In the 305th episode of The Main Street Electrical Podcast, Jenn & Dave are ready to talk D23, ready to call our shots on what will be announced, and ready to be disappointed when nothing we want comes to fruition... and to help with all of the predictions, we invite in Past (and future) Guest and Friend of the Show, Dave Adams, co-host of the Disney podcast Pod999. Together, the trio shares a little Disney of the week, from Legos to trips to Jenn's Tower elevator.. Dave's huge LEGO purchase.. then a quick chat about the DAS pass, and why parents cannot feel guilty about using services Disney provides... Then, our list of predictions, from Space Mountain to Spaceship Earth, possible Epcot additions and returns, new lands in various parks, how Disney is really gaining momentum in their construction, putting the boot to Universal, and the things we really want to see Josh announce. Take a listen, then watch the Parks presentation this weekend to know if we are right!
D23 is finally here, and we're making our predictions BEFORE Disney takes the stage! Tonight on Sarlacc Digest, we're discussing what we realistically expect from Disney's biggest fan event of the year, and throwing out a few wild long-shot predictions we'd love to see become reality. We'll also dive into the newly announced Star Wars / Marvel comic crossover from Kevin Smith. Is this a fun "what if" adventure, or is Disney taking Star Wars in a direction fans never asked for? Plus, our new How We Do Disney segment takes a look at the latest changes coming to Galaxy's Edge, including the return of Original Trilogy characters to Batuu. Finally, we'll head Beyond the Pit and geek out over everything we've been watching, reading, and collecting outside of Star Wars. Between Midsummer Scream and earnings week, this issue is dense. Disney, Six Flags, and United Parks dropped earnings, and the news is positive overall for our industry. Universal has a strong reputation, but Six Flags now operates the most haunted mazes in the world: 107, added to parks that already have infrastructure and passholders. HHN Hollywood is leaning into independent films where they have more leeway, with an original Slash score, the event's first-ever singing villain, and a twisted children's storybook Terror Tram scored by Ice Nine Kills. In this issue:- Q2 Theme Park Earnings and What They Tell Us About the Consumer- Six Flags Plans 107 Haunted Houses for Halloween 2026- Slash Scored HHN Hollywood's Killceañera House- Art the Clown Takes Over the Terror Tram With "Every Day Is Artmas"- HHN Hollywood Adds Hidden Character From Curry Barker's "Obsession"- The LA Haunted Hayride Adds an '80s Rock Maze and Brings Back Elvira- Queen Mary's Dark Harbor Will Murder One of Its 13 Icons Live- Midsummer Scream Moves to Anaheim for 2027- Spirit Halloween's Owner Is Buying Hot Topic- A Real Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Opens at American Dream in 2027- Diablo Mazes Land at Cedar Point and Kings Dominion- Six Flags Magic Mountain's Fright Fest Adds Final Destinationhttps://mailchi.mp/hauntedattractionnetwork.com/quality-vs-quantity-universal-and-six-flags-split-halloween
Asking questions about character motivation that Marvel never put to Echo Struggling actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman) hides his destructive ionic powers to land his dream role as Wonder Man in this 2026 Disney+ series. But can Iron Man 3's Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley) really expect to shed his Mandarin image if he's gonna villainously turn his super-scene partner into the Department of Damage Control? And shouldn't Hollywood be giving an Oscar to anyone who can permanently show Josh Gad the door? Wisconsin Democrats narrowly chose Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley over Democratic Socialist state representative Francesca Hong in the gubernatorial primary, 39.8 percent to 39.4 percent. It's close enough that this might be headed to a recount, but it doesn't appear that Hong won. Crowley, who was endorsed by Governor Tony Evers, will face Trump-endorsed Republican representative Tom Tiffany. The result halted the progressive left's recent primary momentum, but it still showed its strength in a battleground state. What you're probably going to hear about is the polling. After the polls wildly overestimated Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, the final State Navigate poll had Hong at 44 percent and Crowley at 22 percent — a 22-point Hong lead. Instead, Crowley won by 0.4 percent. That's a 22.4-point miss on the margin. Jeez Louise. Hong's vote share wasn't wildly off; the poll totally underestimated Crowley. The question is why these polls keep overrepresenting progressive-leaning voters. One theory is that more polls are using online surveys. The old problem with landline calls was that they overrepresented boomers because nobody under 60 had a landline. Nobody answers an unfamiliar number on a cellphone, so that leaves online responses, which might overrepresent progressives. It's also worth noting that the DSA endorsed Hong, but Bernie Sanders and AOC didn't. Pure DSA play isn't good enough to get you over the hump, even in a Democratic primary. Bernie and AOC provide some