One recent study reports that teens spend an astounding 10 hours every day on their cell phones, with tweens (ages 8-12) logging in at nearly 6 hours. Adults, on average, devote four hours and 25 minutes to scrolling. This means adults will spend over two months on their phones this year. When you consider that most Christians only spend a handful of hours each week worshiping, studying the bible, and in fellowship, we have to ask if we are being discipled more by our devices than anything else. In the 1970s even, what shaped youth was school, parents, community, perhaps church, and books and music; sometimes TV. In this compelling message, Pastor Sean Gleason explores what it truly means to pray for deliverance, drawing from Luke 22 and Matthew 6. He unpacks the truth that deliverance is not a one-time event, it is a daily prayer, because just as Jesus gave us a model for daily prayer that includes "deliver us from evil," we must daily partner with God against the schemes of the enemy. Pastor Sean challenges believers to stop making prayer their last resort and to make it their first priority. Pastor Sean warns that there is no neutral ground between good and evil, and that Christians can unknowingly partner with the enemy through gossip, slander, unforgiveness, control, and manipulation, forms of what he calls Christian witchcraft. He emphasizes that true delight must be able to exist within difficulty, or it is not truly delight.Intimacy and delight with God are relational and participatory. God invites us to pursue Him, and as we do, He meets us. Sometimes we wait passively for God to manifest delight, and other times we strive to create it in our own strength. In reality, pursuing delight is a “dance”—God initiates and leads, but we must actively respond and show up, especially when delight seems elusive.Hardships, while unwelcome, often become ministers of grace, rooting us in humility and expanding our capacity for love and presence. Through chronic pain and other challenges, both Andi Ashworth and Charlie Peacock have experienced God's grace and a deepening humility. Charlie Peacock notes how his “thorn” limits self-reliance and ambition, drawing him toward greater dependence on Christ and shaping him into Christ's likeness. Andi Ashworth observes that their limitations have expanded their hearts and increased their compassion for others.Never outgrow asking your good Father for small joys. Delight in God blossoms in those who cultivate grateful, attentive hearts. Both guests encourage maintaining childlike wonder and gratitude—even for small blessings like a hot shower, a well-timed parking space, or serendipitous tickets to an event. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Pakistani Christian 13-year-old girl still captive to Muslim man On July 7, the European Parliament condemned Pakistan for its violation of human rights, citing a 13-year-old Christian Pakistani girl who is still fighting for her freedom from the 30-year-old Muslim man who abducted her, reports International Christian Concern. Maria Shahbaz was kidnapped in July 2025 by Shehryar Ahmad, who forced her to convert to Islam and married her against her will. Alliance Defending Freedom came alongside her parents in their fight to regain custody of their child in Pakistan's Federal Constitutional Court in February. Pakistani law states that a minor cannot legally consent to religious conversion or marriage, but shockingly the court ruled in favor of Ahmad when he presented a forged marriage certificate.  In Matthew 18:6, Jesus said, “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in Me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Shahbaz's parents are not giving up. They are still appealing their daughter's case in court, hoping that justice will swiftly come.  According to Open Doors, Pakistan is the eighth worst country worldwide for the persecution of Christians. Send a polite, 3-sentence letter to Rizwan Sheikh, the Pakistan Ambassador to America, asking that he intervene.  The address is 3517 International Court NW, Washington, DC 20008. Two U.S. soldiers killed in Iranian attack on military base Two American soldiers were killed on July 17th in an Iranian attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan, reports the Western Journal. In a post on X, U.S. Central Command added, “Four American service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals. They have since been discharged.” Plus, one soldier is missing. Iran's attacks came after the U.S. launched its seventh consecutive night of air strikes on Iran. Iran makes chilling death threats against President Trump Iranian state media has published a shocking video entitled “Where to kill Trump?”, claiming to know the U.S. leader's motorcade route and the vulnerabilities within his security, reports The Express. The highly concerning footage claimed to reveal “information on the whereabouts of the terrorist president of America” while promising that “access to Trump is possible in these places.” It also alleges to give details about the motorcade that protects the U.S. president, which typically consists of 40 to 50 vehicles. It comes after repeated death threats have been made by Iran following the U.S. assassination of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.  