Hoy escuchamos: How Do You Sleep (John Lennon), Maybe I'm Amazed (Paul McCartney), It Don't Come Easy (Ringo Starr), All Things Must Pass (George Harrison).Escuchar audio

Turbulente Produktionsbedingungen "Band on the Run" wurde in Afrika, in Nigeria, genau genommen in Lagos produziert. Alle Tapes und Ideen, die Paul bisher in irgendeiner Form für "Band on the Run" gesammelt hatte, waren also weg. McCartney antwortet seinerseits in "Band on the Run" mit dem Song "Let Me Roll It". "Let Me Roll It" ist ursprünglich eine Textzeile aus einem George Harrison-Song "I'd Have You Anytime" aus dem Album "All Things Must Pass" von 1970. John Lennon bezeichnete seinerseits das Album "Band on the Run" sogar als fantastisches Werk. __________ Über diese Songs vom Album "Band on the Run" wird im Podcast gesprochen (15:50) – "Bluebird"(25:24) – "Jet"(29:49) – "Band on the Run"(48:33) – "Let Me Roll It"(52:27) – "Picasso's Last Words (Drink to Me)"__________ Über diese Songs wird außerdem im Podcast gesprochen (47:31) – "Too Many People" von Paul McCartney und Lina McCartney(49:14) – "I'd Have You Anytime" von George Harrison __________ Paul Mc Cartney & Wings Rockshow Live: https://youtu.be/BiCboZoKOcw?si=xPYLZJiAC3KyKQyh Rolling Stone: Paul McCartney & Wings veröffentlichen "Band on the Run": https://www.rollingstone.de/rewind-today-1973-paul-mccartney-wings-veroeffentlichen-band-on-the-run-362018/ Musik-Sammler Release: "Band on the Run": https://www.musik-sammler.de/release/paul-mccartney-wings-band-on-the-run-2-cd-358897/ YouTube Paul McCartney "Band on the Run": https://youtu.be/LulVVED_93c?si=ZU0uORCdXgIEfFq8 John Lennon singt das Album "Band on the Run": https://youtu.be/FPkC54xEEnU?si=JEzTPGiD4fno63oa Paul McCartney & Wings "Band on the Run" BBC-Doku: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9dEqN-dQtY __________ Ihr wollt mehr Podcasts wie diesen? In this episode, Host Diana Erickson and regular contributor Dr. Duncan Driver dig into Paul McCartney's commentary on the song, Dear Friend, from the book, The Lyrics. This episode considers the musical conversation between Lennon and McCartney at this time, in 1971, so God, How Do You Sleep, and Jealous Guy are all explored. Dear Friend is not only a beautiful song but an important one in the conversation between Lennon and McCartney in 1971—a time when their relationship was strained and spiraling. Diana and Duncan consider the context in which the song was created and what the song communicates. Escucharemos Imagine, Crippled Inside, Jealous Guy, It’s So Hard, I Don’t Want to Be a Soldier, Mama, I Don’t Want to Die, Gimme Some Truth, Oh My Love, How Do You Sleep?, How? y Oh Yoko! + Bonus track. This week The Paranoid Style Podcast is back with Part 2 of The Beatles - Paul Is Dead! We keep scouring The Beatles' discography for the clues that will break this case wide open. From India to Abbey Road. From the black mass rites of Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, to the shade thrown on How Do You Sleep? From the Manson's Family's Helter-Skelter to the walrus, who we're pretty sure wasn't Paul. Oh! And did we mention that this time playing the songs forward is not enough? G-N-I-K-S-A-M-K-C-A-B! Warning: After bad-mouthing other people's Liverpudlian accent, we produce quite possibly the worst of all time. Jack reviews GET BACK (Peter Jackson, 2019) - this year's 7.5hr Disney+ docuseries about the making of the Beatles' Let It Be album in 1969 - with help from youtuber, artist, and fellow Beatles fan Lilly AKA mothcub, who you can find on Twitter @mothcub_ and on YouTube simply as mothcub. We end up talking a lot about solo Ringo Starr. This episode also features covers by Jack - who produced it - of The Ballad of John & Yoko (Lennon/McCartney), How Do You Sleep? (Lennon) and Let It Be (McCartney/Lennon.)
