Have you ever called a big bet, lost the hand, and immediately thought, I knew I should've folded!? Or maybe you made a hero call, won, and convinced yourself it was pure genius? This poker mental trap—what we call the hindsight reflex—is one of the biggest leaks in poker. It skews your perception, making you judge decisions based on results rather than sound strategy. In this episode of the Red Chip Poker Podcast, we break down why this happens, how it warps your thought process, and most importantly, how to fix it. Coach w34z3l dives deep into a hand where Hero faces a tough 5-bet all-in decision with Ace-King and explores how players misinterpret the quality of their play based on what their opponent turns over. Are you making logical, EV-positive decisions, or are you falling into results-oriented thinking? What you'll learn in this episode: ✔️ Why results-oriented thinking leads to poor long-term play ✔️ How to separate strategic errors from mindset leaks ✔️ The key questions to ask yourself after every big decision ✔️ How to make better, more objective hand reviews If you want to level up your poker strategy and stop second-guessing yourself based on the last hand you played, this episode is a must-study. **LINKS** · PRO Membership: https://redchippoker.com/pro-membership · Poker Intuition Explained: https://redchippoker.com/poker-intuition-explained/ · Learning Poker In 2025: https://www.splitsuit.com/learning-poker-6-things-to-learn-first **JOIN US ON DISCORD** Join us on Discord today: https://redchippoker.com/discord

The fellas discuss how this could happen, what we would do if we were in the situation, and then open the door to talking about more moral dilemmas at the poker table and what we would do in those situations. From playing poker to investing in real estate, this guy pretty much figured out how to play this game of life according to his own terms. Listen in as Erik Cabral chats with Pasha Esfandiary about his journey from the poker world to the real estate investing world. As the co-founder and CEO of Evoke Capital, Pasha has found a niche within the mobile home park niche and is also working in housing programs to help vulnerable communities. Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation: Why he decided to transition to real estate The dark side of the poker world The power of finding the right partners Why consider investing in mobile home parks Embracing failure through resilience The parallels between poker and real estate Episode Highlights: [17:11] The Dark Side of Poker The dark side of poker is that typically, people who come into the poker world have a tendency and an affliction towards an addictive personality. That usually plays out in other aspects of their life, whether that's table games, Blackjack, Roulette, all the things, or propensity to do drugs, alcohol, etc. [30:03] Finding Your Cash Flow in Mobile Home Parks Mobile home parks are the only asset class where the supply is dwindling and the demand is increasing. The reason Pasha went to mobile home parks is once you have set everything up mobile home parks can be a pure cashflow machine. [35:37] The Power of Resilience Keep making the right decision that's going to afford you a better life 10 years from now, or a better business 10 years from now, and don't ever deviate from who you are in business. Keep making that right decision over and over and compound it over time, and it will bring you wild success. So we've done some cool literary devices in the past but we've never done personification. It came up in my house this week because my mom's dog, Clemson, has been staying with us and we've been speaking for her all week: “But, Kasie, I love walking in the neighborhood and sniffing everything and never peeing. Let's do it again.”All the sarcasm, silliness, and fun of pretending we know what the animal thinks led Charlie to suggest this topic for the show. It made me think of books that have animals as main characters and how and if the author chose to put us in the mind of that animal. So that's what we're talking about today. It's an animal lovers' paradise, complete with silly voices.Definition time: personification is a noun meaning the attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something nonhuman, or the representation of an abstract quality in human form.So the first obvious thing to unpack is how authors assume one of two things:We have to get in the mind of the animal and think about what it knows, doesn't know, and cares about or doesn't care about. We pretend the animal acts and thinks like a human.Full show notes out on the blog here.

