Ever have one of those homeschool days when your brain feels completely empty? We've been there too. In this episode, we share a long list of practical, creative hacks that can revive your homeschool when energy is low. From painter's tape timelines and DIY history games to geocaching adventures, urban walking tours, and quick art projects, we explore simple ways to bring curiosity back into learning. We also talk about focus tools, seasonal nature activities, and building systems that make everyday homeschooling run smoothly. If you need fresh inspiration or a reminder of the good ideas you already have, this conversation is for you. Tune in and start your own “good ideas” list today. To help you put these ideas into action, here's the full checklist of practical homeschool hacks we discussed:Adhesive whiteboard that sticks to your wall. Lap-sized whiteboards for math & handwriting practice & general doodling. Painter's tape for timelines + write events on index cards and tape to wall.Make-your-own Chronology game (this is an actual card game, but we made our own with index cards)Combine geocaching with local geography & history.Watch urban planning videos — you learn so much about how neighborhoods are constructed!A spin on this — put your own area into the Youtube search bar with “buildings” or “urban planning” or other terms. We've been learning about specific Portland buildings & landmarks this way. Also: look up the origin of place names in your area. Great local history!Cookie sheet with magnets for car trips with littles (and other uses)Make a FOCUS-FIRE-FAST-FUN grid for triaging tasksA little thing that makes a big difference: assign pencil sharpening to a weekly time slot. Get a good sharpener! Also — scissors and tape in every room.Have the kids do wet-on-wet watercolors and then cut into bookmarks. Leave a stash on every bookcaseTake an afternoon to create playlists for yourselves: one for afternoon tidy-up chores, one for instrumental music while reading, one for songs you play to transition between daily activities, etc.Check out Joshua MacNeill's book: 101 Brain Breaks & Educational ActivitiesHave a day for choosing the best squishy stuff for playing with during readalouds - what does each kid like best? Beeswax, Sculpey, modeling clay, silly putty, playdough, wiki stix. Make the texture exploration an activity by itself. With spring coming — plant some peas & sweet peas! An old custom in some regions was to plant your peas on St Patrick's Day. They like cold soil. Cheap, easy activity for rapid payoff.Decorate by cutting out frames from black card stock, stick to clear contact paper, make designs out of pieces of tissue paper. Easy holiday window decor.Look up local foraging groups. Might be able to join a walk & learn about edible plants.Learn about wildlife corridors. Can your yard become one? Some easy ways to assist. Pick one species you'd like to help. Look up its needs: for example, if a butterfly: what host plant is native to your area? What nectar plants attract it? What else might it need – a dish of water with stones for perching on? Or - mason bees. Various birds. Start with a single species and learn how to spot it. Notice who else shows up. A literary tie-in for older kids: Read The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer. A nice tie in – a poetry anthology like The Wonder of Small Things (edited by James Crews) or Sing a Song of Seasons: A Nature Poem for Each Day of the Year (Fiona Waters & Frann Preston-Gannon). Consider propping on a bookstand turned to each day's page.In that vein – any kind of seasonal nature book is great to prop open. Like a field guide turned to a bird your kids might encounter. Make a list of short stories you'd like to discuss with your kids. Keep this on hand for times when you want a short-term literary activity — say, between longer books, or whenever life is filling up with appts/distractions/new baby/etc and you want something self-contained. A good short story immersion can span a single afternoon (but will likely stick with your kids forever).Melissa's daughter keeps a visual reading journal: she chooses a sticker to represent each book. When she finishes a book, she puts the sticker in her notebook with the date, gradually creating a page full of stickers. On the facing page, she writes details about the books. You don't always know how much you know! Make a GOOD IDEAS notebook or Apple Note!Resources:Learn more about geocaching at https://www.geocaching.com. This week, Alex is joined by the newly crowned Marvel Snap Golden Gauntlet Champion: W (formerly WWLOS)! The duo kicks things off by breaking down the brilliant, free-to-play friendly Control deck that secured the tournament win. W explains the secret power of priority, why Super Giant is the ultimate disruption tool, and how the heavily underestimated Elektra became a championship-winning tech card. Then, it's time for a massive OTA and Patch Review. Alex and W discuss the quick buffs to the