It’s shaping up to be the biggest weekend for families heading out to buy their Christmas trees, and Toluca Lake is buzzing with festive energy during the Dylan Keith Salon Holiday Walk Around. In an astonishing human achievement, a man who spent 27 years walking around the entire world is making headlines for his incredible journey. Southern California faced major disruptions as a police incident shut down sections of the 5 Freeway near Del Mar for hours, creating massive backups. One local business is dealing with back-to-back burglaries, adding to the chaos. Holiday festivities turned wild in Rancho Cucamonga, where the popular Thoroughbred Christmas lights drew huge crowds—and misbehavior. Some visitors were stuck in traffic for up to four hours, even causing issues along the horse trails, but it remains a beloved experience for families seeking holiday magic. Meanwhile, the entertainment world is still reeling from Netflix’s blockbuster acquisition of Warner Bros., a massive deal raising questions about the future of streaming, film, and Hollywood’s power structure. Reports also suggest the freeway shutdown in Del Mar Heights may be tied to a possible jumper, further contributing to severe traffic gridlock.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The 2026 World Cup Draw delivered fresh group pairings and global excitement, with Kevin Hart and Heidi Klum taking the stage as celebrity announcers. In a nostalgic twist, the moment echoed TV history: back in the 1950s, William Morris Agency didn’t even have a television division in Los Angeles until Phil Weltman launched it—later bringing in comedy legend Tim Conway. As the weekend approaches, most families are gearing up to buy their Christmas trees, while the entertainment world is buzzing over a seismic business move: Netflix is set to acquire Warner Bros. after its split from Discovery Global, at a massive $82.7 billion enterprise value. Meanwhile, nostalgia hits the board-game aisle as people rediscover old-school favorites—The Game of Life (complete with little blue and pink people) and Monopoly, reminding everyone that strategy and luck still rule the classics. In Los Angeles, journalist Elex Michaelson reported from Max & Helen’s Diner, a project created by Phil Rosenthal and iconic chef Nancy Silverton. Rosenthal—best known for creating Everybody Loves Raymond and hosting Netflix’s Emmy-nominated Somebody Feed Phil—is sparking talk of an Everybody Loves Raymond reunion as his popularity keeps climbing. And finally, dinner trends continue to evolve: with early-bird specials kicking off around 5 PM, families and diners are adjusting habits, while pizza orders shift toward fewer toppings and smaller sizes as people rethink budget, flavor, and simplicity.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The last year has seen the election of several women to positions of political leadership: Sanae Takaichi as Prime Minister of Japan, Catherine Connolly as President of Ireland, and Jennifer Geerlings-Simons as President of Suriname. But, a recent report has suggested that trust in women leaders is declining globally. The Reykjavik Index For Leadership measures how women and men are perceived in terms of their suitability for leadership, not just in politics but across many sectors of society. So is this part of a trend of declining trust in women in positions of power? Kylie Pentelow is joined by Lois Taylor, Global Marketing Director of Verian Group who published the report, and BBC business journalist and presenter of Moneybox Live Felicity Hannah to discuss.Columnist Sarah Vine started losing her hair as a teenager and was eventually diagnosed with female pattern baldness, a hormonal condition. But now she has decided, after 15 years of wearing wigs, to reveal her own hair on the front cover of a national newspaper. She spoke to Kylie about her decision to bare all. According to a recent poll by US analytics firm Gallup, 40% of American women aged 15 to 44 would move abroad if they had the opportunity, with the desire to migrate among younger American women quadrupling in the past decade. Kylie talks to Josephine Harmon, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Northeastern University in Boston, and Bonnie Beuke – now 45 with two young children - who lives in London having left Seattle one-and-a-half years ago.Four-time Olivier Award-winning actress, singer and director Maria Friedman is still best known to many as the narrator in the film of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. But this Christmas, her hugely acclaimed Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's musical Merrily We Roll Along, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff, is coming to cinemas. And Maria also stars in Tinsel Town, which sees Kiefer Sutherland play a washed-up Hollywood actor who ends up in a small town pantomime. Maria joins Kylie to talk about more than three decades on stage and screen, and spreading joy at Christmas. A quirky new romcom novel set against the sapphic dating scene is out. My Ex-Girlfriend's Wedding is about Hope, a folk musician who feels that she has nothing going for her: She's in a job she hates, has had to quit her band after losing the ability to play guitar; her very recent ex-girlfriend is now getting married. And so, she resolves there's nothing for it, but to accept an invitation to the wedding and try to win back the love of her life. Kylie asks Sophie Crawford about relationships with an ex, dating within the queer community and magic- all themes in her book.Presenter: Kylie Pentelow Producer: Corinna Jones

