And as a raven shouts defiance, the call goes out for the mightiest heroes of all! ... so how did these five guys wind up being the ones to answer it?? A break-out success for Ralph Bakshi in the 1960s, the Mighty Heroes were a bunch of cartoon cut-ups who wouldn't make the cut for the Great Lakes Avengers! It's up and away with this formative superhero parody that has some issues but still somehow holds up.

They will see some familiar faces that we have seen in Kansas City, as well as some creators that they have never met before.  The first three episodes of Andor premiered on Disney+ last week. The latest episode of She-Hulk helps answer that question. Plus we are introduced to Mr. Immortal, which means you can start planning on seeing a Great Lakes Avengers series coming soon, right?  We have our Pick 3 selections, sponsored by our friends at Clint's Comics, which is celebrating its the 55th-anniversary since it opened its doors back in 1968. The early 2000s were truly a wild a time and nothing personifies the hubris of the new millennium better than the primetime lineup of Music Television. You may know Music Television by its Christian name, MTV, but you definitely know it as the cable channel which loved to show us the glamorous life of celebrities. Well, this week the execs asked us to put together a show for DT!V. They asked us to revamp 2000s MTV staple "Cribs" and determine which superhero lair would fit perfectly into a 2022 episode. Every once in a while, one of the Debaters finds a comic character that they want to talk about, whether or not they answer the question. That was Andrew's game plan this week. Todd and Kyle both brought child soldiers to the party and that's all we'll say about that.   Recommended reading: Here's the referenced Cribs compilation. Unpacking the Power of Power Pack