Season Pass card En Sabah Nur and debate the philosophy of tuning paid cards post-release. They also break down the terrifying scaling of Debris, the adjustments to Ghost and White Tiger, the frustrating nerf to Pixie, and the massive Activate rework given to Mysterio. Finally, they open the Mailbag to discuss Alex's unhinged "Red Pip" Token Shop conspiracy theory and tackle one of the biggest issues in Marvel Snap: Ladder fatigue. Alex pitches a bold idea to introduce Asymmetrical Snapping to the pre-Infinite ladder to reduce retreats and bring the fun back to the climb.Join Alex Coccia and special guest W as they chat about this and more on this episode of The Snap Chat—and catch Cozy and Alex every week as they discuss all things Marvel Snap.Have a question or comment for Cozy and Alex? If you are an aspiring wine nerd, Xinomavro is a wine you just gotta know. Why is that you ask? Well, Xinomavro is often compared to the great Italian wines Barolo and Barbaresco made from the Nebbiolo grape, as well as the great French wines made from Pinot Noir in Burgundy, so that is pretty high praise for a wine you've probably never heard of. Xinomavro is known for its powerful structure (that's wine nerd talk for things like tannins and acidity) and a unique savory aromatic profile (that is also wine nerd talk for aromas and flavors like olive and tomato that you don't find in just any wine), and so while it is often compared to Nebbiolo and Pinot Noir for its complexity and elegance, it is its own unique and powerful wine experience. The area of Nauossa where Xinomavro is most famously from has its roots in Greek mythology, and in fact it is said to be the mythical birthplace of the Greek goddess Semele who is the mother of Dionysus, who is, of course, the Greek god of wine. Again, this is why this wine is a must-know for wine nerds. We tried two different styles of Xinomavro, one younger and fresher, the other more rich and complex, and we found them both to be more than worth seeking out. Time to Get Out of the BoatHost Darryl Anderson urges listeners to “get out of the boat” by taking faith-filled steps at what feels like the worst possible time, applying the idea to marriage, family, business, nonprofits, and ministry. Using Matthew 14:22 and the account of Jesus walking on water in the fourth watch of the night, he explains that God can create and stop the storm and that Peter walked on water by responding to Jesus' one word, “Come,” but sank when he focused on the waves. Anderson argues that trials can be tests preparing for a launch and that stepping out often happens without all resources in place, requiring trust in God.00:00 Step Out the Boat01:21 Why Now Feels Wrong03:11 Safety Versus Growth04:49 God Tests Your Faith06:18 Provision Needs Pressure08:05 Peter Walks on Water10:26 Why Peter Sank13:19 Your Next Faith Step14:13 Man Cave Invitation15:41 More Boats Ahead17:09 Built to Compete20:48 Bigger Vision Impact22:41 Will Jesus Let You Drown23:56 Final Invite and WrapShow is Recorded, Edited and Produced by Darryl D Anderson of Ambassador Media GroupVoiceOvers by Christopher BellIntro Theme Song Edited by Darryl Anderson (AMG) and Mixed by Damion Hill of E-Mix OnlineVISIT OUR WEBSITE for Man2Man 360PLEASE SUBSCRIBE YouTube Page: youtube.com/@man2man360Facebook Page: Facebook.com/Man2Man360Podcasts drop every Saturday at 9am EST.Full Episode Youtube drops every Saturday 8PM ESTLicensed to use song:Tough Kid https://www.premiumbeat.com/royalty-free-tracks/tough-kidIt's Raining Againhttps://www.premiumbeat.com/royalty-free-tracks/it-s-raining-againSFX - https://musicradiocreative.com/Try our NEW Fan Mail experience and send us a Text Message from HERE!
Send me a Text Message. I'm getting personal in this episode of Pattern Shift — recorded from my brand new praktijk in Rotterdam. I trace why I bootstrapped from 300 euros, refused investors, never built a conventional team, and kept rebuilding the brand. I name Pathological Demand Avoidance directly and connect it to my lifelong distrust of the ready-made — in business, fashion, and a painting I found on the side of the road last week. This week Barry, Dave, and Tod check out the catalog for the upcoming Prop Store Entertainment Memorabilia Auction. Send me a Text Message!John 12 is all about love-bursts. Mary had a love-burst, heart full for Jesus. We introduced that in the last episode. She left the table,...and got a small bottle out of her basket. It was full of a very valuable fragrant oil, worth a year's wages. What would that be for you? Put your number on it. Imagine pouring that out. She walks over to Jesus and uncorks the bottle. By now she has everyone's attention, they know what it is. She pours it out. Over his head and shoulders, his feet. And then she wipes off his feet with her hair. This was the crazy generosity of a love-burst. The disciples thought it was too much. When is the last time you were crazy generous like that? The crazy generosity of a love-burst!

