For most of us, a fax is just a way to get a document from one place to another. But Shawn Freligh, Senior Vice President & General Manager at Upland Software, recognizes that faxes contain important information that automation can inject into health care sites' workflows. In this video, Freligh explains why faxing is still crucial to health care (and other industries) and how Upland Software uses AI and APIs in "making faxes more intelligent."Upland Software's InterFAX service, which has been providing fax service for decades, has employed common AI technologies such as OCR for a long time. Now, their new InterFAX+AI service bundles many common forms of intelligence useful to health care systems. It's no longer just transferring a document. It's now creating a smart workflow that saves healthcare organizations time and money.Learn more about Upland InterFAX: https://uplandsoftware.com/interfaxHealth IT Community: https://www.healthcareittoday.com/
In Russia stanno tornando i turisti.

Gas inventories in the EU, one of the key indicators for the global market, fell to 85% full in early January after the bloc reported that storages had reached an all-time high of almost 98% in October. Renewable energy generation, such as from wind turbines, dropped in December, covering only about 15% of the EU's energy needs, the data showed, and is expected to decline further amid clear weather and weak winds, which will further boost demand for gas. Meanwhile, Russian energy major Gazprom continues to supply gas for transit to Western and Central Europe through Ukraine via the only remaining gas-pumping station, Sudzha. According to the outlet, the Ukrainian gas transmission system operator said it had received an application from Gazprom to transit 42.4 million cubic meters through Sudzha for Tuesday. This is the highest volume of gas that can technically be pumped via this entry point, according to Gazprom. Source: rt.com Germany likely in recession – Bloomberg Factory output dropped in November amid persisting economic headwinds German industrial production dropped for the sixth straight month in November, likely indicating the country entered a recession in the final quarter of 2023, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, citing data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office. Production slid 0.7% from October, driven by a slowdown in output of capital goods and intermediate goods as German factories struggle amid a downturn in global demand, particularly from China, high interest rates, and expensive energy, the figures showed. The industrial output figures come a day after a report was released showing that German factory orders rose much less than anticipated in November. Orders were up by only 0.3%, well below analyst expectations of a 1.1% increase. source: rt.com https://twitter.com/WallStreetSilv/status/1745457908937326702?s=20 America and Europe to become reliable left-wing voters. https://twitter.com/WallStreetSilv/status/1745123837434355872?s=20 Inflation Reignites: Consumer Prices Rose at a Faster Pace in December Inflation accelerated more than December, marking the thirty-third consecutive month with annual prices rising significantly faster than the two percent target seen as healthy by the Federal Reserve. On the version of Hot off the Wire posted Dec. 22 at 6:15 a.m. CT: For most Americans dreaming of a white Christmas, this year's prospects aren't good. Although parts of the Rockies and Midwest already have snow or could get a fresh dusting by Monday, other parts of the country that are normally coated in white by this time of year are still sporting their drab, late-fall look. Among the areas more accustomed to snowy Decembers is the Northeast, where a powerful storm blew in this week and dumped heavy rain on the region's ski areas, wreaking havoc on the snowpack. So where should snow lovers turn? Alaska, where Anchorage could break its Christmas Day 1994 record of 30 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Holiday travel is expected to hit its peak right around now. Airlines are confident they can handle the crowds, but it could come down to the weather. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg says the government will be holding the airlines accountable to operate smoothly and treat passengers well if there are disruptions. Auto club AAA forecasts that 115 million people in the U.S. will go 50 miles or more from home between Saturday and New Year's Day. That's up 2% over last year. Most of those people will drive, and they will save a bit on gasoline, compared with a year ago. The United Nations says more than a half-million people are starving in Gaza because not enough food has entered the besieged territory as Israel keeps up its blistering campaign of airstrikes and ground operations. Palestinian officials said Friday that the death toll has now exceeded 20,000. That's around 1% of the territory's prewar population. PRAGUE (AP) — Authorities say three foreign nationals, two from the United Arab Emirates and one from the Netherlands, were among 25 wounded when a student opened fire at a university in Prague, killing 14 people. Thursday's mass shooting was the worst in Czech history. The city's police chief says a lone gunman opened fire in the philosophy department building of Charles University, where he was a student. Police said the gunman killed himself. The Czech government declared Saturday a national day of mourning to honor the victims, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said. MOSCOW (AP) — A Russian deputy foreign minister said talks with the United States on a potential prisoner exchange that would free Americans held in Russia are hampered by publicity and an alleged disparity in the U.S. negotiating stance. The U.S. State Department said last week that Russia rejected several proposals for freeing Paul Whelan, an American convicted of espionage, and Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, who was detained in March and is facing espionage charges. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with the Interfax news agency published Friday, “Here, as in many other areas, we observe the American traditional desire to get more for ourselves and give the minimum, as they say.” Over the past 24 hours six Ukrainian civilians have been killed during Russian attacks. TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A jury has cleared three Washington state police officers of all criminal charges in the 2020 death of Manuel Ellis, a Black man who was shocked, beaten and restrained face down on a Tacoma sidewalk as he pleaded for breath. Two of the officers — Matthew Collins, 40, and Christopher Burbank, 38 — had been charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter, while Timothy Rankine, 34, was charged with manslaughter. The Pierce County medical examiner ruled Ellis' death a homicide caused by oxygen deprivation, but lawyers for the officers said a high level of methamphetamine in Ellis' system and a heart irregularity were to blame. A lawyer for Ellis' family says the verdict is devastating for the family and community. NEW YORK (AP) — Rudy Giuliani has filed for bankruptcy. The former New York City mayor is acknowledging severe financial strain that's grown as a result of his pursuit of Donald Trump's lies about the 2020 election and was made worse when jury last week required him to pay $148 million to two former Georgia election workers he defamed. In a bankruptcy filing Thursday in New York, Giuliani listed nearly $153 million in existing or potential debts. That includes almost $1 million in state and federal tax liabilities, as well as money he owes lawyers and many millions of dollars in potential judgments in lawsuits against him. He estimated he had assets worth $1 million to $10 million. NEW YORK (AP) — Honda Motor's American arm is recalling more than 2.5 million vehicles in the U.S. due to a fuel pump defect that can increase risks of engine failure or stalling while driving. According to documents published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the fuel pump impeller used for a range of 2017-2020 Acura and Honda vehicles was improperly molded. This results in low-density impellers, which can deform the fuel pump body over time — leading to an inoperative fuel pump. Honda says it has not received any crash or injury reports related to this recall to date. The automaker added that it would replace fuel pumps for all vehicles impacted by the recall at no cost — but in a staggered approach, with owner notification letters not beginning until February. The Rams win a key game in the NFC playoff race, the Dodgers get standout Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the Pistons are on the threshold of the wrong kind of NBA history, the Lightning strike down the Stanley Cup champs and Kentucky beats its Bluegrass State rival. NEW YORK (AP) — Major League Baseball is widening the runner's lane approaching first base to include a portion of fair territory, changing a more than century-old rule that caused World Series controversy over possible interference calls. MLB also is shortening the pitcher's clock with runners on base by two seconds to 18 and further reducing mound visits in an effort to speed games. The sport's 11-man competition committee also requires a pitcher who warms up on the mound before a half inning to face at least one batter. NEW YORK (AP) — The owner of Pornhub, one of the world's largest adult content websites, has admitted to profiting from sex trafficking and agreed to make payments to women whose videos were posted without their consent. Federal prosecutors in New York announced Thursday that Aylo Holdings reached a deferred prosecution agreement to resolve a charge of engaging in unlawful monetary transactions involving sex trafficking proceeds. The deal calls for the Canadian company to pay the U.S. more than $1.8 million and make separate payments to the female victims. It also requires appointment of an independent monitor to oversee Aylo's operations for three years. —The Associated Press About this program Host Terry Lipshetz is managing editor of the national newsroom for Lee Enterprises. Amid the deadliest war in Europe since World War Two, Russia and the United States are exploring a deal that could see imprisoned Americans including Griner return to the United States in exchange for Bout. “I want to hope that the prospect not only remains but is being strengthened, and that the moment will come when we will get a concrete agreement,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was quoted as