There comes a time in every podcast, where you need to talk about inconsequential cameo appearances made by the members of the team of heroes that you are podcasting about. Trust me, there is a law about that somewhere. I am sure I have read it. The point is, Power Pack has been mentioned or has done some drive-byes in a few issues that we wanted to mention. This is also a nice break before a change to what we have been doing. Luke Cage is crazy because the demon Boogey Man has taken over his brain. Yeah, we have all been there. Interesting career move for a Power Pack villain. A strange issue with a cameo by Dakota North? We are on Madripoor Island for some sexy swimsuit times. And because Alex headed over with the New Warriors....here we are. Can we appreciate how Alex has not been skipping bicep days? I really do not know what else to say here. Remember that time when Power Pack wiped the floor with Mysterio? Well the pack does. And during one of Mysterios fights with Daredevil, he replays his entire life, all of the moments that made an impact on him....and then he disses the Pack. Seriously!!! HYDRA is attacking and all the heroes are responding, including Power Pack. That is just about it. Thanks for coming folks! And now we have a comic about C class super-villains who are bad at doing what they do, finding better uses for their "talents", and becoming better. And yet...AND YET....the losers still need to belittle the Pack. Man....give our kids some love. OK, it is time for the kids to get some respect. The kids need to be part of the universe. They need to be part of some great teams. Unfortunately, this is the Great Lakes Avengers. Still, we will take it. And that is what we have folks. SG: Oh, Deadpool came up with trading cards for all kinds of heroes, villains, and other associated characters. D: But I'm not a- SG: Now that I'm seeing you in person, though, I think the artist didn't capture your features well at all. D: I'm so confused… SG: Sorry, I know I'm throwing a lot at you. Let's start over. Hi, I'm Doree-uh, Squirrel Girl. D: I know your name, but we can go with Squirrel Girl if you'd like. SG: How'd you discover that? My totally secret identity is totally a secret. Unless… CAN YOU TALK TO SQUIRRELS TOO? D: No, can't say that I can. (Although I honestly haven't tried…) Anyway, I'm not supposed to be the focus of an encounter. How can I help you? SG: Can I get an autograph? D: *pause* You are really taking this trading card thing to heart, huh? SG: Is that a yes? D: Short answer, no. Longer answer, only if you actually discuss something that is worth being in a psychiatrist's office for besides giving off fangirl vibes. SG: Well, aren't you a party pooper! Ok then, help me deal with squirrels. D: I...uh...well, I would need to know a little about their...personalities? Is there some sort of baseline compatible with humans and the type of sentience I'd be used to? SG: They're way more capable of bridging the gap between humanity and squirreldom than you think! They can be as moody and petty and impulsive as anyone you've ever treated. I'm sure of that.  D: I usually see you pictured with one squirrel, though. Obviously you have favorites. Pets are certainly a part of the family. SG: Do you consider your child to be a pet, then? D: Well...no. I can see how my wording can make things sound awkward. I'm sure to make plenty of mistakes. SG: So that part of the card is true! D: *flustered* Does that card say anything GOOD about me?  SG: I thought you weren't going to talk about yourself. D: Only because you brought it up again! So...back to it. You're close to squirrels. How does that compare to humans around you?  SG: Not bad. Actually, I think I can relate to just about anything that wants to talk. D: That's wonderful! Do you have an example?  SG: I was nice to Galactus so he didn't eat the Earth. D: You...you saved all of us from something that could eradicate us with hunger, all by being nice to him? You shooed away an omnipotent being? You defeated multiple villains with an army of creatures the average person ignores or actively tries to avoid. Life...doesn't usually work out that way. SG: It does for me. Are you calling me a liar?  D: No! In fact, you may be the most honest patient I've had in a while. But that's not something I can help you improve. What's something that you consider to be a weakness? SG: Sometimes, I think I'm too nice. D: I've definitely heard that before. You don't want to give too much of yourself to others, and leave little time for yourself. What would you say is the ideal balance for you?  SG: Maybe stereotypical, but how about 50/50. D: 50/50...of what? There's more than 2 sides to a person's life.  SG: Not necessarily. Half for me, half for everyone else. D: *truly stunned* I mean, spiritual, physical, family and friends, vocational...you're telling me that it all comes down to 50/50? SG: Yup. Works for me. Works for my teammates. It probably doesn't work for enemies, but that's why I win! D: I don't want to lose track of you saying you're TOO nice. And yet, you're giving me an amazing, elegant schema for which you view life. What's off kilter? SG: I babysit too much. D: So...don't do it as much?  SG: *genuine surprise* Really? That makes so much sense! Then I would have more time to do other things! Wow. I needed to hear that. Thank you so much! D: *clearly thinks this is sarcasm* You don't have to bait me into thinking- SG: *interrupting* Sometimes it just takes a professional like you to remind a regular old superbeing like me about the little things. That intelligence rating on your card is spot on! D: Wait...what? I'm considered intelligent? At what rank? SG: Ooooh, nice try, but I learned my lesson. You don't want to talk about yourself or that silly card. D: But I thought you wanted me to sign it. SG: Hmm… I suppose it would add to the value. Although we don't have any way to verify the signature, and CGC is backed up like CRAZY these days… fine, here you go. D: *signing sound* And now that I have it, lemme take a look… A THREE?!?! THAT'S IT?!?! SG: It's out of 7, so it's not as bad as it sounds. D: YOU'RE NOT HELPING. SG:I'm only a three too. So is Captain America.  D: I'm...with...him...but he's the very essence of what a hero is supposed to be. I gushed to him...oops! SG: I KNEW IT! You're just like all of us, and yet, you still help everyone you see. We're not so different. D: Except you have squirrel powers. SG: Are you going to keep saying that? D: As long as you keep saying I'm just like you. SG: Then how can you bridge the gap between people who can't see the common stuff? D: *pause* You just summarized my whole life's goal to make sure I stayed on track. I'm dumbfounded. How about this: I try to understand more about critter characterization, and you...just keep being you, except stick to a basic question I can answer like before. SG: It's a deal! I'll bring Tippy-Toe along next time, and I'll translate for you. D: OK. So should I bring nuts for him- SG: Her. And we'll bring our own. She's very particular. No offense. D: Understood. When the Top Tier Avengers are out saving the universe, who's left to save your town? The bargain basement heroes of the Great Lakes Avengers of course. They don't have much, but they make it work. Each member of this team brings something different to the table in both powers and personality, they kinda suck, but they got heart. And I think that's worth getting a bit more spotlight. In this episode, Curt and Kevin go nuts as they enroll at Empire State University, joined by their first-ever guest – Curt's teenage daughter, Evelyn – to discuss Squirrel Power, collecting issues #1-4 of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, published by Marvel Comics! She's fought crime with the Great Lakes Avengers and even defeated the powerful space baddie Thanos. But now Doreen Green, alias the aforementioned Squirrel Girl, must conquer threats more terrifying than any she's yet faced: College! A roommate! Boys! And if those weren't intimidating enough, who went and Kraven the Hunter, Whiplash and Galactus to the curriculum??? With sassy sidekick Tippy-Toe in tow, can our body-positive Avenger somehow convince the Devourer of Worlds to adopt an Earth-free diet? And can she make it into that exclusive series of trading cards known as … The Comics Canon? Things Discussed in This Episode: • Help us out: Did a Squirrel Girl artist contribute to a Team Fortress 2 comic? • What's up with Kraven the Hunter's vest? • The Voltron Squirrel • Everybody Hates Thanos • When you think "Captain America," you think "camping it up" • Team Fortress 2 • Goodnight Punpun • Homestuck • Paper Girls • Doom Patrol • Shade, the Changing Girl • Squirrel in My Pants • That “old” TV show, Phineas and Ferb Join us in two weeks as we make another return trip to Gotham City to discuss Batman: The Court of Owls! Ben (VF) makes his triumphant return after a week away from the podcast with jungle flu, and has some comments on last week's episode with Desmond Hassing (from the Slackademia and Musings of a Geek podcast) and Jason Brigger (from the Musings of a Geek podcast).  The pre-recording plans were to get to the comics quickly and efficiently to keep this week's episode as close to 60 minutes as possible...  and sadly, this might be as close as it gets… so instead of sticking with the plan, the first half hour of the show is spent talking about camping and lawn care.  Once that's out of the way, Nickel and VF discuss the first appearance of the Great Lakes Avengers, and once again rehash their ongoing Civil War debate before eventually moving on to the namesake of this episode, the recently launched Daredevil series on Netflix. Instead of hopping on the bandwagon, Nickel attempts to nitpick the hell out of Netflix's Daredevil series.  There isn’t that much to criticize, and so as usual, Nickel talks for a long time without really saying anything at all, and after all that, the guys agree...  Daredevil, at least through the first few episodes, is pretty darn good. In this week's edition of the aptly named "Rapid-Fire Review" books released on April 1, 2015 are discussed, including: The Woods #12, UFOlogy #1 (of 6), Arkham Manor Engame #1 (one-shot), Batman Eternal #52, Convergence #0, Gotham Academy Endgame #1 (one-shot), Black Science #13, Dying and the Dead #2, Nailbiter #11, Southern Bastards #8, Amazing Spider-Man #17, Avengers #43, Spider-Gwen #3, Uncanny Avengers #3, Uncanny Inhumans #0, Wolverines #13, and Rai #8. With no room left for a feature segment, its straight to the April 8 book release, and a discussion of which books Nickel and VF will be reading.  Thanks a bunch for listening and continuing to download these ridiculously long episodes.

Los títulos que incluía esta línea eran Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider/Blaze: Spirits of Vengeance, Nightstalkers, Darkhold: Pages from the Book of Sins, y Morbius: The Living Vampire.