wiggle room away from the DSA's baggage.Politics Politics Politics is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Next door, Minnesota Democrats delivered a decisive progressive victory as Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan defeated Representative Angie Craig by 20 points for the open Senate nomination. Flanagan overcame a major spending disadvantage after attacking Craig's immigration record, particularly her 2025 vote expanding ICE authority. Republicans nominated former NFL reporter Michele Tafoya, but barring huge changes in the race, Flanagan is going to be Minnesota's next senator. In the governor's race, Amy Klobuchar easily secured the Democratic nomination, while state House speaker Lisa Demuth defeated Trump-backed My Pillow founder Mike Lindell. Please raise your combs in celebration.South Carolina's emergency election to replace Lindsey Graham is headed to an August 25 runoff between interim senator Darlene Graham and Representative Ralph Norman. Graham, Lindsey's sister and Trump's endorsed candidate, finished first with 32.7 percent. Norman took the second spot with 24.6 percent, narrowly eliminating Representative Russell Fry. The vote was pretty split, and I don't know whether Darlene has the juice to keep Norman off. A lot of Republicans were already angry that she decided to seek the seat permanently instead of serving as a placeholder. Ralph Norman has a real shot. The kiss of death for Darlene would be the double endorsement — a double Trump endorsement.Former Hartford mayor Luke Bronin also defeated 14-term Democratic representative John Larson, 54 percent to 33 percent. Larson, 78, became the seventh House Democrat defeated in a primary this cycle, while Governor Ned Lamont won renomination. In Alabama, Trump-endorsed Republican Rhett Marques advanced to face Democratic representative Shomari Figures in the redrawn Second District, where the Black voting-age population was reduced from 48 percent to 40 percent.Chapters00:00:00 - Intro00:05:42 - Tuesday Primary Results00:16:18 - Exploring Disney's America with Andrew Heaton01:19:36 - Wrap-up This is a public episode. There's a version of us that only shows up at Disney — a little lighter, a little more present, and somehow more ourselves. In this episode of Living by Disney, host Serena sits down with Julie Voris, a lifelong Disney lover turned Walt Disney World cast member and photographer, for a conversation about joy and the people we get to become in the parks.Together they explore why Disney gives us so much joy, how it invites us to drop the weight we usually carry, and what it means to live that joy out loud, both inside the parks and beyond. This is a warm, honest conversation about permission, presence, and the softest, truest versions of ourselves. Whether you're planning your next trip or just missing that feeling of home, this episode will leave you feeling seen… and a little more hopeful. You can find more of Julie on her website, and follow her on Instagram! If you enjoyed today's show please consider leaving us a review and let us know what you thought! Which version of you shows up when you pray?In this reflection on Psalm 55, John Ortberg explores a surprising truth about prayer: God doesn't want the cleaned-up, polished, "Disney version" of you. He wants the real you.The Psalms aren't theological essays or collections of perfectly polished emotions. They're raw prayers from real human beings bringing fear, anger, anguish, confusion, and desire honestly before God.John connects this idea to the original story of The Adventures of Pinocchio, which is much darker and more spiritually suggestive than the famous Disney adaptation. Pinocchio is lovingly created by his father, rebels against him, rejects his conscience, and longs for something he cannot accomplish on his own: to become real. And that's where Pinocchio's story intersects with ours.Transformation doesn't begin when we finally become the person we think God wants. It begins when the person we actually are becomes willing to stand honestly before Him.In this episode:Psalm 55 and honest prayerWhy every emotion in the Psalms isn't necessarily an instructionBringing our troubled thoughts before GodThe surprising theology of PinocchioConscience, rebellion, and the love of the FatherBiblical echoes of Jonah and the Prodigal SonMoving from a heart of stone to a heart of fleshWhy transformation begins with getting realScriptures:Psalm 552 Timothy 3:16–17Hosea 11:3Luke 15Jonah 1–2Matthew 12:38–40Ezekiel 36:26#Psalm55 #JohnOrtberg #Prayer #Psalms #Pinocchio #SpiritualFormation #ChristianFaith #BibleStudy #HonestPrayer #Transformation