saying by Interfax. “The Americans are showing some external activity, we are working professionally through a special channel designed for this,” Ryabkov said. “Viktor Bout is among those who are being discussed, and we certainly count on a positive result.” Who is Viktor Bout, arms dealer linked to swap for Americans held by Moscow? The life of Viktor Bout, the Russian arms dealer jailed in the United States and linked to a possible swap for two US citizens detained by Moscow, sometimes reads like a far-fetched spy thriller. For the two former Cold War foes, now grappling with the gravest confrontation since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, the exchange would mark one of the more extraordinary prisoner swaps in their history. The distinctly upbeat remarks from Ryabkov, the foreign ministry's point man for the Americas and arms control, contrast with previous statements from Moscow which have cautioned Washington against trying to engage in megaphone diplomacy over the prisoner swap. The possible swap includes Griner, facing nine years behind bars in Russia after being convicted on drug charges, and Paul Whelan who is serving a 16-year sentence in Russia after being convicted of espionage charges that he denies. US basketball star Griner's 9-year drug sentence upheld in Russia A Russian court on 25 October dismissed US basketball star Brittney Griner's appeal against a 9-year sentence for possessing and smuggling vape cartridges containing cannabis oil, in a court case that Washington has called “sham.” Bout for Griner Variously dubbed “the merchant of death” and “the sanctions buster” for his ability to get around arms embargoes, Bout was one of the world's most wanted men prior to his 2008 arrest on multiple charges related to arms trafficking. For almost two decades, Bout was one of the world's most notorious arms dealers, selling weaponry to rogue states, rebel groups and murderous warlords in Africa, Asia and South America. But in 2008, Bout was snared in an elaborate US sting. Bout was caught on camera agreeing to sell undercover US agents posing as representatives of Colombia's leftist FARC guerrillas 100 surface-to-air missiles, which they would use to kill US troops. Shortly afterwards, he was a

*) Trump invokes Fifth Amendment to evade questions over alleged fraud Former US president Donald Trump has invoked his Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination as he testified under oath in a NY civil investigation into his business dealings. The Fifth Amendment protects people from being compelled to become witnesses against themselves in a criminal case. Attorney General Letitia James said her office uncovered evidence that Trump's company misled lenders and tax authorities about the value of prized assets like golf courses and skyscrapers. Trump Organization even exaggerated the size of Trump's Manhattan penthouse, saying it was nearly three times its actual size — a difference in the value of about $200 million, James' office says. *) Sierra Leone imposes nationwide curfew after violent protests At least two police officers and a civilian have been killed after a protest descended into clashes between security forces and demonstrators who were demanding the president's resignation. "Two police officers, a male and female, were mobbed to death by protesters at the east end of Freetown," police spokesperson Brima Kamara said on Wednesday. In addition, Reuters reported that a civilian was also killed in the violence. A hospital worker in Freetown said that dozens more had been wounded. *) Ukraine shelling causes ammonia leak in Donetsk – separatists Pro-Russian separatists have accused Ukraine of shelling in the occupied eastern city of Donetsk, killing one person and triggering a leak of ammonia, Interfax news agency reported. The emergency ministry in the Russian-backed so-called Donetsk People's Republic said a shell had hit an ammonia line late at night. It sparked a fire that at one point covered 603 square metres. Pictures from the scene showed flames lighting the sky above one part of the city as well as firefighters donning masks. One picture appeared to show a corpse on the ground. *) Iraq's Sadr gives one-week deadline to judiciary to dissolve parliament Iraqi Shia cleric Muqtada al Sadr has called on the country's judiciary to dissolve parliament by the end of next week. The judiciary "must dissolve parliament by the end of next week... if not, the revolutionaries will take another stance," Sadr said in a statement on his Twitter account. The Iraqi Shia leader has helped inflame tensions in Iraq over the last two weeks by commanding thousands of followers to storm and occupy parliament. And finally… *) African football body launches new Super League to boost local clubs The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched a new lucrative $100 million Super League aimed at injecting financial muscle to the cash-strapped clubs on the continent. Twenty-four clubs, yet to be decided, will take part in the first edition, which has the backing of world governing body FIFA. It will take place between August 2023 and May 2024. CAF president Patrice Motsepe, who announced the new competition, did not say if it would replace CAF's existing Champions League and the second-tier Confederation Cup.

