We welcome the amazing Julia Zuccardi of Santa Julia Wines to the show! There are many reasons why a winery chooses its name. In this case, Santa Julia was inspired by Julia herself, the first daughter of José Zuccardi. However, it also serves as a way to showcase their values, history, and the community they are part of.As a family, the Zuccardi's are committed to the land and their people because they believe that the community that forms their winery begins with the growth of the vine and extends to the growth and progress of their team, always striving for a better world with more opportunities.RSo, once again, Santa Julia is named for Julia herself. However, today she is very proud to say that there are many people who, day by day, make her winery a better place!See more on santajulia.com.arYou can also download the free Urban Wine Club app!

Since the early 2010s, over a million Rohingyas have found refuge in Bangladesh. A Muslim minority persecuted in their native Myanmar, the Rohingyas suffered the deadliest crackdown by the junta there back in 2017. The UN has described those abuses as genocide. In retaliation, some Rohingyas armed themselves against the junta to defend their community. But in refugee camps in Bangladesh, clashes have been reported between two such Rohingya armed groups, the RSO and the ARSA, leaving refugees caught in the crossfire. Nearly 150 people have been reported killed in the past two years. Our regional correspondents Lisa Gamonet, Nabeel Ahmed and Navodita Kumari report.
The RA Exchange wraps up 2024 with an episode dedicated solely to vinyl culture, from dubplate production to record store culture, all-vinyl DJing and running labels that release records. In the first part of this episode, which was recorded live at Wire Festival, panelists and vinyl DJs Mary Yuzovskaya, Clarisa Kimskii and Devoye Folkes discuss the benefits and drawbacks of playing records in the digital era with RA editor Gabriel Szatan. According to the panelists, playing vinyl could be seen as a skill analogous to driving stick shift: while it's not always necessary, it gives new artists a better understanding of a DJ set's underlying machinery. They also talk about how a DJ's identity used to be intertwined with their personal collection of records, and how the digital paradigm shift presents today's DJs with infinite choices. The Exchange's second half takes listeners behind the scenes, investigating the challenges and opportunities inherent in running a business based on vinyl sales. Live from Wall to Wall Festival at RSO, HHV Records, Bandcamp Berlin, Objects Manufacturing and Elevate Record Store speak to the overhead investment, production time and ecological considerations they take into account in their day-to-day operations. They also shed light on the statistics behind the enormous sales of vinyl records in the past few years and the breakdown of which artists are making money from digital versus physical music sales and why. Listen to the episode in full.

Hans Wurman, “Overture Miniature” from Electric Nutcracker (1976 Ovation). This Austrian composer made several remarkable, classically influenced Moog Modular albums from 1969 to 1976. This was one of his last big Moog projects and is difficult to find. 2:54 02:54 04:32 2. Hans Wurman, “Danse De La Fee-Dragee ( Sugar Plum Fairy)” from Electric Nutcracker (1976 Ovation). Moog Modular synthesizer, Hans Wurman. 1:33 01:33 07:24 3. Hans Wurman, “Danse Des Mirlitons (Flutes)” from Electric Nutcracker (1976 Ovation). Moog Modular synthesizer, Hans Wurman. 2:14 02:14 08:56 4. Emerson, Lake & Palmer, “Nutrocker” from Nutrocker / The Great Gates Of Kiev (1972 Cotillion). Arranged by, Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Written by Kim Fowley. 03:48 11:08 5. Sounds Of Broadcasting 2, “Night Of The Kings” from Sounds Of Broadcasting #6088 (1975? William B. Tanner Company, Inc.). Broadcast library track produced for the holidays. Produced using a Moog Modular Synthesizer. 