Donate (no account necessary) | Subscribe (account required) Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this Monday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, we cover violent new attacks on ICE agents in Chicago and Portland, Trump's plan to federalize National Guard units, the shutdown of apps used to track ICE officers, a cash offer to illegal immigrants, a shocking Virginia political scandal, and global updates from Greenland to Ukraine, the UK, Gaza, and Africa. Quick hits to launch your week with the facts shaping America and the world.   Violent Weekend on the Immigration Front: Radical activists in Chicago used phone apps to track ICE agents, boxed them in with ten cars, and rammed a federal vehicle. When the lead agitator, Marimar Martínez, brandished a gun, ICE agents fired back, lightly injuring her. Chicago police refused to assist, with supervisors citing sanctuary city laws. Trump responded by federalizing 300 Illinois National Guardsmen, saying, “If the governor won't protect federal officers, I will.”   Portland Judge Blocks Federal Guard Deployment: After months of violence and arson targeting federal buildings, Oregon's Judge Karin Immergut refused to let Trump deploy 200 Oregon Guardsmen. The White House will instead send California troops. City council member Angelita Morillo, an admitted Marxist, has been helping activists buy burner phones to coordinate attacks.   Apple and Google Drop Anti-ICE Apps: Following a Trump DOJ order, Apple and Google removed apps used to crowdsource ICE agent locations. Developers and activists called the move authoritarian, but DHS pointed to the weekend's attempted murder of ICE officers as proof the apps “facilitate organized violence, not free speech.”   Trump Expands “Pay to Leave” Immigration Program: Migrants aged 14 to 17 who entered illegally will now be offered $2,500 and a plane ticket home. Critics say the policy “coerces” children, but Trump argues it's cheaper and safer than detaining or deporting them. Reuters reports Guatemalan parents still refuse to take their kids back, preferring they keep working in the U.S.   Virginia Democrat Calls for Murder of GOP Speaker and Children: Attorney General candidate Jay Jones faces backlash for texting that Republican House Speaker Todd Gilbert and his two young children “should be shot.” Fellow Democrat Abigail Spanberger defended him, saying, “Let those without sin cast the first stone.” Bryan warns, “The Left is openly dehumanizing children now — what happens when words become policy?”   Greenland's Rare Earth Deal with the U.S.: The Trump administration is negotiating an investment partnership with Greenland's Critical Metals Corp to secure rare earth minerals and limit Chinese control. Bryan calls it “the front line of America's Mineral Wars.”   China Feeding Intel to Russia in Ukraine: Beijing is providing targeting data that includes U.S.-owned facilities, dragging out the conflict to drain American stockpiles.   UK Scandal Over Chinese Spies: British PM Keir Starmer quashed espionage charges against two Chinese-linked researchers by refusing to label China an “enemy.” Bryan warns it's time to “pull the plug on Five Eyes intel sharing” until the UK gets serious about national security.   Trump's Gaza Peace Plan and Netanyahu's Pressure: Envoy Steve Witcoff and Jared Kushner head to Cairo to finalize a deal requiring Hamas to disarm or face “complete obliteration.” Netanyahu faces backlash from his coalition, which could collapse if Hamas keeps any political power.   Nigeria's Christian Genocide Expands: Islamist militants from Boko Haram and ISIS killed hundreds in northern Nigeria, driving thousands into Cameroon. Bryan warns Biden's CIA may be indirectly aiding jihadists to attack Russian and Chinese targets.   Medical News — Parkinson's and Back Pain Relief: South Korean researchers linked tooth bacteria to Parkinson's risk, while a German cannabis extract eased chronic back pain. Bryan reminds listeners, “Keep brushing and walking — the mind and body are more connected than we realize.”   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32     Keywords: Chicago ICE attack Marimar Martínez, Trump federalizes Illinois National Guard, Chicago police sanctuary policy, Portland Judge Karin Immergut National Guard, Angelita Morillo Marxist burner phones, Apple Google anti-ICE apps removed, Trump migrant cash offer $2,500, Jay Jones Virginia AG murder text, Abigail Spanberger rage fuel comments, Greenland rare earth minerals Critical Metals Corp, China intel to Russia Ukraine war, Keir Starmer Chinese spies case UK, Trump Gaza peace plan Hamas disarmament, Nigeria Christian genocide Boko Haram ISIS, Parkinson's oral bacteria South Korea, German cannabis chronic back pain