Comedian and podcaster Adam Buxton joins us to share his Personal Beatles. In this suitably rambling chat, Jack and Robin talk to Adam about everything from the Stars on 45 Beatles medley, the 2000 TV movie Two of US, recording his version of How Do You Sleep, and of course, interviewing Sir Paul on his podcast. You can also hear some unheard audio from Adam and Joe's Vinyl Justice sketch with Ray Manzarek, in which The Doors keyboard player talks to Adam about Rubber Soul. And if that wasn't enough, we also offer our (spoiler free) thought's on Peter Jackson's Get Back! The Beatles: Get Back is available to stream on Disney+ now. Presented as forerunner of the inevitable show revisiting John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band to come later this year as part of the 50th anniversary, returning guest Chip Madinger (Eight Arms To Hold You, Lennonology) and I discuss some of the assorted odds and sods produced (or proposed) by John Lennon under the Plastic Ono Band brand circa 1969/1970. The POB debut year gave us the singles "Give Peace A Chance" and "Cold Turkey," but what about the other announced releases? ("Laughing"/"Whispers"; "You Know My Name"/"What's The New Mary Jane," and the mysterious instrumental, "Rock Peace"). Chip knows the work and chronology better than anyone when it comes to the solo Beatles and John Lennon in particular. He presents some astonishing information about what was originally planned for 1970 (and about the original form of "How Do You Sleep"). This one's a treasure trove for Lennononistas... This week, the great Paul McCartney looks back at some of his biggest post-Beatles hits in this 1978 interview. He also reflects on the breakup of the Beatles and talks about dealing with John Lennon’s pointed song “How Do You Sleep?”. Paul also talks about getting shafted by Warren Beatty (funny story) and how The Beatles originally had a banjo player (funnier story)! Also, Tom has a brand new interview with Canadian singer/songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk. Chantal looks back on her career and talks about working with other artists, including Drake, Kelly Clarkson and others! Some were great experiences… others… not so much. Plus Chantal talks about her documentary “I Will Break Your Heart” (now available on Crave TV), which takes a close look at her marriage to Raine Maida. It’s a funny, deeply personal and gossipy chat!

She Fought For What Essay 14 September 2019 Back in college I was in a band called Forgotten Sons. As college bands do if you ain't REM (old as fuck reference #1) the band broke up and I was embittered. Being a John Lennon acolyte I wrote a "fuck you" song to Joel Baily, who left the band, in the spirit of "How Do You Sleep?" and a gazillion rap beefs that were on the horizon. Of course this isn't that song. But on the album that I wrote and recorded between Forgotten Sons and Doom Cookie, which I dubbed A BRIDE A DAY in honor of my buddy Paul Deboy who wrote a song called "Sporadic Sunjam" the chorus to which was "a brighter day" which I misheard as "a bride a day," I did write a song called "We Fought For What." Look, I repurposed much of that record for this record. But back to the original song it was kind of a primer on American wars and how I sided with the losers. The first line is "In the Civil War I would have been a rebel." I took solace in my racist stance by aligning myself with Chuck D who sang in "Prophets Of Rage" off of IT TAKES A NATION OF MILLIONS TO HOLD US BACK "I'm a rebel so I rebel." The lie of the American Civil War is that the Confederacy was racist and the Union was not. That's as bullshit as it gets. You merely had apartheid in the north whereas in the south you had full blown fucking slavery. Race is still the greatest unspoken conversation of our republic. A little history lesson may be helpful and I never hear anybody making this point these days. Let's just use Iran aka them death-to-america-motherfuckers as a jumping off point. Iran is Persia. They have a loooooooong history. They had plumbing, cities, art, education, and medicine when the anglo-saxons and the nordic folk were wrapping themselves up in animal skins and beating each other with sticks. The ascendance of white folk is an anthropological blip. Here's another example - motherfucking Afghanistan. They used to be the Khwarazm Empire until they made the mistake of insulting the Great Khan - but even before that. This is the region subjugated by Persia, Rome, the Byzantines, and the Ottomans. You think US troops standing around for 20 years makes a difference to these people? This all ties into SPACESHIPS GUNS AND BOOBIES. Everything ties into everything. A bit less intellectually challenging, however, is how the original song was reworded so as to act as the bridge piece between TRAVELOGUE and THE SAGA OF REMOTE CONTROL. Charlene is Remote Control. That's the main point to take away from this song. I ain't quite figured out how it happens. I think maybe she's like the next evolutionary spurt and is exceptionally long lived or maybe even immortal like Jack Harkness/The Face Of Boe. Maybe she gets gifted immortality from the El Camino TARDIS. Musically ol' Ochster really does well here, underplaying much to the benefit of the song. Many times while dubbing Andy has already recorded his percussion tracks and I use his accents for my extra parts. It's fun. While Brian and I were doing the vocals we didn't have the jack to plug the microphone into my guitar rig so I attempted full blown Yoko mannerisms. Obviously I've learned lo these past few decades that Yoko's vocal stylings are rooted deeply in international musical expression. That she was laughed at in the late 60s and early 70s is another example of the backwater nature of northern europe through-out most of human history. Growing up isolated and behind the rest of the world, anglos and nordics were never exposed to the grand awesomeness of the silk road. The close minded and short sighted dumbassery is now currently on display with the leadership in both Great Britain and the USA. Shit,we didn't even get a full century ruling the world and now we'r beat a hasty retreat from our global leadership role. Whatever, right? It's only international human rights and giving a shit about food and water. But there you go, folks. Ideally Brian and I would be doing our weekly breakdown over the course of an hour but things are too hectic right now. That's fine. One needs to constantly adapt in order to survive and then prosper. By the way I love you all.

