A price beyond the cost of a ticket. There is only one way to travel across the Wastelands: on the Trans-Siberian Express, a train as famous for its luxury as for its danger. The train is never short of passengers, eager to catch sight of Wastelands creatures more miraculous and terrifying than anything they could imagine. But on the train's last journey, something went horribly wrong, though no one seems to remember what exactly happened. Not even Zhang Weiwei, who has spent her life onboard and thought she knew all of the train's secrets. Now, the train is about to embark again, with a new set of passengers. Among them are Marya Petrovna, a grieving woman with a borrowed name; Henry Grey, a disgraced naturalist looking for redemption; and Elena, a beguiling stowaway with a powerful connection to the Wastelands itself. Weiwei knows she should report Elena, but she can't help but be drawn to her. As the girls begin a forbidden friendship, there are warning signs that the rules of the Wastelands are changing and the train might once again be imperiled. Can the passengers trust each other, as the wildness outside threatens to consume them all?https://www.instagram.com/sarah_l_brooksVOX VOMITUS: Sometimes, it's not what goes right in the writing process, it's what goes horribly wrong.Host Jennifer Anne Gordon, award-winning gothic horror novelist and Co-Host Allison Martine, award-winning contemporary romance and speculative fiction novelist have taken on the top and emerging new authors of the day, including Josh Malerman (BIRDBOX, PEARL), Paul Tremblay (THE PALLBEARERS CLUB, SURVIVOR SONG), May Cobb (MY SUMMER DARLINGS, THE HUNTING WIVES), Amanda Jayatissa (MY SWEET GIRL), Carol Goodman (THE STRANGER BEHIND YOU), Meghan Collins (THE FAMILY PLOT), and dozens more in the last year alone.

Sarah Brooks shares her experience of being told she had skin cancer after developing a tumour on her scalp, which originated from a hair follicle.Sarah first noticed  she had a problem with her scalp when it became so tender that the cold wind was causing her pain and discomfort! She didn't really know where to go for help, but her GP referred her to a dermatologist, who made her feel like she was to blame, and gave her a shock diagnosis on the spot!He took a biopsy and it was sent off for analysis, and she went home on her own, stunned. She describes feeling abandoned and lonely after her diagnosis and after surgery, with no real follow up or aftercare advice. It only occurred to her afterwards that her experience could have been very different and may have had a very serious outcome. She advises anyone with any suspicious growths or lumps on the scalp to go and seek help now, and not to wait.

#penguinaudio #audiolibro #audiolibros #Santiago #Vera #SantiagoVera See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

On today's episode, we're sharing three really amazing interviews from the AIGA National Leadership Retreat that Brandi attended last month in Atlanta! Ashleigh Axios, Forest Young, and Sarah Brooks talk the future of design and our role as designers. Michelle’s week: Michelle has been up to a lot or organization. Every Saturday for the last month or so she has been going to the Grower's Market that we have In the Albuquerque area. She uses the time to also get groceries and also have some fun with her family. And instead of watching tv at night, Michelle has been crawling into bed are rereading Harry Potter. And besides, that Michelle has been crazy busy at work like always. They are in the process of remodeling their office to she had to move to a different office space. She also impulsively bought a tattoo stick and poke kit! She has already given her husband a tattoo. Stay tuned because the design speaks team may all get matching tattoos. And lastly, Michelle has started doing Body Pump and she is loving it even though she can't walk up Brandi's stairs.  Brandi’s week: Brandi finally finished Stranger Things and she is happy with season 3. She has also signed a couple of contracts for some design work which is exciting, and she is working on preparing for her vow renewal which is in a couple of weeks. And besides that, she got to go to this AIGA conference where she recorded the interviews you will hear in this episode. This was Brandi's first year getting to attend as the president of the New Mexico chapter.   Takeaways from this episode: It’s important to think about how things change over time. As a designer, you not only need specialization but also understanding of the whole. You’re really not as creative as you could be if you just use a mouse. Design is like a conversation using a plethora of visual tools. A community should have consistency. A designer can help shape the future.  There is a responsibility that comes along with design.  Designers have to do research to do good work. She shares with me  her passion for not only the beauty of the land but also the sense of community that makes living there worthwhile. We talked about how the conservancy and others seek to find common ground to discuss challenging issues that affect the valley. She also spoke of how the wildfires of 2014 and 2015 galvanized the nonprofit leaders in the valley to work together more effectively and consistently. The practice of viewing the community as a whole rather than as isolated  parts is far more conducive to creating abundance and long-term success. She also shared deep insights about fundraising. She has adopted a philosophy of being a "broker of dreams" who works with "game changers" (people who want to make a meaningful difference.