#181 - Christian Ray Flores' life reads like an epic novel - a childhood marked by upheaval across continents, an improbable rise to pop stardom in Russia, and a profound transformation into a purposeful coach helping others discover their untapped potential.Growing up amid political chaos, Christian experienced firsthand what most of us only read about in history books. By age seven, he had lived through a military coup in Chile that landed his father in a concentration camp, experienced refugee life under UN protection, and witnessed civil war in Mozambique. The constant relocations forced him to absorb four languages by age nine, unwittingly preparing him for a life bridging different worlds and perspectives. When the Soviet Union collapsed around him just as he completed his economics degree, Christian made the unconventional choice to pursue music instead of academia. His gamble paid off spectacularly. Within years, he was performing in sports arenas across 15 countries, selling millions of albums, and even creating the campaign anthem for Boris Yeltsin's pivotal election against communist forces. Yet at the pinnacle of success, he found himself clinically depressed - a paradox that would later inform his coaching philosophy. The turning point came through spiritual transformation and marriage to an American woman who saw past his celebrity to the person beneath. After transitioning to life in America, Christian discovered his calling as a coach for high-achievers who, like his former self, might appear successful on paper while feeling incomplete or imbalanced within. His unique approach helps clients recognize when they're "fighting with one hand tied behind their back" - achieving impressive results while leaving their most powerful gifts dormant. Through his Exponential Life coaching program, he helps entrepreneurs, executives, and creatives untie that second hand and experience breakthrough performance aligned with their deepest purpose. What makes Christian's perspective so valuable is that he's lived at both extremes - from refugee facilities to celebrity mansions, from communist oppression to American opportunity. This journey fueled his book "Little Book of Big Reasons to Love America," which offers a refreshing immigrant perspective on American possibility in an age of cynicism.Want to discover what might be dormant in your own life? The Philosopher & The News
Does the left have a problem with political violence?

    The Philosopher & The News

There is a lot of violence in politics right now. Israel's war on Gaza has resulted in thousands of children and innocent civilians being killed, Russia is continuing to pound Ukraine with impunity, while the United States has experienced the return of political assassinations. The far right is no stranger to actual political violence, but Jacob Abolafia argued in a recent essay in The Point magazine that the left has been guilty of intellectualising violence in ways divorced from real politics. From seeing Hamas' October 7 th attacks as an inevitable and even justified result of Israel's colonial oppression, to celebrating the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by Luigi Mangione, and the gleeful reaction of some to the recent assassination of far right activist Charlie Kirk, the left can be seen to tolerate or even endorse political violence by appeals to philosophers like Franz Fanon, without fully appreciating the political consequences of such violence. So, when is political violence justified, if ever? What alternatives are there when democratic politics and non-violent resistance fail? And is the appeal to violence restricting the left's political vision?Jacob Abolafia is a political theorist who writes on the history of political thought and critical theory, and an anti-occupation activist in Israel. He teaches philosophy at Ben-Guirion University of the Negev. He is the author of the book The Prison Before the Panopticon: Incarceration in Ancient and Modern Political Philosophy. His essay Violence and the Left was recently published in The Point magazine. If you enjoyed the episode, please leave us a rating and a review on Apple Podcasts. This podcast is created in partnership with The Philosopher, the UK's longest running public philosophy journalm founded in 1923. From his brief but explosive tenure inside the Trump White House in 2017 to his career on Wall Street and success as co-host of ‘The Rest Is Politics US' podcast, Scaramucci has never been one to hold back — sometimes at great personal cost. In conversation with Emily Maitlis he explored the biggest questions facing America and the world today.  