In Part 2 of our deep dive into "How Do You Sleep?", we attempt to dissect George's role in the creation of the song, his perspective on Lennon-McCartney as a unit, and the impact his participation may have had on George's relationships with both John and Paul.
HOW DO YOU SLEEP, MOLLY SNORES, CELEB NEWS
John Lennon was not about to back down from a challenge. With his former songwriting partner achieving commercial success with the runaway US single Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey from the UK #1 RAM album, John’s solo work took a turn toward the charts. The Imagine LP was in many ways the culmination of everything John’s music had been over the years - equal parts catchy, light, heavy, political, hard-rocking, tender and introspective - missing only the kinds of radical experimentation that had alienated the general public in the past. From the downright bubbly Oh Yoko, to the haunting ballad Jealous Guy (a re-worked “Child of Nature” which had been kicking around since Rishikesh), to the iconic title track, Imagine was a home run for both critics and fans alike. John’s spite and anger toward Paul was on full display in the vicious How Do You Sleep, which Lennon explained to confused Beatle fans as a retort to Paul for messages directed toward him on RAM. The partnership was no more, but in its place a heightened sense of competition would drive both Lennon and McCartney to interesting new heights in the decade to come. But perhaps the biggest change for John Lennon as Summer turned to Fall in 1971 was his permanent relocation to New York City, where he (unbeknownst to him at the time) would call home for the rest of his life, and never again return to his native England... While the rift between Paul McCartney and his former bandmates grew wider by the day, the bond between John, George and Ringo seemed to only strengthen in the summer of 1971 against their common enemy. The RAM album was slow to gain momentum, though eventually found its footing at #1 on the UK charts, and “Beatle Ed” (as the other ex-Beatles privately dubbed him) had recently won the first round of litigation in his bid to free himself from the Beatles contract. The anger was palpable and tensions at their peak when Lennon was pushed over the edge by several antagonistic messages left for him within the RAM album itself by Paul. John was quick to pen a rebuttal in the form of the stinging How Do You Sleep, who enlisted George to play a brutal slide solo and lend his support to John against Paul. This track and several others were in development for Lennon’s new solo LP, a more commercial-sounding follow-up to the acclaimed but depressing Plastic Ono Band LP from the year prior. Ringo Starr, who was still basking in the glow of the #1 single It Don’t Come Easy, stay above the fray as best he could and spent his summer portraying a bloodthirsty bandit in a new spaghetti western movie titled Blind Man. While George, himself still riding high from his uber-successful solo releases, was busy participating in records from Badfinger and pal Ravi Shankar. While recording Ravi’s album, the sitar master expressed deep sadness toward the Bangladeshi refugee crisis which would set the gears into motion for George to hatch a plan to help... For episode #94 we're going to spend an evening in the studio with John Lennon, George Harrison, pianist Nicky Hopkins, bassist Klaus Voorman and drummer Alan White as they perfect Lennon's scathing song "How Do You Sleep" from his second solo album Imagine.
How Do You Sleep at Night? is a great podcast from the team at ABC about people who live their lives in the face of judgement. The show explores the different moral codes we all live by. Because no one thinks they’re a bad person, right?