Looking back on 30 years together, we decided to do what we always swore we wouldn't: sit through a timeshare presentation—again. In this episode, we walk you through our journey from budget vacationers chasing Disney tickets to more seasoned travelers with a bit more money and a lot less patience for high-pressure sales tactics. Cassie, Daurie, and special guest Maddie tackle Disney's live action remake of The Little Mermaid in our final episode of this Little Mermaid revisit. A minor miscommunication leads to slightly different approach for the episode -- can Daurie and Cassie convince Maddie, a lifelong lover of Disney's animated Little Mermaid, to watch the live action and give it a try? You'll also learn what this movie has to do with picture books, the 95 Pride and Prejudice, and Cassie's production of The Lightning Thief; which change from the animated movie causes the most heated debate; and perhaps most importantly, how many times Cassie accidentally calls Triton "Trident."The main discussion starts at the 7:50 mark. You can find Maddie on Substack: https://open.substack.com/pub/atthehearthwithmaddieJoin our community! A two-hour wait in the summer heat. Overpriced churros. A parking lot that takes 45 minutes to escape. And yet - you remember every single ride, every firework, every detail. That's not an accident. That's Disneyland. Disney doesn't create magic through one big moment. They create it through thousands of tiny, intentional details working together. And in this episode, we dig into what that means for B2B marketers with our special guest Kris Lande, CMO at OutSystems. Together, we explore how to design end-to-end customer experiences that people actually remember, why the last impression is the lasting impression, and how to build community into your content strategy in a way no AI-generated campaign can replicate. About our guest, Kris Lande Kris Lande is Chief Marketing Officer of OutSystems, where she leads global marketing strategy and brand growth. With more than two decades of experience driving marketing for high-growth SaaS companies, Kris brings deep expertise in product marketing, category creation, and community-led growth. Before joining OutSystems, Kris spent over 13 years at Salesforce, where she led teams across product marketing, developer relations, and Trailhead. Earlier in her career, she led marketing at Escapia, a SaaS startup later acquired by Expedia. Kris holds a degree in Business Administration and International Business from Washington State University. About OutSystems OutSystems is the Agentic Systems Platform for companies who need to build governed AI apps and agents, fast. Global brands like Heineken and Bosch trust OutSystems every day to build everything from mission-critical life-saving apps to AI agents that can automate their oldest, clunkiest legacy processes. Essentially, OutSystems gives our customers comprehensive AI tools under one secure roof, turning IT into a fast-moving innovation engine. What B2B Marketers Can Learn From Disneyland: The last impression is the lasting impression. Disney doesn't just nail the opening - they engineer the ending. Kris applies this directly to her event strategy: at OutSystems ONE, their annual conference in Amsterdam, the closing session ended with a full spirit tunnel - staff lining the exit with music, dancing, and high fives. "I want them to walk away feeling gratitude and feeling celebrated and feeling energized as they walked out that door." In B2B, most experiences just... end. The brands that create magic are the ones that design the goodbye. Identify friction points - then design around them, not away from them. Disney doesn't eliminate the wait. They make the queue part of the experience. Kris takes the same approach to events: knowing that European attendees tend to arrive late, her team put a mobile DJ, a saxophone player, and stroopwafels outside the doors before the morning keynote. "We made it a party outside because we knew that was going to be a friction point." The lesson: don't pretend friction doesn't exist. Find it, name it, and design something remarkable around it. Everyone's in marketing - culture is how you deliver on the brand promise. Disney's magic doesn't live in one department. It lives in every cast member, every queue, every trash can placement. Kris ties this to a principle she carries into every team: "Brand is a promise to the customer, and culture is how you actually deliver on that promise." That culture comes through in the SDR call, the webinar, the email copy - everywhere. "I believe everyone's in marketing. As employees, we are representatives of the culture." Quote"When you care and you're passionate about the details, your customers are gonna feel that. They can feel when you care about something. They can feel when you brought fun into something. And if you care, they will care." - Kris Lande Time Stamps [1:35] Meet Kris Lande, CMO at OutSystems [2:08] Why Disneyland? A Non-Disney Adult Makes the Case [4:06] What Is Disneyland? In 2021, I, Tonya and future Supergirl director Craig Gillespie unleashed the live-action origin story of Disney's 101 Dalmatians baddie Cruella De Vil. Emma Stone dons the iconic black-and-white wig as the dognapping fashionista, here an orphaned up-and-coming designer in '70s punk rock London who also does crime. Emma Thompson plays her foil, the Baroness, an established couturière, in the story by The Devil Wears Prada screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna. With her little dog, too, comes an ensemble cast including Mark Strong, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, John McCrea, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste. Released in the dog days of the Covid-19 pandemic, the flick floundered at the box office while getting a simultaneous