Under Governor Gavin Newsom, California has taken on an environmental policy that aims to reduce its carbon footprint, and that relies heavily on zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). But California's pathway to going green may face its biggest obstacle in the coming Trump Administration. The President-Elect has vowed to cut federal tax breaks for ZEV purchases, and de-regulate federal environmental policies.   While Governor Newsom says he plans to bring back state-level incentives for ZEV purchases if those tax breaks are revoked, California is preparing for a fight with the new Trump Administration over its environmental future. One of the more contentious issues surrounding electric vehicles in Canada are so-called ZEV mandates, which sets target dates for EV sales. Several provinces have such mandates, including British Columbia and Quebec, but it is the federal government mandate that has really puts stakes in the ground.  As a reminder, Canada's zero emission vehicle mandate requires automakers ensure that 20 per cent in 2026, 60 per cent in 2030 and 100 per cent in 2035 of their vehicles sold in Canada are ZEVs. The PBO report set out to find if other words are these ZEV targets are realistic.  The short answer, according to the report findings, is they are not. To discuss this and other issues — including Chinese EVs — is Global Automakers of Canada president David Adams, an industry expert specializes in analyzing the disruption and evolution of both the automobile and the automotive industry in Canada. That includes zero emission vehicles and their adoption as well as the regulatory environment necessary to support the adoption of automated and connected vehicles. Learn more about your ad choices. On this day in legal history, November 22 marks a pivotal moment with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. While traveling through Dallas, Texas, Kennedy was fatally shot, an event that sent shockwaves across the nation and the world. His death not only marked a tragic loss but also ignited numerous conspiracy theories and debates about the circumstances surrounding the assassination.Prior to his assassination, President Kennedy had made notable comments about the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), expressing a desire to dismantle and reform the organization. He is famously quoted as having threatened to "tear the CIA apart and scatter it to the winds," reflecting his growing frustration with the agency's operations. This, and other unique facts and coincidences set the stage for as many conspiracy theories as there have been viewers of the Zapruder film of the assassination. In the wake of Kennedy's death, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was swiftly sworn in as the 36th President of the United States, symbolizing a rapid and solemn transition of power during a time of national crisis. The gravity of the situation led to an immediate demand for answers and the need to address widespread public speculation and concern. To this end, Chief Justice Earl Warren was appointed to head a special commission, later known as the Warren Commission, to thoroughly investigate the assassination. This commission was tasked with uncovering the facts and circumstances of Kennedy's death, and its formation underscored the legal and historical significance of the event. The Warren Commission conducted an extensive investigation, delving into various aspects of the assassination, including Lee Harvey Oswald's background, his actions on the day of the assassination, and any possible conspiracies. The commission's final report, presented to President Johnson on September 24, 1964, concluded that Oswald acted alone in assassinating Kennedy. The report, however, did not put an end to the controversy and speculation. Over the years, numerous theories and counter-arguments have emerged, questioning the commission's findings and suggesting alternative explanations. The Kennedy assassination remains a subject of fascination and debate, symbolizing a moment in history where legal, political, and social narratives intersected dramatically. The events of November 22, 1963, continue to resonate as a significant and somber chapter in American legal and political history.Binance Holdings Ltd. and its CEO, Changpeng Zhao, have pleaded guilty to anti-money laundering and US sanctions violations, settling a lengthy legal battle with the US. Under the settlement, Binance will pay a massive $4.3 billion fine, while Zhao will pay $50 million and step down as CEO. This resolution, involving the Justice Department, Treasury Department, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, concludes a years-long investigation into the cryptocurrency exchange's activities. The charges against Binance included transactions with terrorist groups such as Hamas, operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, and violating US sanctions. Zhao could face up to 10 years in prison, but is likely to receive no more than 18 months under his plea deal. This deal contrasts with harsher penalties faced by other crypto criminals.Binance's violations were extensive, involving failure to report suspicious transactions and allowing over a million transactions between US and Iran-based customers. Attorney General Merrick Garland emphasized the significant size of Binance's