UN 'deeply concerned' over babies freezing to death in Gaza "The United Nations has raised alarms after a one-month-old baby in Gaza froze to death. It is Gaza's eighth such tragedy in less than three weeks amid Israel's genocidal war. UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric condemned the preventable deaths and urged for the protection of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid. Over the weekend, 37 UN-led missions faced hurdles, with only 12 completed and 15 denied outright." Strong earthquake kills dozens in Tibet "A powerful earthquake struck the Tibet region of China near the Nepalese border, killing at least fifty-three-people, wounding sixty-two and causing significant damage. The quake, reported at magnitude 7.1 by the US Geological Survey, was felt in Nepal and parts of India. Local authorities are assessing the damage and providing assistance to affected areas." US transfers 11 Yemeni Guantanamo detainees to Oman "The United States has transferred 11 Yemeni detainees from the Guantanamo Bay detention center to Oman, reducing the prison population to 15. The Pentagon stated that all detainees were deemed eligible for transfer following a thorough review process. It marks a significant step towards the US government's goal of closing the infamous US prison in Guantanamo." Canada's Trudeau resigns as Liberal Party leader, prime minister "Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his plan to step down, staying on until the Liberal Party selects a new leader. Trudeau, in power since 2015, cited “internal battles” and a loss of support as reasons for his decision. The party's leadership race will coincide with Parliament's suspension until March 24, postponed from January 27. Trudeau's announcement follows a period of political unrest, including the finance minister's abrupt resignation last year." Elon Musk under fire from European leaders for meddling in politics "European leaders are increasingly critical of Elon Musk's political interventions. French President Macron accused Musk of ""directly intervening in elections," while German Chancellor Scholz condemned his ""erratic"" comments. In the UK, Prime Minister Keir Starmer slammed Musk for spreading ""lies and misinformation"" regarding a historical child sex abuse scandal. Musk responded with harsh accusations against Starmer. Musk announced his support for the far-right AfD in Germany and Brexit cheerleader Nigel Farage's Reform party."
US equity futures are slightly firmer on Monday. European markets are trading lower, with losses led by France. Asian equities ended mostly lower as China's underwhelming activity data weighed on sentiment. Focus this week is on the Fed's anticipated 25-bp rate cut during Wednesday's policy meeting, as inflation is seen sufficiently contained to support further easing. Goldman Sachs expects a pause in January, citing a slower pace of reductions ahead. SNB surprised markets last week with a 50-bp cut, while ECB also trimmed rates as expected but shifted to a more dovish tone, signaling the potential for additional cuts in Q1 2025. Political developments in Europe include a confidence vote for German Chancellor Scholz following coalition collapse and ongoing efforts by France's new PM François Bayrou to stabilize governance amid economic challenges.Companies Mentioned: Nippon Steel, US Steel, Capri Holdings, Berkshire Hills, Brookline

Reading Robert DiNiro's words about Donald Trump...I need to share. One of the greatest actors ever says I've spent a lot of time studying bad men. I've examined their characteristics, their mannerisms, the utter banality of their cruelty. Yet there's something different about Donald Trump. When I look at him, I don't see a bad man. Truly. I see an evil one. Over the years, I've met gangsters here and there. This guy tries to be one, but he can't quite pull it off. There's such a thing as “honor among thieves.” Yes, even criminals usually have a sense of right and wrong. Whether they do the right thing or not is a different story — but — they have a moral code, however warped. Donald Trump does not. He's a wannabe tough guy with no morals or ethics. No sense of right or wrong. No regard for anyone but himself — not the people he was supposed to lead and protect, not the people he does business with, not the people who follow him, blindly and loyally, not even the people who consider themselves his “friends.” He has contempt for all of them. Confirmed by the Ministry of Defence in Israel. Israeli children we don't yet know precisely how many, were handcuffed, tortured and then slaughtered, some burned alive by Hamas terrorists. Question: what does one say when a father finds his 8 year old daughter, murdered by Hamas and is relieved to know she wasn't taken hostage by Hamas, to Gaza. That's how eight year old Emily's father feels about having lost Emily to terrorism For the last few years I have focused on how many on the right have polluted their minds - lost their way. Little did I know that one day Hamas would be burning & beheading Jewish children. Many on the left choose not to respond with empathy & indignation. They prefer Antisemitism. I don't have to tell them who they are. And then there are the enablers of Hamas propaganda, like the leader of CUPE Ontario. I'm looking at you - ashamed of you and your enthusiastic willingness to be a useful idiot for Hamas by playing this sophomoric game where ends justify means, when they just don't. Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz says “At this moment, there is only one place for Germany — the place at Israel's side. Our own history, our responsibility arising from the Holocaust, makes it a perpetual task for us to stand up for the security of the State of Israel.” Thank you very much German Chancellor Scholz. Dankeschön

Darrell Castle talks about the continual ascent up the escalation ladder in Ukraine by the United States and NATO. Things are starting to look a lot like 1937 again in Europe as a limited war with limited objectives is expanding into a full-blown combined arms conflict. Transcription / Notes UKRAINE—SOUNDS LIKE WORLD WAR lll Hello, this is Darrell Castle with today's Castle Report. This is Friday the 27th day of January in the year of our Lord 2023. I will be talking about the continual ascent up the escalation ladder in Ukraine by the United States and NATO. Things are starting to look a lot like 1937 again in Europe as a limited war with limited objectives is expanding into a full blown combined arms conflict. Deals are in the making and have been for weeks to supply Western main battle tanks to Ukraine. Those deals will open the door for more and more advanced weapons to be introduced into the struggle. The Ukrainian President pleads for more advanced Western weapons telling the world that Russian “terror” can only be stopped on the battlefield. Several NATO countries have agreed to send advanced offensive weapons into the struggle. Pressure to commit main battle tanks and thus expand the war into a combined arms struggle has been relentless and now it looks certain that the U.S. has succumbed to that pressure. The German Government has been under the most pressure and recently accepted the resignation of the German Defense Minister because of her reluctance to supply Leopard 2 main battle tanks. Poland's tanks came from Germany and the U.S. and are not supposed to be exported without the permission of the country of origin, but now Poland says it with send them with or without permission. The Ukrainian forces know that Russia is only waiting for weather conditions to improve before launching an all out offensive which could prove irresistible with the current supple of weapons. Ukraine has main battle tanks already from Poland and the Czech Republic but those are old Soviet cast offs which have been modernized. What they want now are the best in the world that being the U.S. Abrams, the German Leopards, and the British Challengers. The Leopard is the primary tank for 13 European countries and they have about 2000 scattered around Europe. Those countries would all be expected to contribute under the new agreement. Finland, not yet a NATO member, and located on the Russian border said that it will also send Leopards. The U.S. is the crucial element in the deal because German Chancellor Scholz said that his position depends on that of the U.S. If the U.S. is in and willing to send Abrams tanks then Germany is in as well. German tank maker RheinMetall says it can make 139 more tanks and have the first batch ready by April or May of this year. The British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak pledged to provide Ukraine with its main battle tank, the Challenger 2. Britain is to start by sending 14 Challengers but that is far short of the 300 main battle tanks Ukraine asked for. Don't worry if you were afraid the war might calm down because the Biden administration is right there to make sure it doesn't. From Reuters: “The United States aims to break the dynamic of grinding warfare and near-frozen front lines on Ukraine with newly announced military capabilities that it hopes will breath fresh momentum into Kyiv's battle against Russian forces, a senior Pentagon official said on Wednesday.” The U.S. has announced its latest weapons package worth about $2.85 billion but these new weapons are offensive and designed to be game changers. The first part of the package includes 50 Bradley fighting vehicles, a medium armored platform armed with a 25-mm gun designed to provide safe transport for soldiers on the battlefield. The Bradleys are designed to complement and fight alongside the U.S. Abrams tanks and are a perfect combo for the plains of Eastern Ukraine. The U.S. is sending 18 Paladin 155 mm self-propelled howitzers,
Germany's foreign minister admits Germany is at war with Russia in a stunning statement. German Chancellor Scholz just did an about-face and caved to western pressure by sending Leopard tanks to Ukraine. President Biden is sending an entire battalion of Abrams tanks to Ukraine. This does not end well.