Is Trump an existential threat to democracy or can the US Constitution withstand his authoritarian impulses? Does his ‘America First' approach make war more or less likely? Does Vladimir Putin hold leverage over Trump, or is his detachment from Europe's troubles with Russia a calculated move to prioritise the greater threat from China? And are his opponents once again underestimating him — could the 77 million Americans who re-elected him be right that he will, in the end, make America great again? Scaramucci, with his trademark wit and unfiltered honesty, offered a rare insider's perspective on the chaos and consequences of the Trump era. --- This is the first instalment of a two-part episode. [This is one of the finalists in the 2025 review contest, written by an ACX reader who will remain anonymous until after voting is done. I'll be posting about one of these a week for several months. When you've read them all, I'll ask you to vote for a favorite, so remember which ones you liked] You Can Just Do Things In the winter of 2022 I was unhappily working at a dull but decently compensated IT job, which I had come upon at last after four years of phoning it in at college and abandoning my brief stint as an MMA Fighter/Porn Store Security Guard due to feeling like I was getting too old to be broke. If pressure to fit in with my yuppie, family-and-career-having peers pushed me into corporate life, the depressing mundanity of Covid-era day-to-day pushed me out just as quickly. On February 24th, 2022, Russia began its full scale invasion, and America learned what a “Ukraine” was. Having long used politics as a surrogate activity to distract myself from my life of chronic underachievement, I was already a little more familiar than most with the country's woes, and had followed the conflict from the time of the Euromaidan protests. Years before I had read of the likes of Azov and its many foreign volunteers, and had even periodically fantasized about dropping everything and going to the Donetsk Airport. But no, that Wasn't The Type Of Thing Normal People Like Me Did, so instead I joined my own country's armed forces, sat around pushing papers, earned the dubious honor of washing out “ahead of schedule”, and finally graduated college with a not very useful degree and a mediocre GPA. With the invasion however, things changed. Before I had always vaguely felt that I would eventually end up doing something “cool”, and had soothed myself with reassurances that I was still in the “early life” section of my future Wikipedia article and would bide my time before I made my play at greatness. Now however, the unrealisticness of this conceit was thrown into uncomfortably sharp relief by a certain contrast I could not not ignore. Only three days after the start of the full scale invasion, Ukrainian foreign minister Dymytro Kuleba announced the creation of the “International Legion For The Territorial Defense Of Ukraine”. Unlike in 2014, Ukraine was now specifically and officially soliciting foreigners with military experience to fight for them! I was at least technically in that category! I thought about my own time in the military. My ideas of going to war in Afghanistan had been quashed by the US withdrawal not long after I joined, and I had quickly found that military life involved more editing forms in Adobe Acrobat and less explosions than I had naively supposed. But this was a real war, a deadly serious war, and a major, world defining event at that. In the early months of the invasion the international media talked about almost nothing else. I spent all day at my desk pretending to work while frantically refreshing OSINT live maps and breathlessly following news from the front. I remember the circulation of harrowing video clips. Kalashnikovs being distributed to civilians in Kyiv, the mayor of a small village publicly asking its inhabitants whether they should personally accede to Russian ultimatums, or risk having their property destroyed and lives forfeit- to resounding cries of “Glory to Ukraine”. The Ukrainians' courage blew my mind. There were people who really had something to die for, and by extension something to live for. Meanwhile, there I was, sipping coffee and getting fat. The creation of the legion felt like destiny was reaching its hand out to me. Was I really going to ignore it so I could handle support tickets for the rest of my life? https://www.astralcodexten.com/p/your-review-the-russo-ukrainian-war