01:01 14:56 6. Jean Jacques Perrey and Sy Mann, “Jingle Bells” from Switched on Santa (1970 Pickwick). USA. Moog Modular Synthesizer. 01:44 15:56 7. Jean Jacques Perrey and Sy Mann, “Christmas Bells” from Switched on Santa (1970 Pickwick). USA. Moog Modular Synthesizer. 01:52 17:40 8. Douglas Leedy, “The Coventry Carol” from A Very Merry Electric Christmas to You (1970 Capitol). USA. Moog Modular Synthesizer and Buchla Synthesizer. 04:46 19:30 9. Joseph Byrd, “Christmas in the Morning” from A Christmas Yet to Come (1975 Takoma). USA. ARP 2600 Synthesizer with an Oberheim Expander Module. 01:34 24:16 10. Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer. 07:02 30:32 12. Alan Horsey, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” from Switched-On Christmas (1985 Snowflake Records). Italian album with electric organ by Alan Horsey. This is reminiscent of Hooked on Classics as the entire album seems to be woven together by a drum machine beat. This is played on organ. Seems a little late for disco. 03:10 37:30 13. Denny Hinman, “Christmas in July” from Plays The Yamaha Electone E-70 (1980 Yamaha). Denny Hinman plays the Yamaha Electone E-70. A release by Yamaha. 01:45 40:36 14. Japanese synth-pop with vocals by Onuki. Maybe Ryuichi Sakamoto on keyboards. 03:44 46:02 16. Frank Collett, “Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring (1970 Privately Made Release). USA. This is a special addition to the Merry Moog podcast. I found what is likely a one-of-a-disc private pressing by Frank Collett using the Moog Modular Synthesizer. This 45 RPM disc was recorded at Finetone Recording Studio in New York City and is inscribed with the hand-written message, “To John & Loretta: Merry XMAS. Composed and arranged by Frank Collett” This appears to be disc made of metal with a vinyl coating. One side includes his rendition of Bach's “Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring” plus a short tune called “Little Joey” (see below). The flip side contains the same recording of “Little Joey.” Dated December 22, 1970. Clearly made using a Moog Modular Synthesizer. Collett (1941-2016) was a noted session pianist and sometimes led and recorded with his own trio. He was raised in New York. In 1968 he was accompanist to Sarah Vaughan. The following year he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. He became the house pianist, with the orchestra in the main showroom of the International Hotel (which became the Las Vegas Hilton). It was during this period that he made this recording in NY. 01:57 49:44 17. Frank Collett, “Little Joey” (1970 Privately Made Release). Frank Collett using the Moog Modular Synthesizer. From a 45 RPM disc recorded at Finetone Recording Studio in New York City (see above). Dated December 22, 1970. Clearly made using a Moog Modular Synthesizer. Collett (1941-2016) was a noted session pianist and sometimes led and recorded with his own trio. Moog Modular Synthesiser, Frank Collett. Whose Moog Synthesizer did he use to make this recording? I can only speculate and guess that he made the recording at the studio of Gerson Kingsley in New York. 01:56 51:40 18. Romantic Synthesizer, “Oh Tannenbaum” from Christmas Memories (1983 Dureco Benelux). French-Dutch album. Arranged, produced, synthesizers by Gerto Heupink, Robert Pot. 02:53 53:34 19. Keiko Ohta (Ota), “Here Comes Santa Claus” from Electone X'Mas Present (1975 Canyon). Yamaha Electone GX-707 (GX-1), arranged by Keiko Ohta. Ohta was a female Electone star from Japan. The GX-1 was an early polyphonic synthesizer and a new branch of the Yamaha Electone family tree. 02:43 56:24 20. Keiko Ohta (Ota), “Blue Christmas” from Electone X'Mas Present (1975 Canyon). Yamaha Electone GX-707 (GX-1), arranged by Keiko Ohta. Japan. Yes, the song originally made famous by Elvis Presley. Ohta was a female Electone star from Japan. The GX-1 was an early polyphonic synthesizer and a new branch of the Yamaha Electone family tree. 04:11 59:06 21. Paul Haig, “Scottish Christmas” from Chantons Noël - Ghosts Of Christmas Past (1981 Les Disques Du Crépuscule). From a compilation album of Christmas-related tunes. Scottish songwriter, musician and singer. 