What if the things you do every single day are quietly making you sick… and you don't even realize it? Harvard psychologist Dr. Ellen Langer, author of The Mindful Body, reveals the shocking ways our minds shape our health, aging, stress levels, and even how long we live—often without us noticing. In this mind-expanding of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Dr. Langer explains why self-agency and making your own decisions can literally extend your lifespan, how expectations and beliefs shape disease progression, and why the real meaning of mindfulness has almost nothing to do with meditation. Dr. Langer breaks down: - Small, everyday habits that are secretly harming your health - Why stress is the #1 cause of illness (and not for the reason you think) - Whether healing timelines are based on real time or perceived time - Surprising benefits of positive thinking, even with terminal illness - Danger of labels, including words like “try” and “remission” - Why spontaneous remissions exist & why they're so hard to study - Simple ways to become more mindful right now, even if you've never meditated once in your life - Can we train ourselves to not need eyeglasses? - The real power of the placebo effect - Can the mind cure the common cold? - Psychological treatments for chronic illness - Who is more likely to get sick & why - How color influences our biology more than we think - Why spirituality requires presence and mindfulness - How to reframe negative circumstances into positive ones, and the health benefits of doing so - How her mother's battle with cancer inspired her groundbreaking research This episode will change how you think about healing, stress, aging, illness, and the true power of your mind over your body! This week, Molly breaks down Peter Attia's public response after his name appears more than 1,700 times in recently released Epstein-related documents. The documents include emails and calendar references tying Attia to Jeffrey Epstein over multiple years. While the files do not allege Attia participated in Epstein's criminal sexual conduct, the relationship and tone of the correspondence raise serious questions about judgment, proximity to power, and credibility.Attia, a high-profile longevity figure with a paid membership and major online influence, posted a statement on X that he says was originally written to his staff and shared with patients. Molly walks through the statement nearly line by line to show why a response that leans on legal framing and denial language can fail to meet the public's real concern, which is moral discernment and ethical boundaries. In this episodeWho Peter Attia is and why his credibility is core to his brandWhat it means to be referenced 1,700 times in the Epstein filesThe reputational problem of sustained contact after Epstein's 2008 convictionWhy using one internal letter for public consumption can backfireThe danger of treating a values crisis like a facts-only crisisHow denials and courtroom-style phrasing can read as calculatedWhy intent and explanation rarely repair trust on their ownThe spillover effect occurs when the public starts scrutinizing everything elseThe bottom line lesson for anyone building a reputation onlineWant More Behind the Breakdown? Tether has officially launched its US-compliant stablecoin, USAT, a Genius Act–aligned, Treasury-backed token designed to operate squarely inside the American regulatory perimeter, giving the company a powerful hedge as global rules harden and tokenization accelerates. But the bigger story may be what comes next: Tether's rapid accumulation of gold, now rivaling central banks and openly framed by CEO Paolo Ardoino as preparation for a fractured monetary order where gold-backed alternatives to the dollar emerge. The episode explores why USAT is less about replacing USDT than expanding optionality, how Tether is positioning itself as a quasi-sovereign financial actor straddling competing systems, and why dire warnings about stablecoin yield draining bank deposits look far less destabilizing when set against the scale of the global financial system. Jen shares her journey from practicing attorney to legal recruiter focused on helping rainmakers find the right firm fit. She introduces her “Six Pillars to Becoming a Happy Rainmaker” framework, emphasizing self-care, boundaries, and legacy. The conversation explores practical strategies for lawyers to achieve both professional success and personal happiness, highlighting the importance of intentional career choices, coaching, and redefining success on one's own terms.Jen Gillman is the founder of Gillman Strategic Group, where she helps rainmakers find their exact right, perfect-fit firm and law firm owners navigate strategic mergers. As a former practicing attorney herself, Jen understands that professional success doesn't always equal fulfillment—and she's on a mission to change that. After earning her J.D. from NYU School of Law and B.A. from Brandeis University, Jen practiced law for 12 years before transitioning to legal recruiting.Unlike traditional recruiters who find lawyers for firms, Jen finds firms for lawyers. In the latest episode of The Break–Down, host Adrienne Buller is joined by renowned economist Ann Pettifor to discuss her new book, The Global Casino: How Wall Street Gambles with People and Planet. We've all heard the refrain. Whenever a politician proposes a policy that might genuinely improve people's lives — free and fast buses, affordable housing, large-scale renewable energy — the response is immediate: we can't afford it. Media pundits and technocrats fixate on national debt, balanced budgets and the need not to “spook” the ever-mysterious bond vigilantes. This obsession doesn't just dominate public debate — it paralyses action on the very challenges we urgently need to confront, from transforming our energy system to properly funding care for the most vulnerable. As this episode makes clear, it's also profoundly misleading. The Global Casino traces the extraordinary power of Wall Street, revisits Keynes's legacy, and asks a fundamental question: what is money, really? For Ann Pettifor, money is an extraordinary human invention — one that could be used to reshape our world for the better, rather than to enrich a powerful few.In today's episode, she explains how — and why it matters now more than ever.