On this episode of the Heart of Poker, Kara is joined by prolific businesswoman and poker powerhouse, Katie Lindsay. Lindsay, who has racked up nearly 2.5 million dollars in live and online cashes combined, has been a been a mainstay in the poker community for many years dating back to pre-Black Friday. After getting hooked on poker by the fascinating story of Chris Moneymaker, she got a foot in the door of the industry by writing for a poker magazine and eventually started an agency where she represented up to 30 poker pros. However, despite her knack for putting people in the spotlight, she prefers to keep a private life and has zero desire to be famous herself. And while she may be a laser-focused entrepreneur and an accomplished poker pro, she also likes to remind herself how fortunate she is to play poker for a living and doesn't mind having a drink and some fun while sitting at the table. She shares how having this attitude helps her relax and enjoy her time at the table, no matter what the results. Kara and Katie go on to touch on the double standards women in poker experience, why happiness is a choice and how Katie makes new friends everywhere she goes. Don't forget to check out previous episodes with Lon McEachern, Nadya Magnus, Jon Van Fleet, Jason Koon, Ebony Kenney, Benny Glaser, Maria Ho and many more of poker's most fascinating personalities.

Andy is the founder of Clearleft, one of the UK's original design consultancies. He's now an in demand speaker, thought leader and advisor on the topics of design & entrepreneurship. We speak about a lot, including: The story behind his departure from day-to-day operations at Clearleft, how he believes that startup founders have a shelf life as CEO, and the importance of bringing new blood into the company as you scale The problems with getting design practices changed in established companies and why he's focusing now on going back to basics with early stage startups and working with founders to instill good design practices from the beginning Why it's important to get design into the startup as early as possible to apply structure and rigour, but how many founders have done more product discovery than we give them credit for How early product managers in founder-run startups are often brought in as the equivalent of short order chefs and the folly of trying to turn McDonalds in to a Michelin starred restaurant The common situation when early founders being people into the company to help apply process, get frustrated when everything slows down but how it's fair enough for founders to feel this since it's ultimately their business on the line How most companies should probably do more research but how most product designers should be more pragmatic and realise that ultimately they can help to sustain the business with less-than-perfect designs The trouble that product & design people can have getting to the top table, the things they might need to do to get there and how product & design teams are playing chess while the rest of the leadership team are playing poker And much more! It's amazing the lessons we can learn about business from all the other activities we do in our lives. One activity that I love to do and had the opportunity to do a lot recently in Las Vegas is playing Poker. In today´s episode, we are going to talk about Poker and all the lessons you can pull out of it to apply it to your business. I will point out a few of the examples in poker that helped me to become successful in my business over time. “The biggest thing that determines whether you make money or not is the games that you play.” - Tom Gaddis In This Episode: How the “Casino” can help you to choose what´s your best option when you are looking to get into a new market or niche Why you need a good strategy when you sit down at a Poker table and why it's critical to have one in your business too Is conventional wisdom always accurate? I´ll tell you what I've learned about it from looking at beginner poker players (beware of this one) And much more... Resources: Download M.I.L.K. Most parents are keen to discourage their children from gambling, but science writer and amateur poker player Alex O'Brien believes the game should be taught in schools.
What makes a poker game “good?” For that matter, what makes any human interaction “good?” As players and people, what social behavior helps us create enjoyable scenes, as opposed to tight and uncomfortable ones? Helping to answer these questions today is Matt Berkey. Matt is the CEO of the Solve For Why Academy training program, where he and a team of elite players provide a unique, advanced poker coaching experience built on real-time analytics and the psychology of personal interactions. He's also played in some of the highest stakes cash games ever televised on the planet. Today, Matt and Nick have a long overdue conversation about creating authentic experiences, the signals we send and receive in poker (and everywhere else), infinite game when it comes to network expansion, and the skills needed to excel as poker keeps changing. Key Takeaways What a good poker game looks like - and what certain types of players want to experience while they play. Common ways players express themselves when they're winning (and losing) - and how these behaviors can impact both enjoyment and performance for everyone else. How conversation at the poker table can change someone's performance. The mindset shift necessary to get invited to (and excel) in private games. How online poker could become an arms race of high-frequency data exchange. A 6 person podcast sounds a little crazy... that's probably because it is however somehow we made it work... Angus, Dan, Franco, Andy, Ward and I sat down around the Poker Table and explored all manner of topics from UFO's to politics to the chaotic current state of world in general. I wasn't sure we'd be able to pull this one off however it's because of the fine gentlemen at the table that we could... Another awesome experience, thanks boys... Enjoy
On this episode we discuss Broken Skull IPA, Scoob, HBO Max, The MailMandolorian, a 3.5r hour cut of the 2016 Ghostbusters and much more. Enjoy.