Host Jeff opens this Sunday broadcast with the show's signature mix of Scripture and geopolitical analysis — starting with the Word on Word game (Psalm 4:8 vs. Isaiah 55:6) and moving quickly into a wide‑ranging briefing on domestic and international developments. He explains why a single photo from a state visit and repeated uses of the phrase "his excellency" matter to his broader theory about shifting authority and sovereignty. Jeff dissects a purported "Declaration of Authority and Summons" that circulated ahead of a high‑profile meeting of military leaders, calling attention to unusual language such as "the United States for America" and "His Excellency of the Western Kingdom." He connects that document to recent court rulings, the government shutdown, and personnel changes at the top of the military and federal agencies — raising questions about legal authority, Navy JAGs in Washington, tribunal activity, and the reach of executive power. The episode also surveys global flashpoints: a controversial gun buyback and speech‑restriction measures in Canada, reports of legal and cultural shifts in the UK and across Europe, and the spread of government digital ID programs. Jeff ties these developments into a broader theme that some governments are showing their hand, and he explains how Russia, NATO, and other actors factor into the current geopolitical chessboard. Israel receives extended attention: Jeff describes Trump's treatment of Benjamin Netanyahu, the growing two‑state discussion, mass protests inside Israel, and intelligence claims that raise the risk of escalatory moves against Iran. He offers a speculative scenario — including the possibility of a false‑flag event or an attack near the Temple Mount — while framing it as one of several outcomes to watch as Israeli politics and regional alliances shift. As a counterpoint to fear and sensationalism, Jeff plays a clip from comedian Jim Brewer about how nonstop media coverage "steals your energy," ramps up fear, and drives people away from faith. Jeff endorses that message and emphasizes worship, prayer, and spiritual readiness as defensive tools: "peace through victory" is his refrain, urging listeners to don the armor of God, preserve their spiritual energy, and stay battle‑ready in troubled times. Key takeaways: close attention to military and executive moves in Washington, fast‑moving geopolitical developments (especially involving Israel and Western allies), and the episode's central pastoral call — resist fear, protect your moral and spiritual energy, and rely on worship and faith as the primary response. He still believes that what he was right and that he committed no sin, but only an error. He considers his choice of a confession the result of a weakness rather than a metaphorical resurrection. The other prisoners don't like him, but they adore Sonya. While Raskolnikov is ill, he has a dream that a virus is sweeping across Russia. The virus causes its victims to suffer from a madness that causes each of them to think of themselves the sole possessor of truth. People can't get along and tear each other apart. Throughout Raskolnikov's imprisonment, Sonya comes to visit, sitting outside of his window where he can see her. One day, she manages to meet him outside. They sit and hold hands. Previously, Raskolnikov felt repulsed at such actions, but now he feels different. He feels collapses in tears and embraces her. They both realise that he truly loves her. They decide to wait out the remaining seven years of his sentence together. He starts to read a copy of The New Testament that he asked Sonya for. He feels at one with her. The narrator closes the novel by stating that what happened to Raskolnikov after his time in prison is the matter of a different story.SEO Stuff that I don't want to do lol...Welcome to this narration of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's masterpiece, bringing you another chapter of this incredible literary classic. In this literary fiction reading, we explore the depths of Russian literature as the a desperate young Russian man, Raskolnikov, plans the perfect crime - the murder of a despicable pawnbroker, an old woman who no one will mourn. We could have guessed this once we saw the data, which was somewhat unfavourable and showed an increase of 14,000 in the number of unemployed. At the aggregate level for the eurozone, this increase was 11,000, offset by other more moderate readings. However, we continue to see that tension in the labour market is gradually easing, especially when we consider that employment expectations have weakened.  Source:  thecorner.eu  German Auto Industry Expected to Lose 100,000 Jobs in Next Four Years Following the “Build Back Better” agenda, the EU went all in for green energy proposals.  