Send me a Text Message!John 12 starts on the Saturday before Palm Sunday. Jesus is at Lazarus' house. Yep same Lazarus that was recently dead, now living life large. Jesus is there and I'm telling you everyone wants to see Jesus, everyone wants to be on team Jesus. The crowds are going hard after Jesus. The next day is Palm Sunday, the processional of King Jesus into Jerusalem. The crowds continue to grow. But at the heart of the Saturday before Palm Sunday is the love-burst of Mary...for Jesus. For 2000+ years this story has been told. It's how Mary is remembered? It makes me wonder how I will be remembered. Have you ever had a love-burst?

Send me a Text Message! In John 11, we get a whole new picture of Jesus. We see Jesus, standing near the tomb of his friend, pain and grief cascading over him. It's not simply the death of his friend that he rails against, it is the hand behind death. It is the power behind evil, this death symbolizes the accumulation of all that is wrong in the world. Evil, pain, sorrow and suffering, hopelessness, despair, injustice, cruelty, loneliness, and sin. He weeps for his friends, but he is deeply moved by the outrageous abnormality of what has become normal. As he turns to the tomb, Christ comes face to face with messed up stuff that Father God never intended his children to face when he created us and called it good. He is stirred up in His spirit and shows his face as our champion!
Send Katie a Text Message!! Referrals feel incredible as an interior designer. They're proof your clients love your work and your reputation is strong. But there's something most designers don't realize—referrals alone are not a growth strategy. In this episode, I'm talking about the quiet ceiling referral-driven businesses often hit. When your pipeline depends on referrals, your growth depends on someone else's timing. That's why so many designers experience the frustrating feast-or-famine cycle, even when their reputation is solid. This conversation isn't about abandoning referrals—they're a wonderful byproduct of great work. But if you want predictable growth and a business that truly supports your life, referrals can't be your only engine.Today I'm sharing the mindset shift that moves designers from waiting to be chosen to intentionally creating demand for their services.IN THIS EPISODE:• Why referrals are validation—not a scalable marketing system• The real reason many design firms experience feast-or-famine revenue• The difference between reactive marketing and intentional demand• Simple ways to create consistent visibility without feeling pushy• The CEO mindset shift that allows your firm to scale predictablyReferrals show that your clients are happy—but they don't give you control over your pipeline. Send me a Text Message!Isn't there something in each of us that wants to believe that our stories matter? Sometimes we call that hope. We want to believe that we are living a good story, or perhaps even better yet, we want to believe that we are part of a good story. Yet, there are chapters where it seems like we are stuck in a bad news story. Right? In our culture today, we talk more than a bit about the good life. I live in Happy Valley. How could I live anything but the good life in a place called Happy Valley? But even in Happy Valley, we have bad news stories, right? There is a question that Jesus asks in this story. The question first to Martha is simply, "Do you believe?" You understand the resurrection is not just something to believe in, it is someone to believe. What do you believe?

