Comic Writer Mark Abnett has had success in the past on Kickstarter, and even had his series picked up for publishing by Scholastic. But it's been a while since he's launched on Kickstarter. With a new trade ready roll, and it being a while since he's reached out to his email list, Mark is looking for advice to ready his audience before he goes live, and a mastermind roundtable of creators is there to help!

In celebration of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, we wanted to share our review one of the comic book runs featuring the comic adventuring team that the movie trilogy is based on. Writers Andy Lanning and Dan Abnett were instrumental in reigniting Marvel's Cosmic Universe with Annihilation and Annihilation: Conquest. After this in-universe cross over event they took some of the surviving characters and reintroduced them as a team in their own title Guardians of the Galaxy in 2008. This group features Star-Lord, Gamora, Phyla-Vell, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Mantis, Drax the Destroyer and Adam Warlock along with other heroes from Marvel's cosmic backlog. We follow this cast of cosmic adventurers as they attempt to save time and space from the cataclysmic Faults that have the potential to destroy the universe as they know it and then some. They also persevere through another 2 Marvel events along with other villains that continue to test the unity of this interesting cast of cosmic heroes. The primary artist on the series, Paul Pelletier helps establish this new modern vision of the team that has ties to its 1969 version of the lineup, while creating a welcoming introduction to new comic book readers. If you like James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy movie trilogy and looking for a jumping on point we recommend checking out the Guardians of the Galaxy by Abnett & Lanning Omnibus to follow along in their adventures while discovering what inspired the live action adaption.

My latest guest is life-long Weller fan Jon Abnett. Known as Mr Jam - he has contributed to the band's boxset releases and designed for some great band related books over the years including Thick As Thieves, In The Crowd and The Jam Unseen. His new book is From the Floorboards Up! A unique fans' perspective photographic book following the icon that is Paul Weller. All the photos in this new book are from live events in the UK and overseas, taken from 1990 to 2019. Containing many unseen shots all taken by the fans! It's a very unique book, with narrative by Pat Gilbert (MOJO), interviews with fans and reflections from some bands lucky enough to have supported Paul on tour during those 30 years. Our coverage of the titanic, gargantuan ANNIHILATION SAGA continues. We're in double digits baybee, hitting the big 1-0, and that means we're nearing the end. It's so close, I can almost taste the space destruction. But first, we've got to get through the first half of "Realm of Kings" with "Realm of Kings" #1, "Realm of Kings: Inhumans" #1-5, "Realm of Kings: Son of Hulk" #1-4, "Nova" #29 – #31, and the final issues of Abnett & Lanning's "Guardians of the Galaxy:" #20-25.It's a lot to read but don't worry, it's the last long one for a good while AND it's a much easier read than "War of Kings." Trade readers can find the one-shot and mini-series in "Realm of Kings," Nova in "Nova" Vol.6: Realm of Kings, and Guardians in "Guardians of the Galaxy" Vol. 4: Realm of Kings. Next time, we conclude "Realm of Kings" with the final issues of "Nova" and the final "Realm of Kings" mini. The reading order is "Nova" #32-35, "Realm of Kings: Imperial Guard" #1-5, and "Nova" #36. Trade readers can find them in the same trades as above, sans the "Guardians" one.

The ANNIHILATION SAGA rages on! Though the war with the bugs has been fought and won, the war with the machines has just begun. Actually, that's a shorter war than the last one, and today's episode will bring us to the end of it. We are talking the second half of "Annihilation Conquest." That means discussion on "Nova" #4-12 and Annual #1, "Wraith" #1-4, and "Annihilation: Conquest" #1-6. But this is the far off galaxy in a Marvel book! This war may be wrapping up soon, but the next space war is right around the corner.Next time, peace! Sort of. We'll be reading the first six issues of "Guardians of the Galaxy" by Abnett and Lanning, and "Nova" #13-22, also by Abnett and Lanning. As far as reading orders go, it doesn't get more straightforward than this. Seriously, keep an eye on this space, reading orders are going to get complicated. But for now, enjoy the origins of everyone's favorite superhero team that features a tree and a raccoon.

In this episode, I am speaking with Rebecca Abnett and Skye Douglas, Science teachers from Nanango State High School. Every year the kids from Nanango host the most incredible day for all of the primary schools in the area where cars being raced, bridge being built and so many cool things. About the Bridge Building Podcast “This is the place where we dissect and then discover the many ways ITD teachers all over this country are using their passion to create passionate students. We talk of measuring and manipulating a multitude of materials of design and divergent thought, of creation with our minds and with our hands. And most of all, we talk of growing great young people because of course that is what we do.” So what does that mean other than I like to show off my alliteration skills? Since coming back to teaching a few years ago the thing that strikes me most, and frankly scared me most is how lonely this job is. How little we know about what is happening in our subject area. The classroom next door, a class in the next school, let alone the next town are a mystery to me. I know there are teachers out there doing incredible things and this (the podcast) is a way for me to find out and be inspired. I would like to invite you along to listen and learn, to be inspired by some of the sensational teachers I speak to on the “Bridge Building Podcast – from technology to the trades” About the Podcast Host Stephen Anderson is a Design Technology, Trade Training and accidental Science teacher at a small high school 2 hours North West of Brisbane. Over To You To keep this podcast going, I need your help. If you know someone who is doing something spectacular or just great fun in design and tech or in trade training, I would love to know about them. Contact me through my email osaerial@gmail.com