PVOD release for stay-at-home viewing, but still managed to fleece audiences for $233 million. However, it did go on to appropriately earn an Oscar for Best Costume Design for Jenny Beavan, and was also spotted among the nominees for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Now we're going to the dogs and checking in on the future mistress of Hell Hall with Cruella! For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. Send us a Question!REBROADCAST MOVIE DISCUSSION: Melvin & Dan can only agree on one thing: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is, in fact, a Marvel movie. To focus their attention, Melvin proposes four ambitions that he feels will make-or-break the film for audience members. (originally released November 16th, 2022)Topics:(PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 44-minutes discussing Kevin Conroy's passing, Video Rental store nostalgia, and media curation (PATREON EXCLUSIVE) Melvin liked that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had a somewhat self-serious profile as opposed to the more flippant, light sensibilities of other Marvel fare. However, Melvin has four headers - ambitions - that he observed within Black Panther: Wakanda Forever that he felt prevented him from "buying in" to the fiction of the film but may actually be beneficial qualities to certain audience members. His first point covers the film's global stage for a political drama between potentially warring counties. His second point covers the personal character stories within the film. A brief aside from the points, Melvin and Daniel agree: the suits at the end of the movie aren't that good. Melvin's third point has to do with the film's metatextual pairing of T'Challa's fictional death and Chadwick Boseman's real-life death. Melvin's final point covers what he would consider inefficient pacing, such as scenes clearly setting up future movies, or scenes having only one purpose at a time rather than being dynamic in detail. In other news, Ghost of Yōtei is getting a new expansion as part of a Complete Edition. The new story content, Echoes of Sekigahara, will be accompanied by a new survival mode. And finally, Disney has announced a Kingdom Hearts panel at their upcoming D23 fan convention. The panel will livestream this Friday at 4:30pm PT.
(Spoiler Section Length: 6min 13sec)When it comes to Disney animated sequels, there's an accepted canon when it comes to which ones are half-decent and which are the bottom of the barrel. In that canon, Return of Jafar is often considered the latter, but this podcast doesn't exactly agree with that opinion. What then of Hunchback II, which is also often considered among the worst? It's often derided for how different in tone it is from the original, for how boring the plot is and for how awful the animation is. Do we agree? Is it truly the worst of the worst? Let's find out!
Somebody Knows Something is a true crime series that asks whether the internet's obsession with unsolved cases, Reddit threads, true crime social media, armchair detectives, can actually help crack cases that have gone cold. Kara Chamberlain and executive producer Ari Mark join the show to talk about it. Kara, who hosts the series, brings a deeply personal understanding of violent crime to these stories: she's a kidnapping survivor herself. This episode covers the show's first two cases: the disappearance of baby Sabrina Aisenberg, missing from her crib in Valrico, Florida since November 1997, and the disappearance of 16-year-old LaShaya Stine, last seen in Aurora, Colorado in July 2016. Kara and Ari talk about why they chose these two cases, what they uncovered while making the series, and what it means for families who've been asking people to pay attention for years to finally have a platform that might reach the right person. Somebody Knows Something premieres on Freeform and streams the next day on Hulu and Disney+. We're kicking off Resort Wars: Showdown, a brand-new phase of our popular series where previous Resort Wars winners return to face each other head-to-head. From here, the winners keep advancing until only one Walt Disney World resort is left standing as the ultimate Resort Wars champion. Our first Showdown features two fan-favorite Moderate Resorts with very different personalities: Disney's Coronado Springs Resort vs. Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside. We put these former champions through our familiar Resort Wars categories, comparing them on theming and atmosphere, rooms and comfort, dining and drinks, transportation and location, recreation and amenities, and overall value. Coronado Springs brings Gran Destino Tower, an impressive dining and lounge lineup, beautiful grounds, and amenities that can sometimes make it feel more Deluxe than Moderate. Riverside counters with peaceful Southern charm, gorgeous landscaping along the Sassagoula River, boat transportation to Disney Springs, classic Disney atmosphere, and one of the most relaxing resort experiences on property. Plus, we bring in the listener vote to see which resort the Main Street Magic community thinks deserves to advance. Two Resort Wars winners enter the Showdown. Only one moves on. Which resort survives the first battle?

