*Trump proposes relocating Palestinians outside Gaza US President Donald Trump has proposed relocating Palestinians from Gaza to neighbouring countries like Egypt and Jordan, an unusual proposal that was opposed by the former administration of Joe Biden. Speaking to reporters ahead of his departure from Los Angeles for Miami, the president said he raised the matter during a telephone call with King Abdullah II of Jordan, and he might talk with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el Sisi on Sunday. The former Biden administration opposed relocating Gaza residents outside the enclave, advocating a return of Palestinians to their homes in the aftermath of a potential peace and a two-state solution. * Seventy Palestinian prisoners reach Cairo The head of the Palestinian Commission of Detainees' Affairs, Qadoura Fares, announced that 70 Palestinian prisoners exiled as part of a prisoner exchange deal in Gaza entered Egyptian territory. Fares told Anadolu news agency that all the prisoners are men with life sentences or long-term sentences, and travel documents are currently being prepared for them. He noted that "the prisoners will be accommodated in a Cairo hotel for a few days, where they will receive all necessary services, and a small ceremony will be organised to honour them before determining their final destinations". * Oil tanker explosion in Nigeria leaves several dead Several victims have been confirmed dead as tragedy struck in Nigeria again when a petrol tanker exploded, according to officials. Multiple sources said that widespread panic affected six other vehicles when the fuel-laden tanker fell while navigating down a hilly busy expressway in Enugu State. Witnesses who shared video of the scene added that no fewer than 15 people, including three children, have been confirmed dead. * North Korea test-fires first cruise missile since Trump's return North Korea conducted a test of a strategic cruise missile, state media KCNA reported. It is the first missile test by Pyongyang since the return of Donald Trump to the White House. The strategic cruise missiles flew 1,500 kilometres, hitting targets without affecting the safety of neighbouring countries. * Trump's 2020 election win could have averted 'Ukrainian crisis': Putin If Donald Trump had been reelected as US president in 2020, the Ukraine crisis that erupted in 2022 might not have occurred, Russian President Vladimir Putin said. In an interview with the Russian Rossiya 1 TV channel on Friday, Putin said that Russia remains open to peace talks on the Ukraine war. He said that Moscow has never rejected contact with the US administration but the previous one opted not to pursue such engagement.

It's Monday, December 9h, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus 10th anniversary of South Korean missionary's imprisonment Last Wednesday, December 4th marked the tenth anniversary of South Korean businessman and missionary Choi Chun-gil's arrest and imprisonment in North Korea, reports Church in Chains. Like the two other South Korean missionaries detained in North Korea for over a decade, Kim Kuk-gi and Kim Jong Uk, Pastor Choi, age 65, is serving a life sentence with hard labor and is being held incommunicado, with no family contact since his arrest. Hebrews 13:3 says, “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them.” The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom reports that Pastor Choi was involved in transporting religious and humanitarian goods for North Koreans and was arrested on December 4, 2014 after he was allegedly lured into going to North Korea. His arrest was announced on March 26, 2015 by North Korea's state news agency KCNA, along with the arrest of Kim Kuk-gi, a Presbyterian pastor and missionary. KCNA described them as “heinous terrorists.”  According to Open Doors, North Korea is the most dangerous country worldwide in which to be a Christian. The 5 times White House Press Secretary said Biden wouldn't pardon Hunter In the lead-up to President Joe Biden's full and unconditional pardon of his son, Hunter, on December 1st, listen to the five times White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked whether he would do so. Here's Reporter #1 on July 27, 2023. REPORTER #1: “Is there any possibility that the President would end up pardoning his son? JEAN-PIERRE: “No. I just said, No. I just answered.” Here's reporter #2 on September 15, 2023. REPORTER #2: “Would the President pardon or commute his son if he's convicted? So, I've answered this question before. It was asked of me not too long ago, a couple of weeks ago, and I was very clear, and I said, No.” Here's Fox News Channel reporter Peter Doocy on December 13, 2023, PETER DOOCY: “First briefing since Hunter was indicted again in Los Angeles. Why doesn't President Biden just pardon him?” JEAN-PIERRE: “I've been very clear. The President's not going to pardon.” Here's reporter #4 on July 25, 2024. REPORTER #4: “You've also said several times the President would not pardon or commute the sentence for his son, Hunter. I just want to make sure that that is not going to change over the next six months. The President's saying he would not …” JEAN-PIERRE:  “It's still, it's still a no.  