Crawling out of the swamp to close out Season 3, Eric and Bradford are joined by Broadway actor-musician Matt Saldivar for a rollicking discussion of Neil Jordan's grand guignol ode to undying love. With a cast headed by Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt as comedy duo Lestat and Louis, interesting turns from Kirsten Dunst, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, and Stephen Rea, Anne Rice adapting her novel, and great effects work by Stan Winston, there's enough baroque to ba-reak the bank... but is it, as one character says, "of the Mississippi"? An uneven tone, plot threads that go nowhere, and SO MUCH FIRE threaten to sink the #1 horror movie of 1994, but not even THIS podcast can keep a bloodthirsty creature of the night down. Welcome to Director Watch! On this AwardsWatch podcast, co-hosts Ryan McQuade and Jay Ledbetter attempt to breakdown, analyze, and ultimately, get inside the mind of some of cinema's greatest auteurs. In doing so, they will look at their filmographies, explore what drives them artistically and what makes their decision-making process so fascinating. Add in a few silly tangents and a fun game at the end of the episode and you've got yourself a podcast we truly hope you love. On episode 44 of the Director Watch Podcast, the boys are joined by Lead News Editor for Collider Maggie Lovitt to discuss the next film in their Sofia Coppola series, The Beguiled (2017). Four years after her most modern film to date, Sofia Coppola swerved back into a historical dramatic setting with The Beguiled, a remake of the 1971 Southern Gothic thriller set in Virginia during the American Civil War. When a young girl finds a wounded Union soldier right outside her all-girls school where she lives with several other women of various ages, the ladies nice, quiet way of life is turned upside down by the arrival of this sensual, seductive, ultimately menacing presence. Led by an all-star cast that includes Nicole Kidman, Kristen Dunst, Elle Fanning, and Colin Farrell, Coppola dives beautifully and patiently into the physiological nature of what it is like when a figure like this infuriates these women's lives and how their nature and unnatural responses to this soldier's inclusion in their life speaks to their basic human desires, and how temptation can overwhelm and get the best of them when it is all said and done. Ryan, Jay, and Maggie break down their reactions to the film, its connections to the original film, where it ranks in Coppola's filmography, Farrell and Kidman's career retrospective, how devilish Farrell's character is in the film, and if her second attempt at a period piece is just as successful as Marie Antoinette. You can listen to the Director Watch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, iHeartRadio, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music and more. This podcast runs 2h01m. The guys will be back next week to begin their new series covering the films of Sofia Coppola with a review of her next film, On the Rocks. You can stream the film on Apple TV+ rental in preparation for the next episode of Director Watch. Till then, let's get into it. Book: Interview With A Vampire By Anne Rice Film: Interview With A Vampire (1994)   Anne Rice's debut novel from 1976 is a gothic vampire novel which initially was released with mixed reviews.  It is based on a short story by Anne Rice following the life and after life of Louis de Pont du Lac.  Anne Rice's daughter died shortly before writing and her daughter became the inspiration for Claudia.   The book series would spawn eleven sequels and share the same universe as the Mayfair Witches and the Mummy.  The book has been published a graphic novel on three different occasions. Directed by Neil Jordan and starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas and a young Kristen Dunst, the film would be a critical and commercial success.  Originally there was trepidation on the part of Anne Rice on the casting of Tom Cruise but she would come around after seeing the finished product.  Due to homophobia at the time of making, Louis was going to be changed to a female and star Cher who wrote the song Lover's Forever for the film.  The song was rejected once Brad Pitt was secure in the role and the song would be released on her album Closer to the Truth as a pop dance mix.   Opening Credits; Introduction (.58); Plot Synopsis (13.45); Forming the Plot (14.45); Book Thoughts (20.21); Rating a Book (1:00.55); Introducing a Film (1:04.35); Film Trailer (1:05.59);  Lights, Camera, Action (1:08.29); Epilogue (1:31.15); End Credits (1:39.10); Closing Credits (1:41.30)   Opening Credits– Classical Jingle by Dan Hughes   Closing Credits – Symphony For the Devil by The Rolling Stones.  Taken from the album Beggars Banquet.  Copyright 1968 Decca Records   Original Music copyrighted 2020 Dan Hughes Music and the Literary License Podcast.    All rights reserved.   All songs used by Kind Permission.   All songs available on Amazon.