If you've ever wondered, “What's actually real when it comes to UAPs, aliens, and nonhuman intelligence?”...today, you're getting real answers. This episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown cuts through decades of speculation, misinformation, and stigma to bring you hard science, firsthand research, and never-before-shared insights from one of the most credible scientists studying UAPs today. For years, the public has been left guessing—Are UFOs real? Are aliens visiting us? Are people actually being harmed? And why won't mainstream science touch this topic? That changes today. We're sitting down with Dr. Garry Nolan, Professor of Pathology at Stanford University School of Medicine, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Sol Foundation (a leading research institute focused on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena), and a featured expert in the hit documentary The Age of Disclosure. Dr. Nolan explains how he scientifically proved the infamous Atacama “alien” skeleton was not extraterrestrial, revealing what the DNA of true nonhuman life might actually look like if we ever encounter it. We also explore his classified-adjacent work studying UAPs, including deeply unsettling cases of alleged human injuries linked to possible UAP encounters and energy weapons, and the shocking implications these cases may have for regions of the human brain tied to intuition, perception, and consciousness itself. Dr. Nolan shares what he's uncovered from analyzing alleged UAP artifacts, including materials connected to Roswell, and how his lab studies metal fragments containing anomalies that appear to defy known physics. This episode goes where most won't—and does so with data, restraint, and scientific rigor. We're breaking down: - Why the Atacama “alien” skeleton fooled the world, and how science finally solved it - What alien or nonhuman DNA would actually look like (and why Hollywood gets it wrong) - What UAP-related human injury cases may reveal about the brain, intuition, and perception - How alleged UFO materials and Roswell fragments are analyzed at the atomic level - What Dr. Nolan believes the true goal of nonhuman intelligence might be - Why he thinks aliens should allow humanity to evolve naturally before further interference - What he personally witnessed as a child involving UAPs and nonhuman intelligence - How he responds to skepticism and backlash from fellow scientists - And whether humanity faces a physical or existential risk from alien contact This is not science fiction. This is cutting-edge science colliding with the biggest mystery of all time. Once you hear this, you may never look at reality the same way again. As Washington digs out from a winter storm, there are signs that the long-stalled crypto market structure bill may be inching forward again, with behind-the-scenes negotiations aiming to revive a bipartisan path in the Senate Agriculture Committee. The episode unpacks the competing narratives around whether talks are truly back on track, the political tradeoffs shaping the next markup, and why stablecoin yield remains the most stubborn blocker. It also looks at how pressure is building from outside Washington, from Coinbase and Bloomberg's Neil Ferguson pushing back on banking-lobby arguments, to new yield-bearing products from Bitwise and BlackRock that could make parts of the debate obsolete, before closing with a look at how Bitcoin miners' grid-balancing role showed up during the latest round of extreme winter weather. Greg Alba & Michael Tessler react to Episode 7 of Season 2 of Prime Video's Fallout, the penultimate chapter that pushes every storyline to the brink as the endgame finally comes into focus. With the series' trademark blend of dark humor, brutal consequences, and Fallout lore, this episode sets the board for an explosive finale where, once again, war never changes. The episode centers on Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell – Yellowjackets, Army of the Dead) as she makes a fateful choice that could redefine her moral compass and her place in the wasteland. Maximus (Aaron Moten – Father Stu, Next) is forced to confront the truth of his past in a reckoning that may finally unlock his future within the Brotherhood of Steel. Meanwhile, The Ghoul / Cooper Howard (Walton Goggins – Justified, The Hateful Eight) seeks out an unexpected ally as his long, painful journey continues to test the limits of his humanity. Elsewhere, chaos brews behind closed doors as wedding bells ring inside the vault, raising unsettling questions about control, tradition, and survival. In a twist that widens the scope of the series even further, the story briefly ventures beyond familiar territory with a surprise stop in Canada, while shadowy management figures decide what to do about their growing imposter problem. With all the cards finally on the table, alliances shift, secrets surface, and the episode ends on a razor's