Walt Disney—A Magical Life opened at Disneyland on July 17, 2025 (the 70th anniversary of Disneyland) in the Main Street Opera House (to be rotated with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln). With Walt Disney One Man's Dream as the opening sequence, this new attraction features the first-ever Audio-Animatronic figure to depict Walt Disney. On July 15, I had the honor of attending a special media preview of this brand new show with the opportunity to view the show twice plus hear from the Imagineers (Tom Fitzgerald and Jeff Shaver-Moskowitz) and Walt Disney Family Museum representatives (Kristen Komoroske) who worked on this new experience. In this episode, I'm joined by Jack Kendall from DSNY Newscast to discuss this new attraction, including plenty of honest and detailed analysis about the new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic and some discussion about the lobby experience (led by Imagineer Kim Irvine) and film sequence. Thank you to Disneyland for this very special opportunity and for inviting me to attend this media event. Get bonus content, ad-free episodes, and more at patreon.com/imaginationskyway. Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesMarvel Studios may be sitting out of this weekend's storied San Diego Comic Hall H, but that hasn't stopped the big news and updates from pouring in. First, last week in a huge move, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige invited a small group of journalists to Marvel Studios' offices where he laid out the future for the next 5 to 7 years for the MCU. The biggest takeaway, arguably, was Feige's cagey hints regarding a likely reset to the universe during the events of Secret Wars, saying, “Reboot is a scary word; Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline — we're thinking along those lines.” Other tidbits from Feige's comments include a commitment to recasting the X-Men with new actors for their post Secret Wars film, an update on the Mahershala Ali-led Blade film and Sony's mandate that they stay away from a live action Miles Morales until the conclusion of the animated Spider-Verse trilogy. In Marvel news that looks to the more immediate future, director Matt Shakman shared that John Malkovich's role and performance as the Red Ghost has been removed from The Fantastic Four: The First Steps, which opens this week!Superman continues to live up to its name when it comes to its performance, as the superhero flick passed $409 million at the global box office in its second weekend of release. The $58 million second weekend, which is a respectable -54% drop from the opening weekend, is in keeping with 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine and bodes favorably compared to other recent releases from the comic book genre; plus coupled with other wins like A Minecraft Movie and Sinners, the latest success has helped Warner Bros become 2025's top earning studio with $1.32 billion in ticket sales. In other news, Variety confirmed Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira has been tapped to pen the Wonder Woman reboot for the DCU in addition to being attached to a live action Teen Titans project for the studio.Lots and lots of trailers hit the interwebs last week, lets run them down and talk about ‘em:Alien: EarthPredator: BadlandsTron: AresStranger Things S5Mortal Kombat IIChristopher Nolan made history by putting tickets on sale for The Odyssey exactly one year before the film's release, marking the first time any movie tickets have sold a full year in advance. The early sales were exclusively for IMAX 70mm screenings at select theaters, supporting Nolan's epic adaptation of the Greek myth that is being shot entirely on IMAX film cameras with a $250 million budget.Hulu announced that Futurama Season 13 will switch from its recent weekly release format to an all-at-once binge drop, with all 10 episodes premiering simultaneously on September 15 at 5 p.m. PT. The change marks a departure from the weekly rollout used for Seasons 11 and 12.Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to star in Robert Eggers' upcoming werewolf horror film Werwulf, with Lily-Rose Depp in talks to join the project in what would reunite the Nosferatu co-stars. Nintendo and Sony's live-action Legend of Zelda movie has cast Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link, with Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto revealing the casting choices alongside first-look photos on social media. Taika Waititi is attached to direct a new feature film take on British comic book character Judge Dredd. Drew Pearce, the scribe known for Fall Guy and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, is attached to write the script.Disney's live action Lilo and Stitch has become the first film of 2025 to pass the $1 billion dollar mark at the international box office.Nearly five years after Netflix entered into a content agreement with Ubisoft, the streamer has ordered an Assassin's Creed live-action series, based on the best-selling video game franchise. The project will be created, showrun, and executive produced by Roberto Patino and David Wiener.
In this episode, John shares how one book—Unreasonable Hospitality—reshaped how he and the team think about service. From handwritten notes to surprise welcome boxes and even personally delivered cookies, it's all about making people feel seen. He dives into why a little extra effort in human connection still matters, even in a world racing toward automation. You'll also hear how companies like Disney create “magic moments” to outweigh the “tragic” ones—and how you can apply the same mindset to your own work and life. 00:15 The Book Study: Unreasonable Hospitality 00:37 Personal Experience with Poor Service 02:32 The Future of the Service Industry 03:13 Balancing Technology and Personal Touch 04:14 The Value of Strategic Planning 05:41 Creating Memorable Client Experiences 06:38 Examples of Exceptional Hospitality 08:00 Empowering Employees to Create Magic Moments 11:43 The Importance of Human Interaction

Come along as we meet Roger, a foster child living in a temporary home with his BFF J.P, who's also a foster child and it's SAD, GUYS. All this and more in this emotionally charged Disney film! We were there to film for Discovery Channel—me, a $100,000 camera, and a crew who knew how to sweat (and panic). We'd prepped for weeks, months even. Everything was perfect until a whisper came through the jungle vines: “Insurgents are coming. They know you have money.” Awesome. Just what I needed—guerilla drama on top of documentary stress. I told the team we had to bail. But first, I had to make up a lie that our camera broke—because telling a warrior tribe mid-costume that the government might be after us just didn't feel like the right move. What followed? Screaming. Spears. A blunderbuss aimed at my head. And me pleading forgiveness like a Catholic schoolboy who just broke the principal's window. I grabbed the tribal leader's hand, bowed my head, and whispered, “Are you Christian?” “Yes,” he said, confused. “Then… forgiveness?” And just like that, I got my own Disney ending. They let us go—with only mild humiliation, a few fake wooden heads, and one hell of a story." - Jonathan Derksen Principle: Here's what that jungle taught me: Real stories—the ones that shake you, stir you, and stick with you—don't come from comfort. They come from courage. From risking something to show something worth seeing. And sometimes, telling the truth isn't the bravest thing. It's telling the story anyway, no matter how messy the behind-the-scenes gets. Transition: Most people think storytelling is about having the right camera, the right lighting, the right moment. But the truth is, what holds us back isn't gear—it's fear. Fear of getting it wrong. Fear of offending. Fear of not being enough to tell the tale. And yet, the world needs more honest stories, not perfect ones. That's why: That's why this podcast episode with Jonathan Derksen exists. It's not polished. It's powerful. It's not filtered—it's fearless. From war-zone photojournalism to jungles laced with mercury and memories, we uncover what it really means to document a world in crisis—and do it with heart. Call to Action: If you've ever felt like your story doesn't matter, or that your voice isn't “qualified” enough—this episode is your proof that it does and it is. Stop letting self-doubt keep your story buried. Hit play, get inspired, and tell it anyway.