02:46 01:03:16 22. Les Cousins Dangereux, “What Child Is This” from Gotta Groove Records 2012 (2012 Gotta Groove Records). Holiday album with various artists. Les Cousins Dangereux is Mr. Tim Thornton. 01:59 01:06:00 23. Joy Electric, “Angels We Have Heard on High” from The Magic Of Christmas (2003 Tooth & Nail Records). Joy Electric is Ronnie Martin from Ohio. American synthesizer-pop musician. Among his many releases is this crafty Christmas album. 01:48 01:07:58 24. Koichi Oki, “Jingle Bells” from The Man From Yukiguni (1975 TIM/RS). Japan. Koichi Oki's Christmas album performed solely by his Yamaha Electone E-3. “Yukiguni” means snowland. Oki was a hugely popular Electone artist in Japan. 01:50 01:09:46 25. Koichi Oki, “Winter Wonderland” from The Man From Yukiguni (1975 TIM/RS). Japan. Koichi Oki's Christmas album performed solely by his Yamaha Electone E-3. “Yukiguni” means snowland. Oki was a hugely popular Electone artist in Japan. 02:18 01:11:34 26. Edhels, “Oriental Christmas” from Oriental Christmas (1985 Cabana Music). Recorded in France. Drums, Percussion, Keyboards, Jacky Rosati; Guitar, Jean Louis Suzzoni; Guitar, Bass, Keyboards, Composed by, Marc Ceccotti; Keyboards, Noël Damon. I was sent this as a promotional album back in 1985 with a kind little note from the artists. Sorry it took me so long to put the Christmas-related track in my podcast. This is great example of synth-pop from France in the 1980s. 04:22 01:13:52 27. Bob Wehrman, John Bezjian and Dusty Wakeman, “Joy to the World” from Christmas Becomes Electric (1984 Tropical Records). Produced in L.A., a collection of pre-fab synthesizer classics. Not the same record of the same title as Douglas Leedy. 02:40 01:18:12 28. Bob Wehrman, John Bezjian and Dusty Wakeman, “Ring Christmas Bells” from Christmas Becomes Electric (1984 Tropical Records). Produced in L.A., a collection of pre-fab synthesizer classics. Not the same record of the same title as Douglas Leedy. 01:46 01:20:50 29. Romantic Synthesizer, “So This is Christmas” from Christmas Memories (1983 Dureco Benelux). French-Dutch album. Arranged, produced, synthesizers by Gerto Heupink, Robert Pot. We don't often hear an instrumental rendition of this Lennon and Ono X-mas tune. 03:22 01:22:34 30. Swinging Buildings, “Praying For A Cheaper Christmas” from Chantons Noël - Ghosts Of Christmas Past (1981 Les Disques Du Crépuscule). From a compilation album of Christmas-related tunes. This group was once rumored to be New Order in disguise. But no, they were in fact The Bowling Balls in disguise. 03:07 01:25:54 31. Bernie Krause, Philip Aaberg, “Feliz Navidad” from A Wild Christmas (1994 Etherean Music ). This delightful cassette is from Bernie Krause, known for his Moog explorations with Paul Beaver back in the day. All animal and ambient sounds recorded on location worldwide by Bernie Krause with the exception of the fish (courtesy of U.S. Navy). Animal samples, Bernie Krause and Phil Aaberg. Arrangements, new materials, all keyboards (Kurzweil 2000/Emulator III) Phil Aaberg. Percussion on Feliz Navidad performed by Ben Leinbach. 5:37 05:37 01:28:58 32. The Original Cast: R2-D2, Anthony Daniels As C-3PO, “R2D2 We Wish You A Merry Christmas” from Christmas In The Stars: Star Wars Christmas Album (1980 RSO). Vocals, Arthur Boller, Donald Oriolo, Jr., Dori Greenberg, Ivy Alexenburg, Jake Yeston, Jessica Taylor, Marney Alexenburg, Ricky Haayen, Roddy McBrien, Russell Poses, Scot Randell, Stacy Greenberg; Keyboards, Derek Smith, Harold Wheeler, Pat Rebillot; Sound Effects (R2D2), Ben Burtt. The whole Star Wars crew seems to have a part in this holiday album. I wanted to highlight a track featuring the melodious electronic beeping of R2D2. 