger's most distinguished classics include, “Give a Little Bit,” “The Logical Song,” “Take the Long Way Home,” “Breakfast in America,” “Dreamer,” “School,” “It's Raining Again,” and “Fool's Overture.” After performing to jubilant sold-out audiences worldwide, 'Supertramp's Roger Hodgson' returns to the stage in 2013 on a new global excursion. Roger will be making a rare appearance at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida on Friday, March 22nd and for the first time in the U.S.; Hodgson will be performing with a Rock Symphony Orchestra. After the release of their third studio album, Crime of the Century in 1974, Supertramp quickly captured the attention of music critics and aficionados across the globe. Crime of the Century was a superlative release. The creative writing collaboration of Hodgson and Davies, although contrasting, began a highly successful commercial period for a group comprised of highly esteemed musicians. Roger Hodgson penned; “Dreamer” became Supertramp's first big hit. The album also featured two beautifully composed arrangements by Hodgson entitled ... “Hide in Your Shell” and “If Everyone Was Listening.” Supertramp became a sought-out concert attraction because of their awe-inspiring musical abilities and riveting onstage presence. Their shows often spotlighted a movie projection that displayed the Crime of the Century album cover, an image of two hands clutching jail cell bars while floating in space. The projection synchronized hypnotically with the music above the stage. Subsequent albums … Crisis? What Crisis? (1975) and Even in the Quietest Moments (1977) which produced “Give a Little Bit” (#15 on Billboard's Pop Singles chart). In 1979, Supertramp released what would become their highest selling album, Breakfast in America. The album spawned four U.S. Billboard Hit singles… “The Logical Song” (#6 Hit), “Take the Long Way Home” (#10 Hit), “Goodbye Stranger” (#15 Hit) and “Breakfast in America” (#62 Hit). The album remained on top of the charts worldwide and eventually sold over 20-million copies, becoming one of the biggest selling albums of all-time. Supertramp made an amazingly smooth transition from a progressive rock scheme over album-oriented rock airwaves to mainstream Top 40 radio, and without compromising or sacrificing musical integrity. The bands next album, ironically entitled …Famous Last Words (1982) would be the last featuring vocalist/lyricist/keyboardist and guitarist Roger Hodgson. The album reached #5 on Billboard's Pop Album Charts and was certified Gold. To date ... Supertramp has sold over 60- million albums. Roger Hodgson officially left Supertramp in 1983 to pursue a solo career. In 1987, after his second solo album was released, Hodgson fell and shattered both of his wrists. Doctors said he would never play music again, but his strong faith, positive thinking, self-healing efforts, and physical therapy would prove the medical profession wrong. Within a year and a half, Roger was playing his music once again. Roger Hodgson released three solo albums since leaving Supertramp … In the Eye of the Storm (1984), Hai Hai (1987) and Open the Door (2000). He also released a live album entitled, Rites of Passage (1996). In 2001, Roger was invited to play with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. The band's lineup also featured Ian Hunter (Mott the Hoople), Greg Lake (Emerson, Lake, and Palmer), Sheila E., Howard Jones and Mark Rivera. In 2006, Hodgson released his first ever DVD entitled, Take the Long Way Home –Live in Montreal. The solo release achieved platinum status in just seven weeks. The following year, Roger accepted an invitation by Princes William and Harry to perform at the ‘Concert for Diana' in front of an audience of 65,000 people at Wembley Stadium. “Give a Little Bit,” “Dreamer,” “Breakfast in America” and “It's Raining Again” were among Diana's favorite songs. The concert was broadcast in 140 countries around the world. Roger Hodgson's most recent release, “Classics Live” is an incredible collection of his live performances recorded from his '2010 world tour.' There are also 60 unreleased songs that Roger plans to record when the time is right. I had a wonderful opportunity to chat with Roger Hodgson recently before the launch of his worldwide tour. Roger's music continues to inspire and offer hope for people everywhere. His spirituality and positive vibrations were felt throughout our entire conversation. Roger is a true delight.     Support us on PayPal!