"Wild's end. Escuchar audio

On this episode, the gang let Darryl pick the book we read. Last time he picked one, it was an existential horror manga that stuck with us for months. This time, it’s a super extreme 90s Marvel book that probably would’ve fit in better during Edgelord August. Apparently Death’s Head II is a rich character […]
The comics prognostication continues! Flipping to the front of the catalog, Mike & Greg's attention focuses on Diamond's top-tier publishers: Dark Horse! DC! Image! IDW! Marvel! All that, plus some questionable manga labeling from a publisher who should know better, pendulum swinging, more Cullen Bunn sightings, Abnett on “Legion of Super-Heroes”, umlauts & Flexi-discs, disproportionate Kirby 100 celebrations, and more as the lads wrap up another trek through the “Previews” catalog! Robots From Tomorrow is a weekly comics podcast recorded deep beneath the Earth's surface. You can subscribe to it via iTunes or through the RSS feed at RobotsFromTomorrow.com. What is the haps, my friends. We had a lot of fun with this episode, so I hope you enjoy it. Introduction - Jacob has found success in overthrowing his HOA and is now a Youtube sensation. Is he getting too big for this show? Haha, no. I recall some great acting anecdotes as well. [19:43] News - Special guest Emily Williams helps us get our heads around Avengers Academy, and we talk about some new casting for the Punisher Netflix show. We also talk up the Punisher vs. Darkman fan film and the shittiest Punisher costume ever. [45:18] Mail Call - We get a ton of great voicemails and emails from you guys! Plus, Jake gives what might be the best team-up idea ever. Also, use this link to play the video when we start talking about the new military "Punisher" vehicle to follow along with us! [1:25:26] Bullet Points - We get as close as we will ever get to Civil War II with Choosing Sides #4 and Kingpin #3. We end the segment with Becky Cloonan's Punisher #5. We get a little negative on it, but it's a good series. [2:08:56] Flashbacks - We finish the Punisher Eurohit story line with issues #67-70. Such a fun arc by Abnett and Lanning! We highly recommend it. [2:35:33] Discharge Papers - Jake talks up Magnificent 7 and I talk down on Blair Witch. I also give initial thoughts on Luke Cage, but will get in-depth next episode.

The Two Guys with PhDs Talking about Comics are back with another fun conversation, this time with artist I. N. J. Culbard. They talk with him about his latest book, The King in Yellow (SelfMadeHero), a graphic adaptation of Robert W. Chambers's macabre collection of stories originally published in 1895. To be more specific, Culbard actually takes the first four stories from Chambers's original work, the ones that reference the notorious fictional play referenced in the title — “The Repairer of Reputations,” “The Mask,” “In the Court of the Dragon,” and “The Yellow Sign” — and adapts those. As Ian reveals, he attempts to stay true to the spirit of the original, while at the same time making creative changes that will more fully bring out the stories' tone and present them in more of a thematic whole. In fact, Derek suggests that Ian has actually made The King in Yellow better by giving it more structural cohesion, using the four stories in such a way that the book becomes short-story cycle, or more appropriate to the medium, a graphic cycle. The guys spend a lot of time discussing the new book, the artist's storytelling choices, and especially Culbard's larger philosophy on adaptation and comics. However, they also explore a variety of Ian's earlier works, including his ongoing adaptations of H. P. Lovecraft narratives (of which we can expect more in the near future), his many collaborations with both Ian Edgington and Dan Abnett, and his solo work from last year, Celeste. If you aren't previously familiar with the work of I. N. J. Culbard, then this is your chance to get introduced to one of the best adapters, and best artists, working in comics today.
The Comic Book Film Revue is back! This month the gang reviews the new Marvel Studios space romp Guardians of the Galaxy! With half of the panel split in terms of familiarity with the source material, topics include which character differs from the comic and which don't, who's run on the book influence the film more, Abnett and Lanning's or Bendis', which character was their favorite and which could have been done better. In the most musical episode so far, the gang are in high spirits and give the film so much praise that someone calls it their favorite Marvel film yet! Is he/she on the money or out of their mind? Only one way to find out, so get to downloading!
Not as fun or accessible as the movie (which John and I also get into here), but still good entertainment.

Los títulos que incluía esta línea eran Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider/Blaze: Spirits of Vengeance, Nightstalkers, Darkhold: Pages from the Book of Sins, y Morbius: The Living Vampire.