penalties, reflecting the severity of its legal breaches. The fines will be distributed among various US agencies. As part of the settlement, Zhao has stepped down as Binance CEO, succeeded by Richard Teng. Binance must also enhance its compliance program and appoint an independent monitor for three years. Despite admitting to lacking proper compliance controls, Binance maintains it did not misappropriate user funds or engage in market manipulation. The case highlighted Binance's deliberate avoidance of US laws to attract US users. The exchange facilitated US-based VIP customers to trade through offshore entities, with internal communications revealing strategies to evade US oversight. Zhao, aware of the presence of US customers, chose a risky approach, preferring to ask for forgiveness rather than permission. In court, Zhao accepted responsibility, agreeing to a $175 million bond for his release while awaiting sentencing. The resolution marks one of the largest penalties in the crypto industry, reflecting increasing scrutiny and legal actions against major players in this sector. The case against Binance underscores the growing regulatory focus on cryptocurrency exchanges and their compliance with international laws.Binance Pleads Guilty, Loses CZ, Pays Fines to End Legal WoesBinance's Zhao pleads guilty, steps down to settle US illicit finance probe | ReutersAccording to exclusive reporting by Riddhi Setty at Bloomberg Law, Macy's Inc. is facing scrutiny from America First Legal (AFL), a conservative legal group led by former Trump adviser Stephen Miller. AFL has accused Macy's of implementing a racially discriminatory diversity plan and has requested the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to investigate the retailer. Macy's 2019 five-point diversity plan, which aims for increased ethnic diversity in senior positions and leadership skill development for managers and directors of various ethnic backgrounds, is at the center of AFL's allegations.AFL asserts that Macy's diversity initiatives likely breach federal laws, particularly Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which prohibits race discrimination. This legal challenge is part of AFL's broader strategy, having targeted other high-profile employers like NASCAR, Major League Baseball, and Starbucks for their diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. The group's increased activity follows the US Supreme Court decision limiting race-conscious policies in higher education. AFL has urged the EEOC commissioners to file a “commissioner charge” against Macy's, a relatively rare action within the agency, with a significant increase in such charges filed in the fiscal year 2022 compared to 2021.Additionally, AFL has written to Macy's board of directors and chairman, arguing that the retailer's diversity policies not only violate federal civil rights laws but also constitute a waste of company assets and a breach of fiduciary duty.Stephen Miller's Legal Group Targets Macy's Diversity PoliciesIn a significant legal victory, General Mills Inc., Kraft Heinz Co., Kellogg Co., and Nestle SA won a price-fixing lawsuit against the nation's largest egg producers. An Illinois federal jury found that Cal-Maine Foods Inc., Rose Acre Farms Inc., and two egg-industry trade groups conspired to restrict egg supply, leading these food companies to overpay for eggs for years. This decision, reached on November 21, 2023, by a jury of nine men and three women, marks a notable outcome in antitrust litigation. The jury's verdict, which is yet to be quantified in terms of damages, will be determined in a trial set to begin on November 29. Importantly, any awarded damages will be trebled by law, although the jury won't be informed of this statutory requirement. The defense, led by King & Spalding LLP partners, appeared stunned by the verdict, with the attorneys visibly shocked in the courtroom. This lawsuit began in 2011 when the food producers sued the egg producers and trade groups, alleging a conspiracy to reduce supply and artificially inflate egg prices. The jury agreed with the plaintiffs, finding evidence of the conspiracy from October 2004 to December 2008 through actions like reducing the hen population and increasing egg exports. However, the jury did not find that all egg producers associated with the industry groups were part of the conspiracy, nor did it agree that the food companies were injured by the alleged conspiracy from 2009 to 2012.The verdict in favor of the food companies could set a precedent and encourage other plaintiffs to pursue anticompetitive behavior cases against food producers. This case is seen as part of a broader scrutiny of antitrust practices in the food industry. The presiding judge, Steven Seeger, praised the quality of legal advocacy from both sides, even humorously distributing egg-containing brownies to the lawyers at the end of the arguments. The case, known as Kraft Foods Global, Inc. v. United Egg Producers, Inc., represents a critical moment in the ongoing legal battles over price-fixing and market manipulation in the food industry.Kellogg, Kraft Win Price-Fixing Suit Against Egg Companies (2)New Jersey has officially committed to phasing out new gasoline-powered cars by 2035, joining several other states in this environmental initiative. The state's Advanced Clean Cars II rule, set to be published on