Satire-comedy, “9 to 5,” stars the iconic trio, Judy Bernly (Jane Fonda), Violet Newstead (Lily Tomlin), and Doralee Rhodes (Dolly Parton), as exhausted secretaries navigating their toxic workplace. While under the heavy thumb of their sexist boss, they find their wildest revenge fantasies coming true, while of course, hilarity ensues. To recall the classic, Matt is joined by writer and friend of the show, Louis Virtel, to reflect on Jane Fonda's imprint on the film, and gush over favorite scenes and BTS gems. Establishing Dolly as more than a country singer and entertainer, but truly as a star, “9 to 5” started life-long friendships for the leading ladies and cemented a home for acrylics in the workplace. Never forgetting the song of the same name, “9 to 5” was a Billboard Hit and Grammy winner, and simultaneously immortalized the legacy of the film. DJ Colette on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/10/22 About DJ Colette - DJ, producer, vocalist – Colette has grown from an integral part of the Chicago underground into a breakout musical triple-threat releasing her most accomplished and fully realized artistic statement to date.  Combining the tunefulness of classic pop songs with the thump of classic house of her hometown, the album ventures into new sonic territory for Colette, from intimate bedroom beats to stadium-shaking dance anthems. When the Music's Loud is the sound of an artist at the peak of her powers. Always seeking to push boundaries and explore new territories, Chicago native DJ Colette, continues to discover ways to push her craft and career forward even after over two decades of leading the pack. A founding member of the pioneering DJ collective Superjane—along with DJ Heather, Lady D, and Dayhota—Colette has been an integral part of the Midwest underground since the birth of the 90s. Crafting events in Chicago—ones that would see most of Chicago's second generation of house music artists and DJs graduate to global scales—her Material events at the storied club Shelter in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood were seminal in the development of the house sound of Chicago's North Side, from the early 1990s on. Colette's groundbreaking combination of incorporating her live vocals over into DJ sets became her signature and a definitive technique that's won her fans from six continents. As a natural extension of her formative musical academia at Lane Tech College Prep, she began making recordings, with her first release appearing on 1995's “Moments of Epiphany” produced by Mazi & DJ Motion for Shroom Records. With an ever-increasing velocity of singles released for independent mainstays such as Icon Recordings, Moody Recordings, Nordic Trax, Brique Rouge, including Derrick Carter's seminal Classic Music Company, eventually led to recording two successful full-length efforts—2005's Hypnotized and 2007's Push—for San Franciso's legendary imprint OM Records. With multiple Dancestar Awards, commercial licenses, TV placements, and a Top #5 Billboard Hit, Colette was ready to make the next move in her career from not only just making records and playing them, but the upward motion to releasing them as well. Colette launched Candy Talk Records in June of 2010 as a platform for more creative control with her own music, their collaborations, and the choice and freedom to work with other record producers of whom she is a fan. Since then, Colette has personally released eight singles and two full-length efforts of her own work—2013's crowd-funded When The Music's Loud (named one of Vice's 99 greatest dance albums of all time) and 2017's Retrospective. Releasing remixed and original works from the likes of Gettoblaster, Sonny Fodera, Late Nite Alumni, Lawnchair Generals, Rubb Sound System, Scrubfish, WhiteNoize, Demarkus Lewis, Chuck Love, Golf Clap, Local Options, Change Request, and more she has created a home for other like-minded creators to have a platform for their work. With an ever-growing roster of musicians, producers, and DJs, 2019—thus far—has seen Candy Talk release East Coast production stalwart Pete Moss' mixes of Colette's “Dreams”, which peaked at #4 on the Traxsource Deep House Top 100. Establishing a remix series highlighting particular producers, Candy Talk has released two volumes in this series thus far with The Rubb Sound System Remixes (CTR015) and The Gettoblaster Remixes (CTR016), and The Demarkus Lewis Remixes (CTR018) featuring his reworks of "Call On Me", “Dreams”, and “We Feel So Hot” slated for the last quarter of 2019. Looking forward, the label anticipates celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020 with a compilation centered around the best of the Candy Talk catalog—including some new tracks—(CTR019) in the first half of the new year.   About The DJ Sessions - “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ's/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience. The Secret To Writing And Recording Songs To Completion – Marc Dold (Ep 228)

