Four-score and 157 episodes ago, we are back in the world of Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben as we ask what if the Fantastic Four all had the same powers? We start off with yet another telling of their origin story in Mythos: Fantastic Four by Paul Jenkins & Paolo Rivera before jumping into our central issue by Jimmy Valentino that features Sue becoming Man-Thing, the FF as members of SHIELD, Johnny as Mr. Fantastic and the FF accidentally killing a baby. Yes, a baby. We wrap up with Jonathan Hickman's revolutionary soft-reboot of Marvel's first family leading into the decade long arc of Secret Wars, which seems prime to be a touchstone for the upcoming First Steps. Grab your headphones and power of choice and join us! Ep. 157 What if the Fantastic Four all had the same power?from What If Vol. 2 #11 (Marvel, 1990)Find us at https://linktr.ee/dearwatchersWe are back in the world of both What If and the Fantastic Four that sees our heroes adopt new powers across a four-part issue from Image co-founder Jimmy Valentino. Before that, we kick things off with a beautifully painted version of the FF's origin story from the pen of Paul Jenkins and brush of Paolo Rivera. We end by discussing the FF's modern era courtesy Jonathan Hickman and Dale Eaglesham in a 2009 issue that kicks off the very long lead up to Secret War. Plus, we ponder why the Fantastic Four's origin store has been told so many times (or has it) and if the groups needs to have these specific powers. In which Jav and Charles have a deep and intricate discussion of the finer details of the Secret Six and Fantastic Four: Life Story. Just kidding, all they remembered about Secret Six was they liked it a lot and they got hung up arguing about why no mutants appeared in Fantastic Four. Jav complained a lot about their not being mutants to the point where he damned it with his greatest scorn, “I didn't like it as much as I thought I would.”Fantastic Four: Life Story Written by Mark Russell Art by Sean IzaakseSecret Six Written by Gail Simone Art by Dale Eaglesham

In "Gone Rogue," the latest episode, Nora West-Allen stole blueprints from a company named after her. In the very opening of the episode, Nora headed straight for G. Simone & Associates: Architecture, Planning, Interiors. There, she took the blueprints for McCulloch Technologies off the server, then fried it with her Speed Force lightning. Simone, of course, can be credited with bringing Rag Doll into the spotlight. In her cult classic run on The Secret Six with Dale Eaglesham, Rag Doll was an integral member of the team; the character quickly became a DC fan favorite after her run. Since Rag Doll was featured heavily in "Gone Rogue," it makes sense for Simone to get such a major shout-out. In addition to her work on The Secret Six, Simone is a prolific comic book writer. Her major credits include Birds of Prey, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Red Sonja, Deadpool, Leaving Megalopolis and Clean Room. She recently wrote Domino for Marvel Comics and now serves as chief architect for Lion Forge's superhero line, which makes her Flash namedrop all the more fitting. https://www.cbr.com/flash-gail-simone-reference/ NEXT EPISODE Link to Promo: https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/dc/arrow/arrow-everythings-about-to-explode-in-the-new-promo-for-season-7-episode-21-living-proof-a168064 (Date: 29 April 2019) Episode: “Living Proof” [Season 7 Episode 21] Air Date: Monday, May 6, 2019 Summary: Oliver finds himself in a precarious position. DISCUSSION INVASION! One of the most epic DC crossover events ever! Resilient. Overpowering. Unstoppable. By their very nature, our planet's superheroes have become a threat to the rest of the universe. Now, an alliance has formed between the fiercest, most calculating alien races to pursue a single goal: the elimination of Earth's guardians. As war erupts all over the world, Superman leads the charge against these would-be alien conquerors. Can our planet's greatest champions repel an army of invaders, each with the strength to rival the Man of Steel? One thing is certain: surrender is not an option! Commanding the troops are writers Keith Giffen (JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL, THE NEW 52: FUTURES END) and Bill Mantlo (The Incredible Hulk), with art by comics superstar Todd McFarlane (Spider-Man, Spawn) and Bart Sears (WARLORD).