EU banking and finance followed suit, funding investment capital for electric vehicles (EVs) to replace combustion engines.  Unfortunately, this put the EU, specifically Germany, in the position of competing against the largest EV industrial base in the world, China. The second major flaw was capital only flowing to the EV sector, and Europeans -along with the majority of the industrial west- are just not buying EVs at a production capacity to match prior investment. Put it all together and Germany is trying to compete with China to produce a product their consumer base doesn't want. GERMANY – ZF Friedrichshafen's announcement that it is cutting 7,600 positions adds to the German supplier industry's troubles as parts makers struggle to manage the shift to EVs, along with falling demand for combustion engine components and increased competition from Chinese suppliers. Including job losses at Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche, the German auto industry is expected to eliminate nearly 100,000 jobs by 2030, according to an analysis by Bloomberg. Bankruptcies among German suppliers are climbing sharply, with 30 percent more expected in 2025 compared with last year, according to a report from consultancy Falkensteg.  Source: theconservativetreehouse.com (function(w,d,s,i){w.ldAdInit=w.ldAdInit||[];w.ldAdInit.push({slot:18510697282300316,size:[0, 0],id:"ld-8599-9832"});if(!d.getElementById(i)){var j=d.createElement(s),p=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];j.async=true;j.src="https://cdn2.decide.dev/_js/ajs.js";j.id=i;p.parentNode.insertBefore(j,p);}})(window,document,"script","ld-ajs"); https://twitter.com/KobeissiLetter/status/1973857269935939833 +1.82% on a year-over-year basis, the smallest gain since July 2023. Effective June 2025, I did a major improved revision on the sound quality for all my WarNotes episodes retroactively thanks to the technology at Podsworth. The banal and humble generator set is a secret to destroying US combat power. I wanted to flesh out a thought experiment on the vulnerabilities of the US war machine in its expeditionary mode in future wars of choice if a critical node of its operations for US efficacy were specifically targeted, in this case, generator sets;. these range from small portable units to large, trailer-mounted systems, including the Tactical Quiet Generator (TQG) and the Advanced Medium Mobile Power Source (AMMPS). In the future near-peer and peer fight, salvo competition will be the preeminent means by which one country will kinetically overwhelm the other in a fight. I discuss the ways in which the West is in an existential hazard of being woefully under-prepared to meet the threat if Western forces go toe to toe with regional hegemons in the East or West. The US is NOT prepared for the war of leakers in which the inadequate missile defense systems and strategy now deployed will be overwhelmed if it enters a war of choice with China or Russia. It isn't simply the peer competitors but the smaller players like North Korea and Yemen are demonstrating that the US and its allies can't cash the checks they boast about. Once again, the US should stand down, reassess, re-calibrate and stop thinking defense is a four letter word. On this week's Espresso Martini, Chris and Matt break down Pete Hegseth's speech at Quantico, where he and President Trump summoned 800 generals and admirals for what turned out to be a culture-war lecture on grooming standards and “wokeness.” They examine what it says about civil-military relations in Trump's second term and the risks in treating the armed forces as a political prop. Then they turn to the Secret Service's discovery of a massive SIM-card farm in New York linked to swatting threats and fraud, and what it reveals about the intersection of cybercrime, sabotage, and telecom vulnerabilities. From there, they look at how the US government shutdown is playing out inside the intelligence community—why frontline missions continue while contractors and support staff face furloughs that erode resilience. Finally, they discuss MI6's launch of a new dark-web tool called Silent Courier, designed to encourage potential sources to walk in virtually, and weigh the promises and dangers of this digital era of espionage. Saturday, 4 October 2025   He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?' Matthew 13:28   “And he said to them, ‘Enemy! A man did this!' And the servants, they said to him, ‘You incline, therefore, having gone, we should gather them?'” (CG).   In the previous verse, Jesus noted that the servants of the landowner came to him and asked him whether or not he had sown good seed in his field because there was also darnel growing in it. Jesus continues, saying, “And he said to them, ‘Enemy! A man did this!'”   