The secret to writing and recording songs to completion is something that Marc Dold wants to share with all musicians. He is a songwriter, platinum-selling producer, Apple certified Logic Instructor and indie artist known as Mawk Phoenix. This is Marc's 3rd appearance on the podcast. Celebrating The Wins And Struggles Along The Way—Mawk Phoenix (Ep 131) Today's Indie Musician—Mawk Phoenix (Ep 165) Marc was living in Malta, but had relocated to nearby Gozo when we spoke for this episode. If you're like me you may need a clue as to where these places are. They are islands in the central Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast. Marc and I reconnected as he was finishing up a course called Musical Architects, which he describes as a practical workshop that teaches how to write, arrange, record, produce, mix and finalize a song. Marc has produced and re-mixed for more than 50 major artists such as Nelly Furtado, Luis Fonsi, Paul van Dyk, Peter Gabriel, En Vogue, Alice Cooper, Cindi Lauper, Luther Vandross, Erasure, and many more, leading to several top 5 Billboard Hits including 2 #1 Hits. Needless to say, he's qualified to teach you and me how to get it done. Topics of discussion… We talk a about his upcoming album and he asks me about my experience recording songs (my first two singles). Also discussed: Marc's Musical Architects course, getting stuck in the recording process, how he starts his days with deep work in mind, and house concerts. On the topic of Deep Work, Marc mentions a book he was then reading called Deep Work by Cal Newport. Since our conversation for this episode, I heard an interview with the author on the Tim Ferris Show, one of my favorite podcasts. I have since added Deep Work to my reading list. Cal Newport has his own podcast, which I'm now enjoying (link in the show notes below). Please enjoy this conversation with me and Marc Dold. Pete Moss and Colette on the "Virtual Sessions" presented by The DJ Sessions 2/27/21 Pete and Colette talking about their collaboration album "THE DAYS" A Retrospective Part 1" and other things... About Pete Moss - Philadelphia based Pete Moss knows a thing or two about house music having traveled the world in search of the ultimate underground dance floors, and releasing over 150 projects on top labels such as, Ovum, Dessous, ALola, Definity, Large, Seamless, I records, MN2's, Acryl and dozens of others, including his own underground Recline imprint.  Known as one of the finest late night/underground Dj's on the map, crushing it at Fabric London, La Terrazza Barcelona, Roxy Prague, Salon Daome Montreal, Harlot San Francisco, King King L.A, The Arches GLasgow, La Santanera PDC Mexico, Rioma Mexico City, Smartbar Chicago, Living Room Miami, among others, Pete has a reputation for giving his all at every gig and leaving people touched and inspired by his signature deep and eclectic sound. Candy Talk Records kicked off 2021 with its twenty-second release, featuring the first in a two part retrospective compilation "The Days", from label favorite, Philly's deep house aficionado, Pete Moss. This two-part retrospective compiled by label head Colette features some of Moss' most memorable moments, with many tracks originally only available in limited quantities. These hand chosen tracks have all been remastered for today's modern fidelity. Part one of this series features an eclectic collection of sounds and moods. From the dubbed out aesthetics of tracks like "So Sweet", "2012", and "All Ova the World", to the spaced out elemental disco-tinged "Turn U Back" and "Back in the Daze", this is just scraping the surface of this release's brilliance. Paring the sweet and subtle spatial delicacy of "Too Soon", "I See the Beauty", and his rework of "Dreams feat. Colette" with the emotive tracks like the deep and driving "Rain Day" or "Solutionz", this compilation is a true testament to the exploratory musical magic that has become a benchmark of the sound of Pete Moss.   About Colette - Always seeking to push boundaries and explore new territories, Chicago native DJ Colette, continues to discover ways to push her craft and career forward even after over two decades of leading the pack. About "The DJ Sessions" - “The DJ Sessions" is a online/downloadable series featuring the hottest electronic music DJ's with live mixes and interviews, streamed live to a global audience. Check out the website: www.thedjsessions.com   With over 1,900 episodes produced over the last ten years "The DJ Sessions" has featured international artists such as: BT, Cut Chemist, Lindsey Stirling, Mako, Simon Patterson, Morgan Page, Jes, David Morales, Thievery Corporation, Sander Van Dorn, GAWP, Somna, Roxanne, Scotty Boy, Jody Wisternoff, Benny Bennasi, Christopher Lawrence, Oliver Twizt, Ricardo Torres, Alex Harrington, Pete Moss, Colette, 4 Strings, Sunshine Jones, Elite Force, Revolvr, Kenneth Thomas, Paul Oakenfold, George Acosta, Reid Speed, TyDi, Donald Glaude, Jimbo, Ricardo Torres, Hotel Garuda, Bryn Liedl, Rodg, Kems, Mr. Sam, Steve Aoki, Funtcase, Dirtyloud, Marco Bailey, Dirtmonkey, Crystal Method, Beltek, Dyro, Andy Caldwell, Darin Epsilon, Kyau & Albert, Kutski, Vaski, Moguai, Blackliquid, Sunny Lax, Matt Darey, and many more.   In addition to featuring national/international artists “The DJ Sessions” featured hundreds local top DJs from their homebase of Seattle.   We have also undergone a massive upgrade in our TDJS studios and to our TDJS Mobile Studio to full HD streaming and HD audio to make the quality of the shows even better than before. Along with that we have launched a new website that now features our current live streams and past episodes in a much more user friendly mobile/social environment.   About The DJ Sessions Event Services - TDJSES is a WA State Non-profit charitable organization that's main purpose is to provide music, art, fashion, dance, and entertainment to local and regional communities via events and video production programming distributed through broadcast television and the internet for live and archival viewing.   "The DJ Sessions" is a Twitch "Featured Partner" and MixCloud "Featured Partner" series and has been recognized by Apple twice as a "New and Noteworthy" and "Featured Video” podcast. The TDJS combined live streaming/podcast audience is over 90,000 viewers per week.   For all press inquiries regarding “The DJ Sessions”, or to schedule an interview with Darran Bruce, please contact us at info@thedjsessions.com Colette launched Candy Talk Records in June of 2010 as a platform for more creative control with her own music, their collaborations, and the choice and freedom to work with other record producers of whom she is a fan.