We welcome actress Erin Murphy, who spent her first eight years of life charming TV watchers as young Tabitha Stephens on Bewitched. Erin takes us behind the scenes at one of television's most beloved classics, sharing vivid memories from a childhood spent witnessing the creation of Hollywood magic.Erin and her fraternal twin sister Diane were originally cast together to share the role of Tabitha, following child labor laws which severely limit the number of hours a toddler can spend working. But, as Erin reveals with a laugh, in the 1960s, rules were “suggestions.” Erin was the twin who took to the craft of acting and she was often brought right back to the set while producers pretended to swap her out. Soon, Erin became the show's singular Tabitha.Erin recalls the delight of working with fantastical props, whimsical effects, and a cast she adored. A natural performer, she memorized not only her own lines but everyone else's, and she truly cherishes her time on the set. Erin and Diane were treated with kindness and respect and were even given Donna Reed's former dressing room where the amenities of home gave them space for play and nap time. Erin's success on Bewitched soon led to appearances on other iconic shows, including Lassie.Erin is coming with “two Darrins” insights. She worked with Dick York and Dick Sargent for three years each and she  shares a touching story about reconnecting with the original Darrin, Dick York, years later through the Kevin and Bean morning radio show. She weighs in on whether Bewitched can be read as a metaphor for being different or even being closeted and she opines on why the show still resonates today as a fun, campy, nostalgic, yet surprisingly modern-feeling classic.Erin also recalls the many rising stars who made early Bewitched appearances and she shares thoughts on why she never truly  connected with Paul Lynde. She reflects on a groundbreaking episode, written by high-school students, that confronted racism. The story involves Tabitha and her best friend Lisa who is black. When told by an adult that they  could never be sisters, Tabitha uses witchcraft to turn them both polka dotted. Erin identifies this as Elizabeth Montgomery's favorite episode. After her early TV career, Erin enjoyed a normal childhood in Orange County before returning to the entertainment world as a host and reality-show participant in projects like Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Wrestling and RuPaul's Drag U. She went on to raise six children, including a son with autism, and has devoted herself to community service and volunteerism. Erin even launched her own alpaca farm, and turned it into a thriving business selling knit goods! This TV icon is as endearing as she is inspiring and Erin's Hollywood and beyond journey is a testament to her grace, charm and character. In current media --Weezy: One Shot With Ed Sheeran on NetflixFritz: The American Revolution from Ken BurnsPath Points of Interest:Erin Murphy on FacebookErin Murphy on InstagramErin Murphy on WikipediaErin Murphy on IMDBOne Shot With Ed Sheeran on NetflixThe American Revolution - PBS

The Inside Story Of Detroit's RoboCop Statue

    Daily Detroit

Detroit has a RoboCop statue. I watched it go in myself on Wednesday. It's a real thing. An amazingly detailed, 10-foot tall, 2.5 ton bronze behemoth will be greeting future generations coming to Eastern Market.  For more of the story, I sat down with three of the key people who refused to let this long-running project die: Filmmaker and original organizer Brandon Walley Producer and Free Age co-owner Jim Toscano  Omni Consumer Products' "defictionalizer-in-chief" Pete Hottelet Together, we unpack how a jokey tweet comparing Detroit to Philadelphia's Rocky statue turned into a nearly decade and a half odyssey that pulled in Hollywood effects legends, local foundry artisans, a major studio, and countless twists and turns. Brandon explains how the idea leapt from a viral Facebook page into a real public art commission through the old Imagination Station, and why the team was adamant that the statue be made in Detroit.  He walks through the early missteps, the learning curve on how you actually build a 10-foot bronze figure, and the multi-year collaboration with Venus Bronze Works, the shop behind many of Detroit's landmark sculptures. Pete gets into the legal and technical hurdles: getting MGM on board, putting up his own money to show good faith, and insisting on screen-accurate detail by restoring Peter Weller's original armor from a warehouse in Houston with artist Mark Dubois and the legendary Tippett Studio. One of the most interesting points for me, from a community perspective, is that he talks about "defictionalizing" Robocop's Directive One — serve the public trust — by turning the statue's plaque itself into a QR code that can connect visitors to community causes, donating straight from their phones. Jim shares how Free Age became Robocop's eventual "roommate" after other locations, including the Science Center, fell through during the pandemic.  He and Walley talk about the symbolism of placing Robocop on the edge of Eastern Market as a welcoming figure, arm extended, and how they're bracing — in a good way — for fans who donated years ago, people honoring loved ones, and visitors from around the world to show up on their Russell Street patio. Throughout, the group reflects on the grind of seeing a wild idea through nearly 15 years, the friendships and collaboration that kept it alive, and what it means for Detroit to finally have a pop-culture monument that is both deeply nerdy and deeply rooted in the city's perseverance and generosity. You're not going to want to miss this conversation, or your chance to see a bit of movie history right here in the Motor City.