December 18, mandates that all new cars, pickup trucks, and SUVs sold in New Jersey must be zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) by 2035. This move aligns with standards first established by California in 2022, requiring manufacturers to gradually increase the percentage of ZEVs in their sales starting from the 2027 model year. The decision has been praised by environmentalists and lawmakers, including US Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-N.J.), who sees it as a crucial step in combating climate change and transforming the transportation sector. The Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council have also lauded New Jersey's commitment to cleaner air, improved public health, and climate change mitigation. However, the move has been met with criticism from industry groups. The New Jersey Coalition of Automotive Retailers views the rule as an extreme government mandate that restricts consumer choice and could lead to unintended consequences, such as consumers holding onto older, gas-powered vehicles longer. Dave Rible from the New Jersey Utility and Transportation Contractors Association also criticized the plan, citing the current state of infrastructure and economics as incompatible with such a transition. The rule allows other states to adopt California's stringent standards under the federal Clean Air Act, a path already chosen by several states including Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York. While New Jersey's rule doesn't directly restrict consumers or car dealers and offers some flexibility for manufacturers, the New Jersey Coalition of Automotive Retailers argues that the approach is heavy-handed and could negatively impact consumer behavior. Despite these concerns, New Jersey's commitment represents a significant step in the nationwide effort to transition towards cleaner, more sustainable transportation solutions.New Jersey Officially on Board to Phase Out Gas Cars by 2035 (1)A Florida judge has found "reasonable evidence" suggesting that Tesla CEO Elon Musk and other company executives were aware of defects in the automaker's Autopilot system but continued to allow the cars to be driven, posing safety risks. This ruling, by Judge Reid Scott of the Palm Beach County Circuit Court, is significant as it allows the plaintiff in a fatal crash lawsuit to pursue punitive damages against Tesla for intentional misconduct and gross negligence. The lawsuit stems from a 2019 incident where a Tesla Model 3, driven by Stephen Banner, crashed under a big rig truck, resulting in Banner's death. This ruling marks a setback for Tesla, which had previously won two product liability trials in California regarding its Autopilot system. The judge's summary of evidence highlights "alarming inconsistencies" between Tesla's internal knowledge and its external marketing claims about Autopilot's capabilities.Judge Scott's findings indicate that Tesla engaged in misleading marketing by portraying its products as autonomous, and Musk's public statements significantly influenced public perception of the technology. The judge also determined that Tesla's warnings in manuals and agreements were inadequate and highlighted the similarity of this accident to a 2016 fatal crash involving the Autopilot system's failure to detect crossing trucks. The judge cited a 2016 promotional video showing a Tesla driving autonomously as misleading, noting its lack of disclaimers about the technology's aspirational nature. This evidence, according to the judge, could lead to a public trial with potentially awkward revelations for Tesla and Musk, and potentially result in a verdict that includes punitive damages. Banner's attorney expressed pride in the results based on evidence of punitive conduct.Judge finds evidence that Tesla, Musk knew about Autopilot defect | ReutersOpenAI and Microsoft are embroiled in a lawsuit for allegedly misusing the work of nonfiction authors in training their AI models, such as ChatGPT. The new board will consist of notable figures like Bret Taylor, Larry Summers, and Adam D'Angelo, who was among those voting to oust Altman.Altman's firing, initially citing a lack of candor in board discussions, has exposed rifts within OpenAI over its control and future direction. Since its inception as a nonprofit, OpenAI has evolved under Altman's leadership, attracting significant investments and shifting towards consumer product development. This shift has raised concerns about the company veering away from its original mission of being a transparent alternative to Big Tech.Altman's return is seen as a stabilizing factor for OpenAI, bringing relief to investors, customers, and employees who feared the boardroom upheaval could lead to the company's collapse. This reinstatement is also beneficial for Microsoft, OpenAI's largest investor, which heavily relies on OpenAI's technology for its AI products. Polonca Zupančič: Platonov Aristofan o izvorni naravi ljudi