edge—leaving one lingering question hanging in the irradiated air: does the House always win? Days after I recorded this episode, federal agents killed Alex Pretti, a VA nurse, in another operation that has drawn national outcry. This episode isn't about policing. It's about what leadership looks like when:The crisis you predicted happens anywayYour people are exhausted and under-resourcedYou're caught between powerful institutions and community griefOne bad moment could erase years of progressO'Hara doesn't perform. Greg Alba & Tara Erickson react to Zootopia 2 (2025), Disney's long-awaited animated sequel that reunites audiences with the bustling, animal-filled metropolis and its unlikely heroes. Building on the Oscar-winning original, Zootopia 2 expands the world, deepens its social satire, and delivers a new mystery that challenges Judy and Nick in unexpected ways. The film once again centers on rookie-turned-legendary cop Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin – Once Upon a Time, Something Borrowed) and her clever, streetwise partner Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman – Ozark, Horrible Bosses). Now firmly established as a team, Judy and Nick are pulled into a fresh case that pushes them beyond the familiar districts of Zootopia, exploring new neighborhoods, species dynamics, and power structures within the city. Early buzz points to the sequel leaning even harder into themes of bias, trust, and institutional accountability—while maintaining the humor and heart that made the original a phenomenon. Returning to his horror roots, Raimi delivers a relentless, fast-paced nightmare that's as funny as it is horrifying. The film follows ambitious loan officer Christine Brown (Alison Lohman – Big Fish, Matchstick Men), whose life spirals into terror after she denies an extension to an elderly woman, Mrs. Sylvia Ganush (Lorna Raver – They, Carnivàle). In retaliation, Ganush places a horrifying curse on Christine, condemning her to three days of escalating supernatural torment before being literally dragged to Hell. As Christine desperately searches for a way to break the curse, she's supported by her skeptical boyfriend Clay Dalton (Justin Long – Jeepers Creepers, Accepted), whose disbelief only heightens the film's tension and tragic irony. What if every health issue is actually part of the same underlying problem? In this powerful episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Dr. Will Bulsiewicz — world-renowned gastroenterologist, gut health expert, and author of Plant Powered Plus — explains why your gut health is a story of your brain-gut connection. He shares why filling the ‘God-shaped hole' is a biological requirement to reduce inflammation and start to heal. Skin issues, bloating, autoimmune disease, chronic pain, fatigue, brain fog, and even bloating may all be hidden symptoms of inflammation, driven by modern life, chronic stress, poor sleep, trauma, disconnection, and most importantly, a lack of spiritual connection. Dr. B shares a startling personal story of his own spiritual awakening that he had previously been too self-conscious to share. Dr. Bulsiewicz also breaks down: - Why modern convenience keeps us stuck in fight-or-flight instead of rest & digest - Practical, science-backed ways to reduce inflammation - Why health protocols help, but are never one-size-fits-all - Why the colon is your first line of defense against inflammation - Top 3 ways we're destroying our gut microbiome - How GLP-1 drugs (Ozempic, Wegovy) are changing gut health, and their potential long-term risks - Importance of fiber, protein quality, diet variety, and why the Western diet fuels inflammation We also explore the powerful link between science, faith, and healing — why spirituality, purpose, and human connection measurably improve physical health, and how loneliness, trauma, and individualism damage the gut and immune system. Backed by science, we unpack how trauma causes digestive disease and why forgiveness can literally heal the body. Dr. Bulsiewicz shares his personal journey into spirituality, his emotional reconciliation with his father, and the remarkable experiences that followed his passing. If you've been struggling with unexplained symptoms, chronic inflammation, gut issues, fatigue, or are searching for a more whole-person approach to health, this episode may completely change how you think about healing. Launching a popular YA franchise, the film drops viewers into a mysterious, brutal survival scenario where memory, trust, and instinct are the only tools for escape. The story follows Thomas (Dylan O'Brien – Teen Wolf, American Assassin), who awakens with no memory in a massive maze surrounded by towering stone walls and deadly creatures known as Grievers. He's taken in by a group of boys called the Gladers, led by Alby (Aml Ameen – Sense8, Yardie) and strategic second-in-command Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster – Game of Thrones, Love Actually). Ryan is the founder and the CEO of The Scalable Company Digital Marketer, and a founding partner at Scalable Equity, LLC, a venture equity accelerator that builds and acquires B2B media and software brands. He is a bestselling author, founder of multiple companies, collectively employing hundreds around the globe, and one of the most dynamic speakers on business operating systems in the United States today. So welcome to the podcast, Ryan.Ryan 00:00:32  Thanks for having me. It is not difficult to be among the most dynamic speakers about business operating systems, because most people would consider that to be like watching paint dry. But I think it's I think it's pretty sexy stuff, so I appreciate that.Josh 00:00:47  Hey, and I agree as well. Typically it is, it is one of those topics that most people, I think tend to avoid, right? If you go to a conference and you're like, which one should I go to? I think the shiny object is always like the newest marketing hack, right? Or like social media? and with your experience obviously running Digital Marketer, you're you're well versed in that.Josh 00:01:09  And I think you could argue you're one of the most well-versed in digital marketing itself. But today we're going to be talking all about business operating systems. So how do you know who should be your first hire? Right. is it kind of going along that customer journey, so to speak, or your value journey that we're talking about here? And is it identifying, you know, hey, actually our secret sauce is in product innovation, right? Like that's our secret sauce. That's where it seems like we're bringing a lot of value, especially on Amazon. Right. You talk about, you know, bringing traffic. It's like well Amazon's brought traffic to you. Plus they have the fulfillment engine. So like they've tackled two big levers for a lot of people right. so if you identify like, hey, we're really good at product innovation or something like that, Does that mean, hey, I should first hire out that product innovation? Or do I need to figure out a product? Do I need to hire a project manager? Or is it an executive assistant? Like, how do you go through the process of deciding who to hire first and why?Ryan 00:02:12  So let me answer the question by telling you what not to do.Ryan 00:02:14  And then I'll come back around and give a more explicit answer. So what most people do, and it's not what you should do, is they go around and they look at all the stuff that needs to get done, right. And it's their name in all the boxes. And so what they say is, okay, I need to get somebody to help me with all of the little things so that I have more time to do these quote unquote important things. Right? So I need to hire, you know, a virtual assistant to help, like, answer my email and to deal with my scheduling. And, you know, I need to hire somebody else over here to, you know, respond to this and take care of that. And, you know, in this particular step, if I, if I just had somebody to help me do some of the pieces of this, you know, then, you know, then then I could be more efficient. And what we're doing when we do that is.Ryan 00:02:56  And the reason that's not what you do is you're what is known as the genius with a thousand helpers. Okay. And so you're not actually creating any additional space and freedom for yourself. You're just adding the management of other people and the tasking out of other people to your already cluttered to do list. And that's why it doesn't work. And that's why ultimately these people wind up failing and we're like, oh, they suck. And they were supposed to help me. And they're supposed to take time off. And they're not. They're just asking me all these questions. I don't have time to answer all these questions. Right. It's because we didn't hire someone to own a critical aspect of the value creation process. We hired somebody to help us continue to own that process. So what I would encourage you to do is look at the value creation flow and to say, what are the critical tasks and processes that I don't like. And I'm not particularly good at, but I'm currently being forced to do okay.Ryan 00:03:46  So it's incredibly critical. It's incredibly important. But you don't necessarily like doing it and and you don't necessarily. You're not necessarily the best in the world at it. So let's say again, you know, you're running an e-commerce business and you really love the product side of things. You love the innovation and the sourcing. you love, you know, thinking about the packaging and the positioning, but you're getting the bulk of your traffic, let's say, from, you know, Pinterest and Instagram. And really, you don't geek out that much on Pinterest and Instagram, but you're good enough at it, right? So what people would say is like, I guess I'm gonna get somebody to help with photography and maybe somebody can write some of the descriptions and do a littl...

