From starting over financially after an unexpected divorce while pregnant to rebuilding my savings and ultimately creating six figures one one year and then in one launch, I've dug myself through the trenches to create my current my sense of safety with money: investing, creating it and holding it.My personal journey with money started with relentlessly saving the $5 chore money I got from looking after my baby sister. Because I grew up in a household that was struggling to pay the bills, anything but saving felt like a threat. And that feeling lasted well into adulthood. It's still something I grapple with today. So when I went from my "dream" life in London to moving back home and living on food stamps while pregnant, it felt like my worst fear had come true. I do what I do because I want women of color to escape this cycle by creating more money, because of who they are. But it's impossible to create more money without feeling safe in our ability to let it go and have it return to us.So I'm giving you the concrete steps I take when I feel like I'm falling into scarcity. As a single mom, scaling my business has often been an uncomfortable, scary experience. If you're feeling that, you're not alone. Tune in to hear how I process these feelings in a concrete way! Good morning, everyone. Today I want to talk to you about being curious and resilient. We all have our own struggles and it's important to remember that we can always find ways to come out of them stronger. One great example of this is our next guest; Julianne Bosch, a mom CEO, life and career coach, and author who has moved her family 13 times across four continents. She wrote a book called How a Mother Took Her First Step on the Moon, a mother's keepsake journal of advice to my children. When Julianne was turning 50, she was dreading it. Her cousin was diagnosed with a 1% survival rate of anaplastic thyroid cancer and it made Julianne realize that if she was no longer here, how would she give gifts to people instead of receiving gifts for her 50th birthday. This inspired her to write the book and on her 50th birthday, she sent it to her three children as a gift. Julianne wrote in the book to not give advice, but to tell her children what she did and not say, "do this, this is the rule book." She wanted them to take what they needed and adapt it to what they wanted and then use it. She also asked them powerful questions like, what is your integrity? This is so important in today's chaotic world with war and pandemic and shootings happening. We need to keep that curiosity and learning going. Julianne also learned from her children. They told her that their story of a situation was different than what she wrote in the book and she told them to rewrite it and to tell her what they thought so that they could have a conversation. Julianne's children have a resilience that she didn't have in her 20s. They have the three E's: educated, employed, and elsewhere. Their elsewheres humble her and show her that they are doing things in their 20s that she didn't do. It's important to be curious and resilient in life. We can learn from others and we can also learn from our own children. Julianne's story is a great example of this and I hope it has inspired you to be curious and resilient in life. Change judgmental phrases to "That's interesting!" It takes the steam out of the negative thought and allows you to stay positive mentally. That's one of the many things I learned as Julianne Bosch and I discussed everything under the sun about international travel, family life while an expat, and how to be a CEO and a mom/wife at the same time.Julianne is a "Mom CEO" and a life and career coach, author of "How a Mother Took Her First Steps on the Moon". Juggling between family and work is hard for men, even harder for women. One of the main ways you can find fulfillment as you are attempting to have both is to narrow down your life. Don't try to do it all. Make choices and stick to what you plan.Joy is found in purpose. Find your purpose.Recognize where you are today. You're not alone in overthinking, overdoing, and overstressing. Breathe and just take stock of where you are today.Life is complicatedly simple. Think of it--life, family, work--as an elephant you have to eat. Just do it in small bites, one bite at a time. When stressed and overwhelmed, go back to the basics. Have a set of non-negotiables in life and strip it down to the basics so that you have a place to fall back to when you've taken on too much.Brainstorm crazy ideas. Use them to break "my way or the highway" madness. Figure out worst case scenarios. etc. Finally, when you set your intention based on your non-negotiables, things start clicking.Julianne's book mirrored her life and practice. It's a book of advice for parents and others about taking ownership and living a life of intention. You can find her at https://juliannebosch.com; or https://mothersfirststep.comFor those of you that are looking for a coach or consultant for your career, business, or life - I offer a free initial consult to see if we'd be a good fit. Moms are the CEO of Home Inc. Now, I want to be clear…I'm not saying this to be cute or cheeky. I certainly do not want to in any way come across as belittling stay-at-home moms. In fact, I believe that being a stay-at-home mom is a full-time (or more than full-time) job for which we are not paid. Although I am sure we as mothers could all agree that raising a family is important work, we sometimes tend to discount the work in our minds because it's not quote/unquote “professional.” In this episode we explore the traits that both successful CEOs and moms share. I am willing to bet that many of these 10 traits, you practice regularly as a mom. We don't consider that these skills make us professionals….by the way, synonyms for “professional” include – expert, skilled, practiced, qualified, proficient….add to this mix loving, unconditional, loyal, dedicated, and unwavering…that's a pretty powerful combination.

I was listening to a business podcast this week, and a successful Mom/CEO said this quote when asked how she overcomes "Mom Guilt" as she runs a multi-million dollar business, while juggling being a mom. She said "Kids don't count the hours that you're with them, but they do notice if you're present." And the truth of that quote jumped out at me, and made me take notice. I immediately related it to the Play Therapy principles, called the "Be With Attitudes," that I teach in my private parent coaching course. So I wanted to share with you some practical tips, that you can put into practice immediately, that will help you become fully present with your kids during the time you spend with them. You no longer have to feel any guilt as a mom, parent, or caregiver because your child will get intentional, quality, meaningful time with you.