It's still a no." REPORTER #4: “It will always be a no.” JEAN-PIERRE: “It's still a no. It will be a no. It is a no. And I don't have anything else to add. Will he pardon his son? No.” And here's reporter #5 as late as November 7, 2024. REPORTER #5: “His son, Hunter, is also up for being sentenced next month. Does the President have any intention of pardoning him?” JEAN-PIERRE: “We've been asked that question multiple times. Our answer stands, which is no.” Biden himself insisted he would not pardon his son Hunter For over a year, President Joe Biden himself insisted that he would not pardon his son Hunter Biden. Listen to this June 6, 2024 exchange between ABC's David Muir and the president. MUIR: “As we sit here in Normandy, your son, Hunter, is on trial, and I know that you cannot speak about an ongoing federal prosecution, but let me ask you, will you accept the jury's outcome, their verdict, no matter what it is?" BIDEN: “Yes.” MUIR: “And have you ruled out a pardon for your son?” BIDEN: “Yes.” MUIR: “You have.” Then, at the June 13th, 2024 United States-Ukraine Bilateral Security Agreement, Biden was asked again whether he would pardon his son Hunter. Listen. REPORTER: “You're going through something that so many American families go through, the intersection of addiction and the criminal justice system, but you're not like most families. Was your son able to get a fair trial? Do you believe the Justice Department operated independently of politics?” BIDEN: “I'm extremely proud of my son, Hunter. He has overcome an addiction. He's one of the brightest, most decent man I know.  I am satisfied that I'm not going to do anything.  I said I'd abide by the jury decision. I will do that, and I will not pardon him.” Exodus 20:16 says, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” CEO Killer from Atlanta and wrote “deny,” “defend,” “depose” on bullets Two additional clues now about the masked gunman who stalked and killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on December 4th.  First, he traveled to New York City from Atlanta by bus days before Thanksgiving. And second, with permanent marker, he wrote the words “deny,” “defend,” and “depose” on the 9mm ammunition found at the crime scene, reports the Associated Press. Those words echo a phrase which is commonly used by lawyers and insurance industry critics to describe tactics used to avoid paying claims. Plus, it sounds a lot like the title of a book by Jay Feinman --  Delay, Deny, Defend: Why Insurance Companies Don't Pay Claims and What You can Do About It. The CEO Killer remains at large. Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth: I love Jesus Christ And finally, President-elect Donald Trump is standing by his decision to nominate Fox News personality Pete Hegseth to serve as secretary of defense amid concerns that an alleged drinking habit might impact his ability to do the job, reports The Christian Post. On Truth Social last Friday, Trump said Hegseth is “Princeton/Harvard educated - with a Military state of mind. He will be a fantastic, high energy, Secretary of Defense, one who leads with charisma and skill. Pete is a WINNER.” Appearing on Megyn Kelly's podcast, Hegseth talked about what Trump wants at the Department of Defense. HEGSETH: “If you wanted another general or another Admiral or an executive or a CEO or a politician or a lawyer to run the Defense Department, we've tried that before. [Trump] said, ‘I want a war fighter. I want lethality, lethality, lethality. I want readiness, accountability, standards, war fighting. Pete, that's you. That's me. Clean house of the woke crap, all that stuff, all the climate stuff, and the [Critical Race Theory] and the [Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion] and the genderism and the transgender: Get rid of it. Let's bring the Pentagon back to the people, the People's Pentagon for war fighters.'” Hegseth explained why the media is slamming his nomination. HEGSETH: “What you're seeing right now with me is the art of the smear. It is the classic art of the smear. Take whatever tiny kernels of truth, and there are tiny, tiny ones in there, and blow them up into a masquerade of a narrative about somebody that I am definitely not.” And Hegseth publicly declared that he and his wife love Jesus Christ. HEGSETH: “They're interested in smearing someone who supports Donald Trump's agenda. It's really clear. I'm in the middle of it, but I'm surrounded by a great team. I got a wonderful wife. We love this country. We love Jesus, Christ, our Savior. And we're going to fight.” After his conversion in 2018 following his marriage to his third wife, today he and his wife are members of Pilgrim Hill Reformed Fellowship. It's Tuesday, November 5th, Election Day, A.D. 2024, a critical moment in the history of this country. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Chinese Communists crack down on house churches Last month, one of the largest house churches in China, the Beijing Zion Church, was subjected to more raids. The church was banned by the government in 2018, but has continued to meet.  The most recent arrests included a church elder and 11 members. Also, 25 members of Taiyuan Xuncheng Reformed Church in Shanxi province were arrested, fined, and sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention. The members had refused to sign a statement that they would no longer participate in church activities.  