Episode Title: “The Power of Grit: The Key to Lasting Success”1. Introduction: What is Grit? Define grit as a combination of perseverance and passion for long-term goals. Contrast grit with talent and intelligence. Quote from Angela Duckworth's research on grit. Talent alone does not ensure success. Grit involves sustained effort. Real-world examples of gritty individuals outperforming the naturally talented. Studies showing that effort counts twice as much as talent. The importance of resilience in overcoming challenges and setbacks. “Success is not a straight line” – how people handle failure defines their future. Grit helps individuals stay committed to their goals even in the face of adversity. Grit isn't just about working hard—it's about working hard on something you care deeply about. Staying motivated for the long haul: passion fuels long-term dedication. How to identify what you're truly passionate about. Examples from various fields: athletes, entrepreneurs, artists. Stories of grit from history (e.g., Thomas Edison, J.K. Rowling). How grit can manifest differently in different industries, but the core characteristic is the same. The difference between being motivated for a short project and having grit for long-term goals. How to develop grit for projects that take years, not days or weeks. Examples of people who showed grit over a decade or more. Nature vs. nurture: is grit something you're born with, or can you cultivate it? Practical steps to build more grit in your life (e.g., setting long-term goals, practicing mindfulness during setbacks). The importance of self-discipline and creating habits that support perseverance. How having grit builds mental toughness and emotional resilience. Grit can create a growth mindset, making you more adaptable and willing to take risks. The link between grit and greater overall life satisfaction. Can you have too much grit? When to know when to pivot or change course. How to balance grit with self-compassion and self-care. The difference between stubbornness and perseverance. Start small: developing persistence in minor daily tasks. Create a vision for your long-term goals. Surround yourself with people who model grit and perseverance. Track progress and celebrate small wins to stay motivated over time. Summarize key points: talent and intelligence are important, but without grit, they won't lead to lasting success. Call to action: Encourage listeners to assess their own level of grit and begin building habits that foster long-term perseverance. A motivational closing quote on grit (e.g., "Fall seven times, stand up eight"). 2. Why Grit Outweighs Talent and Intelligence3. The Role of Perseverance4. The Importance of Passion5. Grit in Different Areas of Life6. Grit vs. Short-Term Motivation7. Can Grit Be Learned?8. The Psychological Benefits of Grit9. The Downsides of Grit10. This pressing question has turned the customer success organization upside down as it navigates what the future of its business looks like.

Likewise, as we come together each week to take some breaths and connect, I invite you to, once again, join me in meditation. There is, presently, so much going on in our world. From what's happening in the Middle East to inclement weather to fires to social unrest, I have, as a result, been sinking into one simple question: what energy am I putting into the world? Love times infinity When I first started to meditate twenty-five years ago, there was a study floating around that expressed the benefits of meditation. It stated that one person meditating extended to a two mile radius. While the citation I, unfortunately, cannot recall, the sentiment is that our energy has an impact. And when we operate from a calm, grounded, and centered place, that's when we emit that same loving-kindness energy out into the world. Right now, and perhaps more than ever, our world needs your centered, grounded, loving energy. Today, I want us to steep ourselves in that heart centered energy of love and radiate outward. Law 5 of the Seven Spiritual Laws Meditation Series: The Law of Intention and Desire This is my FAVORITE week of our meditation series with Deepak Chopra's book, “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success,” because today we're onto week 5 -- the law of intention and desire. As the name states, the law of intention and desire is all about intention, which, you know, I like. And if your joining me for the first time, please start here or jump back to the beginning of this series. You will receive the benefits either way. Most of all, the Law of Intention and Desire is, at heart, what we do each week on Today I Choose. That is, the law of intention and desire is about getting into a place of stillness, listening to where you're being called, and then acting from that place. Let the universe handle the details Again, the law of intention is what we talk about each week. Intention, in other words, is the power behind desire. Intention is the act of naming and listing what you want. Deepak even suggests physically writing your intentions down. Perhaps surprisingly then, the next step is to release attachment and let the universe handle the details. When you release attachment, you come fully into the present moment. So as we prepare to meditate today, I invite you to check in, let go, and let the universe handle the details. Today's Law: Law 5: “The Law of Intention and Desire” “Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for its fulfillment. Intention and desire in the field of pure potentiality have infinite organizing power. And when we introduce an intention in the fertile ground of pure potentiality, we put the infinite organizing power to work for us.” - From The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success quotes Today's Mantra: Brahma Day of the Week associated with this law: Thursday Chakra: 3rd Chakra Color: Yellow LINKS MENTIONED Deepak Chopra The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Mastering the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Today I Choose Meditations Today I Choose: Daily Intentions to Guide You Through Your Life Today I Choose: Daily Intentions to Guide you Through Your Life Volume 2 Related Episodes: Meditation Series: Law 1 of The 7 Spiritual Laws Meditation Meditation Series: Law 2 of The 7 Spiritual Laws Meditation 3: The Law of Karma - A Meditation from “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success 4: Law of Least Effort - A Meditation from “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/todayichoose/support
Law 4 of the Seven Spiritual Laws Meditation Series: The Law of Least Effort Today we are continuing to meditate with Deepak Chopra's book, “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success,” as our guide. And in this episode, we're picking up with Law 4: the law of least effort. If this is your first time joining us, please either start here or jump back to the beginning of the series. Either way, you are in good company. Likewise, whether it's the law of least effort in relationships or the law of least effort in all things, the foundation of this law is nature. For example, a few natural metaphors to express this law might be: grass doesn't try to grow, it just grows. The sun doesn't try to shine, it just shines. Fish don't try to swim, they just swim. In total, the law of least effort is all about being in harmony with all nature, including your nature. Three distinct components of the law of least effort According to Deepak, there are three distinct components of this law: acceptance, responsibility, and defenselessness. For example, when we meditate, we accept what happens, we take responsibility by showing up, and we are defenselessness by just being there. By contrast, in our western culture, we're often all about the do, do, do. This law, however, is all about the be, be, be. As we prepare to meditate, I invite you to check in and ask: how can you take responsibility in the now? Today's Law: Law 4: “The Law of Least Effort” “Nature's intelligence functions with effortless ease, with carefreeness, harmony, and love. And when we harness the forces of harmony, joy, and love, we create success and good-fortune with effortless ease.” - From The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success quotes Today's Mantra: Vam Day of the Week associated with this law: Wednesday Chakra: 2nd Chakra LINKS MENTIONED in the Law of Karma meditation Deepak Chopra The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Mastering the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Today I Choose Meditations Today I Choose: Daily Intentions to Guide You Through Your Life Today I Choose: Daily Intentions to Guide you Through Your Life Volume 2 Related Episodes: Meditation Series: Law 1 of The 7 Spiritual Laws Meditation Meditation Series: Law 2 of The 7 Spiritual Laws Meditation 3: The Law of Karma - A Meditation from “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success” --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/todayichoose/support