The owner, without throwing an unfounded accusation at anyone in particular, identifies the problem immediately. An enemy has entered his field and sown darnel in with his good seed. In stating it this way, it could include or exclude anyone, even if the owner had already identified in his mind who was responsible.   Further, it could be that there is a main enemy who has used agents to accomplish his destructive work. Nothing is excluded by the way the statement has been presented. With this stated as a certain fact, Jesus continues, “And the servants, they said to him, ‘You incline, therefore, having gone, we should gather them?'”   With the understanding that there is a problem, and that it has been caused by an enemy, the servants are desirous to see the matter resolved. However, they intend to do whatever the master has determined, and so they ask his opinion. In essence, “We can take care of the darnel now if you want. We can identify it and remove it right away.”   The choice of what to do with it is now in the landowner's court. Whatever he decides will be what they follow through with.   Life application: This parable presents a truth that is not limited to a particular dispensation. During the time before the flood, there were those already identified as “sons of the God,” meaning those who were of faith in the promise of God concerning the coming of a Messiah. Noah was “a preacher of righteousness” from this line.   The world was filled with darnel that needed to be removed. The same is true after the flood. Job was of the “sons of the God.” The implication is that there were others who were not, simply because the group he worshiped with was. A contrast between the two exists. Likewise, during the time of the law, there were those who were of faith and those who were not.   That truth exists in the church today. There are those who are sons of God, a term noted in verses such as Romans 8:14. The context of Paul's words indicates that there is a contrast between them and those who are not sons of God.   Within these groups are obviously those who claim they are of the seed of God who are not. They may look like true sons. But eventually, they will fail to produce the proper fruit and other characteristics that sufficiently identify who is of the true seed.   Whatever dispensation Jesus is equating His thoughts to for the sake of the parable, it is a truth that has existed and which continues to exist in the world. It may be that the parable is intended to cover any such situation.   Understanding that there are such people in the world, even in government or private entities, we can more carefully consider what is going on around us. For example, if you are employed by the government, there are certainly bad actors who have been planted in your area by those who intend harm.   Communist countries like Russia and China have cultivated people for eons to enter into the military and steal information as well as sow discord. They look like anyone else in uniform, but they are there with evil intent.   This is true with any branch of government. People elected to office, even in the highest positions in the land, have been groomed by unfriendly governments to infiltrate and ruin our society. It is our responsibility to carefully evaluate those around us, whether in our workplace, church, government, etc., and be careful not to allow those who bear bad fruit to ruin the efforts of those who are working for the proper purpose intended by the one in charge.   In the case of the church, Jesus has set the standard. It is recorded in the word. When we find that someone has entered into the church at large who is bearing bad fruit, it is our responsibility to identify him as such.   At times, however, some take this to unintended extremes, identifying every little pet peeve of theirs as proof of someone being a false prophet or a false teacher. Likewise, false teachers level accusations against true believers, claiming what is sound doctrine is actually false.   The only way to sort through this mess is to read and know what the Bible says. It is our blueprint for proper living and a right understanding of what is true and what is false within the church. Know your Bible!   Lord God, it is hard to sort through all of the accusations directed at people in the ministry, claiming they present a false message of some sort. Help us to go to the source for understanding this, Your word, in order to rightly identify what is true and what is false. Help us in this, Lord. Your word is big and filled with a lot of information. Give us understanding in it as we seek out Your truth. Amen.