From Minneapolis, Minnesota, this episode's featured artist was born Prince Roger Nelson on June 7th 1958. His parents were both musicians and he grew up playing covers of Jimi Hendrix and Sly and the Family Stone tunes. Prince released his debut record, For You, at the age of just 19. Save for one co-write on the track Soft and Wet, he produced, wrote and played all 27 instruments on the album. Since that first release in 1978, his talents crossed genres from r&b, funk, pop, rock, and jazz. Prince is remembered for his music that focuses on sex and sexuality as well as it's political and social commentary. We have his song “Darling Nikki” to thank for those little Parental Advisory stickers we used to see on CDs. Like many mega stars, he made his way onto the silver screen most notably with the classic, Purple Rain. The soundtrack earned him his first chart topping hit, “When Doves Cry” followed by “Let's Go Crazy”. Prince went on to earn 3 more #1 Billboard Hits, with 19 total reaching Top Ten status, and a whopping 47 songs total to break the top 100. There are far too many accolades to list here, but some of Prince's award highlights include 8 Grammys ranging from Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group for Purple Rain in 1984 to Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for Future Baby Mama in 2004. He earned 7 Billboard Music Awards, and 7 Brit Awards. He was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, 3 of his records have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, and I would be remiss if I didn't remind our listeners about his life altering 2007 Superbowl Halftime Show performance, arguably the best Superbowl performance to date. Folks, I could go on and on, but I'd like to end with mentioning that Prince was a vegan, and a philanthropist supporting causes like Yes We Code and Green for All. He was someone the world lost far too early. This week on Favorite Songs By we give you The Purple One, the Love Symbol, his name is PRINCE and he is funky! Let's make it rain!

Saturday March 6, 2010 Recording Artist Jacinta checked in with DJ Jason Jensen on the Saturday Night Dance Party on Internet Dance Station www.DanceMixAmerica.com to promote her new dance singles Titled Magic (80's original by Olivia Newton John), and "Are You Dancing" which are now out on iTunes along with several other great 80's remixes all covered by Jacinta! Other Topics of discussion were Jacinta's upcoming trip to Miami, FL for a Winter Music Confrence event March 23 - 27th 2010. Jacinta is also taking part of a 45 mile bike ride for the HILL COUNTRY RIDE in Austin, TX on April 24, 2010. This is a benefit to raise funds for HIV/AIDS. Jason for the first time publicly admited to his 14 year HIV status and had a heart felt moment about this issue. To sponsor Jacinta's ride please visit www.hillcountryride.com. No matter what the amount you can sponsor, it will be greatly appreciated by us all! Jason also told Jacinta that he liked her name and wanted to change his DJ name to Jacinta Jensen.... Jacinta responded with a marriage proposal! VERY FUNNY... The interview ends with a clip of her new song "Magic". Search iTunes for Magic and Jacinta to purchase it today! Here is more information about Jacinta... Jacinta has been building a successful career in the dance/club genre with 5 consecutive Billboard Hits and a nomination for Best Artist Solo at the International Dance Music Awards, 2008 ... Lumina is NOT that. LUMINA gives us an insight into where Jacinta's music begins. The journey of a raw emotion finding its way to become a message in a melody sounding through her voice and piano. Sometimes in the midst of the desolation of the dark hours, with candles lit and incense burning, a cathartic music is birthed, and sometimes a new ember is discovered that glows within, be it an inspiring lyric or an uplifting vocal lilt or a chord progression that you just didn't see coming. It brings with it a new song that has a magical momentum that reaches out showering our hearts, minds and souls with new hope. Lumina: Songs of LIGHT from The Dark Hours. STOP PRESS!! JACINTA NOMINEE for BEST BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST at INTERNATIONAL DANCE MUSIC AWARDS (WMC 08). WHAT A NIGHT!!

Right now, I’m listening to my Top 100 Billboard Hits of 2008 playlist while typing and occasionally looking around at all of the smiling faces surrounding me. People are relaxed and enjoying some downtime. But I can’t, it just doesn’t seem fair. I can’t get the experience of meeting Lance Corporal Edward Swingle, a U.S. Marine wounded in action, out of my head. I don’t want to. It’s a rather strange conundrum of emotions I’m feeling right now because I really love music, so while my foot wants to tap a bit, I feel really ashamed at the same time thinking of this young man and his family and how worried they all must be for him.