03:33 01:34:34 Opening background music: Sounds Of Broadcasting 1, “Christmas Logos” from Sounds Of Broadcasting #6088 (1975? William B. Tanner Company, Inc.). Broadcast library track produced for the holidays. Produced using a Moog Modular Synthesizer. Notice how the melody imitates a familiar tune without ever hitting the same notes. A copyright thing. Another name of this track might as well be, “It's Beginning to Sound A Lot Like Christmas.” Jean Jacques Perrey and Sy Mann, “Tijuana Christmas” from Switched on Santa (1970 Pickwick). USA. Moog Modular Synthesizer. Don Voegeli, “Chanukah” from Holiday & Seasonal Music (1977 EMI). USA. Produced at the Electrosonic Studio of the University of Wisconsin-Extension. Opening and closing sequences voiced by Anne Benkovitz. Visual design by Anne Benkovitz. Additional opening, closing, and other incidental music by Thom Holmes. See my companion blog that I write for the Bob Moog Foundation. For additional notes, please see my blog, Noise and Notations. Original music by Thom Holmes can be found on iTunes and Bandcamp.

Send us a textSince 2016, I've had the chance to speak with people whose lives have changed in many ways thanks to cannabis. Even with all those stories in our library, Linda Solana's story still stands out. A longtime cannabis consumer, it was a cancer diagnosis in 2014 that made her look deeper into how the plant can help her past just getting high. The Cuban-American business owner found healing in cannabis- which led her to open a business in cannabis Cannavibes in New Jersey. We spoke with Linda about the first time she discovered cannabis and how she used it, facing cancer, using RSO oil, and opening her own shop. Listen to our full interview. Kostas aka AgainstMe is a Berlin-based Greek DJ, producer, and co-founder of SOCIETY 3000, as well as a core member of USM Recordings. His journey into electronic music began at just 17, when he started releasing music under a different alias, experimenting with a variety of electronic genres. However, it wasn't until his first rave and techno parties on his home island of Lesvos in 2017 that he found his true musical identity, and AgainstMe was born. The AgainstMe project draws inspiration from the struggle to align with one's inner voice, a journey Kostas deeply resonates with. Techno, with its hypnotic melodies, heavy drum patterns, and ritualistic energy, provided him with a revolutionary and unifying sound, something that stood in contrast to everything he had experienced before. Since then, his sound has evolved, and his releases have gained international recognition. Notable works include the EP Tension Seeker on Warok Records, the album Synopsis on Subsist Records, and UNCERTAIN on Immaterial.Archives. His music has received support from influential platforms such as 6AM, Hate, Monument, Electronic Groove, and Beater, as well as from respected artists like DVS1, Umwelt, Sev Dah, Rodhad, Kangding Ray, K-Hand, Mikael Delta, Richie Hawtin, and Marco Bailey. As a DJ, Kostas has performed at renowned venues and parties, including Tresor, RSO, Fuchs2, Qreclaim, Astron Bar, Six D.O.G.S, and SMUT Athens. For the tenth episode of There Is No Planet Earth Stories, I'm joined by guest Alan Oldham representing stories from Detroit.ALAN OLDHAM has been called “Detroit's Renaissance Man,” equally as known for his art as for his music under the pseudonym DJ T-1000. The Detroit-born polymath, now living and working in Berlin, began his dual careers in the late 80s. First as the host of the “Fast Forward Program” on WDET FM 101.9, Detroit's first-ever radio show devoted exclusively to electronic music, and as a young indie comic artist, writing and drawing his own original creation, “Johnny Gambit” (predating the Marvel