North Korean soldiers face first combat in Russia's Kursk According to Newsweek, a Ukrainian senior official has reported the nation's armies firing upon North Korean soldiers in Kursk on the border of Russia. This was the first action involving North Korean troops in the Ukrainian war. North Korea launched Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Speaking of North Korea, it launched another Intercontinental Ballistic Missile last week — setting another record of 86 minutes in flight. This was the first missile test in a year. This time the missile hit a record altitude of 4,776 miles and a distance of 621 miles, according to the official KCNA news agency. The Intercontinental Ballistic Missile has a range of 8,100 miles, capable of reaching the United States. North Korea also touts the fourth largest army in the world, complete with 5,000 tons of chemical weapons.  The military has already conducted a 35-kiloton nuclear test, twice the power of the nuclear bomb which was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan in 1945.  Experts believe that North Korea is in possession of as many as 200 nuclear weapons. Rasmussen polling: Trump ahead of Kamala by 3% Here in the United States, one of the few conservative polling organizations, Rasmussen Reports, has Donald Trump ahead of Kamala Harris by 3% going into today's presidential election. Rasmussen also has Trump ahead in Pennsylvania by two percentage points. Plus, the former president leads in North Carolina by three points and Nevada by two. A billionaire election Today's election will be a billionaire election.   Kamala Harris has received backing from 83 billionaires and the Trump campaign counts 52 billionaires, reports The Independent. The role of political action committees Super PACs, which take in donations of $5 millions and higher, are far more involved in the presidential race this year, as well. The political action committees backing the Donald Trump campaign have given $522 million more than they did in the 2020 campaign — a 300% increase. And the super PACs backing Kamala Harris have raised 50% more than they did for the Democratic presidential ticket in 2020. Kamala raised $1 billion; Trump raised $400 million Speaking of presidential donors, Kamala Harris raised over one billion dollars for her campaign, and Kamala Harris and Joe Biden together have spent $1.9 billion in this election.   By contrast, Trump has spent $400 million. Republican Bob Dole spent $70 million on his campaign for president back in 1996. And George W. Bush spent $180 million in 2000.  Bloomberg reports a total of $15 billion has been spent in the 2024 elections, up from $14 billion in 2020, and up from $6 billion in 2012. Dramatic contrast in celebrity endorsements for Kamala vs. Trump America's entertainment cast of celebrities also showed up for this election, almost in unison, endorsing Kamala Harris in political advertisements and cameo appearances at rallies. These included Beyonce, Usher, Jennifer Lopez, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Taylor Swift, Ricky Martin, Eminem, James Taylor, Stevie Nicks, Willie Nelson, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Don Cheadle, Leonardo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Harrison Ford, George Clooney, Robert DeNiro, Jeff Bridges, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Garner, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Elba, Cher, Billie Eilish, Matt Damon, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Morgan Freeman, Jason Bateman, Dave Bautista, Jamie Lee Curtis, Alecia Keys, John Legend, Jon Bon Jovi, Stevie Wonder, Spike Lee, Ben Stiller, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Keaton, Bryan Cranston, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, J.J. Abrams, Whoopi Goldberg, Nick Offerman, and Samuel L. Jackson.  Those names were compiled by Breitbart and Forbes. This is the worldview of Hollywood and the pop music scene in America, supported by Christians who watch the movies and listen to the music. By contrast. the handful of celebrities who have stated support for Donald Trump in this election are Mel Gibson, Dennis Quaid, Jon Voight, and Rosanne Barr. Psalm 33:10-12 reminds us that “The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the Lord stands forever; He plans of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” J.D. Vance articulates his faith At an October 26th town hall meeting in Rock Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Pastor Joshua Robertson asked Trump's Vice Presidential pick, Senator J.D. Vance, about his faith. PASTOR ROBERTSON: “Political candidates aren't always clear about their faith. How do you define your faith and what do you believe?” VANCE: “I'm a devout, practicing, church-going Christian. I was actually baptized for the first time in 2019. So, that wasn't always true. “I was raised by my Mamaw because my mom struggled with opioid addiction for a big chunk of my life, and she was a woman of very profound Christian faith. She didn't graduate from high school, but she thought more about what the Bible required of her than any person that I've ever met in my life. “I served four years in the United States Marine Corps, and then, by around the time that I got out of the Marines and was starting college at Ohio State, I started to think that I knew more than Mamaw did. I started to think that to be educated, and to be knowledgeable in the ways of the world, meant that I had to discard the Christian faith that Mamaw had raised me in. “As I became a more mature young man, and you start thinking about the big questions: What do you want to be as a father? What do you want to be as a husband? What is required of me to be a good man? And I kept coming back to the answers were found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So, that led me back to my faith. “If you work hard and play by the rules, whether you agree with my religious faith or not, you ought to be able to provide for a family, you ought to be able to give your kids a good education, and you ought to be able to build a life in this country that all of us love. That to me is the politics of the common good, and it's very much influenced by my Christian faith.” How a woman's suicide attempt leads to her courtship and marriage And finally, here's an inspiring story of a British nurse who was about to commit suicide on a summer afternoon in 2019.   