An expert on Iran and the Middle East, Tom Garrett's analysis and insights are enlightening as America's foreign policy and national security concerns are focused on a strategic region adversely impacted by Iran, a state sponsor of terrorism. Key Topics: The state of America's economy and the impact of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act focused on cutting taxes for everyday and hardworking Americans, including no tax on tips and overtime, no tax on social security, and savings for American families. Published report: _President Trump attacked global immigration and efforts to fight climate change during an address to the United Nations, claiming they were among the world's top threats to Western civilization. In an hour-long speech filled with grievances about ongoing wars, windmills and malfunctioning escalators, it was Trump's attacks against what he called a “double-tailed monster” that rang loudest in the ornate General Assembly room. “Immigration and the high cost of so-called green, renewable energy is destroying a large part of the free world and a large part of our planet,” he said. “Countries that cherish freedom are fading fast because of their policies on these two subjects. Both immigration and their suicidal energy ideas will be the death of Western Europe.” “I'm telling you that if you don't get away from the ‘green energy' scam, your country is going to fail. If you don't stop people that you've never seen before that you have nothing in common with, your country is going to fail.” _ President Donald Trump, speech delivered at the United Nations, September 23, 2025 America's eyes are focused on state-wide elections in New Jersey and Virginia, with governors' races and the legislatures which will determine key policies including economic and social issues. HEADLINE: Russian Economic Crisis Driven by Budget Strain and Oil Market Competition GUEST NAME: Michael Bernstam SUMMARY: John Batchelor speaks with Michael Bernstam about Russia's deteriorating economy and budget crisis. After three years of "military Keynesianism" driving manufacturing expansion, the labor force is exhausted and the government faces severe financial constraints. The new budget forecasts declining capital investment for the first time in decades, with military spending dropping 5.8% nominally. Russia increased profit taxes from 20% to 25% and is raising the value-added tax. Oil revenues, providing one-third of budget income, are declining due to global competition. With production costs of $42-44 per barrel plus required $15 discounts, Russia cannot compete effectively. The US shale revolution, producing 14 million barrels daily, drives OPEC's market share fight. OPEC's October 5 meeting will determine November quotas, with increases of at least 137,000 barrels per day expected, accelerating price declines. Taiwan purchases NAFTA, a refined oil product essential for semiconductors, from Russia at $70-80 per barrel, but only due to discounts. Bernstam concludes that capitalism, markets, and technological revolution—not military action—will ultimately challenge Russia, as US technological progress has added 8 million barrels of oil daily since 2004.

In this Friday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, we cover the third day of the government shutdown, new polling on political violence, a Minnesota immigration bust, shocking revelations in the Epstein case, crackdowns on unsafe foreign truck drivers, the rising cost of AI power demands, European drone threats, the UK's immigration and crime crisis, a free speech case in Switzerland, a new defense pact in the Pacific, and the science of living to 117. Quick hits to set your radar for the weekend.   Day Three of the Shutdown: Trump celebrated, “I can't believe the Radical Left Democrats gave me this unprecedented opportunity.” He is targeting Democrat-leaning agencies and clawing back billions from NYC's subway system and Biden's green energy projects to fund AI and mineral wars.   Poll on Political Violence: NPR and PBS found 30 percent of Americans say violence may be necessary to “steer the country in the right direction,” up from 19 percent last year. Bryan warns that equals 60 million people.   Immigration Fraud Bust in Minnesota: Operation Twin Shield uncovered 275 likely cases of sham marriages, fake jobs, and forged documents. Nationwide “neighborhood checks” are set to follow.   Epstein Blackmail Claims: Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, a former neighbor, said Epstein's massage room “was on video” and called him “the greatest blackmailer ever.” His account echoes Cindy McCain's 2020 remark that “we all knew” what Epstein was doing.   Foreign Truck Driver Crackdown: DOT Secretary Sean Duffy imposed strict new visa, immigration, and English requirements after finding 25 percent of California CDLs are bogus. Trucking groups applauded the move.   AI Sends Power Bills Higher: Bloomberg reports AI data centers pushed utility costs up $16.1 billion in the PJM grid, raising household bills. But Johns Hopkins found AI can predict surgical complications better than doctors, offering life-saving potential.   Russia's Shadow Fleet and Drone Threats: France detained a Russian oil tanker tied to drones buzzing Denmark. Bryan warns adversaries could launch drones or missiles from disguised ships off U.S. shores.   