We discuss leveling the playing field for women in leadership and tying diversity to business goals.
I know this episode title is a mouthful - to be honest I used to cringe when somebody used to say "the patriarchy" to me. But the truth is, the way we think is highly influenced by the society we grow up in. Does this mean we have to "burn down the patriarchy?" - NO. But it does mean that we want to be aware of what we think and understand why we think it - YES. What matters here is understanding those thoughts that come unbidden, they don't come because there is something wrong with you, they come because that is what you have been socialized to think.Want help breaking down your thoughts and how they might be stopping you from living the life you actually WANT? *Encore presentation from May of 2019* The conversation about the game of money is this week’s topic of the Date Your Wife podcast, a topic which proves to be a spicy one for married co-hosts Garrett J and Danielle K White. Every week married couple Danielle and Garrett J White share insights and perspectives from within their own lives regarding the following topics discussed each month: Week 1: Sex Week 2: Money Week 3: Parenting Week 4: Communication In This Week’s Podcast…MONEY Point #1: Saving & Investing As Danielle steps back and looks at their amazing businesses and lifestyle, she is curious if there is a way to start putting more money into other areas, like savings, in addition to life insurance. She wonders if she is ignoring signs from their past mistakes, knowing that their current lifestyle is more abundant than ever before. Garrett: My wife has pushed for our life to rise over and over again. At this point, we save more money than we’ve ever saved in our whole lives. I’ve also gone from only investing in the business to investing in the family. QUESTION How are you doing in the area of savings? How long would you be able to sustain your lifestyle if the money stopped coming in tomorrow? Point #2: Obsession The challenge inside of marriage when it comes to the topic of money is this: making money, growing money, keeping money, and leveraging money. Seventeen years ago, after reading the book, ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad,’ Garrett realized for the first time that he could make money and became obsessed with it. He went back and forth between the hustle mode of making money and the phase of growing money as he built teams and processes, which led him to the game of keeping money. Over the past several years, he has invested and put strategies into place, which have benefited them in massive ways inside of their bank accounts and savings vaults. QUESTION Where are you as a couple when it comes to making & keeping money? Point #3: Building a Legacy Danielle: We live an amazing lifestyle. I’m at the point where I want to be able to build a legacy, an empire. If we stopped working ten years from now, I want to know that we could still live our amazing lifestyle for years to come plus help our children if we needed to. My parents live well, but they can’t stop working. My dad is 69 and is still building custom homes because they have to continue working to maintain their lifestyle. I look at our parents and don’t want to live like either of them. QUESTION What do you ultimately desire? Point #4: A Team Effort Danielle: Ladies, money is a tough conversation. Whether you’re a woman who can take care of herself, or you’re the Mom CEO of the family, it’s nice to have a guy that takes care of you. I also want to be a part of this team effort and part of the decisions. I don’t want to sit on the sidelines and be naive about what’s going on. QUESTION How do you handle money decisions in your relationship? Point #5: Maintain or Increase? Garrett to Danielle: Would you be willing to maintain our current lifestyle even though our businesses are increasing in revenue? We would maintain our current game, and everything else would go pure cash with no expense increase whatsoever in our personal lifestyle over the next five years. We would not change homes or cars, and we would keep the same game. We would put all the money away that you want to put away without having to up the standard, meaning… two bags, not nine. QUESTION What are you willing to do in order to be able to put money away? Communication Challenge: Have some conversations with your spouse about the game of money: making, growing, keeping, and leveraging money. Date Night Topic: If the money were to suddenly stop coming in, how long would you be able to live your current lifestyle without changing anything? Quote of the Week: “This podcast isn’t about having all the answers for you but rather a conversation where we’re in a place of figuring shit out as we go.” —Garrett J White “When I’m seventy years old, I want us to be working because we’re passionate about it, and we are choosing to – we have a purpose behind it – not to just pay the fucking bills.” —Danielle K White

Not only is she a single mom of two, author, and founder and CEO of a start up, Splendid Spoon she is beautiful, present, articulate, and so engaging whenever I speak with her. We met a few months ago when we were speaking at Wanderlust and her peaceful energy made me immediately want to know more about her and be her friend. She has this calm energy even though she's doing so much somehow making it seem easy. We connected in so many ways, from our philosophy with food and body image, to our love for journaling, to practicing mindfulness and so much more. I loved the way this conversation meandered in so many directions as usual. We covered being a single mom, navigating a divorce, entrepreneurship, single tasking, feeling our feelings, living from your heart vs. head, food as medicine, career transitions, mindful eating, motherhood (and how 'you birth your own healer'), New York City, style tips (I love her style) and way more. I loved this episode. Let us know what you thought or if you have any questions and what you thought. Notes from the Show:-Nicole is super sweet and offering all listeners $20 their first order! It was the "Mama Bear" in Lesley Pyle that moved her into her life as an entrepreneur. After giving birth to her daughter 22 years ago, the Tomball, Texas, native felt almost immediately that she wasn't going to want to return to her full-time job in an office, which would cause her to be away from her newborn all day. And she was right. When Lesley returned to work, missing her daughter was just too much. After approaching her employer to see if a flexible schedule was possible (it wasn't), Lesley decided to take the leap and begin a business of her own. What followed next as she freelanced and worked on building her business was plenty of Ramen noodles, having to sell one of the family's cars and a lot of cutting back. What Lesley learned she needed most was a network of women like her who wanted more options for how they work. When she couldn't find one, she created it -- and her business continued to evolve from there. Eventually, HireMyMom.com was born. On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Lesley shares with us the ups, downs and realities of starting your own business, how to tap into the needs of your niche and how to know when it's time to seek support when you're ready to grow. On this episode, you'll learn: Go for what you know inside you can do, even if you're not sure how.Never shy away from the "big opportunity" just because you don't think you'll get it.How to tap into the needs of your audience/clients.How to get the word out about your business.Sticking with your niche.Take time to consider your next move. How to have a unique offering for your customer.Knowing when it's time to adjust your business model. How to get through the challenges in your business. How to build your network.