Intergovernmental organisation the International Energy Agency (IEA) in its 'Breakthrough Agenda Report 2022' says international collaboration will be critical to successfully transition to sustainability, given the global scale and fast pace of change that is required. "Action by governments and businesses individually is necessary, but not sufficient. Well-targeted international collaboration can make low-carbon transitions faster, less difficult and lower cost. “By aligning and coordinating actions internationally, countries and businesses can accelerate innovation, create stronger signals for investment and larger economies of scale, and establish level playing fields, where needed, to ensure that competition is a driver of the transition and not a brake," it says. "International assistance, finance and the sharing of best practice can support widespread adoption of effective policies and available technologies. International infrastructure can enable cross-border flows of clean energy. Without international collaboration, the transition to net-zero global emissions could be delayed by decades," the IEA emphasises. The IEA Breakthrough Agenda Report 2022 focuses on actions in five sectors – power, hydrogen, road transport, steel and agriculture, which account for more than 50% of global greenhouse-gas emissions, and for which the signatories have so far agreed on goals under the Breakthrough Agenda. "Clean technologies and sustainable solutions are not yet the most affordable or accessible options in these sectors, except in the power sector, and even in the power sector, this is not yet the case in all countries. "Meeting the Breakthrough Agenda goals in these sectors will require concerted action from governments, businesses and civil society, while doing so could enable all countries to make faster progress, greatly increasing the chances of avoiding more dangerous levels of climate change and meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals," the IEA says. SECTOR RECOMMENDATIONS The power sector accounts for about 13 Gt of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e), or 23%, of total emissions, which has risen by about 10% since 2010 and needs to fall by more than 50% by 2030. Investment will need to grow 25% each year, reaching $2-trillion a year by 2030. Hydrogen production and use, meanwhile, accounts for about 0.9 Gt of CO2e, or 1.5% of total emissions. Renewable and low-carbon hydrogen production currently accounts for less than 1% of total production. Targets and commitments to use low-carbon and renewable hydrogen are equivalent to 3% of current total hydrogen demand. Currently, 15% of ammonia and 28% of methanol is internationally traded, the IEA report indicates. "Governments and companies should coordinate internationally to increase commitments for the use of low-carbon and renewable hydrogen in sectors where hydrogen is currently used, supported by specific policies and purchase agreements to collectively send a strong demand signal and mobilise investment in production. "In new priority application sectors, countries should share learning to accelerate early deployment. This should be done in a manner that ensures a level playing field in international trade," the IEA recommends. Further, the road transport sector accounts for about 6 Gt of CO2e, or 10% of total emissions, which has risen by 13% since 2010 and needs to decrease by nearly 33% by 2030. "Public charging infrastructure needs to increase ten-fold by 2030. If major markets align their policies with zero-emissions vehicle (ZEV) sales by 2035, cost parity between ZEVs and internal combustion engine vehicles could be reached several years earlier. “Further, more than 60% of the vehicles added to the roads in Africa each year are imported used vehicles," the IEA report highlights. Meanwhile, the steel sector accounts for about 3 Gt of CO2e, or 5% of total emissions, which has risen by about 15% since 2010 and needs to fall by about 25% by 2030. Glob...

Glob...

Senior officials in the U.S. government, including White House lawyer Dana Remus, deputy assistant to the president Rob Flaherty, and onetime White House senior COVID-19 adviser Andy Slavitt, have been in touch with one or more major social media companies to try to get the companies to tighten rules on allegedly false and misleading information on COVID-19, and take action against users who violate the rules, the documents show. In July 2021, for instance, after Biden said that Facebook was “killing people” by not combating misinformation effectively, an executive at Meta reached out to Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, a Biden appointee, to say that government and Meta teams met after the remarks “to better understand the scope of what the White House expects from us on misinformation going forward.” The same executive later wrote to Murthy saying, “I wanted to make sure you saw the steps we took just this past week to adjust policies on what we are removing with respect to misinformation, as well as steps taken to further address the ‘disinfo dozen,'” including removing pages linked to the group. The White House publicly pressured social media companies to take action against a group officials dubbed the “disinformation dozen,” which a nonprofit claimed were producing the bulk of “anti-vaccine misinformation” on the platforms. Also in July 2021, Murthy said Facebook had not done enough to combat misinformation. Rob Flaherty, director of digital strategy for the White House, told Slavitt and others in April 2021 that White House staff would be briefed by Twitter “on vaccine misinfo,” with the meeting including “ways the White House (and our COVID experts) can partner in product work,” according to one of the messages. In another exchange