It is surprising how little people talk about Robocop. When it first came out it was amazing. The character was awesome, the movie was great, and the action was second to none. As is usually the case, the sequels worsened and the recent remake was not so great. Still, it is surprising to see how the property has all but disappeared. The days of telling a singular story in one movie seem to be gone. Weapons was one of our favorite movies from last year. That being said, we really were not clamoring for more. Unsurprisingly, we are lukewarm on news of the upcoming Gladys prequel. There is still a very good chance that it will be just as great as the source material, but we aren't stoked for it. Ice Cream Man is the latest release from Eli Roth. It is wacky, over the top, and very very bloody. It is the most Eli Rothiest movie ever. It is something of a passion project where Roth did every crazy thing he has ever wanted to do. The end result is a very silly and entertaining watch. We also try to figure out what Roth's place in horror is. He definitely is not up there with the greats like Carpenter and Romero, but he has also left behind an impressive body of work. Is it enough to consider him an icon or is he just a name people know? Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. If you ever long for the days when Syfy was making and airing their monster-of-the-week shows, or miss the early seasons of The X-Files, then the book I have this week is definitely one for you. (Mostly) Human Resources is the debut novel from American author Grace Viall. An urban fantasy that blends the world of monsters, monster hunters and the modern world together. In the first in her Entity Case Files trilogy, we meet the employees of Entity, an organisation which hunts and destroys the monsters that lurk, the monsters from folklore and legend. Banshees, Silver Giants, jackalopes - all of them are real, and all of them may be dangerous. Alexys Keane works in the HR department, looking after the wardens who go out to hunt these creatures that could possibly go bump in the night. She's a desk jockey, who likes where she is. A rule-follower, she's less than impressed when she's forced to work with the less traditional and definitely more rebellious Nic Dyre...and things get even worse when an employee assessment goes awry. To learn more about this book and why you should definitely read it...as well as possibly pick up a boxset of Warehouse 13, get your earbuds in and give this interview a listen. I promise, it's a world of fun. Grace's Links Grace's Website Grace's Instagram Buy the book

This edition of The Neil Haley Show opens with a Total Celebrity conversation with WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley about his book Saint Mick: My Journey from Hardcore Legend to Santa's Jolly Elf. Neil, a former pro wrestler himself, thanked Foley for once steering him toward promoter Bert Prentice and the independent circuit early in his own career. Foley reflected on a run that exceeded even his own expectations, from grinding out a 58-minute match in front of just 25 people in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to stardom in WCW and the WWF, and shared the lesson that it is not the size of the crowd but the impact you have on the people in the room. That same conviction, he said, drives his six years portraying Santa Claus, and he told a moving story about a Christmas Eve visit to a young cancer patient on Long Island, whose transformation he ranked among the finest moments of his career. Foley explained that he wrote the book himself, partly for his children, and credited Stephanie McMahon with convincing him the offbeat, touching Christmas tale could reach beyond wrestling fans. He previewed his 20 Years of Hell tour, built around bringing that infamous match back to life. Find him at realmickfoley.com.Neil then turned to a J Len Sciuto Show simulcast, where the retired Coast Guard officer and thriller author offered his own geopolitical analysis, opening, as he noted, with a disclaimer that it is opinion and discussion drawn from public reporting rather than settled fact. He walked through his reading of tensions around Iran's nuclear program and a fortified mountain site near the Natanz facility, the risk of the Houthis widening the conflict, and the military scenarios he fears could follow, while also touching the Abraham Accords, the long U.S. history of regime-change operations, and rising oil prices. Drawing on 36 years in the Coast Guard, he tied the themes to his bestselling submarine thriller Hades Crypt and a coming sequel, Desperate Countermeasures, noting that a large share of his book royalties supports junior enlisted service members. Reach him at jlenscuto.com.Neil then welcomed the legendary Suzanne Somers, author of Two's Company: A 50-Year Romance with Lessons Learned in Love, Life, and Business. Somers shared the story of meeting her husband, Canadian television star Alan Hamel, on a San Francisco game-show set, and of a partnership so close the two have not spent a night apart in decades while also running a business together. She recounted her rise on Three's Company, being fired after seeking pay equal to the men on the number-one show, and the smear campaign that followed, then how she and Hamel refused to dwell on what she had lost and instead branded Suzanne Somers, from the ThighMaster to headlining Las Vegas. Her throughline was simple: problems do not define you, how you respond to them does, and the goal is to turn setbacks into opportunities. Find her at SuzanneSomers.com.The hour closes with actor and director Mario Van Peebles on Syfy's Superstition, in which he writes, directs, produces, and stars alongside his daughter Morgana. Van Peebles described growing up in the Van Peebles independent-film family as an apprenticeship in every job on a set, from cables and lighting to directing, so that wearing many hats now feels natural. He pitched Superstition as the story of a loving Southern family in the funeral business, running the Hastings Funeral Home, who battle demons rising as humanity does more damage to the planet, each episode built around a different piece of Gothic Americana. He shared bits of his father Melvin's wisdom, that luck is preparation meeting opportunity, and that it is not what you face but how you face it that reveals you. Find Mick Foley's Saint Mick and Suzanne Somers' Two's Company in bookstores, Jay Len Sciuto at jlenscuto.com, and Mario Van Peebles on Superstition.