character). Oldham was later tapped by his childhood friend, Derrick May, to illustrate the label art for the now-classic records “Nude Photo” and “Beyond The Dance” on his fledgling Transmat label, and Detroit Techno history was made. Oldham was later hired by another childhood friend, Jeff Mills, to do freelance PR for the nascent Underground Resistance collective, writing press releases for the label. When Mills departed for a solo career, UR partner “Mad” Mike Banks tapped AO to replace him as DJ for their Australian Tour of 1992. The codename DJ T-1000 was adopted, and history was made once again. Jumpstart to infamy.Since then, as an international DJ, Oldham has spun all over the planet, as far afield as Tokyo, Manila, The Phillipines, and Shanghai. When he's not behind the decks at home clubs Tresor Berlin and RSO, on the road to places like Batumi, Georgia or Trapani, Italy, or in the studio making music for labels like RSPX/Rekids, BPitch Berlin, Suspected Music, Third Ear, Elypsia Records, or his own Pure Sonik Records label, he is making new paintings and organizing art openings showcasing his iconic works. Oldham has put on art happenings in Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Vienna, and Detroit, as well as his iconic techno artworks being on view in Paris, London and Dusseldorf, as part of its traveling “Electronic: From Kraftwerk to the Chemical Brothers” exhibit. The multi-talented Oldham has also made his artistic debut in Kobe, Japan in 2022 with the exhibit “Massive Dynamic” at the Nick Jerky Art Cafe. In 2024, Oldham was also honored by the Mayor and Detroit City Council with a “Spirit of Detroit” Award for his musical and artistic contributions to his hometown. And back in Berlin, as part of Love Parade founder Dr. Motte's Rave The Planet team, Oldham helped Berlin Techno to achieve UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status. Oldham's long-awaited EP as DJ T-1000 for Rekids sub-label RSPX is out now, as well as his new “Ask Me No Questions And I'll Tell You No Lies” EP on Pure Sonik Records, currently riding high on several Spotify techno charts including Mary Anne Hobbs' on BBC6. Aside from products, Bill and Jeff dove into cannabis journalism they have been in still are one of the best sources to get updates on the cannabis world not only in our country, but around the world as well. Stuart and Cristiano return for the fourth season with 1981's 'Living Eyes'. In the midst of legal affairs with RSO, a disco backlash, and a shake-up to the recording style and personnel which had accompanied the Gibbs over the previous five years, the resulting album, which also had a smash-hit predecessor in 'Spirits Having Flown' to live up to, was always going to suffer. And although the album struggled commercially and critically, and subsequently dismissed by the Brothers Gibb, it has gone on to become a fan favourite. A return to natural voices, orchestral bombast and the triumphant return of Robin and Maurice on lead vocals make this album a special one. In this first part, Stuart and Cristiano discuss the context of the album's recording, and the five songs that comprise side one.Tim Roxborogh - 'Living Eyes at 40' - Barry Gibb With Tim Roxborogh On The 40th Anniversary Of Living Eyes - 2021 - YouTubeVocal split extracts created through LALAL.AI: Vocal Remover & Instrumental AI Splitter | LALAL.AIFollow the podcast on Instagram and Facebook @wordsbeegeespodcast, and on Twitter / X @wordsbeegeespod. V rannom vysielaní sme sa odhlasovali so skratkou RTVS a nie STVR. No a ako to dnes vyzeralo v slovenskom rozhlase v podcaste opisuje šéfka zahraničnej radakcie Rádiožurnálu Soňa Weissová. „Atmosféra je tu normálna, pracovná. Kolegovia pracujú ďalej, pretože sú profesionáli. Ak si niekto predstavoval, že je tu paralýza alebo chaos, tak to nie je. No napríklad v rannom vysielaní sme sa odhlasovali so skratkou RTVS a nie STVR.

