Mike‘s Search For Meaning

Born and bred in Flatbush, Brooklyn, Orlando Bishop's journey followed a long and winding path, figuratively and literally. Nearly a decade into a sporadic Hollywood career as a writer and producer that had taken him through a gauntlet of near misses with a range of studios and production companies – Fox, MTV and Nickelodeon to name a few – he found himself at a crossroads. How could he be true to his need to create and the desire to serve that had led him to teaching high school English at his alma mater, Poly Prep, in Brooklyn? How could he leverage the unique viewpoint that had delighted audiences in comedy clubs like The World Famous Comedy Store and the Hollywood Improv and his lifelong commitment to helping others find their voices? How, to cut to the chase, could he make a living while honoring the person he had always been and the husband, father and man he'd become?   He looked back over his life and found that the greatest successes he'd experienced — or even witnessed — all pointed to one basic reality: To consistently perform at the highest levels, we must align who we are, where we are and where we want to go. Alignment had been the key as he navigated Flatbush streets to get to the cobblestone paths of Yale University.   Alignment had been key in making his way west to USC's Peter Stark Producing Program where he earned his MFA. Alignment had even been critical in creating the family he shared with his wife, Daphne and their twins, Alex and Maya. Yes, alignment had been key in all those situations, but how does one create it?   In answering that question for himself, Orlando uncovered the questions and insights he now shares with others as they face their own crossroads, personally and professionally. Today, people from all walks of life have used and are using the Align approach to change careers, get promotions and even find the romantic relationships they desire. One might wonder how Orlando can be so confident that the Align approach will work for such a range of clients pursuing such an array of desired outcomes. His answer: “Each person has to define their own line, to walk their own line. What I provide is simply the approach. And I know the Align approach works; it worked for me.”   You can connect with Orlando on: His Website Podcast - Unstuck AF LinkedIn Instagram Facebook Join Orlando's WeAlign Online Community To connect with me: Interested in working with me as your coach? Saya membahas buku Search Inside Yourself karya Chade-Meng Tan.

Marc Lesser is a coach, grandfather, CEO of ZBA Associates, and the Author of four books. The most recently published book is Seven Practices of a Mindful Leader: Lessons from Google and a Zen Monastery Kitchen. Marc asks, "What could your work, and your life, look like if you knew how to stay focused yet flexible, if you got more of the right things done, and if you were helping to create a more peaceful world at the same time?" Marc shares tips on managing uncertainty and understanding that it is a constant truth in life and that as long as we don't resist it, we can be in harmony with not knowing anything with certainty. We discuss his journey of finding zen in college, 10 years at a monastery, becoming an entrepreneur, and finally coming full circle by merging his zen roots with the business of bringing mindfulness into the corporate world. Marc along with Chade-Meng Tan and Mirabai Bush develop the world-renowned Search Inside Yourself (SIY) program within Google – a mindfulness-based emotional intelligence training for leaders which teaches the art of integrating mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and business savvy for creating great corporate cultures and a better world. Today's leaders are challenged with a complexity that can lead to stress and burnout. A mindful leader, according to Marc Lesser, Author, speaker, Zen teacher, "maybe one of THE most important competencies in business today if leaders are to move beyond fear, anxiety, nagging self-doubt, and the feeling of constant overwhelm." "All of us are leaders in one way or another. Marc Lesser applies the power of mindfulness and compassion to guiding and bringing the best out of others." Rick Hanson, Ph.D

Was ist das Geheimnis des Erfolges so verschiedener Menschen wie Bill Gates, Tim Ferriss, Michael Jordan und Ellen DeGeneres? Meditation! 4. Unzufriedenheit ist kein nachhaltiger Antrieb. Aus Negativität kann nichts Positives entstehen. 5. Ausgeglichenheit erreichst du nicht durch Nachdenken. Implementier praktische Übungen in deinen Alltag. 6. What is a Chief Happiness Officer? Thanks for asking! If you search on Google for Chief Happiness Officer positions, you’ll only find around 700 results. While not widespread just yet, the popularity of such a role is definitely on the rise, as more and more companies look to ensure their workers are kept happy. When was born this concept? The concept was born in Silicon Valley, but you can now find CHOs in many other places too, notably France. It’s more common in startups, as larger companies have tended to resist the trend. Nevertheless, there are some examples like Virgin or Southwest Airlines which have been seduced, or at least place a strong emphasis on employee happiness. Chade Meng-Tan was arguably the first Chief Happiness Officer to exist. The Singaporean migrated to the United States and became Google’s 102nd employee, where his official job title was “Jolly Good Fellow”. According to Meng, a manager who displays compassion, humility and ambition is a better manager. Therefore it’s important to create a link with employees, make them feel loyal and invested in the company. What is the HR manager's role? What’s in it for companies then? Inner Leadership is a joint project initiated by two people: Kathy Lim Sheehy and Chade-Meng Tan, with the vision of bringing mindfulness and meditation to modern leaders in Asia. ‍ Through open dialogues, presentations and conversations about mindfulness and meditation, we hope to cultivate enlightened leaders who perceive leadership in terms of other people rather than themselves, encouraging them to focus on their responsibility to others rather than on exercising personal power, and enriching their work and relationships in the process. A core way we hope to do so is by educating people about “selfless attention”, which enables one to focus on others rather than one's own ego, and allows for a clearer perception of the world around oneself. This summit marks the beginning of our journey to bring mindfulness to leaders all across Asia. We've invited thought leaders such as Barry Kerzin, Barbara Fredrickson, Daniel Cordaro, Ng Kok Song, and Greg and Crystal Lim-Lange to share their personal journeys in relation to mindfulness, and the philosophies that make them effective in their work and everyday lives. Mindfulness is quite the buzzword these days. Especially within Silicon Valley, where many tech workers have been known to seek out guidance and spiritual direction in Eastern practices. HBO's Silicon Valley parodied the trend with a tech company CEO who seems to be attached at the hip to his spiritual advisor.  Putting fiction aside though, we've talked a lot about information overload and our addiction to our gadgets. We're living in a world where it is challenging to be mindful. And, well, we all can't afford to have a spiritual guru following us around non-stop. So, we brought in an actual spiritual advisor from the actual Silicon Valley to help bring us more kindness, compassion, and happiness (especially during this election season). His name is Chade-Meng Tan and he's a former Google software engineer where his job title was, "Jolly Good Fellow." After retiring from Google in 2015, Chade-Meng began focusing on bringing mindfulness to the masses. "I'm calling it transformational philanthropy, which is to try to transform human beings. Make peace, joy, compassion the default state of all human beings," he says. In his quest, he recently wrote Joy on Demand: The Art of Discovering the Happiness Within.  And he stopped by N2S to share some simple exercises for us all to find more joy and happiness.
