Frank Miller is a comic book writer, artist, and filmmaker. He rose to prominence drawing Marvel's Daredevil in 1979 and became its writer in 1981, introducing Elektra and turning the series into a major success. He went on to create Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, write Batman: Year One, and create Sin City and 300, both of which were adapted into films. His latest book, Push the Wall, recounts his life and career in comics and filmmaking. This week on Autonomy Markets, Grayson Brulte and Walter Piecyk discuss Grayson's field work across the Bay Area, Tesla's September 3rd Cybercab launch and Nevada's authorization of 8,000 autonomous vehicles in Clark County.Fresh off a week of field work in California, Grayson shares firsthand impressions from his first rides in Waymo's Zeekr-built Ojai, including a visit to Waymo's Toland depot in San Francisco. While the Ojai rides lighter and less luxurious than the Jaguar I-PACE, its elevated sensor placement meaningfully reduces repair costs and insurance payouts in the event of a rear-end collision.Grayson views the Ojai as a stopgap vehicle on the path to the Hyundai IONIQ 5, which he believes will be Waymo's massive production ramp vehicle. After riding in the Zoox, the Ojai and the Jaguar back-to-back, and observing Waymo's infrastructure buildout from San Francisco down to San Jose, Grayson makes a prediction. When Waymo adds roughly 1,000 to 1,200 additional vehicles in the Bay Area, the company will capture a significant portion of the rideshare market share.Grayson also rode with Wayve with his AUTNMY AI co-founder Rob Grant in a fully dynamic, no-fixed-route supervised ride, noting the technology has accelerated meaningfully since his last ride in London as Wayve gears up for unsupervised operations.Turning to Tesla, the Cybercab is scheduled to commercially launch in Austin on September 3rd, with Grayson expecting a measured rollout of sub-30 Cybercabs in week one, driven by an internal safety metric and infrastructure that is still being built out.Meanwhile, Nevada's Transportation Authority unanimously authorized 8,000 autonomous vehicles in Clark County over 12 months. Every Batman movie since then carries Frank's fingerprints in some way. But it wasn't just Batman. Frank changed Daredevil. He created Ronin. He created Sin City. He showed that comics could handle adult stories, painful arcs, crime, tragedy, mythology, obsession, and moral ambiguity.But what matters most to me is that Frank is a master storyteller. And I love storytelling. Whether it's books, podcasts, articles, comics, or just how we make sense of our lives, story is everything.So getting to sit down with Frank Miller and talk about Batman, myth, creativity, mentorship, discipline, and his new book, Push the Wall: My Life, Writing, Drawing, and the Art of Storytelling, was a dream come true.This was my first in-person podcast in years. Frank Miller, the legendary comics maker behind Daredevil: Born Again, Ronin, Batman: Year One, Sin City, and The Dark Knight Returns, which celebrates its fortieth anniversary this year, joins us this week to discuss his career as he filtered it through his new memoir/self-help book, Push The Wall: My Life, Writing, Drawing, and The Art of Storytelling. His latest creation floored us. Broken into sixteen lessons, Push the Wall sees Frank Miller excavate his past to understand his pursuit of storytelling. He attempts to explain his rebellious nature and a need to throw himself against opposing forces, but in the process, reveals the awesome, unbeatable power of change. He treats the reader as his mentors did, like Neal Adams and Dick Giordano. Push the Wall works not only as motivation for the struggling artist, but also for the struggling human. The aggression and fascination for violence are present, but more importantly, Push the Wall contains a great softness or vulnerability. Frank Miller is not a creator who doubles down on past mistakes; he admits regret and offers encouragement to everyone who must fail to grow. She helped raise the teenager now accused of killing Anna Kepner. And she just went on national television and pointed the finger at his parents.Timothy Hudson's step-grandmother, Sonya Ziske, broke her silence in a CBS News interview that fractured what was left of this family's public front. She blamed Anna's father Christopher Kepner and stepmother Shauntel Kepner directly. She called the cruise a “floating city that is usually like Sin City.” She said they created a “recipe for disaster” by putting three teenagers who weren't raised together into a single stateroom, by allegedly failing to provide medication, and by what she says was unchecked alcohol access on the ship.The parents have denied the drinking allegations. Shauntel Kepner's attorney said in late 2025 that surveillance video confirmed no underage drinking occurred. That dispute hasn't been resolved.But Ziske's interview isn't just about what the parents did or didn't do on the cruise. It's about the family unraveling in public. A grandmother taking sides against the people who married into her family. A custody battle that's been active since weeks after Anna's death. And the question of whether the adults in that hallway can ever be held criminally responsible for what allegedly happened in that stateroom.This episode pulls apart the emotional weight of the grandmother's accusation — the room arrangement, the timeline that shows no adult checked in for hours, a thirteen-year-old brother who slept feet from Anna's body without knowing — and measures it against the legal reality.