In Episode 157, hosts Alyce and Laura are* worried about Olivia Coleman in the upcoming movie, Wicker. I mean… splinters… There are a lot of corrections. We're not sorry though, our Caravan of Corrections gives us content during slow news cycles Star Wars Visions: The Ninth Jedi series dropped all episodes on August 5. Have you watched? Tell us what you think! D23 is happening next weekend. There are a few panels we're hoping someone will livestream or livetwe-- uh, what is the Bluesky equivalent of livetweeting? A Welsh dub of Star Wars: A New Hope? FINALLY! Never stop never stopping making fun of the fact that the Ahsoka show had the balls to go 4 years in between seasons “Remember Furbies? I miss those little guys” -said no one ever. But Disney Parks won't let that stop them from breeding these unholy Furby-Ewok hybrids. Bae (aka Ewan McGregor) and Anne Hathaway are out here promoting their new non-Jurassic-Park dinosaur movie, but the real news is Bae still wants to do more Obi-Wan. The Mando movie won the week on Video on Demand, but that victory is equivalent to being the best shot in a platoon of stormtroopers. But this dude claiming to be the CEO of Disney says a win is a win. Starfighter keeps on Starfighting, this time in the MCU. “I can't wait to watch Robot Chicken at the Lucas Museum,” said someone who only kinda browsed this article. How do you bring back one of television's most beloved environments when almost none of the original scenery or plans still exists?Emmy-nominated Production Designer Denise Pizzini and Set Decorator Bethany Barton reveal how their team recreated the original Muppet Theatre for the Disney+ special The Muppet Show.Using screenshots, extensive research and one surviving drawing of Kermit's backstage office, they reconstructed the theatre's architecture, auditorium, backstage spaces, practical lighting and decades of beautifully controlled clutter.Denise and Bethany explain the hidden engineering required to design simultaneously for Muppets, puppeteers and human performers—from elevated stages and hollow counters to removable chair backs, adjustable furniture and performer pits. They also take us inside Sabrina Carpenter's glittering cowboy bar, Miss Piggy's Bridgerton-inspired ballroom, the Bayou musical number and Gonzo's practical stunt set with real fire and sparks. It's a detailed look at nostalgia, scale, fabrication and the high-stakes scavenger hunt required to make Jim Henson's world feel as though it never stopped living.Hosted by Emmy-winning Set Decorator Kim Wannop.

877 · Disney Worldbuilders Interview with Leslie IwerksDisney Worldbuilders asks a question most of us have never thought to ask... where does a Disney world actually begin? Not the land. Not the ride. The moment before any of it existed, when it was still just a feeling inside one person's head. This week I sit down with Leslie Iwerks, director of The Imagineering Story and Disneyland Handcrafted, to talk about her ambitious new documentary. Disney Worldbuilders brings together Bob Iger, Josh D'Amaro, James Cameron, Kevin Feige, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Pete Docter, Jennifer Lee, and Jared Bush for a series of remarkably candid conversations about how deeply personal ideas become stories, characters, and physical worlds that millions of people can walk into.I had the privilege of screening the film before its release, and it is even better than I hoped. In our conversation, Leslie shares:Why so many of today's most influential creators were Disney fans first, and what that says about the parksHow personal struggles and childhood memories shaped stories like Frozen, Inside Out, and ZootopiaThe brutal note Jared Bush received on an early version of Zootopia, and what pulled it back from the edgeWhy Kevin Feige's favorite detail in any Disney land is a construction wallWhy story and technology have always worked together at Disney, going back to Walt and UbWhat creative failure, uncertainty, and rejection can teach the rest of usHow great leadership protects storytellers and creative riskWhy honoring Disney's history cannot mean being afraid to evolve itThe moment Leslie filmed that became the emotional heart of the filmLeslie also reflects on her grandfather, Disney Legend Ub Iwerks, and her father, Disney Legend Don Iwerks, and how their legacy of combining storytelling and technology continues through Disney's worldbuilders today. She does not just study world builders. She comes from them.Disney Worldbuilders premieres at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on August 16 and begins streaming on Disney+ on August 20.Subscribe to WDW Radio so you never miss an episode.