that year, a Department of Treasury official working on “mis, dis, and mal-information” told Meta workers that the deputy treasury secretary wanted to talk about “potential influence operations.” In a text in February 2021, meanwhile, U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Director Jen Easterly, wrote to another agency official that she was “trying to get us in a place where Fed can work with platforms to better understand the mis/dis trends so relevant agencies can try to prebunk/debunk as useful.” The documents were part of a preliminary production in a lawsuitlevied against the government by the attorneys general of Missouri and Louisiana, later joined by experts maligned by federal officials. “If there was ever any doubt the federal government was behind censorship of Americans who dared to dissent from official Covid messaging, that doubt has been erased,” Jenin Younes, a lawyer with the New Civil Liberties Alliance who is representing some of the plaintiffs in the case, said in a statement. “The shocking extent of the government’s involvement in silencing Americans, through coercing social-media companies, has now been revealed.” Club Membership Plug: Let’s stop and take a moment to talk about Fight Laugh Feast Club membership. Greg Abbott Begins Busing Illegal Immigrants to Chicago Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday said that illegal aliens apprehended along the U.S.-Mexico border are now being bused to Chicago in addition to New York City and Washington. Abbott said his strategy to bus illegal immigrants from Texas to the Democrat-led sanctuary cities makes a strategic point about the impact of President Joe Biden’s “open border policies” on American communities. “President Biden’s inaction at our southern border continues putting the lives of Texans—and Americans—at risk and is overwhelming our communities,” the Republican governor said in a statement. “To continue providing much-needed relief to our small, overrun border towns, Chicago will join fellow sanctuary cities Washington, D.C. and New York City as an additional drop-off location.” Acknowledging Chicago’s sanctuary city policies, Abbott said Mayor Lori Lightfoot “loves to tout” that her city welcomes illegal immigrants as a matter of “responsibility.” “I look forward to seeing this responsibility in action as these migrants receive resources from a sanctuary city with the capacity to serve them,” Abbott said. Chicago Calls Busing Program ‘Racist’ The Chicago mayor’s office confirmed that around 60 illegal aliens arrived at Union Square from Texas on Wednesday night and were being provided with essential services while they “navigate the next steps of their journey.” “As a city we are doing everything we can to ensure these immigrants and their families receive shelter, food, and most importantly protection,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “This is not new; Chicago welcomes hundreds of migrants every year to our city and provides much-needed assistance.” The spokesperson also accused Abbott of having no “shame or humanity” and described the busing program as “racist practices.” The mayors of Washington and New York City, Muriel Bowser and Eric Adams, have also criticized the busing program, calling it a political stunt. But Abbott has said the illegal immigrants voluntarily chose to go to their cities where there is more capacity to serve them. The Texas governor first directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management in April to charter buses to transport illegal immigrants who claimed asylum when apprehended along the U.S.-Mexico border to Washington. New York City was added as a second drop-off location in August. Since then, more than 8,900 illegal aliens have been bused out of Texas to those cities, providing “much-needed relief to Texas’ overwhelmed border communities,” according to Abbott’s office. Overwhelmed with the influx of illegal aliens arriving from Texas, Bowser has twice asked the Biden administration to deploy National Guard personnel to help her city cope. Both requests were denied. Lightfoot signed Chicago’s “Welcoming City Ordinance” measure in February 2021 to strengthen the city’s sanctuary policies, which prevented local police from cooperating with federal immigration authorities. “Chicago has been a welcoming city and a city of immigrants since its very founding, and proudly so,” Lightfoot said at the time. Abbott’s office noted that under this policy Chicago doesn’t deny city services to individuals based on their immigration status. “With its ‘Welcoming City Ordinance’ making it a sanctuary city, Chicago will not deny city services to individuals based on their immigration status. The city also does not require local police to cooperate with federal immigration authorities,” Abbott’s office said. Abbott promised to keep busing illegal aliens to so-called sanctuary cities until the Biden administration “does its job” to secure the border. The move comes as California urges residents to not charge their electric vehicles during a heatwave to avoid straining the electrical grid. An Oregon Department of Environmental Quality advisory committee is now in the process of creating what it calls “Advanced Clean Cars II Rules,” which will guide the state toward that new goal. California announced on Aug. 24 that it would begin to phase out gas-powered