No understanding of the conflict in Ukraine is complete without a firm grasp of the underlying religious rivalry between Ukraine and Russia, which goes back 800 years. In 2018, this rivalry reached a boiling point when the Orthodox Church of Ukraine split from the Russian Orthodox Church. This split has been described as the biggest fissure in Orthodox Christianity in centuries. Did this split precipitate Russia's 2022 attack? Is Putin waging a holy war for the soul of Russia? --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/estacion-online2/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/estacion-online2/support

This week we take you on a time travelling adventure into the past, present and future of Carbon Capture as journalist Amelia Abraham interviews XPRIZE’s own world leaders of Carbontech. First Mike Leitch, Technical Lead, NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE, takes us on a whistle stop tour of Carbontech history. Before XPRIZE, he served as the Research Manager at RGL Reservoir Management, an oilfield manufacturing company based in Edmonton, Canada. There, he worked with a diverse team of engineers and scientists at the University of Alberta to build a comprehensive understanding of little known and little studied aspects of the oil recovery process. To bring us to the present Nikki Batchelor gives us the scoop on where the tech is now. Nikki is the Director of Prize Operations for the NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE. She has served as an Innovation Advisor to USAID on their Grand Challenges for Development initiative, helping to design and execute incentive competitions around energy, health, education, civic engagement, and water. Most recently, she worked as a Senior Strategist at NationBuilder, helping the tech start-up expand into new markets, explore product use cases, and lead marketing efforts. Ms. Batchelor has also managed large grant programs for USAID in Iraq and Afghanistan with DAI, both at home and overseas. Finally to show us the future is Senior Associate for Prize Operations for the NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE is James Burbridge. Before XPRIZE James was a journalist covering international energy and carbon markets. He started his career as an editor in the Shanghai bureau of Interfax, Russia’s largest private news organization. Following three years in China, he moved to Singapore to focus on Asia-Pacific oil markets. Most recently, Mr. Burbridge covered North American carbon markets for the price reporting subsidiary of IHS Markit, where he created a new report for the consultancy focused on California’s environmental compliance programs.Links: http://carbon.xprize.orghttp://xprize.org See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Many attribute the fall of the Soviet Union to the fact that the government lost control of information. At one time, virtually all information that reached the public was under governmental control. In the USSR, the popularization of the fax machine was the first step in the fall of the government. The fax machine became practical, if expensive in the mid 1970s, but by the 1980s, I was in use all over the world. In July of 1989, a man named, Mikhail Komissar, with colleagues from Radio Moscow, start producing a Russian and English language daily news bulletin to meet the need for more extensive, in depth and independent news coverage of the USSR. They called it Interfax. Interfax was one of the first new agencies to begin using fax transmission as a means of information delivery. This was an alternative to the expensive special information network terminals on which all world news agencies relied. In November of the same year, the Berlin Wall fell. It was the signal event for a generation that could not even imagine a world without the USSR. And it was a harbinger of the power of information. And here we sit in the information age, with the power of the Internet at our fingertips. And one of the most important skills to be developed in the use of this power is the smart use of the search engines. Because, for the first time in history, I suppose, we have access to far too much information for anyone to assimilate. Alvin Toffler, as far back as 1970; and in his book Future Shock he coined the phrase Information Overload to describe this phenomenon—not so much in religion, but in society as a whole. It affects our lives in more ways than we think. Causes of the problem include: A rapidly increasing rate of new information being produced. The ease of duplication and transmission of data across the Internet. An increase in the available channels of incoming information (e.g. telephone, email, instant messaging, rss feeds). Large amounts of historical information to dig through. Contradictions and inaccuracies in available information. A low signal to noise ratio. A lack of a method for comparing and processing different kinds of information. Learning the techniques is vital. Because the powerful are still lying to us constantly. Now don't get me wrong. I am not into conspiracy theories. They mean well. They think that the lies are justified by the good they are trying to accomplish. The ends justify the means is one of the oldest and most vile of the excuses for political corruption. I was surprised, no, shocked, by something I read recently about the issue of abortion...