Today's episode digs into the deepening market structure fallout in Washington, tracing how Coinbase's withdrawal from the bill triggered White House anger, exposed fractures across the crypto lobby, and reignited bipartisan resistance in the Senate, particularly around DeFi liability and stablecoin yield. The episode explores why stablecoin yield has become the central fault line between banks and crypto, with banks warning of deposit flight while critics argue the real issue is banks protecting profits at the expense of consumers, leaving the bill stuck between irreconcilable interests. The result is a pessimistic moment for crypto legislation, where momentum still exists but the path forward increasingly looks like it will require one side to cave—or the effort to collapse entirely. What if your purpose isn't something you need to find, but something you need to remember? In this wide-ranging, eye-opening episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Simon Sinek reveals why fulfillment, optimism, and meaning don't come from chasing success, titles, or external validation, but from looking inward. As technology and AI reshape work, relationships, and identity, Simon explains why understanding your WHY is more important than ever, and how leaning into timeless human skills can help you thrive in a rapidly changing world. Simon goes far beyond leadership theory and gets deeply human. He breaks down: - Why who you are and what you're meant to do may already be inside you, shaped by your values, DNA, and life journey - How to think about identity beyond job titles and surface-level roles - Why your passions, frustrations, and questions about the world are clues to your purpose - How discovering your personal WHY leads to a more resilient, meaningful, and fulfilling life - Why purpose matters more than ever in the age of AI (and why trying to “outcompete” technology is the wrong goal) - Why we're expecting more meaning from work than any generation before us - Why Simon is a perpetual optimist and truly believes anyone can find fulfillment in whatever work they do - Real, science-backed benefits of a positive mindset - Why elite athletes and longevity-obsessed people may actually end up with shorter lifespans - Why conflict is unavoidable, but peaceful resolution is always possible - Responsibilities of leaders (and why leadership is about service, not status) - Key differences in how men and women tend to lead (and why both styles matter) - Why you sometimes have to fail before you can succeed - How to know when it's time to move on from a work relationship that no longer serves you And perhaps most hopeful of all: Why Simon finds real optimism in young people choosing connection over status, and why the future belongs not to the most productive, but to the most human. Male Loneliness Is Exploding...Tech, AI, and Society Are Making It Worse Scott Galloway — NYU Stern Professor of Marketing, serial entrepreneur, bestselling author of Notes on Being a Man, and one of the most influential voices on culture, masculinity, and economics — returns to Mayim Bialik's Breakdown for a brutally honest conversation about what's happening to young men today… and why it affects all of us. In this wide-ranging discussion, Galloway breaks down why young men are more lonely, economically insecure, and socially disconnected than any generation before them, and how technology, AI companionship, and synthetic relationships are hijacking young male brains at an unprecedented scale. We explore the growing maturity gap between men and women, why women are now surpassing men financially and educationally, and why young men are struggling so badly in the modern dating market. Scott also dives into the alarming rise of AI chatbots and synthetic relationships, especially among young people, and the hidden dangers no one is talking about. Scott also breaks down: - Why young men today are at a disadvantage compared to prior generations - How tech, AI, and economic insecurity are fueling male loneliness - Why women's success does NOT cause men to fail - Why young men are falling behind in education, income, and dating - Shocking prevalence of human–AI relationships and why they're dangerous - Why resilience is the most important trait for long-term success - Why older generations of men have a moral obligation to pay it forward - How single-parent households affect children, especially boys (The U.S. has the highest rate of single-parent homes in the world!) - Best ways to truly connect with your kids in a digital world - Why Scott identifies as a reluctant atheist and how belief, meaning, and purpose fit into modern life This is a conversation about masculinity, responsibility, technology, parenting, faith, and the future, and why fixing the crisis facing young men is one of the most important challenges of our time.