vehicles beginning in 2026, when 35 percent of all passenger vehicles and light duty trucks sold in the state must be zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). With an anticipated increase of nearly 8 percent annually, the state has vowed that 100 percent of all vehicles sold in California will be ZEVs by 2035. Oregon aims to follow suit. “The transportation sector accounts for more than 40 percent of Oregon’s greenhouse gas emissions,” the Oregon Department of Energy said in a statement. “Moving to cleaner, alternative fuel transportation options, like zero-emission vehicles, can reduce those harmful Green House Gases (GHGs) and help Oregon reach its climate goals.” Oregon had already been working toward a goal set by its legislature in 2019 to have 250,000 registered ZEVs in the state by 2025. As of April, there were approximately 50,000 ZEVs on Oregon roads, falling well short of the pace to meet that goal in the first three years. “We’re committed to getting more electric vehicles [EVs] on Oregon’s roads and 50,000 registered EVs is a major milestone,” said Amanda Pietz, administrator of the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Climate Office. “EVs make up about 8 percent of new cars, trucks, and SUVs sold in Oregon, and we’ll support that growing market through partnerships to build out EV charging stations along major roads and in Oregon’s communities.” The state will also “support” that market by banning gas-powered vehicles and using taxpayer-funded subsidies to prime the pump. Oregon offers as much as $7,500 in taxpayer-funded rebates on top of the federal tax credit of $7,500 toward the purchase of a ZEV. Utilities in the state are offering additional rebates of up to $1,500 for a vehicle purchase and up to $1,000 to install a residential home charger or workplace-commercial charging station. The Go Electric Oregon website encourages buyers to “stack” government incentives to obtain more than $16,500 to use for the purchase of a ZEV. According to Oregon Public Broadcasting, taxpayers have already subsidized the purchase of electric vehicles (at an average cost of $66,000) to the tune of $55 million. One 2018 estimate puts the average income of an electric vehicle driver at $150,000 compared to the U.S. average of $63,000. In May, the Oregon Department of Transportation committed to spending $100 million in federal and state funds over the next five years to expand Oregon’s EV charging infrastructure. The transition to ZEVs seems to overlook increasing concern over their environmental impact and national security implications. Making ZEV batteries requires the use of fossil fuels to process ore and extract minerals, including lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper, and graphite. They also require steel, aluminum, plastic, and other materials. The extraction and processing of these minerals are dominated by China and the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to Bloomberg, China controls 80 percent of the market for EV batteries. The push to convert to ZEVs will also create challenges to the electrical grid. In a 2018 analysis, energy economists at the University of Texas found that if California drivers were to go fully electric overnight, the state would need about 47 percent more electricity than it currently consumes. All the states that follow California’s emission standards will face similar challenges. But California’s electrical grid is already strained and Oregon’s faces uncertainty. With a heatwave looming, California’s grid operator issued an alert on Aug. 31, urging residents to avoid using large appliances and charging electric vehicles between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. over the Labor Day weekend. “Lowering electricity use during that time will ease strain on the system, and prevent more drastic measures, including rotating power outages,” the alert reads. Oregon Gov. Kate Brown has supported removing or breaching the Lower Snake River Dams to protect fish populations. Carbon-free hydropower from dams makes up 45 percent of the electricity used in Oregon. https://www.breitbart.com/sports/2022/08/31/report-20-mlb-teams-promote-fund-groups-perform-child-sex-change-operations/ Report: 20 MLB Teams ‘Promote or Fund’ Groups that Perform Child Sex Change Operations The magazine reviewed the causes and organizations to which these teams are handing out millions of dollars in donations and found that many support sex-change surgery, hormone treatments, and other dangerous procedures for “transitioning” teens and pre-teens. National Review found that almost every team in the league “promote or fund groups that encourage or provide sex-change procedures and gender-transition hormone treatment for minors as young as 12. Other organizations promote ‘social transitions’ — i.e., nonmedical changes in ‘gender expression,’ including the adoption of new names, pronouns, and clothing — for children as young as three.” Much of the support these teams are lending is organized under the rubric of the widespread LGBTQ “Pride Nights” that the league pushes. Along with the yearly events in the stadiums, the teams also donate money to a number of advocacy groups — usually local groups, but often national groups, as well. The Detroit Tigers, for instance, support the Ruth Ellis Center and Corktown Health in Detroit, the