Charlotte was standing on train tracks, waiting for the end.  But little did she know that the engineer, Dave Lay, had other plans. He stopped the train short, descended from his cab, knelt down beside the woman, and struck up a conversation. He said, “Hi! My name is Dave. Are you having a bad day?” He got her some help, but later Charlotte looked him up to say thank you.  They spent a few months meeting in coffee shops, and just getting to know each other. Today, they're happily married with a couple of children, reports BBC News. But even more important is this lesson from Proverbs 11:30. “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Election Day, Tuesday, November 5th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. The United States has for the first time said it has seen evidence that North Korea has sent 3,000 troops to Russia for possible deployment in Ukraine, a move that could mark a significant escalation in Russia's war against its neighbour. In the latest of developments, South Korea has summoned the Russian ambassador in Seoul, to criticise Pyongyang's decision to send thousands of soldiers to support Moscow's war in Ukraine. This comes just a week after we heard reports of North Korea blowing up sections of the deeply symbolic roads connecting it to the South, with Pyongyang's military vowing to permanently seal its southern border. Abstract: The Kv1 members (KCNA, Shaker) of the voltage-gated potassium channels are implicated in determining key functional neuronal properties from spike generation at axonal initial segments to the control of synaptic strength at nerve terminals. In animal models of LGI1-dependent autosomal dominant lateral temporal lobe epilepsy (ADTLE), Kv1 channels are downregulated, suggesting their crucial involvement in epileptogenesis. The molecular basis of Kv1 channel-downregulation in LGI1 knock-out mice has not been elucidated and how the absence of this extracellular protein induces an important modification in the expression of Kv1 remains unknown. In this study we analyse by immunofluorescence the detailed modifications in neuronal Kv1.1 and Kv1.2 distribution throughout the hippocampal formation of LGI1 knock-out mice. We show that Kv1 downregulation is not restricted to the axonal compartment, but also takes place in the somatodendritic region and is accompanied by a drastic decrease in Kv2 expression levels. Moreover, we find that the downregulation of these Kv channels is associated with an important increase in bursting patterns. Finally, mass spectrometry uncovered key important modifications in the Kv1 interactome that highlight the epileptogenic implication of Kv1 downregulation in LGI1 knock-out animals. The pass that is likely to be launched in July and is aimed at encouraging the use of public transport, which the government says was negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic due to a decline in passenger volume. According to acting Cabinet spokesman Lo Ping-cheng, families in Taiwan spend about 12-per cent of their household income on public commutes, so the monthly pass will help alleviate some of that burden (負擔). The New Taipei District Court says he was sued for reselling 3,525 cellphones he had obtained under Chunghwa's preferential contracts. The man, surnamed Lin, began running the scam in 2016, after he set up a one-man company that purportedly was conducting research into the wireless charging of iPhones, according to a court ruling issued on Feb. 13-th. With the subscription contracts, Lin obtained (獲得) 3,525 cellphones, including iPhone and Samsung Galaxy models, which he paid little or nothing for. He then resold the mobile phones to vendors and wholesale businesses at low prices, according to the ruling. In the civil case, the court ordered Lin to pay damages of $17.64 million NT, which would accrue an annual interest rate of 5 percent if it is not paid in full. The case is subject to appeal. **Lantern Fest Sees Over a Million Visitors on Closing Day ** The Taiwan Lantern Festival saw over a million visitors on closing day yesterday. Officials say the festivities brought an increase in business of 10-to-30 percent for many of the districts involved. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said it detected (發現,察覺) the two missile launches from a western coastal town, just north of Pyongyang, this morning. It said South Korea has boosted its surveillance posture and maintains a readiness in close coordination with the United States. Japan's Defense Ministry said both missiles landed in the waters between the Korean Peninsula and Japan. It said Japan condemned the launches as a threat to the peace and safety of Japan and the international society. Also this morning, North Korea's long-range artillery units on its western coast fired two rounds cross-country toward the eastern waters in response to what its state media called the U.S.-South Korean aerial drills on Sunday, according to the North's official Korean Central News Agency. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/aziz-mustaphi/message