Līdz ar to impīčmenta process tur visticamāk apstāsies.
You have made it to the weekend, here's the top stories of today. From the BBC Why Terminator: Dark Fate is sending a shudder through AI labs Arnold Schwarzenegger means it when he says: "I'll be back," but not everyone is thrilled there's a new Terminator film out this week. In labs at the University of Cambridge, Facebook and Amazon, researchers fear Terminator: Dark Fate could mislead the public on the actual dangers of artificial intelligence (AI). AI pioneer Yoshua Bengio told BBC News he didn't like the Terminator films for several reasons. "They paint a picture which is really not coherent with the current understanding of how AI systems are built today and in the foreseeable future," says Prof Bengio, who is sometimes called one of the "godfathers of AI" for his work on deep learning in the 1990s and 2000s." From The Guardian Javid: government will push for general election 'again and again' Sajid Javid has said the government will repeatedly push for a general election if parliament rejects Boris Johnson's motion on Monday, as electoral administrators outlined potential problems with a pre-Christmas election including a lack of polling stations and late postal votes. Johnson on Thursday night threatened to pull his Brexit deal if Jeremy Corbyn rejected the offer of a general election on 12 December, but Labour appeared poised to block Monday's motion by telling MPs to abstain. The party has said it will only back an early election when a no-deal Brexit scenario can be firmly ruled out. From Sky News Russian troops patrol Syrian border following deal with Turkey The deal will see Syrian government forces establish 15 posts along the border, according to the Interfax news agency. As Russian troops began their patrols, US President Donald Trump said Turkey was making the ceasefire permanent, prompting him to lift sanctions imposed on Turkish imports in response to the recent violence "unless something happens that we are not happy with". Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan echoed Russia's demand for Kurdish soldiers to retreat, saying his military would resume its offensive in northeastern Syria if neither Russia or the US ensured the Syrian Kurdish fighters were removed. That's all for today! Have a great weekend !
MORE Documents Implicate Joe Biden in Ukraine Scandal, Politician Says Joe Was Paid $900K By Burisma.A Ukrainian MP has issued a statement and released documents alleging that Joe Biden himself was paid $900,000 in exchange for consulting services by Burisma. The story, reported by Interfax, directly implicates Joe Biden and if true would present a scenario in which Joe Biden got a prosecutor fired to protect himself from investigation. The issue in the end for all of us is who to trust. Do we trust this Ukrainian politician? Well the media reported that Hunter Biden and Joe did nothing wrong, but their source? A Ukrainian political figure. In the end it seems like we have no way to know who is telling the truth unless the US launches an investigation into Joe Biden. At the very least, even if the latest allegations are true Joe has been accused for a while of enriching himself and his family with the office. It is common "soft corruption" and we all know it happens.Regardless of the latest claims against Trump, Democrats, Or Biden we need to stop pretending the nepotism and corruption doesn't exist.Even many leftists have come out slamming the Bidens for their misuse of public office and at the very least we can all agree on that.If these new allegations are true then Trump would be right to want it investigated and it makes an absurd reason for impeachment. Regardless though, the call with Ukraine by Trump pushed it regardless if it warrants the calls to impeach. In the end the best we can hope for is that this matter is investigated properly and fairly.Support the show (http://timcast.com/donate)
Svetlana Petrenko, a spokeswoman for Russia's Investigative Committee, said in a statement that only 37 out of 78 people on board had survived, meaning 41 people had lost their lives. No official cause has been given for the disaster. The Investigative Committee said it had opened an investigation and was looking into whether the pilots had breached air safety rules. Some passengers blamed bad weather and lightning. "We took off and then lightning struck the plane," the Komsomolskaya Pravda daily cited one surviving passenger, Pyotr Egorov, as saying. "The plane turned back and there was a hard landing. We were so scared, we almost lost consciousness. The plane jumped down the landing strip like a grasshopper and then caught fire on the ground." State TV broadcast mobile phone footage shot by another passenger in