magazine noted. At the checkout page for tickets to the Pride Night game, the Tigers website offered ‘a chance to support a local Pride organization of your choice,’ with a drop-down menu that included LGBT-focused clinics such as the Ruth Ellis Center and Corktown Health, both of which perform medical gender transitions on minors. On top of masculinizing and feminizing drugs, at least one — the Ruth Ellis Center — included irreversible ‘gender affirming surgery’ in its suite of ‘transition care for transgender youth’ options. Another charity promoted by the Tigers, the Trans Sistas of Color Project, was actively funding groups such as ‘Trans Minors Rights,’ which ‘advocates for empowering transgender youth to make their own decisions regarding puberty blockers’ — i.e., ‘without requiring the consent of a parent.’ (The group’s tagline: ‘Unblock blockers.’) The magazine noted that the Tigers are only one example and that the MLB “Pride Resource Guide” promotes a long list of “social justice” groups that also push transgenderism on kids. The report found that five teams promoted groups that push dangerous surgeries on trans kids, including the Detroit Tigers, the Boston Red Sox, the Milwaukee Brewers, Tampa Bay Rays, and the Cleveland Guardians. Four teams partner with organizations that provide counseling and referrals to youths for such medical procedures. That list includes the L.A. Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, and the Oakland As. And another five teams promote groups that offer guides and promotion of the transgender lifestyle, including the Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros, Arizona Diamondbacks, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Colorado Rockies. Finally, six teams support groups that have lobbyists for the trans cause and otherwise advocate for the transgender lifestyle. Those teams include the Chicago Cubs and White Sox, the L.A. Angels, Minnesota Twins, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Washington Nationals. “It’s a classic case of institutional capture by the Left,” the magazine concluded. It is up to the fans to speak out and urge the league to reverse course on this outrageous advocacy. Christ Church Events Coordinator Looking to move to Moscow? Biden Administration colluding with social media, Gov. Før vi snakker om OL: Dere kan støtte podkasten på Patreon. Det setter jeg veldig pris på. Teksten til episoden finner dere på nettstedet. Dere kan kontakte med via epost. All informasjon finner dere i deskripsjonen.

Aptera’s continued momentum has now garnered it over 7,000 vehicle reservations in just over two months totaling a quarter-billion in orders. The Solar Electric Vehicle (SEV) company is backed by crowdfunders, private investors and automotive leaders such as Sandy Munro of Munro & Associates, Inc. Earlier this month, Aptera moved into a new production design facility in the Sorrento Valley area of San Diego. Part of a 60,500 square foot campus, the facility will be home to Aptera’s three completed vehicles and a team of development engineers. Areas of focus will be advanced 3D printing, composites, UI/UX development, and battery technologies development. As the company expands, Aptera will be evaluating additional locations for production facilities in San Diego and around the world.   https://www.aptera.us/post/aptera-closes-4m-series-a-round-and-takes-a-quarter-billion-in-orders   ULTIUM CELLS CELEBRATES COMPLETION OF STEEL BUILDING STRUCTURE "Ultium Cells, the battery joint venture between General Motors and LG Chem's LG Energy Solution in Lordstown, Ohio, celebrates the completion of the steel building structure after 10-months and 500,000 construction build hours. About 85 members of Ironworkers gathered to sign the final beam of the structure, which in the near future will turn into a 2.8-million-square-foot plant." according to InsideEVs: "The site will be completed by mid-2022 and be able to produce 30 GWh of lithium-ion battery cells annually (with an option to expand), employing more than 1,100 people. GM and LG Chem agreed to jointly invest $2.3 billion in the venture to secure lithium-ion cell supply for the entire range of new electric vehicles."   https://insideevs.com/news/489446/ultium-cells-celebrates-construction-milestone/   https://media.gm.com/media/us/en/gm/news.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2021/feb/0219-ultium.html   PEUGEOT BEATS RENAULT IN FRANCE "Looking at January best sellers, the Peugeot e-208 has beaten the Renault Zoe for the first time since last April, and adding insult to injury, it wasn’t the only Peugeot model to beat the Renault model!" says Clean TEchnica: "The crossover Peugeot 3008 PHEV became the first plugin hybrid to win the monthly best seller trophy in France, by beating both the Zoe and its e-208 sibling. That was thanks to a record 1,410 registrations. The result also meant a historic one-two win for Peugeot at home, relegating the Renault EV to the 3rd spot for the first time in 8 years! But one shouldn’t read too much into these numbers, as they had more to do with allocation issues than actual demand. After all, in January, the Renault Zoe’s deliveries were exhausted by the “all hands on deck” effort of December, as Renault did everything to keep the Zoe on the top of last year’s European leadership scoreboard. The bill, HB 1965, creates low-emission vehicle (LEV) and zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) programs. It will strengthen regulations on tailpipe emissions, and require automakers to sell a certain number of ZEVs in Virginia." according to Charged EVs Magazine: "Governor Ralph Northam is expected to sign the bill into law. Once he does, Virginia will join 12 other states and Washington DC in adopting LEV and ZEV rules. Minnesota, New Mexico and Nevada are in the process of implementing clean car programs."   