President Trump's primetime speech on election integrity Last Thursday night, President Donald Trump addressed election security in a nationwide primetime address from the White House, pointing to ways American political leftists and China have compromised our elections, reports The Epoch Times. TRUMP: “You can't have a great country without free and fair elections. All we want is honesty in our elections. Great damage has been done to our country. Our elections were left vulnerable to being rigged and stolen, and the trust of the American people was lost. This cannot be allowed to continue. “Every American -- whether you're a Republican, Democrat, Independent, or otherwise -- should be able to agree that we deserve the most secure, honest, and fair election system anywhere in the world.” President Trump explained that China started compromising our elections in 2020. TRUMP: “Over a period of years, starting during the 2020 election cycle, the People's Republic of China carried out what is believed to be the largest compromise of election data in history, resulting in China's illicit acquisition of 220 million U.S. voter files. That information includes names, addresses, phone numbers, political party preferences, and other sensitive data that would be needed to register to vote. “This data loss presents an unprecedented election security nightmare. The intelligence even shows that China assigned a data exploitation unit specifically to this new project.” And finally, President Trump vowed action to hold people accountable. TRUMP: “The documents we will release, starting tonight, have been gathered by the White House Government Transparency Task Force, a great group of people, supported by our top intelligence agency chiefs, who have all personally reviewed the findings we are presenting this evening and fully confirmed their authenticity. “You can see these documents for yourself at whitehouse.gov. That's whitehouse.gov. Go check it out. Our purpose in disclosing this information is not to weaken confidence in election, but to earn that confidence by confronting vulnerabilities and correcting them very, very quickly, and that's what we're doing.” Homeland Security Secretary vows to prosecute illegal voters In related news, during a Friday press briefing, Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin promised to hunt down and prosecute illegal voters in the U.S., noting that 250,000 non-citizens are illegally registered to vote in just four states, reports The Christian Post. Speaking in the wake of President Donald Trump's 25-minute primetime address about election security on July 16th, Mullin outlined an aggressive plan to tighten voter roll integrity, harden election infrastructure, and hold election officials accountable for alleged failures. Senator Marsha Blackburn: No more birth tourism Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee has reintroduced legislation aimed at ending so-called “birth tourism” following the Supreme Court's recent 6-3 ruling in Trump v. Barbara. It held that children born in the United States to illegal aliens and foreign tourists remain entitled to birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment, reports Big League Politics. She said, “Congress must step up to the plate to protect the integrity of American citizenship.” The Ban Birth Tourism Act is co-sponsored by GOP Senators Ted Budd of North Carolina, John Cornyn of Texas, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Tim Sheehy of Montana, Jim Banks of Indiana, and Rick Scott of Florida. The legislation would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to explicitly prohibit foreign nationals from obtaining temporary visas for the purpose of giving birth in the United States. It would also classify birth tourism as a deportable offense, allowing immigration authorities to remove foreign nationals who enter the country for that purpose. Samaritan's Purse deployed disaster relief unit for Texas flood victims On July 17th, churches in the Texas Hill Country opened their doors as flood displacement shelters, taking in families whose homes and recreational vehicles had been swept away by rapidly rising rivers that killed at least two people, reports The Christian Post. Recently more than 30 inches of rain fell over several days, causing the Leona River and Guadalupe River to overflow. Floodwaters surged through the streets, destroying homes, and stranding people and vehicles. Guided Question How has God uniquely gifted you to serve others, and are you actively using those gifts to strengthen Christ's body—or are you content to simply attend church without engaging in His mission? Summary In this message, Dr. Robert Lewis walks through 1 Corinthians 12, explaining that the church is not merely an organization that runs programs but a living, supernatural body empowered by the Holy Spirit. Every believer receives spiritual gifts—not natural talents—to serve others, strengthen the church, and advance God's kingdom. These gifts are sovereignly distributed by the Holy Spirit and are meant to be exercised for the benefit of the whole body, not for personal recognition or spiritual status. Lewis highlights five foundational truths about spiritual gifts: they are given by the Holy Spirit, they vary among believers, they are distributed according to God's will, they provide believers with a unique place of ministry, and they ultimately call Christians to die to self in order to serve others. Discovering and faithfully using one's spiritual gift gives purpose, identity, and balance to the Christian life. The sermon then addresses the often-debated sign gifts—particularly miracles and healing. While acknowledging common arguments that some miraculous gifts ceased after the apostolic age, Lewis concludes that Scripture does not require that position. Instead, he believes God remains free to grant these gifts if He chooses, though any genuine manifestation must align with the biblical pattern and never contradict Scripture. Examining the New Testament, Lewis distinguishes miracles from healings and argues that biblical miracles primarily authenticated God's revelation, while biblical healings were instantaneous, complete, undeniable, and publicly verifiable. Monday, 20 July 2026   So they answered Jesus and said, “We do not know.” And He said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things. Matthew 21:27   “And answering, the ‘Jesus', they said, ‘Not we have known.' He said to them, also He, ‘Nor I, I tell you in where-such authority these I do.'” (CG)   In the previous verse, the leaders of Israel, pondering among themselves, realized that if they said John's authority was from men, the multitude might come after them. With them being stuck in a hard place concerning Jesus' question, Matthew next records, “And answering, the ‘Jesus', they said, ‘Not we have known.'”   