Ready for a nostalgic ride down the web-slinging lanes of Spider-Man movies? We've got a lively debate in store for you as we critique the casting choices of our beloved characters, especially the casting of Mary Jane. Find out if we think Kristen Dunst was a good fit or if Alyssa Donovan from Clueless or Gwen Stacy from the third Spider-Man movie would have been a better choice.Hold onto your seats as we journey back in time, discussing the chaotic evolution of Spider-Man in film from the 60s to the 2000s. We reveal wild plot ideas that were proposed in the 80s, the upheaval during the production of Spider-Man 3, and the potential actors who could have donned the Spider-Man suit, from Tom Cruise to Leonardo DiCaprio. And, oh, we're not stopping there! We're comparing the current Spider-Man, Tom Holland, to the previous actors, and believe us, we've got some thoughts on his fit for the role.As we swing forward, we scrutinize the performance of the Spider-Man films at the box office and uncover striking similarities between the first Spider-Man movie and Tim Burton's Batman. We've got some strong opinions on why Martin Sheen was a great choice for Uncle Ben and how the introduction of biology in the second movie played out. Plus, we explore the intriguing character of Bubba Fett, the astronomical success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and how it stacks up against Zach Snyder's Justice League. So strap in, fellow Marvel fans, for this action-packed episode!

Today, it's going to be Spidey, aka Spider-man. We will talk about this hit film and some facts that you didn't know about. So ready for the ride then? Here we go!1. Tobey Maguire had to undergo a rigid five-month routine of workout and martial arts six times a week to build a good physique required for his role in the film. He also included a high protein meal, four to six times a day.2. After the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US, Sony promptly recalled the movie posters which revealed a close-up of Spider-Man's face with the New York skyline prominently featuring the World Trade Centre towers reflecting in his eyes. However, not all the posters could be recovered, and the ones at large are now for sale and surely a must-have for any poster collector.3. In the very famous upside-down kissing scene between Tobey Maguire and Kristen Dunst in the movie, Tobey faced a huge challenge while shooting for the scene, where he was hung upside down and the rain sprinklers turned on. Halfway through the filming, while Maguire and Dunst were kissing, Maguire started coughing as the rainwater filled up his nose and made him suffocate.4. Steven R Kutcher, the American Entomologist, used the Steatoda spider for filming the genetically modified spider in the movie. The spider was painted red and blue by Jens Schnabel while it was on anaesthesia, which was colour coordinated with Spider-Man's outfit.Well that was some lesser-known facts and trivia about Spider-man for today, I shall be back again with a new film or show in the next podcast, Until then it's your host Nikhil out here

A story about a child murder plot (in that a child was both the victim and the murderer) anchored by a barely-there Steve Guttenberg and a very present Kristen Dunst, all set in a spooky Hollywood Hotel which for some reason was allowed to remain abandoned for sixty years rather than bought up and redeveloped. A year where Y2K freaked everyone out, Shakespeare in Love won Best Picture at the Oscars (and made us collectively groan) and many films helped kick off a new influx of copycats - here's looking at you, The Blair Witch Project. For this episode we've both chosen five films from 1999 that we feel are worth seeking out and it contains many a black comedy, a couple of films by established directors that seem like odd choices and a decided influx of Kristen Dunst movies. However, as always, we first talk about what we've been watching including ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, Charles Bronson vs. a constantly naked killer, Karyn Kusama's DESTROYER, a bizarro effort from the director of the Sleepaway Camp sequels, Umberto Lenzi's ALMOST HUMAN and much, much more! Thanks for listening! New Podcast with Actor Glen Powell! In this installation of "Kahnversations," we interview Glen Powell. Recently described by The Hollywood Reporter