Sally K. Norton, a Cornell-trained nutritionist with a master's in public health, spent decades sick while eating all the "right" foods before connecting her arthritis, chronic fatigue, sleep dysfunction, and other symptoms to oxalate accumulation. Her research — drawing on tens of thousands of peer-reviewed articles — reveals that medical and nutritional institutions have long known oxalates cause problems, but the information never connected across disciplines, was never prioritized, and got buried under decades of commercial food messaging and dietary dogma. Critically, simply eliminating high-oxalate foods overnight can trigger a difficult detox response as stored crystals release from tissues, so gradual dietary change is recommended. Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message. What happens when an employee battles their former employer in a high-stakes legal showdown that intertwines race, mental health, and corporate compliance? Join Mark Carey in this gripping episode of the Employee Survival Guide® as he uncovers the riveting story of Michael Curtis, a former employee of Baird, who is navigating the treacherous waters of the federal court system without legal representation. This episode dives deep into the complexities of self-representation (pro se) in a case that raises critical questions about discrimination, retaliation, and the rights of employees in today's corporate landscape. As Curtis confronts severe mental health challenges, he finds himself in a hostile work environment where his requests for reasonable accommodations were met with indifference and hostility. The chilling reality of race discrimination looms large as Curtis alleges that his ex-employer discriminated against him when he sought help, only to face retaliation and unjust termination. Baird's claims of performance issues and dishonesty regarding attendance add another layer of complexity to this already fraught situation. Listeners will be captivated by the emotional toll that navigating the legal system can take on individuals who feel powerless against corporate giants. As Curtis's case approaches a pivotal summary judgment phase, the stakes couldn't be higher—he is seeking millions in damages while grappling with the procedural labyrinth of employment law. This episode serves as a cautionary tale about the pervasive surveillance culture in modern workplaces and its detrimental effects on employees seeking help for mental health issues. Through this compelling narrative, we explore the broader implications of workplace discrimination, the importance of employee rights, and the urgent need for corporate empathy. Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message. What happens when a medical emergency at work is misclassified as workplace violence? In this gripping episode of Employee Survival Guide®, Mark Carey and his co-hosts unravel the harrowing story of Adelita Martinez, a 23-year veteran emergency room technician whose life took a shocking turn after suffering a severe panic attack on the job and disability discrimination. Her employer, Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH), labeled her distressing medical crisis as an act of workplace violence, resulting in her abrupt termination. This incident raises profound questions about disability discrimination and the obligations of employers to protect employee rights. Join us as we dissect the legal implications of Martinez's case, highlighting the stark realities of disability rights in the workplace and the critical failures in accommodating her known disabilities, including PTSD and severe anxiety. Our hosts dive deep into the murky waters of employment law, examining key legislation such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the New York City Human Rights Law. We explore how these laws intersect with the issues of discrimination and reasonable accommodation, and what they mean for employees in similar situations. The episode features compelling narratives from both the hospital and Martinez, illustrating the thin line between a medical emergency and terminable misconduct. We tackle the uncomfortable truths about corporate responsibility and the treatment of mental health issues in the workplace, shedding light on the often-overlooked aspects of employee advocacy and empowerment. This is not just a story about one individual; it's a wake-up call for all employees navigating the complexities of workplace culture, hostile work environments, and the ever-looming threat of retaliation. Whether you're an employee facing discrimination, a manager seeking to foster a supportive work culture, or simply someone interested in understanding employment law issues, this episode is packed with insights and practical advice. Alex and Bynx review all the upcoming releases:En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse): Is the Season Pass card a competitive staple or just a fun mid-range tool?Isca the Unbeaten: Both hosts agree this Super Premium card is an absolute 5-Star powerhouse.Gambit: Bynx reveals a terrifying Day 1 synergy using Mysterio to wipe the opponent's board.Sandstorm & Ozymandias: Bynx drops a massive hot take, claiming the 2-Cost Sandstorm skill will be the secret star of the rock archetype over Ozymandias.Juggernaut, Caliban, Selene, & Ramu: Previews and ratings for the rest of the month's wild releases. Finally, they open the Mailbag to answer whether Snap needs an "Energy Cap" tech card, which prompts a passionate rant from Bynx about why he fundamentally hates cards like Mobius M. Send me a Text Message! In this series, “The Jesus Way" we are Listening to, learning from and leaning into the gospel of John; to get a better picture of what it looks like to be a Jesus-apprentice. And in this episode, we are finishing John chapter 10. But like the last episode, I'm going to start in John 10 but then wander a bit, all the way back to the Psalm 23. Why Psalm 23? Because there is a lot in John 10, about spiritual battle and a lot about Jesus being our great Shepherd. John 10 contains another one of Jesus “I am” statements. I am the great Shepherd. And as I was reading John 10 through again, I kept thinking of Psalm 23, which is all about sheep, shepherds, and a crazy battle plan.

Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message. What happens when an employee's right to a safe and inclusive workplace is challenged by the very company that hired them? In this episode of the Employee Survival Guide®, Mark Carey takes listeners on a deep dive into retaliation discrimination. Through the case of Carmen Jane, a Black transgender woman and former Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Henry Schein, Inc. , we explore the harsh realities of discrimination, retaliation, and the importance of employee rights. Carmen was hired for a fully remote role, yet she found herself unexpectedly compelled to attend an in-person corporate event. What should have been a routine gathering quickly became a hostile environment as she faced potential transphobic remarks from her colleagues. When Carmen courageously reported these incidents, she was met with the shocking aftermath: just three business days later, she was terminated under the vague pretense of being a 'poor fit. ' This abrupt dismissal not only raises questions about workplace culture but also highlights the legal intricacies surrounding retaliation claims versus discrimination claims. Listeners will gain invaluable insights into the timeline of events that can dramatically alter the outcomes of legal disputes. Mark discusses the chilling effects of retaliation, the importance of following HR protocols, and the broader implications for workplace dynamics. This episode serves as a powerful reminder of the rights of employees in the face of discrimination and the essential tools for navigating employment law issues that can arise in today's complex work environment. Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message.A single checkbox on day one can set a legal time bomb you never see coming. We trace how a standard 180‑day lawsuit clause in employment onboarding ran straight into the guardrails Congress built for workplace civil rights—and why the Fourth Circuit said you can't squeeze a 270‑day federal process into a 180‑day corporate box. Using Thomas v. EOTech, decided just days ago, we walk through the timeline math, the EEOC's role, and the reason conciliation is supposed to come before courtroom battle. We break down the two‑step structure at the core of Title VII and the ADEA: a 180–300 day charging window that flexes under cooperative federalism, followed by a 90‑day right‑to‑sue period. Then we show how a private countdown collides with that sequence, pressuring employees to “lawyer up” during conciliation and nudging the EEOC to chase the wrong cases just to beat a clock. Along the way, we dismantle the precedents EOTech leaned on, explaining why arbitration policy under the FAA and bargaining frameworks under the Railway Labor Act do not translate to the individual protections and nationwide uniformity of federal civil rights enforcement. There's a sharp turn on state law too. While the federal claims are revived, Maryland's Sicone standard allowed a shortened period in principle, and a briefing misstep doomed the state claim. We talk bargaining power, public policy, and how small choices in appellate strategy can decide big outcomes. If you've ever scrolled past HR legalese, this story will change how you read every clause—from limitations periods to other boilerplate that might already be on borrowed time.Listen for practical takeaways on timelines, documentation, and when to seek help, plus a candid look at what this ruling signals for contracts across the country. If the insights land, follow the show, share this episode with a colleague, and leave a quick review so more workers and managers learn what those checkboxes really mean. Have you ever picked up a Portuguese wine, stared at the label, and thought... I have absolutely no idea what this means? Same! And here's the thing: Douro Branco might be Portugal's best white wine value that no one is talking about. So this week, we are fixing that! In this episode, we break down what Douro Branco actually means, why the Douro Valley's brutal climate and ancient vines produce some of the most interesting white wines in Europe, and what the heck "field blends" are and why they make this wine so different from almost anything else you'll find on the shelf. We also give you a quick Portuguese wine vocabulary lesson so you can stop being scared of the words on the label. Then we taste and review two Douro Branco wines, both under $15, to find out if either one earns a spot on your dinner table. Spoiler: one of them made the cut! This week, the Regular Joes talk about three very different TV series. Pluribus is a surprise hit for Apple, though it really shouldn't be. Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan knows how to tell a compelling story. This time he takes the alien body snatcher trope and goes places you would never expect. Just when you thought another trip to Westeros would be more of the same HBO serves up a Knight of Seven Kingdoms. Much more about impalement, then backstabbing, Knight gives us a character piece that does not require a chart or spreadsheet to follow. While the first two shows are unexpected surprises Monarch: Legacy of the Monsters back for a second season on Apple is not. With one episode to date it's everything we loved … plus Kong. Send me a Text Message! The first problem we have in discovering our identity is that we simply don't know his voice. As my friend Terry says, "We need to develop voice recognition, because we don't recognize his voice." The problem is that we've let so many other voices into our souls. We let the voices that shout lies into our hearts and miss the voice that whispers truth. Ultimately our identity is shaped by the direction of our ears. So in this episode we'll start in John 10, but we'll spend a little bit of time in Mark 4, where Jesus tells a story about listening and the power of listening to give us a life of great impact. If you want a life of 100x impact, you need to get good at listening for His voice!