Fifteen-year-old Sebastian Rogers was reported missing on Monday, February 26, 2024. His mother, who was supposedly the only parent home with Sebastian at the time of his disappearance, has said he left the house barefoot with just a flashlight in hand. It's been two months now, and still no sign of Sebastian. At this point, the crazy circus that tends to happen in these missing child case has erupted. We've got a guy claiming he has Sebastian, and of course, this person is asking for money. We have an RSO searching for Sebastian. Our girl for all seasons Eureka O'Hara joins me to talk the mirth, magic and mayhem of the undercover feminist cult classic GREASE 2! We get into what a T-Bird could mean these days, the majesty of Michelle Pfeiffer, shooting dance numbers before the songs are ready, the chaotic grandiosity of producer & impresario Allan Carr, the impact of RSO & Robert Stigwood on our culture, fan theories about Grease's Sandy - and our own theories about Frenchie, John Travolta, Maxwell Caulfield's brief moment of Hollywood Heat, Cool Rider and much much more. With Ukrainian roots growing up in Berlin, Chontane started playing in his city's clubs at the mere age of 19. Starting things off with a residency at the Krach nights in Humboldthain and now having played for some of the most prestigious clubs such as Basement, KALT, Tresor, Radion & BRET in Amsterdam, Blitz, Fuse club in Brussels, and RSO in Berlin, Chontane can be increasingly found blurring the lines between techno, breaks, and electro in cities around the word. Part of the new wave of producers more invested in sound design and razorsharp productions than ever before, Chontane's early studies in music and sound design allow for surgical precision; his fascination for sound in general can be heard in his records. He gives body to his work and has been pulling together tribal and groovy techniques inspired by the classic 90s and early 2000s club records to create density and effect on the dancefloor. His work stands at a stylistic crossroads between various dance genres, easily slipping into just about anyone's track list if their goal is to get people moving. Since his debut release in 2018, Chontane has garnered praise and support, leaving a lasting impact on the industry. Notably, he has released two highly anticipated records on ARTS Records, showcasing his versatility and talent. Additionally, he launched his own label, TANE, and recently released a second EP on the rapidly rising label, Mutual Rytm, associated with Shadow & Obscure Shape. With his roots grown deep in the world's techno capital, Chontane's career is well on its way to becoming international, having joined the Paramount roster this year. Ready to push boundaries and surprise music enthusiasts with unexpected blends to fire off his erratic taste in music, Chontane's mixes and productions represent today's necessity for the perfect balance between consistent innovation and guaranteed efficiency Tracklist via -Spotify: http://bit.ly/SRonSpotify -Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/Slam_Radio/ -Facebook: bit.ly/SlamRadioGroup Archive on Mixcloud: www.mixcloud.com/slam/ Subscribe to our podcast on -iTunes: apple.co/2RQ1xdh -Amazon Music: amzn.to/2RPYnX3 -Google Podcasts: bit.ly/SRGooglePodcasts -Deezer: bit.ly/SlamRadioDeezer Keep up with SLAM: fanlink.to/Slam Keep up with Soma Records: fanlink.to/SomaRecords For syndication or radio queries: harry@somarecords.com & conor@glowcast.co.uk Slam Radio is produced at www.glowcast.co.uk

In this episode I sit down with ex-Special Forces officer turned entrepreneur, Preston McCormick. After bravely serving his country, Preston made a foray into the legal cannabis farming industry in California, setting up shop on Sovereign Indian Tribal Land. What should have been a peaceful entrepreneurial endeavor soon took a harrowing turn. Preston recounts the shocking day when Riverside County Sheriff's Office (RSO) raided his legal cannabis farm, despite his prior efforts to verify its legality. Hear about the traumatizing experiences of being held at gunpoint, the impact on his family, and the relentless destruction of his livelihood. This isn't just a story of a raid gone wrong - we dive deeper into the unsettling undercurrents of corruption, the questionable tactics of RSO, and Preston's relentless pursuit of justice against all odds. This is more than a story of a veteran-turned-entrepreneur. It's a tale of resilience, determination, and standing up against systemic corruption.