https://chargedevs.com/newswire/virginia-to-become-the-next-zero-emission-vehicle-state/   https://environmentamerica.org/news/ame/statement-virginia-state-senate-passes-vital-clean-cars-rule   VW ID.4 AT US DEALERS IN MARCH "Just got a call from my dealership’s EV specialist. Drove the Model Y and loved the speed and handling but the frameless glass (breaks easily) and no CarPlay or other streaming services or XM, PLUS the notorious build quality and much higher price unless they get the tax credit back put me off. Also got an insurance quote on the ID and it’s lower than my Mazda3 by a bit. Tesla fan boys destroyed: Part 2 - Tesla cars are abjectly unprofitable

Ahh yes, Tesla makes a profit. Technically. Five quarters in a row, now. I said they sold their cars at a loss, which they do. Back in July Tesla hit the milestone of four quarters of consecutive profit, which allowed it to join the S&P 500. But Tesla cannot post a profit from the sales of its cars. If Tesla just made money selling cars, Tesla would be routinely losing money. You can help support the channel, securely via PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=DSL9A3MWEMNBW&source=url Tesla is only profitable because it sells hundreds of millions of dollars of artificial regulatory clean air credits to other carmakers. Tesla cars get sold at a loss. Tesla turns that around by selling totally artificial bullshit green financial derivatives. June quarter of 2020 (that’s the fourth consecutive profit one, which allowed it to join the S&P): Tesla made US$428-million selling bullshit regulatory credits. That’s about four times the $104 million in net profit they declared that quarter. In other words, without selling these fake clean air credits to other carmakers, they would have been roughly $300 million in the red. And that’s a typical recent result for them. These bullshit regulatory credits are the most high performance financial product Tesla sells. And it works like this: In California, and at least 13 other US states (so, roughly a quarter of the union) carmakers which want to sell cars into those states must sell a certain number of notionally ‘green’ vehicles - EVs, hybrids, like that. Or they face big fines. If they sell more notionally zero emission vehicles than their quota, they get these fake credits. And the only way to sidestep the fines for failing to sell sufficient green vehicles is to buy bullshit zero-emission vehicle credits from a carmaker which is exceeding its quotas for ZEVs. Since Tesla sells only EVs, it’s got fake credits to burn, so it sells them to carmakers that need them, for less than the fines they would otherwise pay. Kerr-friggin’ ching. There’s the Tesla profit centre. It’s completely artificial. Selling these credits to other carmakers is the only reason Tesla is profitable, five quarters in a row. And demand for those credits will increase in 2021, until major competition steps in. Without the revenue from the sale of bullshit enviro-credits, Tesla remains wholly unprofitable. Ergo, Tesla cars get sold at a loss. This is very basic.

This week, we’re going to look at one of the most revolutionary ideas to improve our planet. It’s called the zero emission vehicle – better known as ZEV – and it may be able to reduce our contribution to air pollution and possibly climate change. Most people may know the name Tesla, which is one of the first truly zero emission vehicles on the market. It runs on batteries like many others that are in the pipeline. But there are other types that exist including an engine that runs on hydrogen. Our first guest takes us on a guided tour of the hydrogen engine and why it may represent the real future of ZEVs. His name is Xianguo Li and he is a Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Professor at the University of Waterloo. While ZEVs may seem like an excellent purchase, the reality is that there isn’t much of a demand for them. However, when people are asked about their perception of these vehicles, they are quite high. This is known as latent demand and our next guest reveals to us how we may be able to turn that interest into actual sales. She is Zoe Long and she is the Research Manager for the Sustainable Transport Action Research Team at Simon Fraser University. In our SASS Class, we learn about how governments and people who like ZEVs can improve sales. Our guest teacher is Scott Hardman and he is a professional researcher in the Plug-in Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Research Center, in the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California Davis. We learn about the different types of government incentives that exist and which country happens to have the greatest success in getting people to adopt ZEVs. We also find out that governments can only do so much and that word of mouth may still be the best way to increase purchases.