UK's Crisis of Immigration and Crime: A Syrian named Jihad al-Shamie attacked a synagogue, while a British blogger was arrested for posting “F- Hamas.” Seven Pakistani men were sentenced for grooming gangs, and the NHS briefly praised first-cousin marriage before pulling the report.   Swiss Man Jailed for Free Speech: He refused to pay fines for calling gender ideology a “mental illness” and chose 10 days in jail. Bryan notes Trump and Vance are right to warn Europe is committing “national suicide.”   Pacific Defense Pact: Papua New Guinea signed a deal with Australia, reversing a drift toward Beijing and securing vital waters for U.S. and allied navies.   Life at 117: Spanish researchers studied a woman who lived to 117, crediting strong gut bacteria, olive oil, daily walks, and plain yogurt. Bryan quipped, “Unless you live in Portland, where Antifa will get you first.”   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32     Keywords: Trump government shutdown day three, Trump cuts Democrat agencies, NYC subway green energy clawback, NPR PBS poll political violence, Minnesota Operation Twin Shield sham marriages, Epstein blackmail Howard Lutnick massage room, Cindy McCain Epstein hiding in plain sight, Sean Duffy DOT truck driver crackdown, AI data center power bills Bloomberg, Johns Hopkins AI surgical risk, France detains Russian tanker drones Denmark, UK Jihad al-Shamie synagogue attack, UK blogger arrested Hamas post, UK grooming gangs Pakistani men, NHS cousin marriage report, Switzerland man jailed free speech skeletons, Papua New Guinea Australia defense pact, Spain woman age 117 gut bacteria

Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four Thursday takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Who Do You Trust? Clay Travis outlines a Gallup poll that reveals trust in the media has plummeted to a record low of just 28%, compared to over 70% in 1980. Clay explores why Americans no longer trust legacy media, citing misinformation during COVID-19 and the Russia collusion narrative. He challenges listeners to share which media figures they still trust, emphasizing the difference between agreeing with someone’s opinion and trusting their factual accuracy. Make it Make Sense Clay also breaks down the controversy over illegal immigrants receiving healthcare benefits in the Democrats’ continuing resolution. While Democrats claim federal funds aren’t directly paying for undocumented healthcare, Clay explains how federal dollars flow to states like California, New York, and Illinois, which then allocate funds for these services. He ties this to COVID-era spending that Democrats want to make permanent, warning that these embedded costs are fueling the shutdown fight. Practicing Gratitude Clay continues the conversation on the collapse of trust in media, sparked by a Gallup poll showing confidence at historic lows. Clay shares listener reactions and humorously calls out fellow radio host Jesse Kelly for ordering $75 tequila shots, tying it into a broader discussion about gratitude and humility in media. Clay argues that many in mainstream media lack appreciation for their privileged positions, contrasting that with his own daily practice of gratitude and the conservative ethos of thankfulness for living in America. The American Dream An in-depth interview with Congressman John James, who is running for governor of Michigan. James responds to Al Sharpton’s false claim that Michigan lacks Black congressional representation, calling out identity politics and emphasizing policy over race. He outlines why Michigan will be the epicenter of U.S. politics in 2026 and 2028, citing open gubernatorial and Senate seats, competitive House races, and the state’s pivotal role in presidential elections. James stresses the need for strong Republican leadership to restore trust, improve education, strengthen the economy, and secure election integrity. He also shares his inspiring personal story—from growing up in Detroit to graduating West Point, serving as an Apache pilot in Iraq, and building a successful business—underscoring his commitment to faith, family, and service. Clay's Got Balls! Clay promotes his upcoming book “Balls”, which argues why young men and sports fans should vote Republican, and says he's going to donate all proceeds to charity and asks the audience which charity he should support. Retired Lieutenant General Mark Hertling joins the Beast's Hugh Dougherty to unpack the jaw-dropping spectacle at Quantico, where Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth addressed 800 top military leaders. Hertling breaks down how Military brass in the room really reacted when Trump rambled on about “dangerous cities” as training grounds, mocked rules of engagement, and praised a random World War II documentary made in the 50s. Hertling pulls no punches, calling the speeches “berating,” “embarrassing,” and dangerously out of touch with modern military standards. He explains why generals were silent, what U.S. allies and adversaries are thinking, and the legal and constitutional risks of Trump's orders. From the impact on troop morale to how Russia is exploiting the chaos, Hertling offers an inside look at a Commander-in-Chief unlike any before, and what it means for the military and the nation.