Sanctions continue to be the main sticking point seemingly preventing greater diplomatic progress from occurring between the U.S. and North Korea. Key to any economic development in North Korea, or anywhere else, is the electricity that supports expanding commercial and industrial activity. But the North has a dilapidated, balkanized electric grid made up of a hodgepodge of Cold War-era and repurposed parts running different currents of electricity. Quite simply, the country cannot power the economic growth Kim Jong Un says he wants with the current power system in place. Peter Hayes has researched the issue of energy security in North Korea for decades, and sits down with the podcast to talk about electricity, environmentalism, and what it takes to gain mutual trust from North Korean decision-makers. The U.S.'s presence on and approach to the Korean peninsula is based on a conventional understanding of its role in the world, in Asia, and the ways in which the country achieves its foreign policy goals. Doug Bandow has for years fought against the mainstream “blob” in D.C., arguing that America's activities and alliance commitments – as currently exercised in the world – do not reflect the realities of geopolitics and national security goals in 2019. In this week's episode, we ask Bandow what Washington can do to engage North Korea, evaluate the current administration's top-down diplomatic efforts, look into parallels between the DPRK and Iran, and learn why he believes it's time for a phased reduction in U.S. military presence on the peninsula. Solving the North Korean nuclear issue is not a South Korean problem or an American one, but rather a global conundrum that will require the weight of the world's international institutions to resolve. The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) is one such institution. NK News managing editor Oliver Hotham was fortunate enough to recently sit down with CTBTO head Dr. Lassina Zerbo to discuss the CTBTO's role on the Korean peninsula, the "definition" of denuclearization, and how the treaty can help narrow the chasm between Washington and Pyongyang. Dr. Lassina Zerbo is the Executive Secretary of the CTBT Organization. During a professional career spanning nearly 25 years, Dr. Zerbo has developed expertise ranging from scientific and technical competencies to results-based management and multilateral diplomacy. North Korea watchers were rudely awoken Saturday morning by news that the DPRK had launched a series of so-called "projectiles" off its east coast. And as state media footage emerged the following morning, it became clear that one of the weapons tested by North Korea was a new-type short-range ballistic missile -- representing the first such test of its kind by Pyongyang since November 2017. Hoping to make sense of these developments and more, host Jacco Zwetsloot was joined by NK News CEO Chad O'Carroll, managing editor Oliver Hotham, and senior analyst Minyoung Lee to discuss missiles, state media, and the mysteries of the North Korean economy. E é passo a passo. Não é um processo rápido. Eu nunca disse que seria. É passo a passo", disse Trump. "North Korea claimed it detonated a hydrogen bomb in a test Wednesday, a move that was condemned by the U.S., Britain, Japan and even China. It was the politically isolated country's first nuclear weapons test explosion in three years. Experts said the claim that the test involved a hydrogen bomb, which is more powerful than an atomic bomb, could not be confirmed. The White House said that initial analysis of the test was not consistent with a successful hydrogen bomb. The report on the state KCNA website came within hours of reports from various agencies that a large earthquake had been detected near a known North Korean nuclear test site. According to KCNA, North Korea tested a miniaturized hydrogen nuclear bomb "in the most perfect manner," putting it in possession of hydrogen bomb capability, which it described as "the most powerful nuclear deterrent." North Korea wanted what it called "the H-bomb of justice" as protection from the "ever-growing nuclear threat and blackmail by the U.S.-led hostile forces," according to KCNA. It would use the weapons only if its sovereignty were encroached upon, the statement on KCNA said, but would not roll back its nuclear development until the U.S. had dropped its "vicious, hostile" policy toward the isolated Communist state. "The U.S. is a gang of cruel robbers which has worked hard to bring even a nuclear disaster to the DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korean], not content with having imposed the thrice-cursed and unheard-of political isolation, economic blockade and military pressure on it for the mere reason that it has differing ideology and social system," according to the statement. "The present-day grim reality clearly proves once again the immutable truth that one's destiny should be defended by one's own efforts," the statement went on. "Nothing is more foolish than dropping a hunting gun before herds of ferocious wolves." Dan Perkins, is a foreign policy contributor to DailySurge.com and TheHill.com.