which people could be heard screaming. President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev expressed their condolences and ordered investigators to establish what had happened. The Interfax news agency cited an unnamed "informed source" as saying the evacuation of the plane had been delayed by some passengers insisting on collecting their hand luggage first. Russian news agencies reported that injured passengers were being treated in hospitals. DEBRIS IN THE ENGINES The Flightradar24 tracking service showed that the plane had circled twice over Moscow before making an emergency landing after just under 30 minutes in the air. The plane's under-carriage gave way on impact and its engines caught fire. Interfax cited a source as saying the plane had only succeeded making an emergency landing on the second attempt and that some of the aircraft's systems had then failed. The emergency landing was so hard that debris had found its way into the engines, sparking a fire that swiftly engulfed the rear of the fuselage, the same source said. Russian investigators said they were looking into various versions. Russian news agencies reported that the plane had been produced in 2017 and had been serviced as recently as April this year. Aeroflot has long shaken off its troubled post-Soviet safety record and now has one of the world's most modern fleets on international routes where it relies on Boeing and Airbus aircraft. Gov. Andrew Cuomo said on Monday that he understood concerns about religious freedom, but “public health comes first.” A spokesman for the Democratic governor said he would review the bill and other measures that respond to the outbreak. Most rabbis in New York City’s Orthodox communities endorse vaccination, said Rabbi Dr. Aaron Glatt, a practicing Orthodox rabbi and chairman, department of medicine, Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital. Only three states—California, Mississippi and West Virginia—ban religious exemptions for immunization, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Legislators in several states have pushed in recent months to remove parents’ ability to claim religious, philosophical or personal exemptions for vaccination.

On June 20, 2018, Russia’s state run news outlet, Interfax, reported that the government had issued its seventh Red notice seeking the arrest of hedge fund manager Bill Browder. Browder, founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management, joined Target USA to talk about the intensified efforts to capture him and, in his words, eventually… kill him.
The news has been full of stories in the past few weeks relevant to what we cover here on Strange Fruit. So rather than put them into a Juicy Fruit segment, we decided to do a whole news round-up show, to provide some analysis of the systemic and historic context behind the current headlines. We cover Dr. David Dao's rough treatment by United Airlines, and White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer's remarks about Hitler. Both include examples of soft language, where "re-accommodation" means a concussion, a broken nose, and two missing teeth, and "holocaust centers," are better known as concentration camps. The phrase concentration camp conjures up images that are unspeakably awful but seem safely behind us, but reports out of Chechnya this month call that safety into question. Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta reports that gay men in Chechnya are being subjected to torture, forced into camps, and in some cases, killed. The Chechan government says those reports can't be true, because there are no gay people in Chechnya. “You cannot detain and persecute people who simply do not exist in the republic,” government spokesperson Alvi Karimov told Interfax news agency. “If there were such people in Chechnya, the law-enforcement organs wouldn’t need to have anything to do with them because their relatives would send them somewhere from which there is no returning.”
Greetings, Comrades! I didn't even know how much I can be motivated, when I get really angry. And this time, for a good reason – as Russian propagandists decided to desecrate one of, if not the, most important tragedies in the Baltics – the Vilnius massacre. So in this episode, we expose some very tragic events of the past, looking at the newspaper articles of the time and compare them with what Putin's propaganda machine is spewing out now. And, of course, we look at the workings of that system as well. Pictures for today: The most iconic image from the Vilnius massacre in 13th January, 1991. Soviets ordered tanks to crush people and opened fire at the civilians. The Voice of Riga newspaper, used in the show. The Independent Struggle newspaper from 1991, used in the episode.