The leaders of the nation were wholly incapable of making a simple proclamation concerning John as proposed by Jesus in His question to them. The answer was something that was as evident as the nose on a person's face if John's role was evaluated from their own Scriptures. But because they lacked any intestinal fortitude at all in relation to standing on the authority of Scripture, while at the same time standing at odds with Jesus' ministry, they were unwilling to answer His question.   Because of that, Matthew next records Jesus' emphatic response to these leaders, “He said to them, also He, ‘Nor I, I tell you in where-such authority these I do.'”   The leaders had a right to question Jesus. However, they did not have a right to a response from Jesus if they could not answer His question to them about John. Because John testified that Jesus was the Messiah, and because they could not validate John's source of authority through open confession, they no longer had a right to question His authority further.   Life application: When a person is summoned to appear before Congress, he is required to show up. The Congress has this authority. Likewise, the leaders of Israel had the authority to question Jesus. However, if those in Congress asked a question about a matter they themselves could not properly answer, it would make no sense for the person being interrogated to have to answer that same question.   Jesus worked within the framework of Israel's laws and culture, never subverting them but using them in a manner that was acceptable to anyone in the society. We possess the same rights in the nations where we live. It is true that some nations deprive their citizens of various rights. Some nations also allow rights that exist to be ignored.   There is often nothing that can be done in such circumstances. We just have to live with the unrighteous conduct that is targeted against us. This is what Jesus had to suffer. During His trial before the leaders of Israel, the rights He possessed as a citizen of Israel were denied Him. An internet search immediately pulled up the following:    Procedural and Timing Violations Nighttime Proceedings: Capital trials were strictly forbidden from being conducted at night. Jesus underwent preliminary trials before Annas and Caiaphas, and a final condemnation before the Sanhedrin, all occurring before dawn.  Premature Scheduling: Courts were not permitted to convene before the morning sacrifice was offered. All three religious trials were concluded before this ritual took place.  Holiday Timing: No legal proceedings for capital cases were allowed on the eve of the Sabbath or during holy festivals, such as Passover. Jesus's trials occurred during this prohibited period.  Lack of Delay: Jewish law required a night to pass between a death sentence and its execution to allow for reconsideration; Jesus was condemned and executed within hours.  Judicial and Evidentiary Infractions Bribery: The acceptance of Judas Iscariot's thirty pieces of silver constituted a bribe, which invalidates any subsequent legal proceedings under Mosaic Law.  Self-Incrimination: The accused was not permitted to ask self-incriminating questions. The High Priest directly asked Jesus if He was the Messiah, leading to His own statement being used as the primary evidence for conviction.  Lack of Defense: The accused was denied the right to counsel or representation. Furthermore, the court refused to allow Jesus to call witnesses in His defense.  Invalid Indictment: The Sanhedrin originated the charges itself rather than investigating accusations brought by independent witnesses.  Proper procedure required two agreeing witnesses to formulate an indictment publicly. Sole Judge: The High Priest examined Jesus privately before the full court assembled, violating the rule that capital cases require a full panel and public examination. Acclamation Verdict: In capital cases, judges were required to vote individually. Jesus was condemned by acclamation (unanimous shout) rather than a formal, recorded vote.  Jurisdictional Errors Lack of Authority: The Sanhedrin lacked the jurisdiction to execute capital punishment under Roman rule; only the Roman governor had the authority to impose death sentences.  Charge Substitution: When brought before Roman authorities, the religious charge of blasphemy was replaced with political charges (treason, subverting the nation, and forbidding taxes) to secure a Roman conviction. (Brave Browser Generated Response)   Despite all of this, Jesus submitted to the ruling authorities, knowing that the tortures ahead were necessary to restore us to our heavenly Father. Today, take time to consider the love of God that would prompt Him to do what He did for us. When we face our own times of injustice, if we have the ability to appeal, we should use it.   However, it may be that we will have to endure unfair verdicts and unjust treatment as Christians. If we do, let us consider it an honor for the sake of His glorious name –   “So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.” Acts 5:41   Lord God, may we honor the glorious name of Jesus Christ our Lord in all we say and do. If we find we must bear injustice because of our faith in Him, strengthen us through the trial and give us wisdom to proceed in the manner that will most glorify You. Amen.