as the “Next Big Thing,” Glen Powell is well on his way to becoming one of tinsel towns’ most sought after actors. Glen just finished filming the FOX feature HIDDEN FIGURES. Powell will star as famed astronaut John Glenn in the historically focused film. The plot centers on a group of women responsible for providing NASA with important statistical data needed to launch the program’s first successful space mission. Powell will share the screen with Kevin Costner, Kristen Dunst, Jim Parsons, Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer. The film is currently slated for a January 2017 release. Up next for Powell is the second season of the FOX hit SCREAM QUEENS. Powell will reprise his fan favorite role of Chad Radwell, President of the Dickie Dollars Scholars. The Ryan Murphy show proved to be a critic and fan favorite among the Fall 2015 freshman class. Also upcoming for Powell is THE SET UP, starring opposite Emilia Clarke. The MGM film is currently in pre-production but slated for a 2017 release. This past December, Powell wrapped production on the Iraq War drama SAND CASTLE. Further proving his acting chops, Powell will star opposite action heavy weights Henry Cavil, Nicholas Holt and Luke Evans. The film follows an American military unit on a mission to repair a water system in the turbulent Iraqi village of Baqubah. Powell plays Sgt. Falvy, a tough-minded and foul-mouthed solider hailing from the south. The film is slated for a late 2016 release. 2016 is proving to be the year of Powell as he has been featured in two major motion pictures including April’s critically acclaimed film EVERYBODY WANTS SOME, directed by Richard Linklater. The Paramount Pictures’ film, set in the '80’s, follows a college freshman who rolls with some colorful baseball players. The highly anticipated film is being referred to as the spiritual sequel to Linklater’s cult classic film “Dazed And Confused.” Additionally, Glen was seen in January’s comedy RIDE ALONG 2, opposite funnyman Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, portraying a lethal drug-lord on the streets of Atlanta. Powell will be seen in BEYOND DECEIT, alongside silver screen royalty Sir Anthony Hopkins and Al Pacino. The independent film is slated for a late 2016 release. In 2014, Glen co-starred with Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Jason Statham and Harrison Ford in THE EXPENDABLES 3. He joined the ranks as an expert hacker and drone pilot named Thron, singular to none in his intensity and agility. Powell was also seen in the independent thriller, WIND WALKERS, from director Russell Friendenberg. Other film credits include the independent comedy SEX ED, opposite Hayley Joel Osment, RED WING, starring alongside Bill Paxton, as well as the final installment of the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, opposite Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway. This November, he will be honored as a rising star at the Napa Valley Film Festival. When not in production, Glen resides in Los Angeles. There are so many inspiring podcasts with fabulous stars out there. But their careers feel light years away from ours, don’t they? Wouldn’t it be great to hear from the guy who just booked his first pilot? Or the kid finally doing a studio pic after a bunch of low budget indies? Or the woman who’s been a series regular a few times but is only now becoming a name? What about the guy who’s been on a show for years and you know his face but what’shisnameagain? Or that actress who is now a freakin’ showrunner???? How’d THEY do it, right? How did they transition from relative obscurity, bartending and bottle service, to buying that house in Brentwood? We’re producing “Kahnversations,” a podcast that provides access to THOSE people -- your immediate predecessors -- so that you can learn from them while their battle scars are still fresh. In “Kahnversations,” our own Ryan Bailey interviews some of Lesly Kahn & Company’s working actors, directors, and writers in order to learn how they got started in Hollywood, the challenges and hurdles they faced, and how they overcame the odds. (They also dish out some crazy stories!) Listen in and enjoy as these entertainers speak candidly about their paths, processes, and experiences. You might even hear a bit about how Lesly and the Kahnstitute have influenced and shaped their careers.