As part of our end-of-year review looking into the biggest decisions of 2022, we look at how Putin's invasion of Ukraine plunged Europe into its biggest security crisis since the Second World War. Just a few days after Putin ordered troops to cross the border into Ukraine, German Chancellor Scholz declared a historic reversal of decades-old policy and a 100 billion euro fund to bolster Germany's armed forces. After leading the UK out of the EU, Boris Johnson suddenly became one of the continent's biggest advocates for defense, spearheading much of the response to Ukraine. And old attitudes to Russia and the West were suddenly reevaluated around the world. The Economist's Anne McElvoy, Prashant Rao of Semafor, and BloombergTV's Maria Tadeo joined One Decision for a look at how the Ukraine war has changed the political map for Europe.
ORN Tom Luongo show notes 11/9/22 Tom's not happy. Worst possible election results. Validates Dems thinking they have an agenda that resonates with people. Resonates with McConnell saying MAGA can't win. Will motivate US politicians to stay on the same economic track. Should have been a Reagan-type landslide. Instead, a few seats got clawed back. Shows people believe the nonsense they've been programmed to believe. Think they have to swallow a lie. Too much media emphasis on what was happening in Florida, rest of country ignored. People are fundamentally divided. They hate us, despise us, set us against each other. Replacement theory verified. Republicans Lauren Boebert out in Co, Kari Lake out in Az. How bad was the cheating? Should have been the bankrupting of George Soros. Instead his people won. Republicans won big in Florida. Trump will be indicted, and this plays into the strategy to boost DeSantis so he can be destroyed on the national level. Impeachment would have happened with bigger wins for the Republicans. Uniparty collapses to protect itself. King Charles III and Klaus Schwab are laughing the hardest this morning. They'll take Trump out like they did Bannon, if he refuses to show up for Congressional subpoenas. FED is at war with Davos, with Europe. Wall Street is moving to Miami, including Jerome Powell FED chief. He's trying to affect a controlled demolition. Source of Europe's real power, old colonial money, is from offshore dollar market. Raising interest rate on dollars affects cost of dollars overseas. Affects European fractional reserve banking. Their offshore dollar market can't absorb increased cost of dollars. FED and Wall Street are done with the European nonsense. US not indexed to LIBOR anymore, we're indexed to domestic metrics of SOFR. Europeans will be forced to trash their currencies. Europe needs Congress to sabotage the FED. Congress does it by spending bills that force FED to monetize the money. $9 trillion on FED balance sheet today. Europe will have to default on $15 trillion before they can go back to a rational banking system. Pensions will crash. Leverage was taken out to save them from crashing, but it is now being eroded. Trying to advance The Great Reset. War with Ukraine will be ginned up. Can have WWIII or lose the republic. US having a diesel food shortage, food shortage, health crisis. Tom has two Patron membership plans. Podcasts at Tom Luongo.me. Capital is usually ahead of the curve. Pick up changes in capital before it becomes readily apparent. DOW outperforming other stock markets. Gold losing money slower than in anything else. Commodities could be a good place to be. No peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia means the price of oil goes up. Is war pending? Globalists need to have a scapegoat for the collapse. The American war hawks on one side and Putin on the other. German Chancellor Scholz is in cahoots to assure no rapprochement between Russia and Ukraine. In Europe, bonds will become perpetual bonds. Pension funds become UBI, universal basic income. They want the same for the US. FED is trying to bankrupt Europe before US falls apart. US civil war is inevitable within 10 years. Watch out if you see Congress pushing for massive spending. The way out of the US fiscal crisis is to issue a 5% gold redemption clause at the end of the bond. China and Russia can also do that. They have gold reserves. Europe can't because European Central Bank doesn't own gold. FED needs lower gold prices before they can offer a gold redemption clause at end of bonds. All US COVID relief funds need to be paid back to the Treasury. The Treasury works for the bad guys. Bernanke changed rates, going against the FED charter, on behalf of the IMF and Europe.

German Chancellor Scholz in Canada to meet with Justin Trudeau. We're told Canadian LNG for Germany facing a gas/energy crisis will not be discussed. Instead, an agreement concerning future (perhaps 30 years from now) hydrogen exports from Canada will be signed. That would have been like Kim Campbell, in 1992, as PM signing a yet to be developed energy agreement for Canada to take effect now, in 2022.) Meanwhile, Germany has again fired up coal plants, will limit public buildings heating this winter to 19 degrees Celsius and is turning off some traffic lights in Berlin in order to save gas.) Other nations turning to coal and fossil fuels again. And what will happen to Canada's energy costs this and in coming winters? Guest: Dan McTeague. Canadians for Affordable Energy.