Dad Joke: Do you know what the favorite New Year's Eve drink is for pretentious horses? Chardonneigh Copyright and Trademark Law Terry: Gordon, let's start with one that I hear regularly. Someone will see a decorator printing Disney, or DC Comics, or Harley Davidson and say, “You know, that's copyrighted artwork.” Could you explain to our listeners the difference between copyright and trademark? Listener questions:Aaron: If people see copyright violations and wish to report it, is there a central location or do they need to find the licensee info? Terry: We see this with equipment sales too. A company either has end-of-life with a product or stops selling a product, and says there's no more support. Aaron: "How does everyone find if an image used is copyrighted or not? For example, Renaissance Art or famous old masterpieces, are they somehow copyrighted?" Terry: If you buy artwork from someone who claims to have the rights to it do you automatically get the rights because of purchasing the art? Similarly a listener asked, what if I buy a trademarked image, as sublimation transfers for instance, and the seller infers they are licensed, could I be liable for trademark infringement for selling the image on products? Aaron: What action can we actually take in the event someone steals our design...? How do we protect our design? How much will it all cost? Often the thieves rely on the fact people will not take action because of cost so… What's the best way to protect our own original artwork? Terry: My question. Why do all the local schools get by with using NFL logos for their school logo? I was told by a coach that they have permission to use the Atlanta Falcons bird. I still refuse to do it for them but they just have it done by someone else. What about school logos in general (especially high school)...can we print apparel, etc. using their logos, whether they are using an NFL logo or one of their own design without permission? If we need permission, do we get it from the school? How do high schools get away with using college football team logos? Are there repercussions for a decorator using said logo to make apparel for the high school?

The Dynamic Duo of Success ~ Support and Accountability In this episode, I discuss how support and accountability, when combined, become one of the strongest elements of a support group or coaching program. They are the Dynamic Duo of Success. Power Takeaways From This Episode: 1. Two of the most critical elements of any successful coaching and support program are support and accountability. 2. Why everyone loves to give and receive support and why that might be a bad thing. 3. The reason support by itself is not strong enough to help you win. 4. Why people struggle with the accountability piece of the puzzle. 5. Why being uncomfortable is the key to growth. 6. How, when you combine support with accountability, the strength of both multiple by 10. 7. The importance of being coachable and knowing that those who hold you accountable do it because they love you and want to see you win. 8. Surrounding yourself with people who expect you to be better is the best thing you can do for your success. 9. Holding those around you accountable will strengthen your relationships and help you all grow and evolve. Join the FREE ~ Wellness Lab Launch Pad