New York Times bestselling author D.J. Molles comes a snark-fueled, high-octane alien invasion thriller where humanity's last hope might just be the most dangerous babysitting job in the galaxy. Earth's been toast for five years-ever since the aliens showed up, killed half the population, and penned the rest like cattle. Master Sergeant Sol Winters leads a ragtag resistance team that's barely clinging to relevance, when an alien ship crashes in his backyard carrying the princess of the empire and her grumpy bodyguard. She claims she's here to make peace. Sol's pretty sure she's lying-but if she's not, she might be humanity's only shot at survival. Too bad everyone else wants her dead. Traitorous humans, rival alien factions, old friends who should've stayed dead-suddenly, everyone's gunning for Sol, his team, and their not-so-willing VIPs. Betrayals pile up, battles get bloodier, and Sol keeps wondering how he got stuck babysitting the galaxy's most dangerous teenager. Packed with firefights, backstabbing, and a narrator who can't help breaking the fourth wall, this is the story of humanity's last stand…told with a wink, a , and a whole lot of explosions.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

* Redownload if necessary*Greetings, fellow traveller. For our Sci-Fi Channel series finale we bring you Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, a short-lived but brilliant British parody show that never really got its due. (Sorry we were a little late on this episode, but Jake and I both had some pretty serious life stuff happen. Trying to get back on track.)We break down what makes the mockumentary format work so well, from the talking-head commentary to the show-within-a-show mechanics that let the creators land jokes at multiple levels at once. Along the way, we talk about the people who make it sing: Matthew Holness building an entire career-long bit as Garth, Richard Ayoade's razor control as Dean Lerner, Matt Berry's instantly recognizable voice work, and Alice Lowe's deliberately sidelined role that sharpens the satire. We also trace the project's stage roots, the specific TV influences that shaped it, and why the “lost VHS” framing turns cheap production into a feature rather than a flaw.

Р. Мартин?

This week I'm talking to Lon Strickler about his book 'Alien Disclosure: Experiencers Expose Reality'. The question isn't, have we been visited by extraterrestrial beings, but what is their agenda? Human experiencers are providing us with actual accounts of alien abduction and close encounters with other worldly beings. Their stories are important, giving us a real sense of this global phenomenon and to the possible agenda behind these visitations. This book will detail numerous encounters which will help answer questions such as: Is the human species part of a grand experiment? Who are the Men in Black? Is our species, with the assistance of extraterrestrials, headed towards a technological and biological singularity? The experiences described in the accounts are brutally forthright and span decades. Some of the stories will shock you, some will offer greater clarity, and some will even frighten you. Either way, these experiences will present a vivid account and no doubt leave you questioning the origin of our species. Bio Lon Strickler is a Fortean researcher, author, and publisher of the syndicated 'Phantoms and Monsters' blog. He began the blog in 2005, which has steadily grown in popularity and is read daily by tens of thousands of paranormal enthusiasts, investigators and those seeking the truth. His research and reports have been featured on hundreds of online media sources. Several of these published reports have been presented on various television segments, including The History Channel's 'Ancient Aliens,' Syfy's 'Paranormal Witness', 'Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files,' and Destination America's 'Monsters and Mysteries in America.' He has been interviewed on hundreds of radio & online broadcasts, including multiple guest appearances on 'Coast to Coast AM.' He was also featured on Destination America's 'Monsters and Mysteries in America' television show for 'The Sykesville Monster' episode. Lon has written 9 books and is currently the host of Phantoms & Monsters Radio on YouTube. Lon was born and raised in south central Pennsylvania, near the Gettysburg National Military Park and Battlefield. After living in the Baltimore, MD metro area for 40 years, he eventually moved back to his hometown in 2016. https://www.amazon.com/Alien-Disclosure-Experiencers-Expose-Reality-ebook/dp/B097HYSN7F https://www.phantomsandmonsters.com/ https://www.pastliveshypnosis.co.uk/ https://www.patreon.com/alienufopodcast https://simonbown.com/ My new book, Aspects of Alien Abduction https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GRRPCT9Y Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. William Shatner's TekWar is a so-so cyberpunk cop story that somehow grew into novels, comics, trading cards, syndicated TV movies, a USA Network and Sci Fi Channel series, and a PC video game that many people still call one of the worst ever made. The real story is not the plot, it's the momentum. We follow the money, the branding, and the era's obsession with recognizable names to figure out how this franchise kept getting revived even as it struggled to become genuinely good.

"It was really sort of a Blitzkrieg assault approach where I wrote many, many scripts and emailed everybody I knew, and entered scripts into screenwriting competitions. "While I was living in New York I paid for a pitch fest in L.A. I flew out there to this event where you had five minutes to pitch different companies, like Lionsgate Motion Pictures. It was like speed dating for screenwriters. Eventually, I got one of my scripts into the hands of The Asylum and that eventually became 'Born Bad,' which was a made-for Lifetime TV movie. When they told me they liked that script and they wanted me, well, that was amazing!" Jared Cohn is a film/TV director, writer, and producer based in Los Angeles, CA.
